I saw that many of you were talking about Chelsea Handler in yesterday’s Angelina Jolie post. You do know that every time you mention Chelsea in the same breath as Angelina, that’s a victory for Chelsea right? Surprising no one, Chelsea Handler was not invited to the Oscars, although I bet she could have scored an invitation to the Vanity Fair party if she really wanted to go. She didn’t. Instead, she took a gig with the Huffington Post, where she live-tweeted the Oscars from their HuffPo Twitter handle. As you can imagine, Chelsea was incredibly racist, cracking “jokes” about Sidney Poitier being Nelson Mandela and how Angelina Jolie was going to “adopt” Lupita Nyong’o.

Stay classy, Chelsea. The thing is… this is not shocking whatsoever. Even if you have only a passing interest in Chelsea Handler or you’ve only watched her show a handful of times, you know what she’s all about. She makes racist “jokes” all the time. That’s her shtick. She thinks that being offensive is the same as being funny. If she was sitting on her own Twitter feed and doing this stuff, I would be like, “Yeah, obviously. The sky is blue.” It bugs me that HuffPo invited her to tweet from their feed. That was a horrible call by HuffPo. AND THE TWEETS ARE STILL UP. Which compounds the error in judgment.

I have watched her show numberous times (mostly because I like the comedians she has on…they are much funnier than she is). All she does is show up and give weird faces. I can’t believe how much money she gets paid to do that. I have noticed the show seems to be getting lazier and lazier, they are no longer making a real effort to be creative or incredibly funny.
It’s a bit like a petulant toddler trying to get a parent/anyone’s attention.
Only with added vitriol.

yep, a night that was not about Angelina was all about Angelina in her head.
That’s what I don’t get. I could see bringing up Angelina (if someone WAS going to bring her up like this), if it had been Angelina who was nominated for an Oscar, or was in a film that had been nominated. She wasn’t.
She was the DATE–the plus one, of someone who was nominated. Who chose a very simple, non-assuming, somewhat matronly (as others have said) gown that needed a belt—to ensure that she didn’t make ANY waves i.e. didn’t want to take focus off the FILM and PEOPLE that were nominated.
And she didn’t do anything silly like stick out her leg again, etc. All she did was look sufficiently loved up with Brad AND Sidney Poitier (my mom would be so jealous, she’s always said that Sidney Poitier should’ve been my father–she’s a HUGE fan), and present an award.
So Chelsea–for those who DIDN’T think/know this, comes off as a stalker for making a night about Angelina, when it wasn’t even about her. But I guess SOMEONE’S gotta earn those Break Up Margarita’s and Cabo trip SOMEHOW.
I don’t think she is any more bff with aniston then she is with Bullock, Witherspoon, Theron, and anyone else who has been on her show. The bloids tend to call everyone bffs if they are photographed together. I know they vacationed together in the past but haven’t heard of aniston hanging with her in the past couple of years and I wouldn’t blame aniston if she was distancing herself from Handler since she seems to keep putting her foot in her mouth.

Jennifer was on Chelsea’s show in August 2013–so seven months ago. Sure, it’s entirely possible that they aren’t friends anymore (‘broke up’ in those seven months), but that doesn’t invalidate the crap that Chelsea’s been saying about Angelina for FOUR years–while being besties with Jennifer.

Virgilia, I LOVE how Brad and AJ can both say they are Oscar winners… While you know who still desperately clings to her 90s fame (yes, I went there, the triangle of doom…). I bet that made Handler absolutely livid. I’m beginning to think that not only does she viciously attack AJ to suck up to Aniston, but she also attacks her because she’s jealous of her. AJ is everything Handler is not – gracious, selfless, beautiful and kind to everyone she meets (seriously, I don’t recall reading one story where AJ was rude/ignorant to regular folk).
All of this just makes Handler look like a tool.

I thought Brad would be a lot more emotional–I’m sure what with all the crap he’s gone through with Paramount for the past year, and winning his first Oscar at 50–that’s a lot. I know that if it was ME, I’d be up there crying. Because the minute I even get the tiniest bit emotional, I start crying. So I’d be bawling…..but maybe he got more *excited* in private….
And here’s the thing–it’s all Jennifer. I do think that. You know those celebrity bios that certain entertainment networks do??? Where they have the comedians talk about them? I’ve seen a lot of those–they’re on youtube–of Brad, Angelina, and various other celebs I’m interested in. Chelsea was in a few of them, and she was talking about how hot Brad was, and on her show, BEFORE she fell into bed with CAA, she talked about how gorgeous Angelina was.
I shared a link down below with GoodNamesAllTaken–where it details (from CB) how many times Handler has gone off on Angelina. Here’s the thing–Chelsea had her show for TWO years before she started in on Angelina–at the end of those two years she signed onto CAA, and had Jennifer on as her guest for that crappy movie ‘Love Happens’…. that’s when she started in on the ‘Angelina is a homewrecking, non girl’s girl, c-nt’….she had no issues with it in the two years BEFORE she and Jennifer became friends. So why is it an issue now?
It comes off as creepy–because here’s what most people are missing (when The View was discussing it, they said that it’s not Chelsea’s call)—Chelsea didn’t even know any of the parties when sh-t went down–so why is she so fixated on someone who has NO connection to her–and she also talks about Angelina in PERSONAL interviews–so it’s not just professional either. It comes off as creepy–and it makes Jennifer look pathetic because she’s friends with someone who brings that kind of mess to her door–mess that she says she hates–remember when she said the biggest misconception about her was that they were in some sort of triangle??? Being friends with Chelsea does nothing to disprove that.
And yes–I agree with you about the Oscars thing….that’s probably why Jennifer and Justin haven’t been seen or heard from since their vacation in December. Which I can see WHY–but still. You’re 45 years old, and have plenty of TIME and MONEY to become Oscar nominated (by producing/directing) if you really wanted to.

I had no idea Handler used to praise Brad and AJ! And so not surprised by that either. I kind of figured that her friendship with Aniston took off after they both became clients of CAA. I think their friendship is more “business” (how do I explain this… being friends with another celebrity only because it helps you out in some way, NOT because you actually care for them). I think Aniston is likely more of a beyotch in real life than we think she is, but even now I still don’t understand why she’d want to be friends with someone like Handler. Handler just doesn’t seem like someone who’d be a good friend. Sure, even my girlfriends and I can be pretty raunchy with girl talk when we get together, but the thing is, we don’t do take it to the next level AND say it publicly as well like Handler does. She has no couth. Her jokes aren’t funny.
Edit: I wonder if Aniston ever has had her sites set on getting on Oscar. To me, she’s not someone who is terribly ambitious. She has her routine and the things she likes and never seems to stray from them. She seems to only choose movies that get her the attention she craves, and not movies that improve her acting skills (as for the Good Girl, that was over a decade ago and there’s been nothing like it since).

I could’ve sworn that Jennifer said she wanted an Oscar, but I can’t find anything to support that, so it might’ve been a figment of my imagination. On one hand I agree with you, but on the other hand, a person would think that someone who has her name recognition and money would *want* to do something that is Oscar worthy. As far as the Oscars go, I couldn’t care less if any one of my favorite actors won one–I mean, I think it’s a nice thing–but they’re my favorite because I think that they’ve already put out very good performances–Oscar worthy performances (not all, but you get what I mean).
I don’t think that’s the case with Jennifer–to me, she is a terrible actress–and I would think that she would want to do something with her career, so that it isn’t particularly newsworthy that she gets headlines for going to Cabo EVERY YEAR, and weeks of speculation and articles about a stupid haircut. That’s sad, imo, that that’s all the media can talk about with her–vacations and haircuts. Not about her films, what she’s doing outside of her film work–nothing. She’s someone who gave out two different reasons, and at least two interviews on why she cut her hair–and she wasn’t even promoting a film or anything like that.

Yes, you’d think that someone with her “star power” and wealth WOULD want an Oscar (granted, she did win an Emmy for Friends, so there’s that). But I reiterate – to me, she’s just not that ambitious. It’s like you said, we all talk about her hair, Justin, Cabo vacations, laugh at the silly movies she’s in that only get press because of her body….. And I think she’s happy with that, because it keeps her on everyone’s radar. I’m actually not an Aniston hater, I feel pretty neutral about her (although I do LOVE Angelina Jolie, always have). But it does irk me that someone with the ability to strive further in life doesn’t do that. But, everyone’s life is their own, so who am I to talk. I get wanting to go to Cabo every year (I could sure to go Cabo right now, this friggin’ snow will not let up), but it’s pretty telling that have rarely seen her go on vacation to other countries.

The thing is–she is ambitious. But I think she’s too lazy to do something about it. She started her own production company with her partner–who apparently has enough time to do interviews with her (she talked to the interviewers of Vanity Fair and Vogue), but not to produce any films—and said that the production company (that she got a bunch of options from Plan B when she got divorced) was created to make films to ’empower’ women…except all she’s done is exec. produce her own crappy films. And TALK about how she’s going to produce/direct her own films–case in point: Goree Girls. That’s been on the drawing board for at least 6-8 years. She has enough money to finance the whole film herself–I don’t get why she doesn’t do that. I don’t think she wants to take risks–she’ll only direct something if she gets paid to do so i.e. that Lifetime short that she directed.
I wish she would do *something*. A ton of women in Hollywood would KILL for her name recognition, so that they could get their films made and paid attention to–simply because of their name. I do hope she goes into directing and producing–but she’s 45 and has been talking about it for the past ten years. She’s not a baby–she should know what she wants by now.
And even if she wasn’t ambitious–surely someone of HER name recognition and monetary worth could afford to wait until a decent rom com came out, or hired someone to write one–I saw the trailer for Wanderlust and couldn’t even imagine WHAT possessed her to sign onto that film—the trailer looked like a hot mess.

I watched a biography about Handler when she was on top of her game and she intrigued me enough to watch her show. Her appeal lasted only a couple months but I got the impression that she’s wild and a LOT of fun to be around when you want to party hard.
I don’t think it’s shocking that these women are friends. Handler, Charlize, Aniston, Witherspoon, Paltrow and Cameron Diaz all live expensive lifestyles, enjoy getting a little (or a lot) fukced up* and though I’m not sure about Cameron, the rest seem like and/or do have reputations of being petty elitists. That’s enough to cement a bond between anyone. Lol

It seems like an odd match. None of us know for certain. Maybe Sandra didn’t know her husband as well as she thought she did. He’d been in the public eye for awhile and it took them time to dig up some of that stuff on him. A lot of them bought the idea that he was a changed man, and maybe he was for a short time before his true colours reared their ugly head again.
@toot: Sandra Bullock has been acknowledged by pretty much everyone she has worked with, from the fancy talent ALL the way down to the regular people crew, as being incredibly nice and caring. She’s been generous with her time and money for years but never toots her own horn about about it. Her ex husband is a total waste of space, but she’s earned the benefit of the doubt. And there are many, many individuals out there who wouldn’t particularly like their characters judged on the basis of who their ex-romantic partners turned out to be.

I somewhat disagree on the validation part.
I get that by commenting and paying attention to what Handler says, that feeds into it. More outlets will cover it, we complain about it, she says/does something else equally stupid, and the cycle continues.
But here’s the thing–we’re only commenting on a gossip site. We’re (at least I’m not) not going onto her site, buying her books, buying tickets to her show, watching her show, etc. THAT is what validates her.
How’s her show doing???–I heard the ratings were slipping, and don’t care enough to look it up.
I read (gossip) stories about celebrities that I don’t care for, or don’t even think about–and I comment on them. That doesn’t validate their being (as a celebrity/actor)–all that means is that I like reading gossip about pretty much anyone. What does validate them is buying tickets to see their movies, and so on.
So I don’t think that commenting on Chelsea Handler is going to make her go away any faster or slower. She’ll go away when the people who watch her show, buy tickets to her standup/books, stop doing so. Not before.

Whenever I’ve heard people say that Handler is friends with someone (on this site at least), it’s because they’ve been seen outside of the show, hanging out. Chelsea’s hung out with Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Sandra Bullock, and Charlize Theron–outside of doing her show.
Maybe it was a CAA car that picked her up to take her to the party, and Sandra’s car was the one that happened to pick her up.

It allows Aniston to keep her little “Girl-Next-Door” hands clean and “classy” because she is so above it all. Bulls#it.
Oh, Jen clearly LOVES it. A couple of years back, Handler introed Aniston by mocking Angelina’s children, their race, and Shiloh’s (a 4 year old at the time!) sexuality, and one time, called Angelina a c – and on cue, Aniston walked on, grinning like a Cheshire cat. That happened twice, that she was introed like that by Handler. So if she had a problem with it the first time, she never stopped Handler, thus the second time. There is no doubt at all that Aniston eggs her on to make these remarks. No doubt at….all!

God this woman is vile and disgusting and something should be done about her and her show. People should boycott E until they fire Chelsea and take are show off the air. She is a another Paula Dean and should also be publicly prosecuted and lose her job etc. People should start a mass tweet to get her fired or something like that.
I also judge people like Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Charlize Theron & Sandra Bullock who are all friends with her. Jennifer I dont give a shit about and is pathetic anyway and I dont care about Reese but Sandra and Charlize are equally disgusting since they have adopted black children and still are friends with this woman. I dont care if they are from the same agent (CAA) or that they have a mutual agreement to support etc – this is pathetic. I havent watched any Sandra or Charlize movies after finding out they are associated with this trash and many should follow suit so that they can see how their friendship with Chelsea is disgusting and harming them.

It is her choice to make frequent negative, insensitive jabs aimed at the race of a person. Racist jokes simply rub lots of persons the wrong way. She is now close to a female version of Rush Limbaugh.

I agree. This is not even about women tearing down other women. She is one of the most negative people in the entertainment industry. She has quite a bit of public persuasion and look at how she uses her influence. On trash and vitriol, demeaning actual good people, while promoting fellow trash. She seems to be great at taking attention away from things with real meaning, like AJ’s years of effort towards eradicating poverty and injustice. Instead she puts attention on the possibility that AJ was a homewrecker. AND NEVER LET’S IT GO. I don’t get her obsession. It’s creepy and makes her come off as completely insane, insecure, and hateful. She is so self absorbed. She may come publicly as proud of her antics, but sometimes I wonder how much of personal shame is intermingled with that “pride”.
Chelsea must feel incredibly low self esteemed and unaccomplished in life to write or say such stupid things. She’s not funny. Maybe she knows that and that’s way she does such things. So, I haven’t been a fan of Handlers. I did watch her interview at the Makers Conference and I have to say that I was really won over by her work with young women, that I didn’t know about and her general demeanor. It made me decide to watch her a little more carefully.
I can’t reconcile the person in this interview with the one who made these dumb jokes. I don’t think Angelina is above being the object of humor. Chelsea just can’t make Angelina funny. You’d think she’d learned that by now.

Is it just me, or has there been an absence of photos of Chelsea Handler and Jennifer Aniston? They were tight for a while there, and it felt like Handler talked about Aniston a lot… and then nothing. She wasn’t even a part of the NY trip to Mexico. It looks like Aniston returned back into Courtney Cox’s fold – anyone else getting the feeling that the Aniston-Handler friendship has cooled off a lot?
I’m thinking so too–the last time Jennifer was on Chelsea’s show, was to promote ‘We’re the Miller’s’–back in August 2013. So the next time Jennifer has a movie come out, then we’ll see if they’re still friends. Because Jennifer goes on the show all the time–to promote her films, and she’s done it a few times for no apparent reason at all.
I would wonder if the cooling off period had to do with how foolish Chelsea Hander looked, in my opinion, by calling a person a ‘demon’ and ‘not a girl’s girl’, shortly before said person revealed to the world that she had undergone a double mastectomy, and highlighted the fact that women’s health is being treated callously by the government and insurance companies. And got the media to talk about women’s health for a good month—I still see a few articles here and there pop up, mentioning Angelina–on yahoo.
But who knows if they were just keeping a low profile, but still being friends. Jennifer went to Cabo, what, twice???? this year? And Chelsea wasn’t at Thanksgiving… Chelsea didn’t go either times–so it could either be that they’re not as close as they once were, or they were trying to wait a while before doing something like THIS^^^^^^…who knows??
I thought after the double mastectomy, Chelsea would keep her trap shut–but I was wrong. So I vote on them just wanting to keep quiet about it for a little bit, until the public forgot. We have no clue how often they hang out in private–and for all we know, Chelsea had stuff to do during the vacations/Thanksgiving.
Its a lot more than that – the Aniston-Handler friendship really started up when the Aniston-Cox friendship noticeably cooled. Cox and Handler represent 2 VERY different lifestyles: Cox is essentially a Hollywood mom, and hangs with that crew, who have kids and families. While Handler is a HARD partier, who has made no bones about sleeping her way to her job. Supposedly Aniston and Cox fell out over Cox’s divorce and the way she immediately hooked up with a co-star, and then Aniston partied her way throigh the last few years with another designated single person.

After watching the Oscars, I was really impressed with how warm, friendly, and gracious Angelina Jolie was. She was very kind with Sidney Poitier and then so animated when they were taking the selfie. I like her so much more now!
As for Chelsea Handler, it must be awful to have your entire career be about being vulgar and rude. I imagine it can wear on the soul to contribute only to the negativity of the world.

Not sure if your comment was serious. She can be funny only when things are scripted. She can’t do extemporaneous jokes (as evident in her tweets). She just says insulting stuff which she perceives as funny. I’ve seen Kathy Griffin and Sarah Silverman and they both say offensive stuff but they were hilarious and entertaining. Chelsea sounds like an office party clown.

That’s what I don’t get about Handler–it’s well documented that she slept with her married boss, and then dumped him as soon as he gave her a contract. That’s a fact. So how on earth does she feel comfortable throwing stones? Especially since what she did was worse than just sleeping with a married man. She used him to get what she wanted, and then when she didn’t need him anymore, she broke up with him. If I was her, I wouldn’t be throwing any stones, at anyone. Especially since she doesn’t seem apologetic about it at all.
And yeah–how is it that she can ignore the fact that when Penelope Spheeris (that director on the set of ‘Five’) was telling reporters that Jennifer was introducing Justin around the set as her boyfriend, IN THE SAME MONTH that Justin and Heidi went, AS A COUPLE to a Broadway premiere–didn’t look on and off to me. So I don’t understand how you can just blatantly ignore something like that, while repeatedly bashing another woman for the same thing–well Jennifer and Justin were worse.
