I think the doll is great because it normalizes breastfeeding. Many young girls imitate their mother breastfeeding their younger sibling(s) by putting a doll in breastfeeding position. How wonderful it is for young girls to learn early that breasts are made for feeding babies and not just for filling with silicone to parade around in skin-baring tops for men!

Yep. My daughter nursed her baby dolls because she saw me feed her brother. That said, I don’t know if the public is ready for this doll yet, but how wonderful if it were.
My daughters breastfed their dolls when they saw me breastfeeding but I object to the notion that breasts are “made for breastfeeding”. Breasts are made for whatever the woman who owns them wants to do with them. That’s no different to me than to say vaginas are “made” for heterosexual intercourse only or any other silly biological determination. Our bodies are ours do with them as we wish–women’s bodies are more than the sum of their biological functions.
I agree with you too, it’s up to the individual to make both decisions about clothing and breastfeeding. I don’t think Jag was trying to make a statement against that, though. It’s just that society is so insane about breasts (and the fact that men like to look at them) that a simple act like a mother breastfeeding in public is even up for debate.
I think the notion was that biologically, breasts are designed for breast feeding. I get what you are saying about choice, but the fact remains that the true biological purpose of the human breast is to feed a baby.
It’s good to remind people of all ages that there’s nothing wrong with or inappropriate about breastfeeding or breasts in general, and this type of doll is a reminder of that.
