Kendall Jenner was mean-girled at NYFW by the other models

Kendall Jenner

This is a photo of Kendall Jenner walking the runway for Marc Jacobs at NYFW. The dress is fug (although I can see Cameron Diaz wearing it), and that wig is awful. You can barely see Kendall’s face. What’s the point of hiring a recognizable model if you can’t tell who she is? Kendall previously catwalked for Jacobs in February during her NYFW debut. Marc Jacobs loves the Kardashians, and Kendall often wears his clothing on the red carpet. This week’s issue of In Touch says Kendall’s fellow models were not pleased by her presence. The reports says the other girls think that Kendall didn’t work her way into the gig, so they decided to mean girl her:

Her modeling career continues to soar, but at New York Fashion Week, Kendall Jenner got a taste of how catty the modeling world can be.

“The other models worked so hard to get a spot on the runway and didn’t think it was fair that she was there,” a source tells the new issue of In Touch, revealing that as revenge they decided to mess with her.

“Some [of the models] put out their cigarettes in Kendall’s drink!” the source explains. “They thought she was getting special treatment and just weren’t OK with it.”

[From In Touch]

If this story is true, that sounds incredibly gross to put cigarettes into someone’s beverage. I hope she didn’t accidentally take a drink before realizing there were ciggies and ashes in her drink. Ugh.

I feel sorry for Kendall for dealing with that treatment, but I do wonder if Kris Jenner was the source of this story. Of course she was. Kris Jenner was with Kendall, presumably backstage. After NYFW ended, the two ladies flew home together. Here are photos of them landing at LAX. Kris looks so happy to be papped.

Why even repeat this garbage? Is it not enough for that mother to have a daughter doing a job she has not earned? She also has to use that job to create a story line and gain even more publicity. Stop taking the bait.

    • Dawn says:

Exactly this. The DM seems to run this story every time Kendall does a show. So sick of this family who always seem to be the victim. I don’t buy it.

      • word says:

Agree, this is a fake story. They just love attention.

      • MW says:

DM has to be on the Kardashian’s payroll and/or indebted to them somehow. The stories they print are so unbelievably pandering that commenters constantly call DM out on how they must be being paid to feature them, six or seven times a day, on their “strip of shame”. I would not put it past PMK to plant this story. Kim has already said she “looooves” Mail Online, the Kardashians participated in some event in Cannes along with DM during the Summer. Even if an article has nothing to do with the Kardashians, they insert them into it, regularly. Today they showed a photo of Kim wearing a tuxedo jacket and harem pants, and because pantsuits were featured a lot in the Italian Fashion Week, it was Kim who was “leading the way” with her “style”. It was just pants and a jacket. Probably an old photo they dug up. Nothing like the models were wearing, but that was irrelevant! They had to get a Kardashian in the headline somehow. Yesterday, JLo was “copying” Khloe’s “style” because JLo had on Levi’s and a denim shirt, and Khloe wore a denim jumpsuit at some point in the past!!!! As if JLo needs to take her fashion tips from Khloe!!! DM will do anything to add the Kardashians to any topic, no matter how slim the connection. And DM is hugely read, so whatever they say can really sway public opinion. JMHO.

    • FLORC says:

I doubt this story is false. Kris is horrible, but this scenerio is completely plausable.
People hate this family for simply existing. They aren’t forcing anyone to write about them. They simply breath and blogs create threads. Unless Kris is personally blackmailing sites to cover them.
Those models are very snobby and cruel. Every huge fashion show has a horror story of extreme bullying.

      • Charlie says:

I don’t think this is specific to Kendall. I remember one of our models talking about her backstage experiences and models were horrible to eachother. Much worse than cigarettes in drinks.

      • deehunny says:

@Charlie– yeah I believe it and more. It’s a very cutthroat industry.

      • Josephine says:

There are plenty of behind-the-scenes PR deals that create buzz and coverage for certain celebs, and coverage is bought all the time. And you know that many of the gossip venues are owned by the same folks, right??

      • FLORC says:

Yes, Josephine. Some are. Does that mean that people aren’t extra aggressive towards Kendal because of her family? I seriously doubt that. Or that nothing nasty happens because it eventually gets reported on? It’s not all pr.
And when it’s Kris at the helm a big deal gets made. This is pretty low key so far.

  2. drea says:

    Oh please I call bullshit

    • Booklion says:

Agree! I can’t help but feel this is a sympathy ploy for Kendall. Everyone knows that she didn’t work her way to the runway, and given the recent diva, mean-girl rumours surrounding her, I can only imagine how desperate Kris is to humble Kendalls image and make her play victim to the media to gain peoples sympathy and make people less critical of her. However, bullying in modelling is not something new, there have been models bullying other models backstage for years. It doesn’t get covered by the media though. The only time it is reported is when the model who had been the victim comes forward and states something, so the fact that this story is out about Kendall only shows it was planted there by the family themselves. If Kendall actually had been bullied, then nobody would come forward to discuss it except her. This family are so fake it is unbelievable!

      • Erin says:

I can see Kendall being Kris’ new favorite daughter. Move over Kim. She can probably see Kendall having a much longer shelf life than Kimmie.

  3. Black is beautiful says:

    Lies, lies, lies

  4. Chrissy says:

I doubt this happened, just more PMK BS. Also, Kim must get her dress sense from her mother. She looks so ridiculous and try-hard.

  5. Isa says:

    She looks like Sandra bullock.

  6. NewWester says:

Umm, isn’t Kris a little too ‘mature’ to be wearing ripped jeans? As for the story whether true or not, Kendall must be aware she will be the target of other models who feel she is only a model because of who her family is and her connections. It is not nice, but that industry can be very cutthroat

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I think some mature women can pull off really trendy looks like ripped jeans, but Kris isn’t one of them. She just looks stupid. So would I, but then, I wouldn’t wear them.

    • Kiddo says:

Her outfit makes me think of a foxhunt, where the fox won.

      • Tippy says:

There’s a new brand of tiger distressed jeans on the market.

The manufacturer places catnip inside of a tightly rolled-up pair of jeans and then let’s an adult tiger play with it for about five minutes.

      • Erin says:

They also sell very expensive t-shirts that have bullet holes. They just have the shirt riddled with bullets. Celebs pay big money.

    • JudyK says:

My first thought, too. I dress trendy, but I would never wear ripped jeans. Kris looks ridiculous.

    • Redheadwriter says:

Well, I’m 51 and I wear ripped jeans. I’m not to fault her (or me) for that. Especially when there’s so much more to get on Pimp Mama K about!

      • JudyK says:

I’m sure you look great in them…51 is barely out of your 40s. Kris is older than she says she is…her true age used to be accessible but no longer is…money seems to buy anything…anything but Class.

      • Bob Loblaw says:

Her age is a matter of public record, she can’t change her birth record.

    • Dommy Dearest says:

I’m 25, my daughter is 3 1/2. I picked her up from daycare when she was 1 1/2 and the girl looked at me shocked and said ‘You don’t look like a mom’ (granted I look like I’m barely old enough to drink). I was wearing jeans and a T-shirt. I wasn’t aware there was a dress code mothers needed to follow. Don’t like Kris but I don’t see an issue with a woman of her age wearing things such as ripped jeans. Least she isn’t spilling out of them.

  7. magda says:

I believe this could be an accident and Kris/Kendall blow this out of proportions because oh so special flowers.
But I also believe that other models didn’t like Kendall. Having mother on the backstage just because don’t scream professionalism.

    • Charlie says:

I read somewhere that she gets special treatment, she doesn’t have to get ready with the other girls and such.

  8. Lucy2 says:

Another story line for the show, probably.
But I could understand the other models not wanting her there.

    • Booklion says:

I agree! I remember reading somewhere once about Jourdan Dunn (i think) and how she had been forced to walk up and down a runway for hours with her hands tied behind her back, just so that the casting people could see her walk under pressure. Models face a ridiculous amount of criticism and abuse at times, not to mention the difficulties they face inactually booking work and paying bills (since a lot of designers used to pay using clothing rather than money). They have worked very hard to achieve their place in the industry, so it is only logical that they would not want some mundane, pretty-but-basic looking, talentless celebrity taking a spot alongside them when she hasn’t worked at all to get there.

  9. snark says:

Marc Jacobs made all of the models wear those heinous wigs. Looked like they’d been fried and then cut with a weedeater. So fug!!

  10. Adrien says:

Lol at Marc Jacobs dress. How are you going to sit on those buttony things. Are they cushioned?

  11. Karen says:

I do not condone bullying. Gross! Even if it’s a Kardashian/Jenner. Even if I too think she’s more commercial than runway model, doesn’t matter, bullying is never ok. (If this story is true, kris borders dina lohan on the truth scale)

Most girls on the runway don’t even make good money for walking, it’s all about bragging rights of being in the show and getting exposure to possibly pick up an ad contracts with labels (if lucky). Some get there by connections (otherwise I still don’t get cara), some by husseling. Which I’m sure is why tensions run high among a competitive group of teenage girls. Hopefully the cigarette in the cup is not true. Because even if you don’t like someone you work with you need to act professional and just do your job.

  12. decorative item says:

I will never understand why people like them so much. The entire family are just so blah.
Kim is a beauty, but she’s also untalented, vapid, and famous for her father’s name and a sex tape only. I give up.

And, that dress looks like it’s covered in condoms.

  13. LaurieH says:

I feel sorry for Kendall. I think she could be a model even without the famous family, but we’ll never know. She seems to be trying to distance herself from her family, but Kris will have none of it. She sees that her #1 Kash Kow Kim is being pulled away by Kanye and so she needs to focus on another daughter to keep the kash rolling in and she’s got her eyes on Kendall. I totally believe the other models, particularly the more established models, are mean-girling her. Did they put their ciggies in her drink? Probably. Did they know it was Kendall’s drink? Maybe, maybe not. Is this a story fabricated by Kris to bring in the drama? Oh yeah.

    • Mia V. says:

She could’ve been a model? Yeah, but we all know she only got there that fast for being a Kardashian.

      • word says:

Yes she may have been a model even if she wasn’t associated with the Kardashian family. However, she would have had to start at the bottom. She would have had to work a lot harder and she would most likely not be a household name just a year after starting her modeling career. This girl literally told her mom she wanted to be a model, and the next day she was doing a Seventeen Magazine shoot. She would not be walking for Givenchy already. Kendall is living in denial if she believes otherwise.

      • LaurieH says:

I am not saying she would have gotten there this fast without her family name (and frankly, I think Kanye was a bigger influence on this than Kris). I am just saying she is definitely model material. Do I think she’s runway material vs catalog material? How do I know…I don’t know how to make such distinctions. But she certainly has the “look” to me a model. And the fact remains that even if Kendall insisted on starting at the bottom and working her way up, she would have been fast-tracked anyway simply because of her relations to the Kommercial Kardashians and Kanye West. It is a highly sycophantic industry and there are a LOT of designers who want (and do) suck up to Kanye (for whatever reason). Therefore, I try not to blame her so much for this.

    • Charlie says:

If it wasn’t for her family, she would be modelling sweatpants in a Lidl catalogue. She has the body, but not the face or charisma for high fashion.
If the story is true, I feel sorry for her. I feel sorry for her for growing up in that family and for being forced to be the new cash machine now that Kim’s getting old.

      • Loopy says:

You need charisma for high fashion???

      • Lady D says:

Charisma? That’s one term I would never use in relation to models. Not one of them strike me as charismatic. Not Giselle, Kate, Naomi, Linda, Iman…

      • Rena says:

Yes, you do – if you want to get re-booked.

I work in fashion and I book models, personality does get you places. Is it everything? No. But liking the model you’re working with helps a lot during a full-day shoot haha.

Working in high fashion doesn’t automatically equal supermodel status either (Gisele, Kate, Naomi, etc…)

      • Crazy Reader says:

Lady D: Gisele is charismatic. Maybe the only model who is really charismatic. I think you don’t like these models and that’s why you don’t want to see it. But high fashion models don’t have to be charismatic (my opinion).

  14. bns says:

In more important fashion news: Gemma Ward came back yesterday.

  15. Al says:

She is not attractive and she is where she is, which is nowhere btw, due to nepotism.

Let’s face it: she’ll ‘model’ until her mother arranges some fake romance for her with a rapper or athlete or something. The girl needs to bring in the cash, so the interminable greed of her pimp of a mother can be fed and sustained. She is of age now, time to make the money for that wretched woman.

She is like Ella Richards; Keith Richard’s daughter. Worst model in the world, gets booked constantly. Having famous parents will always work wonders.

    • Tippy says:

Kendall’s star is on the rise and the other models realize it.

Some of them obviously feel threatened by her potential and are attempting to intimidate her.

Nepotism and cronyism are a fact of life in most occupations and fellow employees deal with it in a variety of ways.

Speaking of ingesting ashes: Keith Richards once snorted the cremated remains of his father.

      • danyes says:

Kenndel is not a star nor is she on the rise. Her mother wishes she was a big deal in Europe or the fashion world like how Cara Delvigne is. Nobody in Europe knows who the Karashians or Jenners are. They are nobodies over there.

      • Nina says:

Danyes is right, you say “Kardashian” we say “who?”
And thank the Lord for it.

    • Chrissy says:

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Ella Keef’s granddaughter?

  16. Gina says:

Cry me a river Kendall. She parties with the likes of Chris Brown and his posse and posts the pics on ig with her 17 year sister in tow with drinks in hand. She has a lifestyle that doesn’t cry innocence. Having a ridiculously transparent reality show and wanting to be a model taken seriously just doesn’t mesh. You can’t have both Kendall, skinny models are mean, they’re hungry.

    • Bridget says:

Like a girl that grew up going to private schools in Calabasas and in *that* family can’t handle a few cranky models.

  17. Beatrice says:

Is this true? Who knows? But the ultimate mean-girling for a Kardashian is to ignore them. That’s the worst cut!

  18. Megan says:

That dress looks like it’s made from plastic. Ick.

  19. Kiddo says:

I don’t want to komment on the kalamities, but I think Marc Jacobs got his inspiration from a nicotine stained shower curtain and reminiscences of childhood clusters of chicken pox, while contemplating where to cut the budget, and fabric was first on the list.

  20. TOPgirl says:

There are worse cases of bullying…this is not news. Kendell will still continue to make zillions of dollar, stay spoiled and etc. No sympathy here.

  21. Greek Chic says:

The awkward moment when you realise that even Lucifer dresses better and looks less plastic than Kim.

  22. whatsmyname? says:

But aren’t there other models coming from connected and well known familys? Kendall isn’t the only one. But my guess is this story is made up so she can get sympathy or something.

    • Lex says:

Loaaaaads of em. Plus there are also loads of models only there as they are genetic freaks. They didn’t ‘earn’ anything either. They should all just get over it and go learn a trade.

  23. Hautie says:

Sorry I am not shocked by the claim of bullying. I believe her.

The bullying happens, with the girls that do this for a living. It is a bunch of girls who don’t eat for a living. I can not think of a meaner female, than one who stays permanently hungry. Add to it they are under paid. And I can recall more than once, reading how awful that this work is and will always be. I believe Tyra Banks has been very vocal about how back stabby this business is between the girls.

From the sexual harassment from the men in the industry… to this catty mean sh*t at the big annual Fashion Shows. This is not a business for the thin skinned. And unless you end up being the “face” of a product… you are going to stay poor. Having to hustle to fight for jobs.

So yea, I believe Kendall is getting harassed. Without a doubt. And it will not get any better. Girls can be mean as hell when packed together. Bored and hungry.

  24. Gwen says:

She meangirls herself so I think karma is at play.

  25. Ennie says:

The KArtrashian version of High School, since this girl can hardly read, and is “homeschooled”, they get her story lines from the modeling jobs.
I find weird how for so many HW people now they are rally mixing their real lives with their shows, like “extending” them beyond the screen.
Kendra and her husband woes, this KK people, the showy marriage, for example or the Khloe relationship. The only couple with more craziness and a reality show is the Cibrian -Rimes one, they do need to tone it down!
It is weird to me, and it makes me realize that a lot of the gossip is fabricated for PR purposes. Still entertaining to read sometimes, tho.

  26. Mischa Jane says:

I doubt this happened, mostly because Kris WAS there. She would not have let that happen.

I don’t get these designers taking pretty young girls and making them look as washed out and fug as possible. How is this look making me want to buy this dress? It’s not. The dress is fug, but that’s beside the point. The whole look is atrocious.

    • whatsmyname? says:

I don’t get it either seems like to them high fashion = fug

    • Denise says:

The designers come up with an inspiration for a look which includes the hair and makeup. And then the session team creates this on each girl. Sometimes the hair and makeup suits the model’s features and other times it makes them look horrible, especially when it’s high fashion or avant garde. They want a cohesive look on the runway and when you see it done like this it drives the point home that those girls really are mannequins. In that their unique beauty doesn’t really matter. I prefer the beauty looks where the women actually look pretty. I mean, who doesn’t?

As for Kendall, off the runway I think she is very pretty. On the runway, she completely disappears. It’s not so much about being face beautiful, it’s about having a presence. And she’s got nothing.

  27. newert says:

This seems like a made up lie. Jenner is the same girl who walks out on restaurant bills and throws money at a waitresses face. She seems to be like the kind who would bully someone, look at that letter she sent to that waitresses basically calling her poor and unsuccessful. Jenner is not that pretty, doesn’t t have an ounce of talent or is anything special. If it wasn’t for Kanye West connections, she would not get a second look in the fashion industry. Everyone else at that show had to earn their way to walk the ramps, she only got it probably because Kanye begged the fashion people to take her in, just to please Kim. She also treated Jada Pinkett Smiths housemaids and workers like trash. I don’t believe she is a victim. She and her family haven’t worked a day in their privileged lives.

  28. pnichols says:

ah these bitches are just hungry. literally.

  29. Happy21 says:

I just wanted to ‘like’ the title.
    That is all!
    🙂

  30. Pager90 says:

If Kendall can handle The slings and arrows from the public that come with Kim K. ..being her sister, I sure she can handle anything those models threw at her.

Those shows have time constraints that are such short windows , to get dressed, in makeup and onto the runway is quite a challenge, so the girls don’t have a lot of time for personal infighting.

But the models may throw shade at each other back stage if someone is new and or outsider to their world.

  31. wendy says:

It’s not unheard of to hear of models bullying one another. I’ma wardrobe stylist and have been told of the drama that happens in model houses. Girls will tear up your portfolio pictures if you leave shit unattended.
She is not getting jobs because of who she is. Her agency made her drop her last name. They also wanted her off the reality show.
I doubt everyone in Europe knows who she is when she goes to model castings.
What her famous family gets her is no debt to her agency. She can afford to pay her way everywhere. Most models make nothing cause they have to pay back hotel and flight fees to their agency.
And people that keep saying she doesn’t have a high fashion face. Get real. There is really no rhyme or reason why someone becomes a huge success. There are models making loads of money that the average non fashion industry person would not think for s second that they were as successful as they are.
Most designers like their runway models to be blank canvases so that their clothes are the stars and not the model themselves. They are clothes hangers. Kendall is doing this perfectly right now. She’s walking in a ton of shows and doing a great job.

    • Rena says:

Almost all clients pay for a model’s airfare and hotel fees. The model/agency does it when the model is new and testing out new markets. Example, living in a model’s apartment for three months in NYC to try and get more bookings/sign with more agencies? Then model pays. Book a shoot with Abercrombie in the mountains of Alaska? Client pays everything. Book with Nordstrom.com? Client pays to bring your butt to Seattle. I know this for a fact, I deal with agencies all the time when booking models for the company I work for.

Also, IMO Kendall is more of a commercial model and does not have the face for the European runways. She would do well in the Asian market, where they like the more all-American girl look.

      • Denise says:

I agree – for high fashion in Europe she’s missing the angular features. Her cuteness is perfect for Asia.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

Kendall is stunning, not that it matters with models, there are so many other factors to what makes a model ,but she is a stunning girl. IMO and she also has a body and height for modeling.

    • Bob Loblaw says:

I’m sorry to be mean but she’s putting herself out there and I don’t think she has the “look” for high fashion and I believe her entire career is based on her connections. She is completely forgettable. This runway did her no favors, but I’ve never seen her look memorable or interesting. She’s like a dish of vanilla pudding, it’s nice but not for the menu of a five star restaurant.

  32. ewww its a kartrashian says:

Bland talent less rude BULLU of a girl. The kartrashians have a collapsing empire and she will fall with the reat of them…hopefully down a black hole never to retyrn.

  33. GirlyGirl says:

Maybe the other models didn’t know they had hurt her feelings?

It would be hard to tell because she only has one facial expression.

  34. Dommy Dearest says:

True or not, I have no pity. I don’t buy the angle that the girl wants to distance herself from her family. Just another ploy in the ‘feel sorry for Kendall’ scene. The girl has bullied people with less than her so forgive me if I can’t muster a care to give.

  35. Brionne says:

Question: how does any model EARN IT? Isn’t it usually that you get a lucky break or someone sees you and feels you have that certain something? Or you take shots and schlep them to 100 modeling agencies? Or you win some crazy contest?

I see Kendall as no less legitimate than any other model out there. She has the body type and the look and she got someone’s attention. Is that not a typical model story? Am I being naive?

    • Rena says:

There is a ton of competition for models out there. Yes, some girls are lucky and have that extra something special that takes them from the farm in Iowa to the runways in NYC in less than a year haha. But most girls are constantly working on their books (portfolios), and they slowly climb the ladder of booking better and better clients. You need experience to book the bigger shoots. Time is money in the fashion industry and taking on a young model with low experience/client list can be risky. I work in fashion btw.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

They earn it. By the time we become familiar with the name of a model, she may have been quietly working for several years ,from the time she was 15, 16 building up her portfolio, working in Europe , booking jobs and getting tear sheets in European Magazines that are never shown in the US, or doing catalog to earn money, while building their books.
Even working as a model in designer showrooms until they get a booking for print which will give them work to put in their portfolios.
Just because a agency signs a girl doesn’t mean she’s suddenly a star, after they sign, then it’s work to actually get booked for a job, by going on go-sees.
It’s a process, somewhat like actors who go out and audition and audition and finally get a booking for a tv show , we may not see the actor in anything big for years, but they are quietly working, but the world doesn’t know them yet.

I think if the girls are picking at Kendall , it’s because they know she had some doors open for her, but it’s that way in any business and in modeling too.
Jude Law’s handsome son recently made his modeling debut in London on the runway, he’s definitely model material, but his dad being Jude Law definitely opened the door for him.

The thing is there are a lot of wealthy and connected people’s offspring in modeling, Kendall is not unusual. some use it as a springboard to a acting career or for various reasons, or they don’t like it and quit and people don’t even realize they ever modeled.

  36. Joh says:

Her actually performance matters less then the name buzz she brings to a gig. She could wear a burka and who would care.
She is not the most beautiful gal at the party but is hired for the PR value.
When that fades, she is toast.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

But the thing is she may really be developing as a good model. I haven’t seen her work so I don’t know I’m just saying she may be getting good at it.

  37. Veronica says:

I’m of two minds on the issue because on one hand, yes her name definitely helped get her to where she was. On the other hand…don’t give me this B.S. that other models haven’t done the same thing. Cara Delevingine? Daughter of a wealthy family with family connections to known celebrities AND a godfather who’s an excecutive staffer at Condé Nast. Modeling is just as competitive as any other industry. People are going to use whatever advantage they have.

  38. jwoolman says:

She brought her mom?!? Maybe she really did need to stay in highschool for more than just book learning. She should know that bringing mom in is bound to cause a lot if laughter, in front of and behind her back.

She’s hardly dissociating herself from the K. Klan’s shows. Wonder how long the Kardashian PR bonus will last- then we’ll see if she can really work as a model on her own. Might come sooner than she thinks if Kim and Kanye break up (or Kanye breaks down…), if Kanye is calling in favors for her.

  39. Crazy Reader says:

Her own publicist said this story is false. (I read a comment about it.)

  40. rudy says:

Of Course PMK is the source of the story.
Kendall is inkredibly entitled. She is probably a beyatch bacKstage.
