Miley Cyrus wins Bambi award, wears Jean Paul Gaultier: lame or lovely?

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus was all class at last night’s Bambi awards in Berlin. I’m not even joking. Miley had to behave herself because this is Germany’s version of the Oscars. She also — gasp — received the award for Best International Pop Act.

*record scratch*

Miley wore a black vintage Jean Paul Gautier gown with “hoop” sleeves. She was completely covered up, which is probably the most shocking thing she can do at this point. She looked slightly glamorous although I’m not crazy about the massive statement necklace. Most importantly Miley kept her damn tongue in her mouth. She performed an acoustic version of “Wrecking Ball” while fully dressed, and it was very weird. This week’s issue of Star magazine says Miley’s team is pushing her to chill out and be a little classier by hiring Rachel Zoe as a stylist. I don’t think Rachel Zoe would have put her in this dress. She would have gone all weird and bohemian with flowy fabrics instead. Yuck.

* Since Miley was on her most civilized behavior for the evening, I almost feel bad about mentioning this new rumor. Miley tried to party with Lamar Odom at Beacher’s Madhouse a few weeks ago. Lamar said no way because he didn’t want to deal with the Miley dramz. He’ll put up with the Kardashian krap, but Miley is apparently too much. Hmm.

* Sinead O’Connor talked to Time magazine about the feud that ended with Miley making fun of mental illness. Sinead stated, “The music business is corrupt. It’s full of nothing but vampires and pimps. What was more important that came out of the Miley thing was being able to conversate about mental health and human rights. The two of us, without meaning to, did quite a good job.

Before the Bambi awards, Miley tweeted a pic of herself next to a photo of Karl Lagerfeld. Hint hint.

Karl spent his Bambis red carpet design with Victoria Beckham (who’s wearing her own design of course). Rumor has it Karl’s a Bangerz fan though.

Now for the video of Miley’s acoustic performance of “Wrecking Ball.” This song is getting very old very fast.

Lovely Morticia Addams dress but Miss Cyrus doesn’t pull it off sorry, the dress wears her and not the other way around… and the necklace looks awkward because of the collar, that type of necklace must be seen, not half overshadowed by a collar.

    • paige says:

      you get it…
      exactly what i was thinking.

    • Andrew1 says:

I actually kind of like it. Not amazing but attractive to me. I even like her hair lol…and I have to confess that I really really like wrecking ball. If it’s getting old it’s because it’s overplayed just like any other pop song

  2. Jen says:

The necklace is Chanel, from Lagerfeld’s latest collection. So somebody on her team must be tight with The Lagermeister…

  3. Eleonor says:

    At least she’s covered.

  4. aims says:

I agree, at least she looks like an adult. I’m not loving the dress, but I’ll gladly take it over pasties any day.

  5. Marty says:

That lifestyle is catching up to her quick, she’s got more lines under her eyes then I do, and I’m 7 years older.

  6. Arock says:

She’s silly. No bearing, no importance, no ate ment, just silly.

  7. Jayna says:

I love the dress on her.

  8. Christina says:

The inner goth in me likes this dress. Miley certainly has the lean lanky body to pull off this dress as well. Obviously she looks better than when she is wearing plastic diapers and dead rapper shirts as dresses. Though she does have a “too many mollies this week” look, esp for someone so young. Her hair & makeup are a little severe. The dress is goth looking, so I think some softer hair and makeup would make her look less Halloween and more red carpet.

  9. Patricia says:

I think she looks awesome! What a cool dress, and I think she is wearing it well.

  10. Lucy says:

Victoria looks lovely! Don’t care about Miley tbh.

  11. mia girl says:

Call me crazy, but I kinda like the look… and the performance.

    • Blannie says:

Me too! I love the dress and I love her acoustic version of Wrecking Ball.

      • Hakura says:

@Blannie – Have you heard the acoustic version she did of ‘We Can’t Stop’? Definitely *not* a song that transitions to acoustic. I like ‘Wrecking Ball‘ as a single, but I don’t think she does it justice during live performances like these.

  12. TheOriginalKitten says:

I love that dress (and the necklace is cool too) but not on her body. Not trying to thin-shame but that dress would look AMAZING on someone a little curvier.

Posh cracks me up…always so somber. I kinda love her though.

  13. blech says:

I can never get past this girls nails. You would think with the money she makes she could get some nails that don’t look like they came from a supermarket or toysRus dress up kit.

    • Mel says:

      ^^
      Thank you!

    • Hakura says:

@Blech – I know, they look ridiculous… But I’m pretty sure it’s just another tactic in trying to convince people that she is *SO URBAN-FLY YOU GUYS* by going after a trend more popular with some of the ladies of Hip Hop. Which just makes it look even more ridiculous & try-hard.

  14. Serena says:

Karl Lagerfeld said on the red carpet that he likes Bangerz. Its totally funny to image him hearing that album.
I like most of the songs too and I like Miley. Most of her outfits not so much. That one she wore while singing Wrecking Ball at Bambi was awesome. That black dress not so much. I agree that the dress wore her. She has such a nice body she could wear so much better outfits..
Victoria Beckham was lovely. Karl L held the laudatory speech for her and I really think she deserves this award.

  15. MisJes says:

    I still love wrecking ball.

  16. Jackson says:

I like both the dress and the necklace. It looks like it has a nice flow to it while she’s walking. I think she looks good.

    • nikko says:

Most of the comments are just haters, because she looks good in that dress. Whether you like her of not, she’s looking good in that black dress (one of her poses reminds me a little of Angelina Jolie).

  17. Timber says:

What has the music industry come to? This girl can not sing. She’s off key and nasally…just awful.

    • some bitch says:

      Nepotism…

      • TheOneandOnlyOnly says:

And probably bribery and payola ; Britney Howard of the Alabama Shakes and Esperenza Spalding have more talent in one of their eyelashes than this nasally narcissistic nitwit; Her “music” which requires a whole team to produce, is as trashy as she is.

  18. Hannah says:

Can I just point out that the Bambi Awards are NOT the German Oscars. The German Film Prize would be the equivalent of the Academy Awards.

The Bambis are just another sad German attempt to get international stars to come over on a visit, because we’re so self-conscious about are own talent. They also pay people to accept an award. The winners always completely random and every year they make up some ridiculous new category because they want to reward some idiot or another.

    • Tapioca says:

Didn’t they give footballer Mesut Ozil an award a couple of years ago pretty much just for having Turkish parents or something? Like a “Well done, you’re a bit foreign but you still chose to play for the German NT”. Bizarre!

      • Hannah says:

Indeed. They called it the “Immigration Bambi”. *bangsheadagainstthewall*

      • minime says:

err…even considering that these awards are not the most respected it is a bit too lightly to phrase it like that. Mesut Özil was not awarded “just” for having Turkish parents. First he is considered a great athlete and second he brought together Germans and Turkish/Turkish descendants. Turkish emigrants make a big part of the German population but despite the long history that they have in the country, they still have a hard time to integrate. Someone like Özil is a great example of integration for both sides and helped one side to feel more at home and the other side to be more aware of acceptance (yes, the power of something like football is intriguing). Even if an “immigration bambi” sounds stupid, this is the kind of message that pop media can easily pass to make a contribution for society.

      • Hannah says:

@minime You’re right in saying that he is a symbol for integration and certainly contributed to easing the relationship between both sides. But the fact of the matter is, he didn’t do anything “but” play football. So to give him an award (it was actually called the “Integration Bambi” not “Immigration”, sorry about that) for making people realize they shouldn’t be so judgmental etc. is rather absurd, in my opinion.
A lot of people who receive Bambis are certainly good people who have accomplished great things, Bill Gates was one of the honorees this year. But with giving prizes to people simply because they’re famous and you would really like them to be on the show so we’ll just make up a category for you, regardless of whether you have a movie out anytime soon or not, is diminishing the prestige of the whole shebang. If you want to reward people who contributed in society, create an award for that. If you want to have a big showbiz awards-do, produce one. But don’t make idiots of yourselves by inviting the most famous people you can think of, even if they haven’t worked in a decade.

    • Renee says:

I thought that us Canadians were the only ones to feel like this…

    • Dommy Dearest says:

So it’s like the MTV awards? Good to know!

      • hannah says:

More like the People’s Choice Awards or that whole GQ/Glamour Man/Woman of the Year business. It’s definitely more of a popularity/fame contest than anything else.

  19. Sarah says:

“Germany’s version of the Oscars.” LOL no way. this is the german version of the least respected american award show because no one in Germany takes this show seriously.

its a set up by the biggest gossip mag in germany. there is no academy with qualified people or a jury or something, who shows up gets an award. international stars like her are usually paid and the mag will then have favourable articles. kind of like the GQ Awards: you give us access and interviews and we give you a showbusiness award.
the winners range from a rescue dog to victoria beckham (lol) to second rate comedians.
only fashion mags take it seriously and the rest of the press makes fun of the show for trying so hard and failing so big.

once they had sarah jessica parker host the show. so they had a german award show hosted on english and simultanously translated back to german 😀 oh and then she got a “surprise” Bambi for it.

the show hightlights that some stars will give away all of their dignity for something shiny.

its basically like if People Mag would do an award show and they would award Jen Anniston Best Actress and Marchesa as “Best Fashion Label”.

    • Hannah says:

So true! I hope the ratings are even worse than last year’s and the people in charge will finally come to their senses and put an end to this embarrassment!

  20. Quinn says:

I think this trick could cure cancer, and I’d still find a reason to be nauseated by her. Do not like.

  21. Lucybelle says:

I don’t have anything to say about Miley. However, that picture of Karl Lagerfeld and Victoria Beckham is enough to make even the most optimistic person fall into a deep depression. They look like they are at a funeral.

  22. Mb says:

Dress and necklace are pretty….but she looks like she is playing dress up in mommies clothes

  23. Sue says:

Let the hate begin. Personally I think that most of the “haters” here are just jealous. This girl has made herself into a true star. Good for her – just hope she is able to stay away from the drugs. And as for her voice – it is a good voice.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

      Jealous….of what exactly?

    • Lucybelle says:

I’m not jealous of a single thing Miley Cyrus has. I don’t think she’s ugly but she is far from beautiful. She has a great body but I wouldn’t want to do all the work that goes into maintaining that physique. She is rich but I shudder to think what she had to go through to make it (if the rumors about how Disney stars are used is true). She is rude, tactless, crude, uneducated and crass.
Actually, I am jealous of one thing. I am jealous that she has Dolly Parton as her godmother.

      • Leila In Wunderland says:

I think if that story were true, at least ONE of our adult former Disney stars- Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Ryan Gosling, Keri Russel, Raven Symone, Hilary Duff, and a whole bunch of other stars- would come forward with it. Sounds more like a conspiracy theory based on the myth that experimentation+female=abuse.

  24. kimmy says:

Actually, I kind of like this dress. Very retro. I wish she left the necklace (while fabulous on its own) at home. It clashes w/ the shape of the neckline.

  25. Not says:

The dress is not for her…Why doesnt some1 tell her the truth?its sad.

  26. serena says:

I like the dress, it’s unusual but we should be just glad she covered up. Thank god she did, I hope she’ll continue this trend.

  27. minime says:

well no matter what, she looks definitely better when she is using some clothes and not too bling bling.
On the other hand, the performance is hideous. I was actually surprised since I thought she has a nice voice. Definitely acoustic is not for her.

  28. Dinah says:

    Oh. My.
She’s trying to hop the Lorde train, as she has come under much fire for her appearance during this time of Lorde’s ascent. Queue Katy (sp?) Perry’s similarly subdued styling in 3, 2, 1…

  29. Brown says:

What am I missing!?!?! Her voice is SO AWFUL. The girl cannot sing. I am sorry. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills!!!!!!!!

  30. Beregorl says:

It looks like something Angelina would’ve worn 13 years ago.

  31. Leila In Wunderland says:

She looks like an evil queen in this dress.

  32. Raised Brow says:

    ‘Conversate’??? -_- Not a word.

  33. Fan says:

Maybe Liam can go back to her now that she is not nude anymore.

  34. themummy says:

I absolutely CANNOT STAND this girl, but… (ugh) I love that dress and think she looks really pretty here (ugh, again). Also, the acoustic performance might be the first Miley Cyrus song I’ve ever heard, but the girl has some serious pipes, eh?

I’m going to go shower now so I can wash the fact that I said anything nice about this wreck right off.

  35. lisa says:

when she closes her mouth, it is never shut all the way. like her teeth dont fit.

  36. Amelia says:

    M looks like a child.

  37. homegrrrral says:

cmon people…this is avant garde and flattering. The whole look is good. Her performance was nearly flawless. How does she deal with all the criticism? She.couldn’t possibly be drugged out. Every photo op is a put together star. I don’t understand the outrage.

  38. SuSu says:

    I like it.
IMO that dress would look better on someone with more curves.
I´m no fan of the make-up and nails, but it´s a good look and Miley looks very good here.

Wrecking ball: the video is shit, the song is great. Just because you hate this rich little girl doesn´t mean she has no talent and that her music is bad. Even with her new nude/slutty attitute she makes millions and is more famous than ever. You can write her and her career down all you want, her plan is succesful and she will stay. Madonna did it, Aguilera did it etc. It´s all planed.

  39. Dommy Dearest says:

    Nope nope nope.

She needs to lay off the botox and fillers. This girl is not attractive nor does she have talent. So tired of this chewed up bubble gum star.

  40. GIrlyGirl says:

She’ll be winning the Bimbo award in about 5 years…

What on off-key skank, where did the music industry go so terribly wrong?

  41. Jenn says:

I like the necklace. She looks like Wendy the Witch in that dress though. I’m just happy she kept her tongue in her mouth. Yay!
