The Clinton family posts baby Charlotte’s first photos on Twitter: adorable?

Chelsea Clinton and her husband Marc Mezvinsky welcomed their first child, a daughter, on Friday. As I said over the weekend, I really thought Mila Kunis would give birth before Chelsea, so I was surprised. Chelsea and Marc named their daughter Charlotte Clinton Mazvinsky, which is pretty neutral as far as celebrity/political names go. Like, Chelsea could have named the baby Iowa Caucus Clinton or Dade County Mazvinsky. Charlotte will play in all of the states. If you believe Hillary Clinton is going to run. Which she will. Totally.

Anyway, Chelsea, Bill and Hillary all posted baby’s first photos on their individual Twitter accounts. What I like is seeing which photos got posted to individual accounts. I’m sure that there was some coordination, but there’s still a nice homespun touch, plus I always like when parents “give away” the first baby photos on social media. Interesting sidenote: in the two photos posted to Bill and Hillary’s separate Twitter accounts, Hillary is holding the baby in both photos. Did Bubba get to hold his grandbaby? Or is this all some sort of political conspiracy to rebrand Hillary as loving grandmother? I’m sure Sean Hannity will be asking that for the next week.

The header photo is from Bill’s Twitter and added the message: “Charlotte, your grandmother @HillaryClinton and I couldn’t be happier!” That’s my favorite photo because you can really see the emotion in Bubba’s face. They really do look like this is the happiest they’ve ever been. Chelsea posted a photo of herself, Marc and the baby with the message “At 7:03 PM on September 26th, we finally met Charlotte. We’re in love.” Aw, that’s sweet. And Hillz posted the photo of Bill standing over her and the baby with the message: “@BillClinton and I are over the moon to be grandparents! One of the happiest moments of our life.”

Charlotte’s head is beautifully round. Almost looks as if Chelsea had a c-section.

    • starrywonder says:

Who cares if she did? There are a ton of reasons for c-sections. My sister in law had to have one since my nephew came in on a breech. A coworker had one because her baby’s heart rate wasnt great and she had already been on bedrest for a month prior to going into labor.

      • Marigold says:

I don’t think she’s knocking c sections. Just pointing out that c section baby heads can be nice and round because they don’t get squashed in the birth canal.

      • FLORC says:

Yea. There’ no attack there. Only 1 you’re assuming.
I’ve heard the same and i’ve seen people comment on a baby’s shape. It’s not common to have a vaginal birth without some slight reshaping of the head.

Starrywonder. When you hear people make comments like this do not assume it’s meant to shade. Because it’s very likely there’s no shade at all. Ony a common comment on a common trait.

    • sigh((s)) says:

My kid was c-section, but because he tried for so long to come out the natural way first he still ended up with grandpa Simpson head.

      • BunnyBabe says:

My mom tried for so long with me that my head was misshapen too… My grandma always heard c-section babies come out “perfect.” She lifted up my hospital hat, took one look at my head, crammed that hat back on and snapped “We’ll love her anyway!”

    • Marigold says:

My kid had a perfectly round head and was not a c section. It depends on how they are positioned when they come through the canal.

      • Same here. And the heads pretty much all sort themselves out in the end. Not everyone winds up with a perfectly round skull, but there are factors beyond birth that go into that!

    • Ag says:

my son was vaginal birth. and his head was perfectly round. so, it depends.

    • T.C. says:

Not sure Chelsea would be able to sit up that straight in a chain hours after a C-Section. Love the pictures.

    • mkyarwood says:

Both my babies came out the ol fashioned canal and had perfectly round heads. If she had a C she’d likely be hooked up to apparatus still but, really, who cares? Baby = healthy = all that matters in the end.

  2. Lilacflowers says:

Can’t really see Charlotte’s face in any of the pictures but everyone looks so happy. It’s refreshing. Congratulations! The Clintons have been waiting for this for a long time.

  3. Jen34 says:

I am sure they are completely thrilled and are probably already hinting they want more. Congrats to the Clintons and Mazvinskys.

    • Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

Thats gotta be a pain in the patudie for new mothers though? to go through all that pain and then asked when the next one is coming along when you are trying to deal with the one you have already.

  4. Aussie girl says:

New life is such a beautiful thing for a family to celebrate. Congrats to them all.

  5. NewWester says:

That is such a great photo to see on a Monday morning! You can tell Bill and Hillary are thrilled to be seeing their granddaughter for the first time

  6. MissBB says:

Bill is looking a bit frail, is he allright?

    • Ennie says:

I am not sure since Inam not American and do. It follow politics all that much, but he has been thinner for a while, right? He probably has to watch his diet due to his heart issues.

    • tracking says:

Yeah, he became vegan (or mostly vegan) and has lost a ton of weight.

      • Sugar says:

Nah, he eats cheeseburgers now. He didn’t like being a vegan. He looks sick, I’m afraid.

      • FLORC says:

Sometimes when older people lose weight their skin doesn’t bounce back to being as tight. They look more frail, but that isn’t how they are. Bill appears high energy still and aside from his very superficial appearance he’s very healthy.

    • RobN says:

I saw him at a golf tournament in Palm Springs last January, and he did not look well at all. He and George Bush were doing a presentation to a guy who had donated a gazillion dollars to some hospital and it was hard to imagine they are the same age. George looked like the young guy guiding his father around by the arm. Really frail and that pallor you get when you never go outside. Frankly, he looked like a cheeseburger or two might do him some good.

      • FLORC says:

I saw him summer time of last year and he looked fine. I was maybe 30 feet away from him and hewas walking past.

We have a strong image and memory of him in his youth and it appears as such a shock when wesee him back in the public scene as an older and slightly weaker man. It’s age, weightloss that shocks our minds not seeing him everyday. That’s justfar too little to claim or support a theory he’s frail and sickly.

    • Lucinda says:

He’s been thinner for years, ever since that big health scare. I think we just have the rounder face image in our heads permanently so this thinner look is always a bit disconcerting. He doesn’t look sick to me. Just older and thinner. Remember, it’s been close to 15 years since he left office.

  7. delorb says:

    Of course its adorable.

  8. Dani2 says:

So adorable, the whole family looks so happy.

  9. OTHER RENEE says:

    Beautiful.

  10. MrsBPitt says:

I wish my sons would hurry up and meet the women they want to marry, and give me some grandbabies!!!! I love my fur grandbabies, but a little boy or girl would be awesome!

Congrats to the whole Clinton/Mezvinsky clan!!!

  11. Kath says:

Given the context, this is totally inappropriate… but Chelsea’s husband is a bit of a dish, no?

He has that slightly scruffy college-professor look about him that I like.

  12. BendyWindy says:

I’m so happy for all of them. 😀

  13. Ag says:

congrats to chelsea and her hubs. the pics are super sweet. (on a sidenote, bubba looks like he’s dropped some weight lately?)

  14. mia girl says:

@Kaiser – Iowa Caucus and Dade County… so funny!

Congrats to the parents and grandparents. Such a happy time!

  15. Jen2 says:

Great photos. Bill is in heaven and so is Hillary. Happy for all three families.

  16. G0tch4 says:

I just had my son on Tuesday (finally! Suck it Mila and Ashton!) and my mother has been alllll over this kid since he came out. I’m not surprised Hilary is holding this kid in every picture. My dad held him too but he’s perfectly content to let my mom gobble him up.

    • Ag says:

      congrats! 🙂

yeah, my mom was like that too. not surprised that hillary is hogging the baby. 🙂

    • Tulip says:

@Gotch4: Congratulations to you! All the best, that is lovely news:)

And of course congrats to Chelsea and her family. There’s good news for a lot of people today.

    • mia girl says:

      Ahhh, congratulations!

    • Rae says:

Every grandfather I’ve ever known is more than happy to admire their grandbaby from afar while grandma doesn’t want to let go. Lol!

  17. Chris says:

Not that excited about the idea of another Clinton in the White House. It’d just be the same old same old. Sure she’d be the first female President and all that but Obama made history to get elected too and we’ve seen how that’s turned out. But then again I guess it’d be business as usual no matter who got elected.

    • Nicolette says:

I’d be happy to have someone who knows what they’re doing and has our best interests at heart. That person has yet to be seen however.

  18. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I’m not a Bill and Hill fan, but I like Chelsea, and I’m happy for them all.

    • RobN says:

I always kind of felt sorry for her; I think she had to be the go between for her parents during bad times and that sucks for a kid.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I agree. Can you imagine being in college when all of that stuff was coming out about her father and Monica Lewinsky? Witnessing her mother’s pain and hearing such awful, embarrassing stuff about her dad? I feel for her, too. I’m glad she’s happy now.

  19. HughJass says:

Sometimes men are a bit nervous holding newborns – even dads and grand-dads (at first). Doesn’t surprise me that Hilary is the one in photos.m Congrats!

  20. katy says:

Look at how happy Hilary and Bill look! How sweet! Congrats to all!

  21. Blythe says:

I don’t know, but Grandpa Clinton is so cute.

    And, Charlotte. Charlotte’s cute, too.

  22. Alexa says:

I love that first pic of Hillary! She’s a pretty cute lady that could use a little flirting with, imo.

  23. hmmm says:

    Awwww. Authentic emotion.

Absolutely lovely and loving pix. Mazel tov!

  24. Miffy says:

I would love to say Grandpa Bill and Grandma Hillary in action. He’s going to be the one crawling around on the floor letting Charlotte use him as a pony while Hillary uses Peppa Pig figures and a baby voice to explain public health reform. Gah! I can’t! It’ll be too cute! Sincerest congrats to them, the next generation of a family making its debut is always magical.

Sidenote: Chelsea looks great! I had my newest arrival five weeks ago and I sure as hell didn’t look like that in any hospital photos.

  25. MissMary says:

I’m loving the pics. Bill and Hillary look so thrilled and not at all like it’s a staged pic or something, and Chelsea (who I really admire–she seems like she truly loves working to help others) and her hubs look so happy. Mazel tov to the lot of ’em and eff the people posting hateful things about the baby and family on twitter and other places.

  26. Someonestolemyname says:

Awww so sweet. Lovely family.. Hillary and Bill look elated.
Congratulations to the family. Wonderful photos.
