In January of this year, Ashley Judd and her husband, race car driver Dario Franchitti, formally separated… but didn’t file for divorce. I don’t think many people were really surprised by the announcement. I know I was just surprised by the idea that their marriage had managed to hold together for so many years. So, they were separated for most of this year, and then in October, Dario was badly injured in an accident on the racetrack. Ashley allegedly dropped everything to be by his side, and shortly after the accident, the tabloids were full of glowing stories about Dario and Ashley’s tender reconciliation. A source told Us Weekly, “They are going to give it another try after he recovers. His accident made her realize how much she loves him.” But what if that really didn’t happen? What if Dario was injured, yes, and Ashley did run to be with him… only she was rebuffed by Dario’s new girlfriend?
After race car driver Dario Franchitti got into a traffic accident at the Grand Prix of Houston on Oct. 6 that left him serious injured, his estranged wife Ashley Judd rushed to his side.
The close call made Ashley rethink their recent separation- but Dario, who is dating another woman, immediately spurned her advances.
“She’s heartbroken,” a source tells Star. But all hope is not lost for the couple. Close pals say that while Dario is focused on his recovery and his new girlfriend, “only time will tell what the future holds.”
Since neither has filed for divorce, there may be a few more miles left on those tires after all.

Ouch. Rough. And I actually wonder if this is closer to reality. It just seems weird and… how shall I say?… typical of Ashley Judd to think that she’s the one controlling the state of their separation and marriage. Like, oh, now she’s made up her mind that they’re going to reconcile so she has her publicist tell the tabloids that they’re back together and she’s bravely nursing him back to health… except that he has a new girlfriend and he’s already moved on. Tell me that doesn’t sound like Ashley Judd? I would love to hear more about this new girlfriend. I bet Ashley is already plotting.

Am I a bitch if I am tired of actors and actresses being political? Like when I hear Scarlet Johanssen talk as if she has any clue about these issues I cringe. I think all of them except Susan Sarrandon should be banned from speaking on politics.

Rin, I couldn’t agree more. Most of the actors who are political “activists” don’t even have a formal education, yet their celebrity status gives them a platform to spout off about things they aren’t really qualified to make an informed opinion about. George Clooney comes to mind, sorry.
As annoying as she is, at least Ashley has a solid education. Please obtain something other than a GED before you become a self-proclaimed “expert” about politics. Boo.
I agree they should shut-up when they are misinformed and talk out of their assess or are only interested because it gets them more publicity… But just because they are an actor doesn’t mean they are ONLY an actor and can’t have outside interests. Some of them actually know their stuff.

karmasabiatch!: I know a lot of people who have years of formal education and a myriad of degrees yet they are not the most informed, smartest people. They couldn’t tell you much about current topics or debate the latest political issues. I don’t think a formal education has anything to do with politics, nor does it make someone automatically qualified to talk politics.
same with celebrities preaching to everyone about environmental issues. we all know they’re just spouting what the PR team have told them to say. if they deviate from the script they don’t know what they’re talking about.

“Dropped everything to be by his side”…is so dramatic and hyperbolic. When someone you know has been in an accident, you go visit them, if you care about them. Isn’t that normal human behavior?
Judd’s the one who described it similarly. The woman tweeted that with the dogs and the clothes on her back she was rushing straight to his side.
Friends in the racing scene have told me she is a very unpleasant person to be around. She was always known for her diva antics and unless there was some tragedy involving another driver where she could use her dramatic acting skills ,had no desire to be around the other drivers or their wives. Franchitti is the opposite of her. Friendly, happy and very humble.
Hopefully she steers clear and let’s him have a normal life with someone who enjoys racing and being a part of the scene.
I too have heard that she’s all about the spotlight being on her, at all times. Even during the races where obvs her husband should be the star since he, you know, races. They always struck me as an odd couple but I’m of the opinion that if one partner is cray, then the other one can’t be too far behind. Especially considering their marriage lasted for 10 years without any buffers AKA children.
It does make you wonder what he saw in this crazy b*tch to begin with. Oh well of he won’t have her back maybe she can pick up another companion dog.

You make a really good point. I’ve wondered this also, which is why I think Dario fell in love with Ashley before she was … before she was, shall we say … the way she is now. I think she got increasingly worse over the years and he probably kept trying to love her and tolerate her, but finally — damn — enough is enough. I bet he has so totally fallen out of love with her at this point that he doesn’t have a single regret or wish to go backwards. The fact that she DIDN’T know he’d moved on with another woman is very, very telling.
Judd was quite the hot property when she was younger. Remember when she was dating both Michael Bolton and Mathew McConoghay? When she married Dario she still seemed relatively normal, it was before she started slipping both personally and professionally. To this day, I am shocked that someone who has behaved so badly toward almost everyone she comes across, who has documented mental health problems, ever thought it would be a possibility to run for a Senate seat. It was utterly delusional.
I remember reading somewhere about that she had borderline personality disorder (can’t remember where). My cousin has it and will charm the pants off men, make them fall in love with her, and then all of a sudden she’s Ms. Hyde and they wonder what the hell happened. One of her exes moved across country and changed his name, one has a restraining order on her. If Ashley does have BPD, I bet it has been a hard road for him.

She is filming a movie in Southwest Virginia that started production within a day or so of his accident, so she was not able to be by his side very long.
I would fully believe that she thinks she calls the shots, so it would be interesting if he’s moving on without her.
I can’t see this happening at all. I read he is close to getting engaged. He wants a family, and I think she has fertility issues. I live in Indy, and she is quite the diva during the month of May. I hope Dario has moved on, he’s such a nice man!
Janie, I agree. We went to Carb Day this year and he was a lot accessible this year, plus he seemed more laid back. Dario is such a nice guy, I don’t understand how she would assume he was single and just fly out to see him in the hospital, they’ve been separated since January.

I completely loathe her for a whole list of reasons. So I’m not crying for her over this, no.
While she’s always screamed ‘diva actress’ to me and this stunt queen move is no exception, she’s never denied where she came from, seems well informed about the issues she chooses to speak to and is one of the few actresses that has no problem embracing feminism. If she had tried harder at being likable, or was better at keeping what ever her damage is a secret, she’d actually be electable.

During her active acting days, she appeared on Letterman & other talk shows. She was always funny, articulate, down-to-earth & usually told at an anecdote or two at her own expense.
One I recall – alone at the Ahwahnee (a very expensive lodge in Yosemite Nat’l Park, usually reserved months in advance) in bed, lights out, she realized she’d left her yoga mat outside her back patio door. She got up to bring it in, accidentally closing the door behind her nude self. Wrapping the mat around as a short sarong, she walked with as much dignity as possible through the after-dinner libation crowd in the expansive lobby to the desk for a new key. Ignored stares. Back in her room she turned on the light & noticed she had several spots of pink pimple cream pasted on her face. She told it well & laughed heartily, as did the audience & host.
Until she got into the remembered-abuse stuff, I always found her sane & likeable.
The surest sign of insecurity about ones background and intelligence is the unnecessary use of large words or using more words than needed to get a point across. It is transparent which means people that do that aren’t really intelligent at all but merely studied in English. If they were truly intelligent they would realize upon reflection that they just like to hear themselves talk.
I like Miss Judd. I also have heard that she has a reputation for beibg difficult, but i believe she suffers from bipolar disease and that is not easily dealt with by the patient or the people around her. She also comes from a difficult upbringing and has publically admitted to being molested and neglected to some degree in during her childhood, which also may leave many scars. Nonetheless, she is a fine actress and well spoken and is a human rights activist. I would have liked to have seen her enter the political arena, but immediatedly, the sharks smelled blood and it was obviously she would have had personnally attacked. She obviously still cares for her husband, but if he has moved on, then it is time for her to move on as well.
Here’s a little window into the world of Ashley Judd, the original story has been banished from the web by her storm trooping lawyers. She’s a nightmare. There’s NO reason it the world he should need to be with her, he’s too nice and way to gorgeous. No wonder she’s estranged from her family, fans and the rest of the universe.
