I’m writing about these photos because A) it’s super-slow and B) I have become a complete and total convert to Lizzy Caplan, and I hope you’ll join me. These are photos of Lizzy and her Bangs of Doom at last night’s Hollywood Foreign Press Association “Miss Golden Globe” party. Basically, it was just a pre-Golden Globes party in which lots of young, up-and-coming actors got to party and meet members of the HFPA. It’s good that Lizzy is doing these kinds of events, because if she plays her cards right, she’s going to get some major lead actress nominations for her role as Virginia Johnson in Showtime’s Masters of Sex. Sidenote: I dislike her dress, but at least she stands out, I suppose.
I haven’t talked about Masters of Sex yet because, quite honestly, it makes me feel all the feels. I’ve been enjoying this first season of MoS more than I’ve enjoyed the new season of Homeland. Both are must-watch for me, and I’ve been watching both with an online subscription (which means I’m ahead of you TV viewers of MoS – I’ve seen up to episode 10!). Let me just say – Masters of Sex is an AMAZING show. Lizzy is a revelation, Michael Sheen is awesome and Alison Janney joined the cast and she is breaking my heart and rocking my world. The real standout (in my opinion, and this is controversial!) is Caitlin FitzGerald, who plays Libby Masters, Dr. Masters’ long-suffering and completely sweet wife. The actress looks like a young Joely Richardson and she can act her ass off. I’m kind of hoping Caitlin, Lizzy, Alison and Michael all get major nominations for this show and I’m highly recommending a holiday binge-watch for all of you.
I’m also including some photos of Amber Valletta (who looks really tired), Colin Farrell (hello, sailor) and Sosie Bacon (daughter of Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon – she’s going to be Miss Golden Globe), also from this same HFPA event.

Yes! Lizzy is so wonderful and I feel like I’ve been secretly enjoying her for years because she’s been on lots of small projects. She was fantastic(actually the whole damned cast was great) on Party Down
I like caplan’s outfit, except for the shoes. But that seems to be normal this season, because I haven’t seen any interesting shoes on the carpets yet. Anywhere.
I think the prints go well together. I wish more attention were paid to the cut, though. A good cut would have made it something special.
I actually really like Lizzy’s dress! I love the houndstooth print, and it’s elegant and conservative without being frumpy. It seems appropriate to the occasion, too. It’s SOOOO nice to see a young actress without her t*ts or *ss (or both) hanging out.
She pulls it off! She’s also one of maybe TWO people where her bangs don’t make me go UGH. I think they look good on her. And I NEVER say that about blunt bangs.

Very chic dress. Love her character on M of S. Does anyone else think that the pairing of Allison Janney and the young stud doctor is a bit far fetched? I love the show, but some of the plotting (Gay Provost married to Janney) is rather far fetched. The “trip away” after Master’s wife loses her baby – funny, but to have Barry Bostwick try to seduce her after Masters left didn’t seem realistic.
I watch the show and like it, but the story line is drifting. And ofcourse she shows off her T and A. It’s Showtime! Just like HBO and other movie channels. The series shown will always have tons of nudity.

I’m watching MoS and enjoying it, but I don’t think Lizz’s is getting a nom for that. She’s good, but not outstanding, I’m sure there’s better drama actresses to go for Lead Drama Actress.
But she’ll always be Janis from Mean Girls to me, and that alone is a reason to love her forever.

@Janie – I agree, Sosie is very cute! I know this is horrible of me, but when I first saw her pic here (I’d never seen her before or even knew her name), I thought “At least she seems to have gotten a decent mix in the ‘looks’ department…”. I know I don’t have to explain that where Kevin is concerned xD But I always felt like Kyra’s features were a little ‘harsh’, & just couldn’t find her very attractive (personally).
She has a babyface too! I’d have never guessed 21.

Well, get ready to love her a lot more. She is SO awesome in this show! The first 2 or 3 eps are a tad slow, but after that, tons of juicy stuff happens and it is AWESOME!

I like when celebs take pictures in front of these types of backdrops. It gives you perspective as to their height. Going off the “Aquafina Flavorsplash” next to Amber Valletta, Lizzy Caplan is tiny!! And Colin I think is a wee bit shorter too cos Amber has her knee bent. I’m obsessed with height, that’s all.
I was looking at the wrong person! Sosie is so pretty, I love her dress. I kind of see her dad in her.
