Kendall Jenner, 18, purchases $1.4 million LA condo: outrageous or no problem?

Kendall Jenner

Here’s a picture of the photogenic Kendall Jenner in Paris last week ahead of the Kimye wedding of doom. For the longest time, I considered Kendall to be the lone holdout of the Kardashian Klan. She seemed shy, unassuming, and perfectly unwilling to join the rest of the family in their diabolical pursuits. Then she turned 18 years old, and immediately started Instagramming saucy photos. I still blame Kris Jenner for the abrupt change of heart.

Kendall’s since made some strides of her own. She signed with Topshop and then backtracked by flubbing a few lines at the Billboard awards. All press might still be good press. Kendall has purchased her own apartment for $1.4 million dollars. She put $500,000 down and financed the rest. Bam:

18-year-old Kendall Jenner just bought a place that’s almost certainly nicer than yours … a spectacular condo in an insanely exclusive area of L.A. … and she paid for it herself!

We’ve learned Kendall is now the proud owner of a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath condo in a high-rise building near Westwood … with a jetliner view of L.A. She paid $1,399,000, and got a $910,000 mortgage.

The building is awesome. It has a 24-hour valet, a concierge and doorman, heated pool, fitness center, catering kitchen, social room, card room and wine storage.

Kendall’s unit has Subzero and Viking appliances.

Kris Jenner is listed on the docs, but we know the unit is for Kendall and we’re told she paid with her own money.

BTW … the realtor for the sale is Farrah Aldjufrie … the daughter of Kyle Richards. It’s her first big sale.

Everyone’s movin’ on up.

[From TMZ]

Kendall’s new place is an absolutely gorgeous apartment. The Mail has photos of the interior, and I am officially jealous of the kitchen. I do wonder how she’ll afford this pad. She probably saved up a few years while living at home, so the down payment wasn’t a huge deal. Kendall gets some money from KUTWK, and she’s Rob’s sock model. She appeared in Vogue before Kim scored the cover. Still … will Kendall be able to afford a five-figure mortgage payment? Plus monthly maintenance fees. This could get pricey, but at least she can deduct part of the expense on her taxes if the apartment appears on television. Ugh, I’m thinking like a Kardashian.

The only reason Kendall is even known is because of Kim’ s porn tape and “ASSests” Well Kendall has now entered the real world with the purchase of this condo. Let’s see if she can afford the payments without her family’s help.
One other thing she is a attractive young woman but makes herself very unattractive with that blowing kisses to the camera nonsense.

  2. Ncboudicca says:

Her net worth is allegedly $2M, so…guess she can make the payments!

  3. Dani2 says:

At first I thought, “that’s fine, it’s her own money”, but then I remembered that she only really started modelling recently and she only did a few shows in Paris so the bulk of this is most likely Kardashian empire money sadly.

    • Lucy says:

She’s made a lot I money, she has a shoe line for Steve Madden and a clothing collection for PacSun as well as a nail polish line not to mention all the KUWTK and appearance fees, PMK has done a good job ensuring her yonger daughters are bringing in the cash too

      • Dani2 says:

I just saw that she took out a $910,000 mortgage so she can definitely afford that with her own money.

  4. mimif says:

Card room & wine storage? Not outrageous at all. In fact, I’m moving in immediately.

    • silken_floss says:

Excuse me madam, but I’m poor and part of the blue collar working class. Please tell me what a card room is lol

      • ldub says:

        i think it’s like a billiard room.
just sit in the living room or front/back porch for Gods Sake!

      • mimif says:

No I’m laughing because my gambling grandpa’s “card room”‘was the kitchen table and “wine storage” was the bottle of whikkey in the cupboard. This sh-t is so overblown, like whatever the hell her name is is going to be playing Pinochle & sipping on Miraval.

  5. Erinn says:

I… don’t understand how you can spend well over a million dollars and have a two bedroom home. That just doesn’t compute with me.

We had the paper work going on our home just before I turned 23, and the fiance was 24. Two bedrooms upstairs, a mainly finished basement, and the potential for 3 more bedrooms if I wanted to put down flooring and such down stairs in the other rooms. We will likely end up turning one into another bathroom. 104k. About 2 1/4 acres of land, beautifully landscaped. It’s nothing fancy, and it’s about 40 years old so it’s a bit dated. But damn, it is an awesome starter home. It might be able to fit inside her apartment, but I just can’t wrap my head around spending all that for a CONDO. I need me a yard, and some woods, and more than two bedroom potential :S

    • Devon says:

I’m guessing that your house isn’t in California or the west coast. Property is super expensive all up and down the coast. I actually thought that what she paid for that type of property (while WAY out of my price range) wasn’t too unreasonable.

      • AG-UK says:

exactly it’s expensive in LA/NY/SFO. She has a $910k mortgage apparently. I live in London that’s a 1 bed flat

    • m says:

Easily. I live in DC. This kind of price isn’t uncommon here, or in places like LA, NYC, San Fran…

      • Erinn says:

I guess. That sucks though. I’m used to living in the middle of nowhere, haha

      • QQ says:

Or South Fl I bought a one bedroom apt for like 85k like 7 years back I shudder to think the current price …the gag is that beside being 1 bedroom the place was reposessed from the previous occupant of all of one year before i got it and the bank DOUBLED the price !

    • Snazzy says:

Pffft darling – come to Switzerland. Here a 1 bedroom apartment will cost a minimum of 1 million. And that’s in a not-so-nice area of Geneva. I will be a renter forever 🙁

    • Nicolette says:

@Erinn, 104K for a house? I live in NYC, and here in Queens houses go for at least half a mil and up. That’ll get you not much yard space in many places, I’m talking literally a patch of land and a house that more than likely needs serious updating. And there’s a pretty good chance it’ll be an attached house, so not much privacy for your money. Before the housing bubble burst they were going for 750k and up.

I always say that outside of this city you get so much more for so much less. We’d love to own our own home (so sick of landlords) but not in this city, too overpriced. Hope to own one someday, somewhere else. One with a real yard and a view of the woods (love it) outside my window. 🙂

      • Dani says:

Yep. 1 bedroom condos in NYC (where I live and do real estate law) go for easily 1mil, and they’re not even this nice. A 2 bedroom is around the same price as hers and higher. Houses in Brooklyn, in a decent area and a decent looking home (3 bed 2.5 bath) start at 1.4mil. City living is overpriced.

      • Nicolette says:

@Dani, oh Brooklyn has become ridiculous. So many neighborhoods have had or are having dramatic make overs, such as Bushwick. These were really run down areas that are now seeing fast rising sky high rents, it’s crazy. It would be fine to improve an area but time after time people are being forced out to make way for the well to do who can afford the insane prices.

      • Dani says:

It’s obnoxious already. I rent a one bedroom in the Midwood area and I pay $1400. For a one bedroom. No driveway. No washer dryer. Let that sink it. Ridiculous. We’re looking to buy a house but everything is so absurd and not worth it. You can get a six bedroom, 3.5 bathroom 2 floor house with backyard, driveway and garage, in Long Island for $650k.

      • Leen says:

I’m jealous Dani. I pay that much for a studio apartment in DC., not even a one bedroom (I’d love to move in a one bedroom but I seriously can’t afford it) Ugh 🙁 Well at least I have a walk in closet haha.

    • HH says:

@Erinn – It’s as simple as the phrase “Location! Location! Location!” People that want to live in big cities are willing to (have to) shell out the big bucks to live in such a desirable location. I mean, you even find it in the suburbs, right? House/Apartments next to a business parks, malls, lively areas, etc. cost more than comparable houses farther out. I get why it doesn’t compute with you. I moved from the midwest to the east coast and the cost of living adjustment is a bear to get over. But I’m pushing through.

    • melissa says:

I’m guessing you don’t live near a major city. $104k for a house and land? I can’t wrap my mind around THAT!

    • Bob Loblaw says:

She’s paying for the location but I agree it’s not a good investment. I’m surprised her mother didn’t encourage her to buy better but it’s their money to waste. For that money she could have got a much better property even in her neck of the woods.

    • Ange says:

*sigh* I wish. Here where I live in Aus (not even a great city) you can’t get a house for anything under around $700,000. I lived in Brisbane for a decade and a townhouse in an area close but not too close to the city would not come in under a half million. Sydney, Melbourne, Perth? Fuggedaboudit.

  6. Jade says:

I think she will still qualify as a model even if her family was not infamous. But as for the opportunities she has gotten, can’t argue she got a lift. Anyway, nice to own your own house.

    • SpookySpooks says:

She’s tall and slim, but she’s nothing remarkable. I don’t think she would ever make it into Vogue without her family. She’s catalogue model material.

I really doubt she bought this herself. I’m sure her family bought it for her, and why not, they have tons of money.

      • Samtha says:

She gets paid for each episode of their reality show, so after all these years, she probably does have her own money. (Granted, it’s money made on the family show, but still money given to her individually.)

      • TG says:

They said PMK’s name is on the document so I think we know her mom is involved somehow. Lot’s of rich patents by their kids a home or co-own it with them, which is the same thing basically. You aren’t fully independent as long as someone is co-signing anything for you. And as someone said I am sure PMK will figure out a way to get a tax write-off with this.

Also am I the only one that thinks $1.5 Million isn’t that much for something billed as ultra exclusive? I guess I am thinking of New York real estate.

Edit: just read the comments below seems other people aren’t impressed with the $1.5M price that either and also have caught on that PMK is heavily involved.

      • Bob Loblaw says:

That’s the mortgage, I’m sure, no bank lends to an eighteen year old without a parent or other responsible adult being involved.

  7. lucy2 says:

Considering her reading skills, I hope someone else looked over the contract for her first.
I find it interesting that it’s all “her money” and she’s paying all the bills, yet her mother’s name is on the deed. Sounds fishy on PMK’s part.

    • Devon says:

She’s 18 and probably doesn’t have much in the way of credit.

      • swack says:

Was thinking the same thing. Most 18 year olds don’t have much of a credit history and need co-signers. I’m wondering if she will really live there or not. Not sure she knows what she has gotten herself into. At least there is no yard maintenance with a condo.

    • Dani says:

Banks won’t approve you for a mortgage under 21, usually. And that’s if you have amazing credit and liquidable assets.

  8. Samantha25 says:

Kendall doesn’t have much to worry about. $1.4 million isn’t a big deal in LA for a luxury condo. Kendall has been on KUWTK for years and her rates probably increased the last few years. She probably has a significant amount in trust. I’m sure somebody reported on her financials when she turned 18. She’s also a working model and probably does a lot of paid appearances. It’s not like her parents won’t help if she gets into trouble anyway.

    • word says:

Yeah, she’s got a rich mother and a rich father…as well as rich siblings. I don’t think she needs to worry. Though I would have lived at home for a longer period and saved more. Her mom’s house is amazing…and I believe once Kim and Kanye move out, it will be one big empty mansion.

      • At least she’s is somewhat gainfully employed compared to the other KArdashians. Oh CRIKEY, listen to me….compared to the other Kardashians….Of for Pete’s sake. Forget I said anything.

  9. Neelyo says:

Did she sign the deed with an ‘X’?

  10. Dawn says:

From everything I’ve read PMK has this under her name. That means she has something special in the works for Kendall. What I don’t know for sure but I can only imagine. And as far as Kendall being a model please stop with that crap. When she actually has a campaign and is the face of something like Cover Girl let me know. Until then it is all manufactured drivel for the gossip rags. We all know that PMK lies to the press about everything and keeps her fingers crossed it will come true. And if not well there is always…what worked for Kim.

    • qwerty says:

She actually walked some major shows at fashion week. Like someone perfectly said before, she’s “catalogue model material” but she’s somehow been accepted into the high fashion world. “Somehow”.

      • bella says:

wouldn’t you agree that kendall has the look for a potential big modeling career?
        i think she’s stunning.
with all the essentials to be a major thing.
        height, body, gorgeous face, photogenic.
too bad that all the negativity many of us feel for this vile family may spill over onto kendall.
i think she’s got what it takes.
and, good for her on the over the top condo.
why shouldn’t she live there even if it’s funded by the empire’s funds?
why not spend it if you have it?

  11. Hannah says:

Don’t forget the cost of a cleaner because she sure as hell won’t be doing that herself.

  12. Latisse says:

Meh, if they can afford it, why not? Am I jealous? Heck yeah! But it’s their money to infuse into the economy as they please.

  13. jwoolman says:

None of them seem to look very far ahead in their spending, but hope she can keep it. If the Demon Mother is involved for any other reason besides Kendall’s age (she probably does need a cosigner)- my bet would be Kendall & Kylie Take LA. The other daughters are getting long in the tooth and so I would assume she has her sights on the younger two for the next idiot reality show. Would rather see them share a college dorm room at this stage, though. Maybe Kendall & Kylie Take Economics.

    • word says:

Yes, I can see Kendall and Kylie getting their own spin off. It’s inevitable. Kendall is more of the quiet one so they will need Kylie to be the out-spoken party girl who gets in trouble while Kendall acts all mature. The scripts pretty much write themselves. College is something I don’t see Kendall or Kylie doing. They hated having to attend high school…plus it’s not like their family is known for it’s book smarts.

  14. Snowflake says:

Good for her! Whether she did it by herself or w Kris’s help. She’s a rich kid so this is not unusual, wish I was one, lol

  15. eliza says:

Kris is listed on the documents because someone had to read them and we know Kendall has difficulty with that. 😉

    • word says:

Kendall and Kylie are hosting the Much Music Awards in June. Wonder how that’ll go?

  16. Bess says:

Good for Kendall getting her own place.

I am more concerned with Kylie, the 16 year old. That kid has had quite a bit of work done on her face. She doesn’t even look like the same kid.

    • Léah says:

Kylie is pretty much drowned in makeup. You look at pictures taken a month or two ago, and her lips are thin, pale cheeks, then on instagram or whatever, her lips are huge. She uses a lot of lip liner (heck, it’s pretty visible. ). The girl is my age, and I’m stressing on what to do for class.
The perks of being born into money.

  17. Beatrice says:

She and her family are rich so this isn’t even remotely in the realm of the Ecclestone sisters’ real estate excess.

  18. PennyLane says:

The way Kendall Jenner slouches drives me crazy.

She needs to hire a posture coach, not purchase some fancy apartment!

  19. feebee says:

I’m leaning towards good on her. She actually works and really getting her own apartment in LA should (to normal folk) that she’s moving out of Mom’s house and into her own. This is a good thing!

  20. Lucy says:

All I can think of every time I see her these days is how much she’s looking like her elder sisters. Scary.

  21. Prettyinpink says:

She must have been paid pretty well to be a Harry styles ‘girlfriend’…

  22. shelley says:

That really isn’t that much money for a place in LA, even a condo. She probably went with a condo over a house so that she doesn’t have to worry about maintaining the grounds or anything, as she is only 18, and who wants to deal with all of that at her age. A condo is a good fit for her, and she has the money to buy and not rent, so it’s also a good financial decision for her.

  23. dorothy says:

So her mother is cutting her loose at 18 with a place of her own? Oh wait, it’s Kris. If the girls didn’t generate her 10% if she were a guppy she would have eaten them long ago.

  24. word says:

I can see Kylie moving out at the age of 16 and living with Kendall. Soon Kris Jenner is going to be in her big mansion all by herself. I don’t know. If I was Kendall I would have lived at home rent-free for a little while longer. What’s her hurry? It’s not like she has a strict mom who keeps her locked up in her room lol. By they way, did Kendall graduate high school? I know they were home schooled but the Kardashians love to celebrate and I didn’t hear about any graduation celebrations.

  25. Hissyfit says:

She’s been working hard regardless of how she got the job so i don’t see any problem. It’s her money, she can buy what she wants.

  26. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

She looks so much like Jeremy Renner – it looks like Kris really got some action back in the day.

  27. Patty Cake says:

I sure a$ hell wi$h I could afford a $1.4 million dollar condo. I think I would never leave the place.

  28. Ice says:

Isn’t she part of their reality TV show? I thought she’d have much more than $2 mil to her name. Obviously they don’t do an equal cut across the family. Or maybe Kris Jenner wants her to learn to be financially responsible/independent rather than have her parents buy everything for her…if so she’s way permissive in other areas.
Kendall’s pretty but I don’t see her body or face as supermodel type, either the Cara or the Giselle mode. She’s very thin and that’s all.

  29. raincoaster says:

People keep forgetting that the Kardashians were a staggeringly rich family even before Kim’s sex tape. Robert Kardashian had several hundred million dollars. And Bruce Jenner has his own money too. I’m sure that the trust funds alone could pay for this.

  30. cas says:

I think that kitchen is incredibly ugly, anyone else?
