Gaspard Ulliel, Ralph Fiennes at ‘Budapest’ premiere: who would you rather?

I was looking through these photos of the French premiere of the new Wes Anderson film, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and admiring Ralph Fiennes’ furry beard. Then I chanced upon Gaspard Ulliel!! Oh, my Frenchman. My love for Vincent Cassel is well-known, but I would probably toss Cassel overboard for a chance with Gaspard. He is my undercover French crush. Unlike Vincent, Gaspard doesn’t do a lot of work in English-language films, although his English is superb. His big English-language film was Hannibal, the origin-story of Hannibal Lector, where he played the young psychopath with aplomb. Since then, he’s filled out nicely and he’s currently a well-known actor and model in France. He’s the current face of Bleu de Chanel.

So, would I hit it? Of course. Then I would bang Ralph Fiennes and his beard. Then I would go back to Gaspard. Honestly, I could spend years with Ralph and Gaspard. Sigh. Also: I want to see The Grand Budapest Hotel SO MUCH. It’s so rare that Ralph does anything comedic, and the trailer is so wonderful and weird.

Oh, and apparently Gaspard has already filmed a Yves Saint Laurent bio-pic, with Gaspard playing the iconic designer. There’s another, budget version making the rounds right now, but everybody is waiting for Gaspard’s version.

No offense Ralph, but a hot Frenchman is hard to beat.

    • Zadie says:

If they don’t speak. I so don’t like the language.
Out of curiosity, are any Slavic or Hungarian actors playing Slavic and Hungarian characters or did they just use Brits and Americans with the stereotypical heavy Russian accent, as per usual?

      • LadySlippers says:

What?!? You mean the Hungarians and Slavs don’t have a Russian accent?!? OMG Zadie, I think you just…

        *falls dead*

        😉

      • SonjaMarmeladova says:

Oh, Zadie, you reminded me of the stupid Katharine McPhee movie “You May Not Kiss The Bride” where the main characters were a Croatian mob family ( because of course, we’re either the mob, prostitutes or butch nannies ) – they had Russian names, Russian surnames, Russian accents, spoke Russian words and listened to Turkish music. I just didn’t understand why they couldn’t at least give them Croatian names, Annoying, but funny.

        @Sonja E-X-A-C-T-L-Y.

I turned off “Water for elephants” after hearing Robert Pattinson’s allegedly polish parents speaking with goddamn american accent. As if there weren’t enough foreign actors in America.

  2. Deb says:

Oooo Gaspard tres yummy. Vive le France

  3. RALPH, RALPH, RALPH, RALPH, RALPH…all the way! He is a skeevy, dirty, pretty man……I would climb him like a tree.

Btw, are you guys going to cover the interview that Liam Neeson just did about Natasha?? My poor husband 🙁

  4. JaDeRu says:

Ralph looks like Robin Williams here. I don’t really care so much for the french guy either, although his eyes are pretty. And his erm…jeans. Yeah I like his jeans. And the polka dots on his collar. Fine you win, I’ll go with Gaspard. Twist my arm why don’t ya.

    • LadySlippers says:

I think Ralph looks more like Mr Rogers here. So while Ralph is usually on my ‘Forever Dong List’ I’m gonna have to ask him to hang Mr Rogers sweater in the closet. More so I can wear it after….

      But the Frenchmen? Tres hot.

  5. Lark says:

These aren’t the most flattering pics of Gaspard, but I would hit it a million times.

  6. QQ says:

Jeebus! that guy is insanely Hot! I wanna hit it like it did me wrong!

  7. blue marie says:

I have a spot for both but Gaspard first!

  8. LAK says:

    Gaspard! Any time, every day!

  9. Froop says:

I’m glad Ralph has let his hair grow back in, and I can’t WAIT to see this film. It looks so damn weird and hilarious.

  10. davidbowie says:

Oh my…Gaspard where have you been all my life?!? Yum.

  11. LadySlippers says:

Oh my goodness. How is it no ones commented on Gaspard’s… jeans???

    Oh my.

  12. Em' says:

Well, I wouldn’t exactly call the current version of Yves Saint Laurent budget.

And it is quite succesful at the boxoffice : almost 1.5 millions tickets sold (we count box offices in tickets, not €) wich is pretty good in France.
Moreover the acting is quite simply incredible. Pierre Niney is doing an amazing job : he IS Yves Saint Laurent. When I get out of the theatre I couldn’t help thinking that it will be very hard, even impossible, for Gaspard to top this performance.

  13. dizzylucy says:

Neither is doing much for me here, but I am DYING to see this film. I saw a trailer for it a while ago, and laughed so hard I think I scared other people in the theater. I love Anderson’s movies, the humor is right up my alley and I love his visual style.

  14. Cleo says:

“There’s another, budget version making the rounds right now, but everybody is waiting for Gaspard’s version. ” I’m sorry but …no. That movie is a HUGE success in France and it has been sold in many foreign countries (I think Weinstein has acquired the rights for the US). Pierre Niney, who plays Saint Laurent in the film, is absolutely amazing in it. He’s one of the most talented young French actors and he became quite a star in the past months.
I really like Gaspard and I admire Bertrand Bonnello’s work but it’s difficult to be interested in their project since the first movie was great and opened very recently.

    • manta says:

Second to that. And I’d add that Niney and Gallienne who play Saint-Laurent and Bergé are two members of the Comédie Française.
Bergé lended the authentic Saint-Laurent dresses and costumes for this film, not for the flick with Ulliel, so can’t see what’s budget about it.

  15. Sara says:

Ralph is my number one man. I adore him with hair or without. He is the ultimate and I love that he some perv mixed in with classy shyness. The things I would do…(sigh)

    • mayamae says:

You know Ralph has got “it” when he came to fame playing an outright monster in Schindler’s List, and yet woman sigh over him. It can be difficult to rid yourself of that impression.

  16. magpie says:

I like Gaspard but he looks nothing like YSL. Niney really does and he got great reviews so I doubt the second one will do as well.

  17. loveisthecoal says:

I LOVE Gaspard Ulliel. LOOOOOOVE. Anyone who hasn’t seen it needs to watch A Very Long Engagement.

  18. Lipsy says:

I forgot all about Gaspard because we don’t hear of him… I forgot how beautiful he is. Please have more pictures of him! Thank you.

  19. Cel says:

He was awesome in A Very Long Engagement. He and Audrey Tautau (sp?) are just amazing together.

  20. Mary says:

Kaiser I always trust you to bring in the hotties Gaspard its gorgeous! ive been crushing on him since that audrey tautou movie they did together

  21. dahlianoir says:

Gaspard, without a doubt. Love myself some dimple <3

    • Lempicka says:

I think his dimples on one side is actually a scar?

Makes him look even more interesting.
would go full on for the serial-killer-type menue here: hot english breakfast followed by a long frensh course…

  22. ashley says:

These pictures does him no justice,he’s mesmerizing in that bleu de chanel commercial!! Hot!!!

  23. mebee says:

He looks like a wax museum figure in every single picture!
