Britney Spears’ burgundy hair looks faded at her sons’ soccer game: cute?

FFN_Spears_Britney_FF2_040614_51375308

I know that I’m going to come across as incredibly concern-trolly, but I can’t even help it. I am genuinely concerned about Britney Spears. These are photos of Britney and some friends/handlers (??) at Sean and Jayden’s soccer game yesterday in California. Britney has enough built-in time-off from her Las Vegas act that she’s pretty much spending half her time in California and the other half in Vegas.

So, why I am concern-trolly? It’s not even that Britney was a mess at the soccer game, although she did flash her drawers a few times because her dress was so short and… well, she’s Brit-Brit. I don’t know why I’m concerned. It’s just a feeling. She looks sad. She looks tired. That burgundy hair color wasn’t the best idea, although it’s faded a bit so it does look better. She’s wearing too much makeup for a kids’ soccer game. And her “normal guy” boyfriend isn’t around. Is it all fine and I need to stop overanalyzing? Perhaps.

At the ACM Awards last night, Blake Shelton made fun of Britney as well. Since the ACMs were held in Las Vegas, Blake thought he’d make a hit on Britney’s show. He said: “If you don’t like live music, then you need to go down the block and see Britney Spears.” Ouch. I mean, we all know she lip-syncs, but it’s rough to be called out on it by Blake Shelton on a country awards show.

Maybe it’s all fine, though. Just a few weeks ago, Britney and Dave took Sean and Jayden to Hawaii. Britney posted some photos on her Twitter:

Brit looks great, but that woman she’s with is rather terrifyingly slim

    • Rachel says:

I think she looks good, too. Happy and healthy.

      • springingforward says:

On Blake’s comment, while true, he should not pick on Britney. The girl is dealing with serious mental health issues and EVERYONE, save a few, lip syncs.
I don’t believe it is the fault of her marriage, her dad or anyone pushing her to perform. Mental illness often manifests itself in a person’s early 20’s. She probably finds comfort and functions at her best, doing what she knows how to do; and that is working. Vegas seems to be a good compromise with a lenient work schedule.

    • Erinn says:

The other one has octomom vibes.

    • kimber says:

She looks fine. I like her burgundy hair better than the too blonde look so many chicks sport. Ya she could use less liner but whatevs. She still looks fine and casual. The chick next to her is actually wearing more make up and the track suit isnt cute….Jenny from the block called and said to put that get-up back in the goodwill donation box

Blake Shelton? He’s just an ass in general… A huge fake dirty looking ass.

  2. paola says:

Her eyes are always of a shade of sad. They make her look like an empty shell as if dementors paid her a visit. Cheer up gurrrl! Bad times are behind you!

  3. blue marie says:

I don’t think Britney will ever be truly happy until she can escape performing and just live her life.
The dress is short but she looks cute otherwise I guess.

    • Mel M says:

Agreed. That black eye makeup doesn’t help either, it drives me nuts. It always looks like it makeup left over from the night before.

    • HH says:

+1000! She’s said so many things to that effect and the press and it seems like people gloss over it a lot. A few examples:

-When speaking about wanting to have another child she said she would love to have a girl because it would be like a having a “mini me” and she wouldn’t have to feel “alone.”

-In a documentary, a few years ago (but post mental health issues) she’s said if she had her way she would live on a private island with only her husband and her kids.

-On this same documentary she mentioned that she wasn’t crazy but just “so sad” and that she couldn’t really trust people.

-On multiple occasions she was adamant that her sons not go into the Hollywood industry (but would make exceptions only if they really wanted to).

I’ve never really felt sorry for a celebrity, but Britney just makes me so sad. There are celebs that have real issues that eat away at them, but for some reason it’s different with Britney. Perhaps because it’s clear she’s being trotted out there for monetary purposes, although not necessarily with malice. Her father could be striking the iron while it’s still hot just so she can retire in a few years and live the rest of her life. She really could have blown through a lot of money during those rough years. There’s just no spark to her anymore.

    • Stef Leppard says:

Blue Marie, I like her dress too but it’s too short for ground sitting.

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

And she’s not wearing a bra … something to probably reconsider at a child’s event.

  4. Hope says:

I think she’s doing ok. But she always struck as someone who never wanted world wide fame and is not able to adapt to it even after all these years. She would fared better if she became a celeb who had a moderate level of fame.

    • idk says:

I think fame was doing her well. Her downward spiral happened once she married Federline and had kids. I think the “married with children” life was not for her. She lost her spark and ambition after that. She never fully regained it back.

      • lunchcoma says:

I don’t think it was the marriage. Mental health problems often manifest in people’s late teens and early 20s. Her marriage just happened to coincide with that period, which was also one where she wasn’t as tightly managed and people became more aware of the person behind the public image.

      • KB says:

I think her priorities have just changed. She used to enjoy the fame, but she seems very uncomfortable with it now. And I think she jumped into that relationship because she felt there was a void and marriage would fill it.

      • paola says:

I think what really got her down were all the people trying to take advantage of her money, her life and her freedom. She probably never had the strength to tell people off and demand for her freedom in taking decisions and manage her own career. I bet that triggered something in her head and she went crazy all of a sudden. I’m so sorry for her because you can tell she is a nice person, maybe not the brightest bulb but still harmless and dedicated to her job and family. I’m sure she worked really ahrd to go back on track and to regain credibility. She’s still making money because her old fans are very loyal to her and they really wanted Britney to have a big comeback.

      • KB says:

Paola, her mental illness is genetic. She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which isn’t something that can’t just occur because she was disillusioned with the people around her. She didn’t just “go crazy all of a sudden.”

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@Idk, who wrote: “I think fame was doing her well. Her downward spiral happened once she married Federline and had kids. I think the “married with children” life was not for her. She lost her spark and ambition after that. She never fully regained it back. ”

It wasn’t her marriage to Federline … it was the fact that she stopped taking her bipolar medication when she got pregnant, and she liked not taking it. ‘That’s’ why she got pregnant again right away with her second son. After the birth of her second son her handlers couldn’t get her to start taking the medication again. Her mother was too afraid Britney would stop the ‘allowance,’ so she didn’t interfere.

The behavior we saw prior to her ‘forced’ hospitalization was Britney ‘medication’ free. One of the responsibilities of her Conservator–her father– is to make sure she takes her bipolar medication every day.

      • idk says:

        @ Emma

I haven’t heard anyone confirm she has BPD so I wasn’t sure. Her “break down” happened after her divorce from Ferdline though. Before that time, she never showed any signs of a mental illness. I just assumed she had a mental breakdown and needed some meds/therapy to get her mind right. If she really did have BPD way before Federline came into her life, why was there no conservatorship back then? I’m not blaming Ferderline. I’m just saying that after her divorce is when she seemed to go in a downward spiral. I’m not debating whether or not your comment is accurate, as I don’t know…but it is interesting.

      • Bridget says:

One is not put under a legal conservatorship just because they’ve ”lost their spark”. Britney has some major mental health issues, and to me it doesn’t seem right that she can’t make any legal decisions for herself but she’s still working and performing.

    • Lily says:

I agree she never looked comfortable in front of the camera except when she was performing. She can not handle it when people start to get really interested in her personal life. She lost her confidence after kfed and she never got it back.

      • Tiffany :) says:

I disagree. I think she invited the press into her life quite a bit there for a while (wearing fake engagement rings for the paps, getting deals with Kitson to get papped while shopping there, etc.). I think that the open invitation to the press turned on her when she started to suffer from mental illness and drug abuse.

  5. idk says:

A ponytail/bun has never been Britney’s friend. We all know what looks good on us and what doesn’t. She looks much better with her hair down. Either way, it’s her hair she can do as she pleases. I think she’s happy. Her life is a lot better now than it was a few years ago. With regards to her not singing live…well the truth is the truth. She has never sang live and people who buy her tickets know that.

  6. Nikki says:

She does look tired and overly made up, but hopefully its just that – tired.

I’d rather watch her lip sync than listen to the crap that Shelton puts out there and calls music – gross *ears bleeding* shudder

    • Katy-did says:

Me too!! Just the thought of listening to Blake Shelton makes me cringe! I hope Britney doesn’t listen to crap like that!

  7. BreeinSEA says:

Her body looks great, hair is much better, too much make up but hey, at least she makes it to her kids games. I can’t hate on that. She makes Leann look even worse in comparison.

  8. Mylene - Montreal says:

Love Britney. She do her thing, have her family and look happy. SO im happy for her.

  9. shellybean says:

Well, I did go “down the block” and see Britney’s show, back in February. It was awesome. I’ve seen her a few times now, and this is the first time she actually looked engaged and like she wanted to be there. I was sitting in the front, so I could see her. She was actually in to her performance, unlike the the last time I saw her when she just seemed to be going through the motions. She also talked to the audience a lot. She also looked great (and she had the brown hair then, too). She looked fit and her eyes looked alive. I don’t know why she photographs so badly when she’s on her downtime. I also think that she WAS singing live part of the time.

    • eliza says:

Glad you enjoyed her show. Nice that you came away from it with a positive take.

I really would see her if I ever get to Vegas.

  10. lunchcoma says:

Britney always looks sad and tired. It would be nice if someday her ridiculous conservatorship was ended so that she could retire. I think she’s in a place where she’s more than well enough to handle her own affairs but not well enough to have a stressful, time-consuming career that exposes her to stress and criticism, and unfortunately, she’s gotten the worst of both worlds with little freedom and lots of work.

No comment on her fashion, though. Britney’s long since adopted a sort of casual, not-terribly-stylish mom look. She seems to be comfortable with it, and since she’s not trying to be a fashion icon, I’m not inclined to judge her as one.

    • paola says:

True. She is not going out there wanting to be in front of a camera at all costs. She can dress as she likes for me. I’m fine with anything as long as she doesn’t start doing horrible extensions again!

    • eliza says:

Actually that conservatorship saved her life and fortune. I get where you are coming from on the performing aspect but some people with mental illnesses do better in totally structured environments where they are kept busy. I agree she should be able to live her life without the constant work schedule but I also am glad there are people to keep the Lufti’s and those other creepy types away from her.

If her family is motivated by greed, better the money goes to them vs strangers who really do not have her best interests at heart. I think her family sincerely cares for her. They love the money but I do believe their hearts are in the right place for the most part.

      • lunchcoma says:

I didn’t object to a temporary conservatorship. At that point in her life, she needed treatment and didn’t seem to be capable of making rational decisions. Now, from all appearances, she is. There’s no justification for continuing the conservatorship – or, if she’s really still in crisis, it’s not appropriate for her to be working at this kind of pace. I’ve seen little to suggest that her family has her best interests at heart beyond her value as a performing asset, and I think she probably would do better with an impartial, professional person taking over the conservatorship with an eye toward preparing her to live without it.

    • Paige says:

Lunch coma, I love your name and your comments.

  11. mari says:

She always looks kind of zonked out. But none the worse than usual here.

On another note, her twitter is so written by her handlers.

  12. Cecilia says:

I feel sorry for Brit. Vegas is where the ‘stars’ go to die. I can’t imagine the strain of knowing you peaked & are pretty much dunzo by age 30. And we wonder why child stars run off the rails. That’s a horrible reality to face.

    • KB says:

I don’t know that people view her that way. Everyone knows about her battle with mental illness and Vegas is what seems to suit her for now. And I think she would be fine with not being famous…but that isn’t the case for her right now – obviously, if she’s being hounded by photographers at a child’s soccer game. I’m not sure if you’re being disingenuous and passive aggressive, or if you’re actually concerned about her. Either way, I don’t think Britney is “there” yet.

    • Boodiba says:

It’s not as bad as never having made it at all, living in a dorm room sized apartment & being in your late 40s with zero retirement plan though. LOL. Not that I’m projecting at all.

    • Immy says:

Tell that to Celine Dion and her move to Caecars palace – journalist Miriam Nunzio wrote that it was “one of the smartest business decisions in years by any major recording artist”

    • Kimberly says:

I don’t think so. Not many performers can bring a constant crowd to the same venue, so I think it says good things about her career. She could still tour if she wanted to, but this is easier on her and her children. I think it’s a win for Britney. I also love her hair this color, the blonde was making her look old.

    • Kimberly says:

      Her skin looks great here.

  13. Nicolette says:

A part of me loves that she’s a soccer mom, and it’s great to see her involved with her kids. That’s how it should be. She looks great in the blue bikini shot. It’s a long way from how she was a few years ago and she deserves credit.

On another note, Amanda Bynes has emerged looking great. She looks healthy and happy, and back to the girl she was at one time. Her parents seem to be behind her 100% and I’m rooting for her.

  14. Bananapants says:

I know one thing: if Blake Shelton were performing live across the street from my house, I’d get in my car and drive away. His schtick is never cute, and neither is his music.

  15. eliza says:

I dunno. She looks fine to me, like any normal person who is tired of the cobstant attention that comes with celebrity. Not on this site, but it just saddens me that people are always looking for her to melt down again. She has overcome a lot and I am always pulling for her. She did not choose to have a mental illness and it is wonderful that she has risen up in spite of it and those callous enough to mock her.

As far a Blake’s comment, that is low and totally unprofessional in my opinion. I understand people try to be funny but so what IF she lip syncs. People seen to not care and enjoy her performances. Plus given her sister being in the audience it was rude. Blake sounds a bit jealous to me. Maybe he never deigns to lip sync but it is not uncommon in today’s concert world given many performers opt for a dance heavy routine show to entertain and focus less on vocals.

    Sorry for rant.

    • Anna-fo-Fanna says:

I am so with you on everything you just wrote. I’m really pulling for Brit-Brit, and I think that to say what Blake did was unfair and just mean-spirited. Like you said, it’s now pretty much industry standard for some lip-synching with high energy routines, and he needs to back the hell up. He’s hardly without fault himself. I wasn’t really a fan before, but I sure as hell am not now.

      • eliza says:

        Exactly.

Blake is not exactly Lily White himself when it comes to gossip and scandal and given he would most likely not find humor in someone making a mockery of him, I think he should be more mindful of what he says. Make fun of someone who does sex tapes for fame, not someone who has worked hard both professionally and on personal issues, who actually does have some real talent.

Brit’s music is personally not my everyday music BUT when forced to listen to pop radio I will turn up “Toxic” and her first hit “Baby, One More Time” ( is that the title?) full volume. They are my guilty pleasures along with Hanson’s “MmBop? 😉

  16. mimi says:

Britney looks good at her sons’ soccer game. I love that cute dress she’s wearing.

  17. Jackie Jormp Jomp says:

God, that girl has one thick neck. IT’s all I see when I look at her…when did that start?

  18. Anaya says:

Britney doesn’t look as sad in the eyes like she used to but she often looks very tired. Maybe she has sleep problems. Her hair color is okay but the eye make up isn’t doing her any favors. Overall she looks nice.

By the way, it has never been confirmed that she has bipolar disorder. That has always been speculation. Well BPD is one guess amongst many that the media has claimed to think she may have. No one , not even Britney, has ever said publicly what disorder she’s being treated for. Not that she has to tell the entire world about her disorder whatever that may be but I’m making clear that BPD isn’t confirmed, that’s all.

The Planet Hollywood residency is doing very well. She puts on quite a good show in Vegas from what I’ve seen online. Fans love her despite the fact that she is lip synching to decades old tracks. She seems to be in a better place these days. I’m happy to finally see Britney with a genuine smile on her face at her boys soccer game.

  19. Mabs says:

Too much makeup at a soccer game? Who’s there or not there? Yeah…I think the job’s getting to you. lol I’m a mom and there’s no telling how I show up at games. Makeup…sans makeup. Dressed up…dressed down. This is the best B’s looked imo. Unless you want her to massage big ass snakes again. lol

  20. themummy says:

You’re concerned for her because her hair looks faded and her make up is too dark?? Well, that is quite a stretch.

Look, if she has bipolar (I do myself, Type I, rapid cycling, so I know of what I speak) she will go through ups and downs for the rest of her life. Not every down is a huge, traumatic, “Call the paramedics!” event. Sometimes we just get depressed for a while and it passes. It sucks, but it’s not the end of the world. People look for any little alleged clue and RUN with it like the WIND. She has doctors, therapists, and whatnot. I’m sure she’s being treated properly at this point. Bipolar, if that is what she has, is never easy, especially if it is severe, but it’s a mood disorder, not a personality disorder, and she’s not automatically running around in a psychosis just because she looks sad. It is entirely possible that the only real “crazy” she ever experienced was her one breakdown (those months that culminated in the shaved head and umbrella). People think they’re so damn informed when really they’re mostly so damn ignorant. Jeez.

  21. snowflake says:

i like britney, and i think it sucks for her that now she has been unfairly stigmatized by her mental illness. now people will always think she looks “off,” or medicated, or whatever. she looks just fine to me. leave the poor girl alone, ffs!
