Alexis Bledel & Vincent Kartheiser had an undercover wedding 2 months ago

Back in 2012, Alexis Bledel did a guest-starring arc on Mad Men. Her character was straight out of Sylvia Plath – she was tragic, insane and sexual. She played a housewife type seduced by Vincent Kartheiser’s Pete Campbell. The two actors had some sexy scenes together, including one hot fantasy sequence involving Alexis wearing a fur coat and nothing else. Anyway, it was true love. Vincent and Alexis started dating, and then they got engaged last March. Vincent picked out her ring and everything. It was all very sweet, and they make an adorable couple. Well, Star Mag says that they did the undercover wedding thing… two months ago!!

They’re hitched! Star can exclusively reveal that Mad Men costars Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at a high-end resort in Ojai, Calif. on June 7.

Family members and invited guests, including Jon Hamm and Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner, stayed at the Ojai Rolling Thunder Ranch during the couple’s romantic weekend.

“Alexis looked breathtaking,” a wedding guest gushes. “She wore a floor-length gown, and her hair was up. Vincent wore a gray suit and teared up when Alexis walked down the aisle.”

The couple, who became engaged in March 2013, are thrilled that they kept their nuptials so low-key. “They wouldn’t have had it any other way,” the friend says.

[From Star Magazine]

I’m debating whether or not to believe this. While they are two people who tend to be very private, they’ve also walked on red carpets together and Alexis talked about the engagement a little bit publicly. So, I wasn’t expecting them to release wedding photos or anything but surely they wouldn’t have a problem with confirming that a wedding took place? But I think it did take place. Star’s details are just too specific. So, congrats to Vincent and Alexis!

Oh, and after I wrote all of that up, People Magazine confirmed it. THIS HAPPENED. Way to go!

By the way, Vincent put his bachelor bungalow up for sale this week and the listing has been making the rounds because his house was SUPER-TINY. There are struggling actors living in Manhattan with bigger apartments, that’s how small his home was. Go here to see the photos – while I like a small cottage, I think the interior design of his place makes everything look smaller.

Will she make him live like a normal, civilized human being? And am I the only one who can’t get past his Pete character to see him as a real person? I know that he can’t actually be that awful in real life!

    • Eleonor says:

that proves how a good actor he is: everybody hate Pete Campbell!

    • Luca26 says:

I’m an avid fan of Angel and it took me years to realize that he was on that show as Angel’s son Connor because the character is so completely different.

      I think he’s just a brilliant actor.

  2. Mrs. Darcy says:

I don’t understand how he had half a million for that insanely tiny house 10 yrs ago, Mad Men wason’t even on then? I know he was a jobbing actor, I guess I got the mistaken impression from his infamous no toilet situation that he was poor when he bought it?! Guess he really is just a weirdo -good luck domesticating that one Alexis! Seriously though I do think they are a cute couple and not surprised they kept the wedding a secret.

    • lucy2 says:

I think that’s back when he was on Angel for a few seasons.

I could never live in it, but the house actually looks really neat. I always like seeing the cleverness used to make small spaces workable.

      • Mrs. Darcy says:

I never watched Angel, David Boreanz does nothing for me so I forgot he was on that! Now if there had been a Spike spinoff… I do think he’s probably a v.cool down to earth guy, but the whole toilet quirk was a bridge too far. Did Rory have to pee outside?! Agree he did a unique job w/the space and it’s nice to see someone live w/in their means in Hollywood – imagine they are upgrading a bit though now.

  3. Miss Jupitero says:

I have heard he is a wonderful person who really likes to stay away from Hollywood excesses, hence the little house. It’s not just about saving space; it’s about not defining your life with stuff. He carries this over into other things.

Among the tiny house crowd, this place would be considered large.

    • mom2two says:

Yes, I have read this about him too. He is nothing like Pete in real life and I think he is one of the most underrated actors on Mad Men. I remember reading for a while there that he refused to get a car and would either take public transport or bike to work. I don’t know if that has since changed. It does not surprise me that he and Alexis got married on the down low because I think that’s kind of how they roll.
Congratulations to them, they are an adorable couple!

      • megs283 says:

I read the same article. That’s when I started liking him (instead of seeing him as awful Pete)!

    • Sullivan says:

+1. I like this guy and she seems lovely. Congrats to this charming couple.

  4. Illyra says:

Wow they look so much alike.

  5. ClaireB says:

I love the way he lives. Simply. Love his environmental commitments. It is radical, but make so much more sense that the lavish lives a lot of people dwell in.

    • mg says:

      +1

Sad that some feel she has to pressure him to lead a more “civilized” life. I’d love to take his version of living over the more typical wasteful way most of us (including myself) live.

      • Moneypenny says:

I agree. I couldn’t do it, but I really respect it. The design of that home is lovely and it is refreshing to see someone not care about all of the trappings of fame and wealth.

  6. Amy says:

Mazal Tov to them! They seem a lovely couple, and great that they were able to have a wedding and party attended only by those they love and care for most.

  7. Brin says:

Congrats to them! I love that they are private and low key, it’ so refreshing after reading about all these other super-sized Hollywood egos.

  8. Sugar says:

I love his tiny house! It’s gorgeous! He has a commitment to living a minimalist, green life and part of that is living in a tiny house made with green materials. I find that admirable.

His house was very well-designed so that the space is maximized and has a lovely flow.

    • minime says:

I don’t know much about him but I have a lot of respect for him now. Why should he have a bigger house if he didn’t need one? And the house is really gorgeous and tasteful!

    • ichsi says:

I WANT THAT HOUSE!!! Wow! So beautiful, the bed is amazing!
800.000 is a lot though. If I put all my savings in I could afford 1% of it. Maybe xDD

    • Blannie says:

I’ve never heard of either of them, but I LOVE his house! I love tiny houses in general and his is very well designed. I’d love a man so committed to living in a smaller space and taking the time and money to design it well.

    • L says:

It has a sauna in the back and 2 bedrooms (albeit one is just off that main hallway) Struggling actors in NY only WISH they had this place. Seriously, most of them I know live in ones that are much smaller than this.

    • Ange says:

I seriously covet that place, especially the outdoor area.

  9. in_theory says:

Rory and Connor are married, that takes me back to early adulthood.

  10. Adrien says:

They’re a cute couple. That is all.

  11. Observer says:

    He looks like Knox Jolie-Pitt

  12. Mop top says:

    Bless his heart.

  13. TG says:

I came on here to say something mean but after reading the comments I think this guy is awesome. I also love how he is just living his life rather than running around on private jets and big yachts pretending to care about the environment. have never watched Mad Men and so had never heard if him until now but I admire people who are minimalists and do not let objects define them. I have always been a big believer in public transport and not driving anywhere unless it really is too far to walk and not wasting money on excess electricity and water. However, I admit I am not as good as him because I find myself living just to support my lifestyle, which isn’t even that grand. I wish I could just go completely simple.

  14. Yuyka says:

I have just seen a gifset from Sisterhood of travelling pants, literally 5 minutes ago, and I though how the 3 of the actresses are married and they invited the other girls to their wedding, and that only Rory Gilmore is not married, but maybe still engaged. And now there is this headline. Things like these make me thing that we do live in the Matrix and that there is something wrong with it.

    • Observer says:

“Things like these make me thing that we do live in the Matrix and that there is something wrong with it.”

      What?

    • Sunny says:

The Sisterhood is apparently close in real life. Not only were they at each others weddings, before Blake got married the four of them were spotted on a girls weekend in some city(New Orleans?)

I finally checked out blake’s crappy site, and one of the pieces on it was written by Amblyn Tamblyn.

  15. Sarah says:

I went to middle school with her and I’m so happy to see she didn’t turn out (so far, that we know) like most other child stars. She was sweet and dorky and we were all SO surprised when we found out she became an actress. Congrats!

  16. Lee says:

What a spacious feeling small house! Part of that is the photography, I know, but it does have a spare, minimalist, clean feel, with appealing higher-end fittings. Nicely done.

And nicely done on the low-key wedding! Such a cute couple.

  17. Bree says:

This makes me so happy. I love her so much, I wish she’d be working more though. Also, I just had a Gilmore Girls marathon yesterday.

  18. Skyblue says:

I live in a 700 square foot remodeled tool shed. My boyfriend calls it the “shouse”. Small isn’t so bad. An $800,000 price tag is insane.

  19. Isadora says:

Ok, I can’t hide the European in me – I don’t even think it’s THAT tiny. Yes, for a house it’s rather small. But if it were an apartment it would be a normal single size in most European cities?

I don’t even know why a single person – and an actor who is rarely at home especially – would need that much more space?

    • bettyrose says:

It’s actually not even that small by southern California standards, where small cottages (i.e. 600-800 sf) flourished in the 30s & 40s. The house reminds me more of an urban loft, not small but open and efficient.

    • Ponytail says:

Oh, thank goodness that wasn’t just me ! I think it’s got a lovely spacious feel about it, although I think raising the bed makes it feel more squashed, as you only see that in tiny studio flats usually. I’d love to have a house like that, though I’m not mad keen on bungalows in general.
I can’t imagine what it’s like living in the US if this is considered small !

  20. bettyrose says:

They’re a beautiful couple. I love Rory & Connor together. I love it even more than Rory & Connor met filming a psychologically bizarre tryst on one of the best written shows to ever hit television.

  21. Shelley says:

He is so slimy in Mad Men I can’t get over it. It think it’s because he looks like he lives in the 60s even in real life.

  22. SugarMalone says:

But was Lauren Graham at the wedding? That’s all I really want to know.

  23. francis says:

I love them together. They are so sweet. They seem well matched.
    Love them.

  24. eliza says:

    I miss Gilmour Girls. : (

  25. FrenchLily says:

Oh I love Alexis ! I’m a big big big fan of Gilmore Girls, it’s my favorite show ever !
( I also want to know if Lauren was there)

Congrat’s to her and her husband !

  26. emma says:

His house is so cool and well designed. I do love the tiny house movement.

  27. yep says:

Wtf is going on with his hairline? Its like a 5 oclock shadow.

    • Casey says:

He was made to shave it for Mad Men. Pete Campbell isn’t aging well so Vincent gained some weight and shaved his hairline so that it looks like it’s receding. I don’t think he cares that much about how it looks as it grows back.

    • Kath says:

He had to shave it back to play the character of Pete Campbell in Mad Men, who is prematurely balding.

  28. Sooz says:

The news is true. My cousin helped cater the wedding. I searched online for news of it after that weekend, and this is the first I have seen of it in the press. I’m impressed they were able to keep it private this long. Good for them. – and PS, guests played Corn Hole at the wedding, lol. True.

  29. paranormalgirl says:

I never understood needing so much space that you barely see each other, so his small house is very appealing to me.

  30. aqua says:

I love how they got married. They’ve been married for a couple of months and we are just now hearing about it. It just goes to show that if celebs want to have or keep something private it really can be done.Congrats to the lovely couple.

  31. BackstageBitchy says:

Just before she got with Vincent, she bought and moved into a nice but modest-by-Hollywood standards apartment in my laid-back Brooklyn nabe. She shopped at the local grocer, the pet shop, the coffee shop, etc and generally blended in like a normal person. Except once I saw her in yoga pants and she had a SPECTACULAR, very non-normal-person butt: high, round, tight. That’s all I’ve got.

  32. catsnaps says:

Um, no way does a struggling actor have a 600 sq ft apartment in Manhattan all to themselves. LOL! (Okay maybe in Inwood? And it wouldn’t even be 600 sq ft.) I live in LA now, there are lots of these bungalows and cottages. The house is not even THAT tiny.

  33. Catriona says:

May their children have the bluest of the bluest blue eyes EVER.
