Lady Gaga blames everyone but herself for the failure of ‘ARTPOP’, of course

wenn20914249

You know, at the end of the day, I’m glad that Lady Gaga’s ARTPOP has been such a colossal flop. And I don’t mean that in only the schadenfreude way, I mean that I’m also happy the little-monster fever has broken and that more and more people are seeing Gaga for what she is: a bag of tricks, stunts and (crack) drama. Do I think Gaga is a talented songwriter and performer? Sure. I do, actually. But I also think that the hype had to die down at some point, and better now than later. And I also think it’s high time that Gaga deserved to be called out on a lot of her crap.

As I covered a few days ago, Lady Gaga had a meltdown on littlemonsters.com where she tried to explain why ARTPOP had flopped so badly. The basic gist of Gaga’s rant: it’s everybody’s fault but hers, all of this stuff was forced on her, she just wants to be an artist but she’s surrounded by money-hungry a—holes, and her monsters just need to stick with her and let her be their goddess. Now Page Six claims that Gaga’s rant was aimed specifically at one person: her recently fired manager, Troy Carter.

Lady Gaga seemed to blame her “Artpop” disaster on her ex-manager Troy Carter in a blistering online rant, but music insiders say the real problem is her lackluster album.

Gaga parted ways with Carter in November, days before “Artpop” was due to hit shelves. Critics called the album a flop after it sold about 250,000 copies in its first week and dropped 82 percent in its second week (Beyoncé’s self-titled surprise fifth album, released in mid-December sold 618,000 copies in week one).

The singer ranted on her Web site LittleMonsters that the Terry Richardson-directed video “Do What U Want,” a duet with R&B crooner R. Kelly, has been delayed, and appeared to blame Carter for “betraying” her — even though he’d split with her before the video was made.

“It is late because, just like the [‘Artpop’ track] ‘Applause’ video . . . I was given a week to plan and execute it. It is very devastating . . . All my most successful videos were planned over a period of time when I was rested and my creativity was honored,” she wrote on Sunday.

“Those who have betrayed me gravely mismanaged my time and health and left me on my own to damage control any problems that ensued . . . Millions of dollars are not enough for some people. They want billions. Then they need trillions . . . Those who did not care about ‘Artpop’s’ success are now gone . . . I never thought after all the years of hard work that those I called friends and partners would ever care so little at a time I needed them the most.”

“She’s mad the album failed,” said our source. “At no point does she talk about the underperformance of the music . . . Everything is to blame except the music being bad.”

Gaga’s rep and Carter declined to comment. Meanwhile, we hear Red Light Management’s Coran Capshaw, who reps Alicia Keys, has reached out to manage Gaga, who’s now mostly managed by father Joe Germanotta, who reportedly gets 50 percent of her earnings. “Dad has as much say as any manager does,” we’re told.

[From Page Six]

First of all… Papa Joe gets 50%? In what GD world does a father/manager get 50%? Somewhere, Dina Lohan just lifted her head out of a vat of gin and hiccupped wildly! Dina could have been manipulating 50% out of the Cracken this whole time?! As for whoever is to blame for ARTPOP’s failure… surely there’s enough blame to go around? Ultimately, Gaga deserves the blame for making a crappy album and for hiring all of the drugged-out sycophants to follow her around and tell her she’s brilliant. I have no doubt that Gaga’s management was (and is) full of moochers and frauds, just because that seems to be the kind of people she attracts.

Anyway, the veil has been lifted and there’s no going back. People are now seeing Gaga for who she really is – a hot mess and a stunt queen.

If you’ve admitted on your own website that your album was a flop, I think your career is pretty much done.

    • Leila in wunderland says:

In 2010, when she was out with ‘Bad Romance’ and her stans were bragging about how great she is and how superior she is to other female artists, I remember saying to someone: “She won’t last a decade.” Maybe this is a sign that I was right.

  2. PunkyMomma says:

There seemed to be a bit of elegance to her when Alexander McQueen was designing her costumes. She hasn’t looked the same since his death. Her music is mediocre and she lost any momentum she had during her rehab stint (doesn’t matter if she was in rehab for the hip or drugs). It’s just not working for her anymore.

  3. Dani2 says:

For me, it’s her weakest album so far. I tried really hard to get into it, I even preferred Miley’s album to it even though she isn’t nearly as talented a musician as Gaga. I don’t hate her, I think she’s genuinely talented so I hope her next album is way better and that she learns from the mistakes made on Artpop.

    • Denise says:

How can she learn if she blames everyone but herself? Self-appointed victims don’t learn.

      • Dani2 says:

@Denise That’s very true, I like her and I think she’s way more talented than all the other major pop females so I have the tiniest little shred of hope that she will come back from this awful Artpop era.

      • Lassie says:

She is a self appointed victim and she even encourages her fans to think of themselves as victims and loners who only need her. Scary stuff.

    • Michelle says:

I agree about the album, it’s like she didn’t even try. And figured: I’m Gaga, it will sell. Two songs I love, two I like, the rest bored me to tears. I’m disappointed in her. I never loved or hated her, but her music used to be pretty solid.

And yup, Mileys was better; I love the Trap and Dubstep influences on there, very “now/current”.

    • Leila in wunderland says:

I don’t hate her either. I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with her fashion-stunt queeny- schtick and liked some of her work, but I do think she’s a little over-rated and I think her being less successful will be a humbling experience for her more hateful fans who were so rabid before. I haven’t listened to Artpop yet, but I’m hearing mostly negative reviews. I like Applause, though.

I’m hoping that Taylor Swift’s career will falter in some way too, but that’s just wishful thinking on my part. I do not like her.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I am a fan of her talent, but not everything that she does. I think she can be a REALLY great song writer. I remember Speechless, and thought that was a very well written song. When I first heard You and I (when she debuted it on the piano), I thought it was so great. I also like her humor in her dance songs, her cheekiness cracks me up (love “bluffin with my muffin”).

I think she can be lead astray by the need to prove herself as something more than just a popstar. It seems like she doesn’t have that humor anymore because she is trying so hard to be taken “seriously”. In a way, I think her relationship with the LGBT community gave her the drive to affect the world in a bigger way, which is good….but it also made her do too much navel gazing as to what she is, what she stands for, what is the deeper meaning in every damn song, etc. I think she did better when she listened to her mentors.

  4. Anna says:

My husband explain to me what ‘Mary Jane Holland’ was and the meaning behind it – about the name of a drug use (which i won’t named it on here).
When that was explained it became clear that Artpop was basically a ranting off a mad drug user, She even sing ‘Dope’ so the whole album is her getting high off her head with what substance she can find.
She need some serious time in rehab (or another fake hip surgery) and get her head sorted before embarking on a new album venture.

    • ThatGirl says:

I had to look up the meaning but I had to come back to say how absolutely ridiculous the idea of that is. Beyond ridiculous. She is and always has struck me as the very definition of a try hard.

    • Meaghan says:

‘rantings of a mad drug user’ made me laugh. Its pot, not heroin.

Also marijuana is not physically addictive. It is ‘addictive’ like people get addicted to eating mattresses and candy.

Also, on a side note, Britney looks amazing.

      • Bread and Circuses says:

No, it is physically addictive, but because THC gets into your fat cells, when you quit cold turkey, your body effectively tapers itself off the drug–the THC keeps gently leeching out of your fat and you don’t get any withdrawal symptoms.

      • Anna says:

You are incorrect. Marijuana is addictive. If you smoke it, you’re also putting yourself at risk of lung disease.

That being said, alcohol, cigarettes, and caffeine are all addictive, so I’ve never understood what it is about marijuana that makes it illegal. There are plenty of addictive/unhealthy things that are legal.

      • Anna says:

Quick correction: I went back and googled it, and it looks like more recent studies have found there isn’t a link between lung disease and smoking marijuana. I remember reading that several years ago, and my information was obviously out of date.

      • Tiffany :) says:

Anna, it is super impressive that you came back and made a correction on your own comment. Not many people have the stones to do that on the internet where you can get away with saying anything even if it is wrong! 🙂

      • Maria says:

‘addicted to eating mattresses’ – I really hope that isn’t a disguise for another meeting because it is making me laugh so bad thinking of people eating mattresses.

  5. Lucy2 says:

She chose to promote her gimmicks over her music, and novelties fade. She is a talented performer but I think her songwriting is really lacking, and people are tired of her desperation for attention. Go away for a while, strip all the nonsense away, and work on creating meaningful music.

    • klaas says:

She chose to be “Goddess of Love” and greatist artist of all time who has “albums of decades” insteed of being funny and cool popstar she used to be back in ’08. She doesn’t live up to her hype a her persona is offputting ( is that a corect word?). Simple as that.

    • ToodySezHey says:

      @Lucy2 This^

    • atorontogal says:

Totally agree Lucy2. I was just saying this to hubby the other day. All her “pay attention to me” stunts are boring now. If she stripped it all back and came out as herself, I personally think she has enough talent to make a comeback. She writes songs, plays instruments and has a good voice. She has tons more talent than other people (coughcoughgotanundeservedawardlastnightcough).

  6. Hubbahun says:

She needs to strip back all the crap and all the ‘shock’ stunts and just go with that amazing voice. Seriously, Gaga, you, jeans and tee and a piano. That is all.

    • Denise says:

She’s not clever at all. Performing with jeans, a tee and a piano would be her greatest gimmick (she couldn’t do it genuinely), but she can’t even see that because she thinks you need to bewilder and overstate in order to make an impact. She knows no subtlety, has lost her soul, and that’s why her songwriting has suffered. There’s nothing real left to draw upon. What a shame.

    • Nicolette says:

This. Her theatrics are beyond ridiculous at this point. Strip it down to the bare levels, and bring out the talent. Have people speaking about that as opposed to what crazy outfit she’s wearing.

  7. Clever hand says:

It’s just not good. Also, with the way things have been going for r Kelly, I don’t know that the do what u want video is going to help.

  8. queenfreddiemercury says:

I really don’t buy the Artpop is a flop, I mean it’s sold pretty well. It hasn’t sold as well as her previous albums (that’s true) but its sold as much as Miley and almost as much as Katy Perry and more than Britney’s new albums. I listened to Artpop and it has a few good songs but it is a mess overall.

    • Adrien says:

Same figures with Miley – on the first week. Then dropped 82% the following week.

      • queenfreddiemercury says:

It did have a huge drop the second week. But that wasn’t my point. It is still selling about even with Perry, Miley and more than Britney. Of course Beyonce is outselling them all. I not even a huge fan of gaga but other than Bey all the pop girls are selling the same amount of records. That’s why I took issue with the word flop.

    • joanne says:

@queenfreddiemercury I completely agree with you, she just needs to stop hyping herself to the level of accomplished artists like Beyonce. Gaga should have some perspective enough to acknowledge her position in the pop music industry, among Katy, Miley and Kesha. Even Britney and Christina aren’t selling Gaga’s figures (Britney Jean and Lotus peaked less than 200k), so I think the girl just needs a pinch of humility to set her ego back.

    • Meredith says:

I think it’s considered a flop because of how much money was spent making and promoting the album. It’s sold well enough, but the record company lost money on it. It’s like how a big budget movie that makes a decent amount of money but nowhere near enough to recoup its costs is considered a flop.

  9. Anthea says:

What irritates the hell out of me about her attempt to lay the blame for a substandard album is the bit about her ‘creativity being honoured’ and “Those who have betrayed me gravely mismanaged my time and health’.

I’m a commercial artist who regularly produces artwork and sketches under pressure with tight deadlines for clients who then offer criticism of the work, request changes and so forth. Apart from the odd rant to my husband, I rarely bellyache about my creativity not be honoured because, to be quite honest, I’m under less pressure than an ER surgeon, a teacher, a paedeatrician, a waitress, a policeman,, etc etc.

Creative jobs are aspirational things. She should be grateful people were prepared to invest in her creative product and should have repaid them by producing an album which matched the expectations they had of their investment, instead of believing herself to be a genius who deserves A* treatment 24/7.

    • Denise says:

      ^^This^^

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

So well said, Anthea. And I can’t stand the dramatic language about betrayal. No one is responsible for your time and health besides you. If you give away that power, you have betrayed yourself. She can’t take responsibility for anything.

  10. Alison E says:

This actually makes me really sad. I loved her back in the “Bad Romance” days, because I thought she “got it.” I imagined her going home, closing all the shades, taking off the crazy clothes, and putting on a well-loved sweatshirt two sizes two big, fleece pants, and fuzzy socks, and rolling around laughing madly about how she had ALL THE MONEY. I thought she knew very well what she was doing, the way Miley Cyrus knows very well what she’s doing. (Acting the fool because acting the fool means dollars.)

Sadly it seems Gaga fell in love with her own hype (and Miley may yet do it too, it looks like she’s learning that way).

    • hunter says:

I agree, you’ve put it best right here. Also – good to see someone else reads Miley’s antics the same as I do. 🙂

  11. Tapioca says:

I liked it – after a couple of listens it’s grown on me, although there’s a definite “try hard” vibe through most of it!

Every major artist has a commercial disappointment at some stage – American Life, anyone? – but if she hadn’t been so, so insufferable during the promotion period people would be less schaudenfreudy about this particular flop.

  12. blue marie says:

Lady Gaga is an artist, a con-artist..

  13. bns says:

She has basically fired or parted ways with everyone who was involved in her career during The Fame Monster when she was at her best. It’s just not looking good for her anymore.

People called her the next Madonna, but honestly she’s the next Marilyn Manson.

    • Lalique says:

She is the next Marilyn Manson. He was huge when he came out and had a big following & then it just got old. Same with Gaga.

  14. Frida_K says:

“Papa Joe gets 50%? In what GD world does a father/manager get 50%? Somewhere, Dina Lohan just lifted her head out of a vat of gin and hiccupped wildly! Dina could have been manipulating 50% out of the Cracken this whole time?! ”

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA………..!!!!!

I can totally see this…and while DUIna hiccups, Lucifer’s Homegirl probably is snickering and thinking “50%? Amateurs!” because she not only takes her daughters’ cut … she also takes their SOULS.

  15. Honeybea says:

when Gaga first came out, I thought she was the coolest thing
ever. now I shake my head at every move she makes. Highly unoriginal, she recycles everyone ART. and she really pissed
me off by collaborating with R.Kelly. urgh

  16. BendyWindy says:

I seem to be the only person who likes ARTPOP. 🙁

It’s a little self indulgent and would have been better at 10 songs rather than 15, but I like it.

    • glaugh says:

      I like it too.

There’s a part in Jewel n Drugs that got stuck in my head the other night. That song is a mess but that part where the song sort of slows down/changes tune is so catchy, she should have made it the chorus instead of “dont want your jewels I want your drugs”

  17. gg says:

Gaga needs to go to some rehab where they teach her how to write decent thoughtful prosey lyrics instead of the garbage she usually writes about her hairstyle and not very clever plays on words like Mary Jane Holland. I think her playing and singing abilities are wonderful but the lyrics are just incredibly stupid. And I don’t normally pay any attention to lyrics. Has to be really bad before I even notice. The lyrics are not clever at all, very juvenile.

  18. Cece says:

Now she just looks ridiculous! Like some child back in the 50’s grabbing old crap to dress up for hollowen. Thats “Art” ? Damn! we are all artists!

Oh,and Kayne’s Bound 2 (whatever) video starring the most beautiful women in the world, that was “Art” too. Did these peoole all have really bad closed head injuries or is it the drugs? Kim’s excuse….oh, $$$$$$ + $$$$$ and more $$$$$$$$

  19. Eleonor says:

The hugest “I told you so” will arrive from her pal Elton John.

  20. Pri says:

When she first came out, I think I’d heard the pokerface track first, and honestly, I didn’t like her. Those garish outfits and stupid steps – it was a really bad video in all. I couldn’t stand her. But then I had heard a stripped version of this song and I was blown away by her daring to do it stripped (the song, not her!), her range, quality of voice, and the simplified manner of the song. She was good. Still is. But she’s lost. She wants to dominate the world by her presense rather than her music. I think Bey and Shakira (Christina Aguilera and Enrique Igleases as well) do it well. They make amazing songs. Something for everyone… Slow ballads, pop songs, dance songs..everything. I still love their earlier songs…something to reminisce about. These people have stood the test of time and are hugely talented. Gaga just needs to get her head out of her arse and things will be alright.

  21. MynameisPeaches! says:

I find it odd how Gaga went on and on about how she was in control of her career and that she called the shots but now Artpop is a flop it’s everybody’s else is fault. She hasn’t accepted any responsibility for the fact that the buck stops with her. She’s the artist and the decisions ultimately come down to her. At the end of the day a singer can pull out all the silly stunts they want but if the music is under par people are not going to buy it. It’s the music that counts.

  22. Nancy says:

Hopefully she can go away forever now.

    • Prophet says:

Agreed, this is great news. I hope this talentless hack disappears soon. Please lord, let this be the beginning of the end.

  23. ToodySezHey says:

What do you mean people are “finally seeing”??

She always was a hot mess and a stunt queen. That broad’s thirst is unquenchable!

I also suspect that half of her schtick is her insecurity. I still have only seen like 10 pictures of her face where it isnt half hidden and unadorned, that chick is still hella insecure with her looks if you ask me. She copies Madonna so hard but Madonna didnt need to pull half the fvkcery GaGa does because Madonna isnt busted in the face, and doesnt look like an angry turnip.

Just kidding, Gaga is no beauty queen but she isnt a donkey either, and she has enough people around her that can work with what she has.

    • Jenna says:

^^^ This, exactly. The first and only thing that ran through my head reading this was “What veil? She’s been an openly, desperate attention whore since day one. Who DIDN’T know that?” Don’t get me wrong, I have enjoyed a lot of her songs (can’t watch any of the videos though, the constant strobing, cut away fast shifts in perspective cause an almost instantaneous migraine to hit – and my doctor will only prescribe 8 pills per refill.) and I DO think she is a somewhat talented songwriter and performer. But she has insisted from the start in burying that under tons of sctick and attempting to call it high art. And… I’m not really sure an artist CAN make the call as to what they are creating. The painter holding the brush doesn’t get to announce it is a classical masterpiece that will be revered and studied for centuries to come – and a musician/performance artist doesn’t really get to be the one who makes the call as to if their songs will be ‘life changing’ for others. They can be proud of their work, they can think its the best they have ever done… but no one can decree how their own work will be received or effect anyone else on any large scale. Just loudly and incessantly shouting “I’m God’s Gift” out of a window doesn’t make it true. Just annoys the neighbors and makes people want to throw bricks.

  24. LilyT says:

It’s true, the Gaga hype has come to an end.. The over dramatized theatrics are making everyone pukey. While I agree she is a talented musician, she kept up her shtick too long. Regardless what you think of her on a personal level, Beyonce’s vocal talent speaks for itself, without a constant circus production. It’s the kind of talent that can stand on it’s own, hence the success of her surprise album. Gaga would be wise to take note.

    • Katija says:

A gay friend of mine and I were once watching a live performance of Gaga on YouTube. She does these long speeches where she fake cries and rambles ON and ON about the “It Gets Better” stuff.

I seriously spit out my wine when my VERY gay friend said, deadpan, “this b*** is making me homophobic.”

  25. TheOneandOnlyOnly says:

    First, what’s with the last pic ripping off Boy George; does Gaga know how popular and fun they were in the 80s when they came out;
Second, someone should print out all these postings from recent Gaga threads and send them to her maybe she could learn something.
Third, I never bought that she was super talented in anything – average yes. Ray Manzarek, Jim Morrison’s keyboard player, recently passed away. Now he had talent, and The Doors are played everywhere (hell, my son bought me a vinyl two disc live set from the 70 tour.)
Gaga’s music is weak and only for clubs and working out – club music is fickle and short-lived – Boy George and The Doors will be played a lot longer than this narcissistic played out trick could ever hope.
And isn’t her lousy song writing a result of a lack of imagination and narcissism. When you’re wrapped up in your own childish ego, it’s pretty hard to write imaginatively about the wide world. John Fogerty she is not.

  26. Jem says:

I could care less about the stunts and that stuff; I just like her music, simple as that. To workout to, to drive to… So I optimistically bought Artpop, ignoring any criticism. Turns out, the critics were right: the music is just not that good at all this time around. I was really and truly disappointed: I am starting a running program in 2014, and needed the tunes! (I went with Eminem’s new album instead; it’s AWESOME). There are 3 listen-able songs on the whole Artpop album, and even then, they pale in comparison to her earlier work. The rest of the album is intolerably bad. As a fan, this whole mess should have never been released to begin with….. And yes, I totally blame HER for it. 100%.

She needs to take some time off, go away for awhile, sober up, and burn all those damn annoying wigs. Cut the crap and stick to the business.

    • Nev says:

      you need Britney’s Blackout Album!!!!!!

      • Katija says:

I don’t want to get killed for promoting illegal downloading, but once you have legally purchased Blackout, try to get your hands on the unreleased tracks that are unavailable for purchase. Tracks like “Outta This World” are freaking AMAZING. Blackout has this weird, hectic, desperate energy that you can tell wasn’t necessarily intentional – really captures the crazy nature of that dark phase of her life in a really subtle way. THAT’S what taking your pain and turning it into art looks like, Gaga. Everything doesn’t have to be so literal and intentional.

      • Nev says:

        @Katija

        WORD.

you totally get the energy of that cd…sooooooo dark and desperate ( a perfect word)!!!
gonna look for that lost track, thanks!!!

      • Lalique says:

        Blackout is a great album.

      • Jayna says:

Blackout is a great album. I remember sitting down at my computer to listen to it, thinking what a trainwreck this is going to be, and I remember sitting there listening to it just stupefied and blown away all at once. In the midst of Britney’s breakdown damn if she didn’t go and put out an amazing album.

    • Jayna says:

You have to get Arcade Fire’s Reflektor. Great running music. It’s a double album,, but on iTunes it’s one.

      Here’s the full album:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPWrFHySSyo

  27. lisa2 says:

Was it Elton that said she had become a gimmick or something to that affect.

everything about her as someone above noted..several infact is the costumes. and shock value pics. I don’t think there was much interest in her music after that. She needed to decide what she was going to be. If he like the theater of music then go on stage.

I find her very boring now. With ever costume I just turn away. .

  28. Meggin says:

Her music can really be awful. Some songs are fun to workout to but overall, she is not the ‘artist’ she thinks she is. Ridiculous.

  29. Katija says:

I hated Gaga since she dressed as a man at the VMAs. Not because I have an issue with gender or any of that, but she behaved like such an attention whore while in that costume. She made Britney’s Michael Jackson Award moment completely about her, she mugged at the camera, basically went out of her way to steal everyone else’s moments.

With someone like Beyonce or Britney Spears, they don’t NEED to whore themselves for attention. They enter the screen and all eyes naturally go to them. It’s effortless, and that’s a huge part of their appeal. With Gaga, “effort” is the name of the game. She’s an attention whore who got a lucky break with a few catchy songs that I’m quite sure time will forget.

  30. Carolyn says:

Kaiser, brilliantly summarised. Couldn’t have said it better.

The cynic in me thinks all this over the top crap by Gaga is paving the way for an unplugged/back to basics next career move…either way, I couldn’t care less about her now.

I’m over this over-processed, over-hyped nonsense. Am listening to Fleetwood Mac in the car as a protest.

  31. allheavens says:

When everyone was calling her the “second coming” and thought she would surpass Madonna and Bey, I just smiled and nodded.

I knew was a decent singer, with a few decent pop tunes but the whole “circus has come to town” performance art would began to fray quickly.

1: These days you cannot have the kind of sustained career as Madonna or even Bey if you are doing drugs.

2: You have to be able to reinvent yourself, constantly, unless you have a voice like Aretha, Whitney. Garland or Streisand, the touched by God voices.

3.: You have to be able to put aside ego and discern what is good material and what is not.

4: You have to have a handle on your finances, at ALL times. Anyone at her level who gives away 50 percent of their income to management is dumber than a dirt fence.

    • Missykittens says:

Hahaha! the way you phrased “I just smiled and nodded” had me in tears! But I know exactly what you mean, and I thought the same thing about Katy Perry when she first hit the scene because she kept wearing all these gimmicky costumes, card-player outfits. Eventually she started dressing a bit more normal, which increased her power. People want celebrities to be genuine, people you can relate to and form a sort of personal connection to, even from a distance, and if you are essentially casting yourself as a production, then people don’t make that connection.

  32. LeAnn Stinks says:

Oh Ga Ga, get over yourself.

  33. silly you says:

she’s sorta right. most people thought her album sucked so they didn’t buy it.

i really like “do what u want” and “applause” … it is like the EROTICA era Madonna had. People really thought she was over, but it was a serviceable album… Just not “Like a Prayer” level huge hit. Hopefully Gaga can overcome this and bring back the fun.

Artpop is nothing like the Erotica era. The reason why people said Madonna was over is because she overexposed herself literally and figuratively. There was the Erotica album, The SEX book and that movie Body of Evidence. All that at once was too much for people. Artpop is a subpar album that’s about it.

Erotica is an absolutely amazing album. Glenn Close calls it a masterpiece. Her antics overshadowed this sophisticated album about eroticism, love, love lost, betrayal, death, etc. I wish she would make sophisticated music like this again.

A couple years ago Gaga performed for former Pres Clinton at his sixty something birthday at the Hollywood Bowl. No costumes, she just szng and danced. She wore a lovely beige pant outfit, and she was so good. They must have insisted that she look normal for the occasion, but anyway, i was very impressed. If only she would do that now. But alas, she does not see it.

From what I remember from last nights episode of “American Dad” on “Adult Swim”, non-verbatim. Roger the Alien is playing an alter-ego disco artist and he is having a party with his friends. The phone rings and his manager calls in, he automatically puts him on loud speaker so his friends hear him. Roger asks him how many albums have been sold, his manager says ninety, ninety-million Roger enthusiastically replies, no ninety the manager exclaims, he says please turn off the loud speaker but Roger refuses. Rogers manager goes on to say while his friends hear it: Discos dead and you’re broke! Rogers friends disappear as soon as that was heard.

I think this is how Lady Ga Ga is hearing this, she may be in total denial that people are not liking her music and her fans are moving on. There was a lot of hype that she made about her latest album but it fell flat, she can blame everyone in the world. Like Roger, her music with all the hype failed to gain a foothold with her followers and was panned the critics and that does not seem to register with her.

Even many of her diehard fans are saying stop whining. Just explain why the video isn’t released yet and not all this blaming everyone for the album’s problems.

And I absolutely don’t buy her complaining about the video, only being given two weeks’ notice. Gaga is no dummy. She has put out plenty of albums and singles. She knew exactly when it would be time for the second single and about when she would need to start working on the video for it. She should have been working on it in her head for months anyway, a concept, and talking with collaborators. What a pity party she throws.
