Madonna wrote a song about how much she hates ‘copycat’ Lady Gaga

FFN_KM_GrammyArr_012614_51315100

Lady Gaga has copied Madonna many times over her career. Gaga’s music sounds so much like Madonna’s music. Gaga has copied Madonna’s look at times. Gaga has copied Madonna’s whole vibe at times, only Gaga has usually put some coked-out spin on it. Madonna has thrown shade at Gaga over the years in her very Madonna sort of way, never outright slamming Gaga but just letting everyone know that she (Madge) was still the top dog. But no more, apparently. Madonna is working on her new album and sources claim Madge has a song all about Gaga.

Lady Gaga has always credited Madonna as one of her musical inspirations, but it seems like imitation isn’t always the sincerest form of flattery. Madge has reportedly taken aim at the Pokerface singer in a leaked track from her new album Two Steps Behind Me, in which the 56-year-old singer describes her as a ‘copycat’.

‘You’re a copycat, Where is my royalty? You’re a pretty girl, I’ll give you that. But stealing my recipe, it’s an ugly look,’ Madonna sings in the hard-hitting song. Did you study me hard enough? You’re never gonna be, you’re just a wannabe me. Like a sister all messed-up, who’s gonna help you out? In your fantasy, you can try it all. But you can’t be me. You can walk the walk, even talk the talk. But you’ll always be two steps behind me.’

A source working closely with Madonna on her upcoming 13th album thinks Gaga, 28 will be ‘mortified’ when she catches wind of the damning lyrics, although it is yet to be confirmed whether the song has made the cut. They told The Sun: ‘They’re very harsh lyrics but Madonna really wants to express herself again. Gaga’s going to be mortified. I’m hearing Madonna may well drop the first of the tracks as soon as November, much earlier than expected. I can’t wait.’

Guy Ritchie also reportedly gets a battering in his ex-wife’s lyrics to another track Heartbreak City in which she describes the memory of their relationship as ‘haunting’ and accuses him of using her for fame.

She sings: ‘Cut me down the middle, f***ed me up a little. You said I was your queen. I tried to give you everything. And now you want your freedom. You got just what you came for, a bit of fame and fortune, and I’m no longer needed. You tore me into pieces, you didn’t have no damn reason. I let you in my kingdom, you helped yourself with everything. I curse the day we met. This memory is haunting me. I wish I could forget.’

[From The Daily Mail]

The Guy Ritchie stuff is eh to me… it happened a while back, I hope she’s still not “what if-ing” that situation. But the Gaga shade is well-deserved and I hope that track makes it onto the album. We need an old-fashioned Madonna-Gaga fight. Also: I hope Madonna does a slam-song about hydrangeas.

  1. Nance says:

Well, Gaga did copy her, Born This Way / Express Yourself, so Madonna can say what she wants on this.

    • Lex says:

So topical.. that was years ago! Say somethibg at the time or just let it go. Everyone already shaded Gaga for that. Madonna just looks desperate for attention by bringing it up again

      • Peppa says:

Ikr. Gaga’s popularity is on the decline these days, so it’s a little bit like kicking her while she’s down.

      • Stoner says:

Agreed – it’s pretty much low-hanging fruit as this point and lame as hell.

Madonna is 100 yrs old, FFS.

      • ya says:

Totally…. if I were Gaga, I wouldn’t be mortified – I’d be thrilled! Madonna is writing a song about me – shows that I am getting under her skin. Plus any attention from this might help make Gaga a bit relevant again.

And didn’t Madonna build her entire career on copying other people? Her music & look were never original. Nothing wrong with that. Originality wasn’t the point.

      • Sozual says:

Madonna was original. She pulled from other sources and came up with her own thing. From watching their pseudo feud, I think Madonna is helping Gaga with her PR.

      • Poopsicle says:

Omg… Agreed. Just get over it Madonna… Regardless, She’s just coming off bitter at this point. Someone from PR needs to stop her. Let it go… If you’re so secure about being the Queen of Pop then there is no need to make a song. >.<

      • danielle says:

Exactly what I thought! GaGa is so 2 years ago, if Madonna puts this out she is 2 steps/years behind! And, as always anymore, desperate.

      • Chris says:

        Ya
You’ve reminded me of an old interview with Anna Friel, in which she ( jokingly, but a bit ‘yippee’ too!) spoke of Madonna dedicating a song to her on her new album (Ray of Light) .
Sing the chorus of the title song in your and see what she means!!

    • Mike says:

Madonna copied David Bowie and admitted it so where the song slamming her? I think people should take imitation as flattery instead of getting upset. Waste of time

      • Stoner says:

Bowie would never stoop so low.

      • ya says:

haha yeah and Bowie copied a million people too… the cycle is pretty endless.

      • Pager90 says:

        Bowie is an original.
        He’s legend.

        I like Madonna though,.

      • homegrrrl says:

It’s ok to copy and be inspired, that’s what artist’s do, and because no two humans are alike, there can be no one hundred percent replication. I need to go do my chemistry home work now…But one aside, Gaga has her own spin, she’ s in costume more often than Madge who wore cutoffs for a few decades when not preforming. So I see more freaky commitment in Gaga, where as Madge can be off duty.

    • Bob Loblaw says:

Madge ripped off plenty of people in her day, she has no high horse to mount in this exchange. This just comes off as desperate to link herself to something modern. Don’t worry about alleged “imitators” do something fabulous. She’s got nothing, if trolling Gaga and her Ex is her plan, this is just sad.

  2. Coco nut says:

Yay Madonna! Love it. Gaga had it coming.

  3. Lex says:

So pathetic Madonna! You sound like a saddo high school kid

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

      Yep.

    • bluhare says:

I agree. So much for powerful and in control. She’s a big whiny baby.

    • Trillion says:

Agree: This does not reflect well on Madge, even more so because, as Lex pointed out, it’s not timely.

    • Stoner says:

If I were her kid, I would just cringe and want to die.

    • Bob Loblaw says:

I, for one, am disappointed with Madonna. I expected her to continue embracing her role as a strong and successful woman, choosing to embrace her age gracefully rather than wasting time in a pointless struggle with the clock. She seems desperate to be young and relevant and with her face work, she looks like a caricature. It’s sad. Aging is inevitable, learn to deal with it. Betty White is my role model. If I can keep laughing into my nineties, that will be a life well lived.

  4. Sullivan says:

I’ll always have a soft spot for Madonna. Haven’t heard the songs yet, but her lyrics are grouchy. She wants Gaga to get the f’ off her lawn and I don’t really blame her.

  5. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I can’t stand either of them, but if Madonna puts this on her album, I will think even less of her. Of course Gaga will never be Madonna. Madonna doesn’t need to announce it to the world. I think this makes her look childish, petty and mean.

  6. LAK says:

Madonna has always been clever about the influences she uses. Gaga just blatantly copies without any artistic changes to make the copy her own.

Guy Ritchie deserves every rude word Madonna has to say about him. Whether or not he loved her, she was a stepping stone to fame and fortune. Let’s not forget the interview where he said the only thing he got out of the marriage was lots of money or words to that effect. Madonna had to tone herself down to keep his ego satisfied, and he was still unsatisfied and no matter how he swaggers around town now, he took that money from Madonna.

    • Tammy says:

Agree with you about Guy Ritchie…he was a prick to her.

    • decorative item says:

Yes, and didn’t he refer to her as “It”? Like that was the way her refered to her with his friends.

    • journey says:

I’d have no problem with her singing about what a jerk he was, IF they didn’t have a child together, but they do. and that poor child is going to have to hear that song dissing his daddy over and over and over. not healthy. grow up Madonna and respect your children.

    • KatyD says:

I disagree. I remember a few interviews where she cut him down on-camera. If he received ANY attention, she would pounce. Madonna refuses to allow anyone else to have the spotlight. Once when he was promoting his movie, Revolver, a reporter asked him about the film. He started to speak, and Madonna cuts him off, saying, “It’s about the revolving door of YOUR EGO!” For her to accuse someone else of having an over-blown ego is rich, indeed. Guy didn’t say anything; he looked beaten.

I feel that Madonna is a narcissist. She’s spinning it so that she’s the victim. Narcissists always play that game. They’re never responsible for anything. I don’t think Guy is a great person necessarily, but I certainly wouldn’t buy her poor-me/victim story. After all, Guy devoted an entire movie, Swept Away, trying to make her into a film star. It was what she wanted, and he looked like a fool catering to her demands for greater stardom. Guy is now in a steady relationship with a kid, while Madonna is chasing after her youth, trying to get attention on Twitter/Instagram by using the N-word or taking provocative pics, and dating little toy-boys. Shows a lot about them.

      • Bella bella says:

Totally agree about the narcissistic behavior. If anything, Ritchie’s career went into a tailspin when he hooked up with her. He’s never recovered.

Also, she looks frightening. Why or why Madonna did you jack your face like that? Sad.

    • Bob Loblaw says:

When you share children you should never be making negative comments about your ex. It’s shit parenting and serves no purpose, especially airing it in public.

  7. MooHoo says:

If true then its a perfect case of the pot calling the kettle black. Madonna is well known for being one of the biggest rip off artists in entertainment. Lifting of The Staples Respect Yourself for Express Yourself is just one of many examples. And she hardly writes any of her own stuff – its all done for her. At least Gaga writes and composes herself. Aside from that one song Born this way and associated video, when has she really copied Madonna? She goes out of her way to be original to the extent that she has now become just kooky and cant be taken seriously as a pop artist anymore.
Say what you want about lady g, but some of those earlier songs like poker face and just dance are pretty original and cant be compared to anything madge has done, so was gaga’s look. she was nothing like madge at all in her sound or image.
If madge releases this infantile sounding song (the kindergarten lyrics) she will make herself look silly.
Wonder how Diane Keaton feels about Mad lifting her look these days?

    • Artemis says:

I think it’s funny that Madonna would still go after Gaga who is on nobody’s radar anymore. This would’ve been great for gossip in 2008-10! Now though? Again, Madonna is late to the party, she’s been late since 2008…

Also as a M fan, I do completely agree with her ripping off cultures. It’s strange how artists know are rightfully being called out for their cultural appropriation yet Madonna is the queen when it comes to abusing cultures for her own image but everybody seems to go along with it. Most criticism is still on her body and stupid antics. M has been sued for plagiarism successfully more than once so she should sit down and shut up.

Although I dislike Gaga, I do love the moment she threw so much shade at Madonna by claiming Born this Way was influenced by Whitney Houston. That’s a classic Madonna move executed perfectly. And it didn’t have to go that way because Gaga and Madonna respected each other at first, don’t know what happened. At the end of the day though, Gaga did re-imagine some of Madonna’s costumes etc, it wasn’t just the one song but still, don’t know what went wrong.

I disagree with the claim that Gaga writes herself. She has many writers on her songs which implies that she’s a co-writer. She can change one word and still say she ‘wrote a song’ and in theory, it wouldn’t be a lie. More like a half-truth. Just like most performers do.

      • MooHoo says:

I am sure Gaga has help – but before she became a solo singing artist, she used to compose for other singers e.g. pussycat dolls – so there is at least some songwriting talent there.

    • Tammy says:

Lady Gaga original? She’s always reminded me of Madonna. I doubt she writes her songs by herself. Madonna is original in that she pushed the envelope about sexuality where it hadn’t been done before…not the way she did it, at least.

      • MrsBPitt says:

I can’t stand either one of them, but M’s costumes were always sexual and provocative, where LG just looks like she is dressing up for Halloween everyday…I never thought M was a good singer, at all…I think LG has her beaten in that department…and my last comment is….who cares….neither one of them is relevant anymore….

      • Trillion says:

She probably has co-writers (they all seem to) but to be fair, Gaga had a career as a songwriter for other artists before she struck out on her own.

    • We Are All Made of Stars says:

Amen about Respect Yourself….she’s really writing an f you song over ONE Gaga tune which she herself ripped off from another artist, in her case note for note with only slight changes to the lyrics? Get real! Also, Madonna started out doing Marilyn impersonations, so I honestly don’t see why she would take it as anything but a complement if she thinks Gaga views her as an icon that’s worth imitating. Again, she started it.

    • Paige says:

I agree with all of this plus Madona did Born This Way on her tour, but some don’t think that’s desperate. If you are a legend why are you worried about someone beneath you so much.

  8. Josephine says:

Most singers copy to some extent, and I think Gaga has done some things that Madonna has not. I find it interesting that Madonna is not secure enough to be flattered, and instead has to lash out like a teen. Madonna was terrific in so many ways, but as she ages she continually disappoints. From her frankenstein appearance to her desperate pics and now this – I thought she would be a confident and interesting older woman, but she’s just immature and seems terrified of aging.

    • Sullivan says:

Josephine, she does see seem utterly terrified of aging. Twenty years ago, I never would have believed that Madonna was that insecure.

      • Peppa says:

Being terrified of aging is a perfect way to describe her. I remember when she turned 40 and thought she was going to embrace getting older and continue to be a trailblazer (and she WAS a trailblazer in the 80s and 90s).

    • Artemis says:

When I was binge-reading her old interviews (80s and 90s), I got the sense that she is terrified of a lot of things but she masks it extremely well because of her work ethic. One of the things that kept popping up was her addiction to exercise and diet and how that manifested in her looking at her guest’s plates and calculating their calories. Or exclaiming she would ‘never get fat’. Or counting on her exercise routine to get through the day because there would be at least one thing went right that day.

I guess because she was young, aging wasn’t on her mind that much but she definitely didn’t sound all too confident tbh. She had very weird quirks. Also her penchant to use POC toyboys who she loved to control and used to keep her company but then marrying white men who used and hurt her is very disconcerting. Even Beatty who seemed like her toy turned out to be more like a father figure who got sick of Madonna at times and judged her while she just took it in meekly. Also, she was upset when Banderas turned out to have a wife (in Truth or Dare) and she was asking her friend (the back-up singers) who she had to flirt with now. And she still wanted him to call her when she left the party which he never did. She sounded desperate for male attention.

I will also refer to her infamous SPIN magazine article where she basically confirmed all the stereotypes of black men (they’re so awful blablabla…) because her ‘experiences’ yet no word on the treatment of her ex-husband who beat her for hours and mours. Madonna confident? No, don’t think so. To this day, she still loves Penn and Ritchie is also still on her mind judging by her last tour.

    • MrsBPitt says:

      @josephine….BINGO….you nailed it!

  9. Nicole says:

Ha! Madonna’s late to the hate on gaga train. Now it’s just mean. And dated.

    • FLORC says:

Not late. She just hasn’t let up. This is the latest in a long line of attacks from eachother.

  10. Abbott says:

The fact that Madonna thinks anyone gives a s–t about Guy Richie or Gaga goes to show how out of touch this woman is.

  11. Ice Queen says:

If it wasn’t for express yourself, there would be no born this way, so Gaga deserves every shade Madonna can give. Guy Richie deserves it even more because when it comes to Gaga-it’s business and doesn’t come as a surprise if she cheats, copies, etc. Richie was in her home and should’ve had her back but ended up stabbing it.

    • Bob Loblaw says:

You may as well say without Marilyn Monroe, we have no Madonna. Not a fan of Gaga or Madge but two imitators squabbling over who caged it best is pretty weak.

  12. BeckyR says:

Madonna needs to sit down. Her day in the sun is over. She just looks ridiculous.

    • Nicolette says:

She looks scary, and that hat makes her look like the creepy Reverend in Poltergeist 2.

  13. Mischa Jane says:

I don’t think Lady Gaga’s first two albums sounded anything like Madonna. They were way more clubby than Madonna has ever been. Madonna is pathetic. All artists are influenced by other artists. While some of Gaga’s later music was obviously inspired by Madonna, I would hardly call them rip-offs. She should be flattered that another artist made her relevant again. Gaga wasn’t even born yet when Madonna first hit it big. Madonna should think it’s cool that the new hot girl in music found her inspiring.

Gaga isn’t even that big of a deal anymore either. Madonna’s about 2 years too late with this song, if she really wanted to throw a fit about it.

    • ya says:

Ya – I’m no fan of Gaga, but Madonna’s music for the most part was all standard pop. She was brilliant at marketing it though.

  14. poppy says:

the lead picture is priceless. and scary.

she could be singing about any of her dudes (except sean penn-is).
and for the pot to be whining about being used?!?!?! she wanted to be with ritchie or penn not for their movie connections?!?!?

    • Tammy says:

She loved both men, who were a$$holes. Sean Penn, I believe, was the love of her love and I don’t think she used him. She used the father of her daughter Lourdes…I don’t believe Sean Penn used her but Guy Ritchie almost certainly did. I agree that she used Guy Ritchie but not for movie connections.. she wanted another child and he agreed to give her one. I believe she loved him, too. I’m surprised their marriage lasted as long as it did, considering how their personalities were/are.

  15. K37744 says:

All I know is Madonna should never. ever. wink in a picture. Plastic surgery has done her no favors. Yikes.

  16. Chocolate bunny says:

Madonna and Lil Kim are always complaining about ppl ripping them off, when neither are original.

  17. Jayna says:

Dumping on a young pop star when you are an icon seems desperate. Even if she wrote it and doesn’t release it, as some are saying, is so tacky and makes me sad at what Madonna has come to. She made her comments last tour and dissed her in the tour by mixing some Born This Way with Express Yourself and singing a line of She’s Not Me with a backdrop of little monsters (not people) gobbling up Andy Warholianesque mass- produced soup cans with with symbols of her pony tail and the David Bowie Aladdin Sane ziz zag,, meaning they will eat anything fed to them as original.

But enough already. No one is comparing Gaga to Madonna this last tour or album. It’s more like she’s tried to capture the EDM craze and tried to be as avant-garde as Bowie in lyrics in some places, which didn’t work. She even channeled ’80s power ballads a couple of places. She hasn’t been compared to Madonna for a while and Madonna is beating a dead horse for what reason? Just make some brilliant music.

And bashing on Richie is so 2010 – 2012. She wrote songs on her last album about him, like five songs, bashing him, saying he used her for her money, and wistful, one wanting to kill him., one he was her best friend she lost.

Madonna with her grillz, and certain hashtags, and selfies and bad, immature lyrics in many of her songs on MDNA and now this, if true, reeks of someone unhappy in her personal life and latching onto her music career more in a desperate way, trying to shock but for all the wrong reasons, and not someone evolved, putting out music worthy of the icon she is. Why is she beating up on a 29-year-old for?

Gaga was asked about Madonna in a meet and greet with fans about what Madonna did to her the last tour. She said she loved Madonna’s music but that more recent music it doesn’t seem like Madonna is about the art of pop anymore. I paraphrased) That’s true. Madonna’s last album was trying to get a teen audience who was too sophisticated for her antics musically and didn’ t seem about the art of great pop anymore.

    • Artemis says:

To be honest, what can Madonna sing about these days? If she was smart, she would go ROL and use her experiences as an ‘older woman’/artist and mother. I would even love it if she would write about dating younger men. She’s not moving on musically which sadly reflects her personal life. Every album had some story but her life has been pretty boring since she divorced. Nobody cares about Ritchie, she was the star in that relationship. Talk about something else because Ritchie has like 400 children with his new gf and doesn’t give a crap anymore. He moved on.

  18. MsMercury says:

I kinda disagree. I mean Lady one song may have sounded like Madonna but she copies artist like Freddie Mercury (gaga from Radio Ga Ga) and David Bowie more. Miley on the other hand is taking after Madonna. I think Britney copied Janet more than Madonna as well.

Madonna stole just about every move she had from Marylin Monroe and club kids. She really has no right to talk. She has never been original.

I hate to defend LG but I don’t think most of her music or gimmicks are like Madonna at all.

  19. Chicken Fantasy says:

    Madonna is a legend.

    • FingerBinger says:

Don’t expect any kind words for Madonna in this group. Madonna has proved herself over and over again. She was supposed to be a one hit wonder and has managed to stay around for over 30 years.

    • Jessica says:

Being a legend doesn’t have anything to do with acting desperate. I like some of Madonna’ s music and I would have to be stupid to deny that she’s a legend, but why is she coming at Gaga now. She’s late. It just makes her look childish. I see she’s going down the MDNA route again and that was really bad.

    • Bob Loblaw says:

      She should act like one.

  20. Jaded says:

Since imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, you’d think she’d be chuffed that other entertainers are emulating her. But no. The woman who ripped off everyone from Cyndi Lauper to Marilyn Monroe to Marlene Dietrich to Deeelite to Kylie Minogue and more is ticked off at Gaga and being an angry C-U-Next-Tuesday in her lyrics. Ditto with her slagging off Guy Ritchie. How passive-aggressive. We don’t know the private side of her marriage to him but in my opinion he deserved fright pay after being married to her. She’s a black hole of narcissism and I doubt there was much wiggle room in that relationship.

Hasn’t being a devotee of Kabbalah spiritualism taught her to be a kinder person? Obviously not. She’s turning into a bitter harridan and lashing out at people because, as usual, the only way she can keep attracting attention to herself is by being deliberately shocking, tawdry and rude.

  21. blue marie says:

In the winking photo Madonna kind of reminds me of the creepy preacher from Poltergiest.

It’s all I got cause Gaga copies anyone and everyone.

  22. sauvage says:

Oh yes, this is exactly how a confident fifty-plus woman with class will react in a situation like this, take the high road. Not.

  23. lisa says:

madonna’s genius was in marketing not musicality. the celebrities that remind me of her the most are the kardashians.

  24. Nikita says:

I dont know much about Madges marriage to Guy but honestly, if your just in it for the fame, you dont stay for 10 years. Shes bitter about many things now that she gets older. Everybody is to blame but she was perfect? Should we ask guy how he felt in that marriage? Relationships get broken, deal with it. Now shes hanging around with 20 somethings, very mature madge.
And Gaga, well, should we ask who copied Blondie back in the 80ies? Madonna did many
unconventional things to get famous but at this time, there were no internet. Everybody knows that Madonna is Gagas inspiration but that is your fate when you are an Icon like Madonna. Madonna is a living legend so why so suprised or angry, she should feel flattered that gaga is coping her and still everybody knows that it IS a Madonna Copy, what is more flattering? You can see with madonnas plastic surgery that she is bitter, she cant take the fact that shes getting older and that she cant do anymore whatever she wants. she was used to it, to do whatever she wants but you cant take back time. and thats why shes angry, all of us can get angry about that but well, you can cry in your bently so not everything in your life went so wrong.
Get over yourself you spoiled superrich brat. i guess all her kabalah bulls.it didnt helped her to get over herself and find peace after all. maybe its just to get attention, who knows.

  25. Veronica Knowles says:

Well people aren’t even really checking for Gaga anymore. Madge looks bad for this.

  26. word says:

This will benefit both ladies. Both will get attention and publicity out of this.

  27. bettyrose says:

Everyone of these twits is five minutes away from being replaced by a younger, blonder Madonna clone. Gaga’s had a longer run than most but the next generation will still be copying Madonna. Not Gaga.

  28. Funcakes says:

There is no such thing as an original act in the entertainment industry. There is such a thing as doing different interpretations of the same theme. Madonna is old enough to be a grandmother and going on the internet acting like a middle schooler only exposes the insecurities she’s obviously feeling.
If she was smart she would simply be gracious to be imitated because it’s sincerest form of flattery.
As for Guy Ritchie, that poor man paid his due. Madonna comes off as unbearable over social media, just imagine what a sh@thead she must be in person.

  29. lower-case deb says:

why is Gaga carrying spare buttons on her nose?

  30. Jenni12 says:

Who cares? They’re both idiots and neither is original nor talented. Madonna is just older than Gaga.

  31. OhDear says:

Oh Madonna. You’re just tarnishing your legend status more and more.

  32. Paige says:

It isn’t 2011 anymore when Born This Way was released so she’s late. Madonna knows a lot about plagiarism so how can she say anything.

  33. Mrs. Wellen Melon says:

Madge and I are about the same age. Take the high road with the young wannabes is my advice. No need to remind anyone who the Empress of All Space and Time is.

  34. redvixen says:

The only original icon here is my idol, Grace Jones.
    Nuff said.

  35. TheCountess says:

Grow up, Memawdonna. Are you really that insecure about your legacy?

  36. Marybel says:

Gah,,I loathe Madonna. Imitation is supposed to be the sincerest form of flattery, but the old crone is so jealous and insecure she’s just making herself look old, and small, and petty. I’m not even a Monster, but dayum, the stage is big enough.

  37. The Original G says:

Madona is just a copy-catter with seniority. Did she lock the vault on riffing off existing iconing images?

  38. Naddie says:

Madonna is awful, but at least she’s relevant in music history. Her songs and videos from 15, 20 years ago were comercial but also good. I never though she was a great person, but I kinda expected more inteligence and art knowledge from her.
And Gaga, I never seen anything distinct about her, she’s never been anything but dated to me.

  39. AryaMartell says:

Madonna must be the only person who cares about Lady Gaga. No one likes her and her career in pop music is over. Why give her more attention? Her career is dead and it is because there wasn’t an original bone in her body when it camento her music.

For the sake of her sons Rocco and David, I hope Madonna thinks twice about releasing that song. On the other hand, it could be about any one of her numerous boy toys she has had since.

Actually come to think of it: Does Richie ever see Rocco and David? I would think he would try to circumvent the press when seeing them but does anyone have any idea?

  40. jenn says:

    wow
i’m sorry – she looks HORRIBLE

  41. Denise says:

Oh dear. She really needs to practice first when she’s about to take a new face onto the red carpet. Sassy/winky eye doesn’t work with a frozen face.

  42. Pandy says:

When I think hard-hitting lyrics, I think Madonna??

    • Chris says:

      Oh I KNOW!!
She labours under many delusions, principally that ‘True Blue’ was the ‘Let it Bleed’ of the 80s (which, let’s be honest Madge, already HAD ‘Let it Bleed’, and was quite prepped for raunch in females, after Grace Slick, Janis J, The Slits….you take it from here……..oops you dropped the ball.)
What you did, Madonna, was tell us that we were wrong to be confident and to feel free: we needed tired sexual signals such as lingerie, perhaps a belt declaring ‘Boy Toy’. Instead of ‘women’, you spoke of ‘girls’, and shazzam, we had the appalling con of ‘Girl Power’ to blight our way. Don’t tell me that was ironic dear, it was a retrogressive declaration of intent, seized on by the industry with glee, whose effects you are seeing all around you: “I am woman, see me strip”. (Hi Miley) 🙁
The one mitigating argument is that you were not in control of your enormously lucrative image at first, and misunderstood where you were headed. But now you see the trap….you yourself are perceived as an ageing sexy doll, not a many-layered woman of fascination.
(Blimey, I must have taken the green pills, not the pink ones….do excuse my rant.)

Um, right. How about this, from Malcolm Mclaren

More than a year before Madonna stole it for her “Vogue”

    She’s a fraud

    • Trillion says:

Wow! I’ve known about the brazen Staple Singers ripoff for “Express Yourself” (seriously, did she pay them royalties?!) but I had no idea about “Vogue”. Her version is much much better, of course, but that doesn’t change the fact that it is pretty blatant.

      • firefly says:

I happen to like both songs, Deep in Vogue and Vogue. But I think it’s hilarious for Madonna to go after Gaga after first trying to associate herself with her (younger, hugely popular a few years ago), and most of all, almost literally every single song, image madonna has put out in her career is a rip of someone else’s work.

  44. Goodnight says:

This would have been kind of hilarious back when Gaga was still relevant, but she’s not. This is the new Madonna in a nutshell, trying desperately to be edgy and cool while (ironically?) being two steps behind everyone else and behind the times. Don’t give Gaga attention now she’s finally basically done.

Incidentally, I wish the surviving members of Queen would shun Gaga. Does she have something on Brian May? Why does he keep playing for her?! She name is ripped from Queen, ffs. There’s loving a band/artist and paying homage, and then there’s literally stealing from them.

At least she’s on her way out. She got too big for her boots. She totally has talent but instead of relying on that she relied on gimmicks and then bought her own hype. Sad.

    • Chris says:

Errk….now I am veh veh lorst.
      Brian May plays for Gaga?
Jaysus didn’t he play for the REAL queen from the roof of Buck House? (Oh picture the drinkies afterwards…..HMQ to Brian: “Thenk you so much, most er ….oh delightful. My youngest son used to sing ‘Stairway to Heaven’ quite a lot, you know, when he was in the theatrical world”.
      Brian May to HMQ: “………..”)

  45. Veronica says:

Musically, “Born This Way” is the only song by Gaga that I feel has a strong Madonna vibe to it; otherwise I think her music has a fairly distinct sound. (Not to be a bitch, but based on live performances I’ve seen, Gaga’s the better singer, too.) The fashion, presentation, and shock antics on the other hand – yes, that I totally agree is reflective of Madonna. So I get why she’s mad, but…is it c*nty of me to wish she’d exit from pop culture more gracefully? Like, couldn’t she find a way to be relevant without relying of this type of shit?

  46. allheavens says:

Madonna is an icon anyone who can sustain a 30-year career in the snake pit otherwise know as the music business has my admiration.

Gaga is the better singer and that is what she should have done just sing but no she had to be the star of the Cra Cra Circus. Once she showed up in the meat dress on the red carpet I knew her days were numbered.

  47. Grant says:

Except that Gaga is way more talented than Madonna.
