Is Robert Pattinson thinking about moving back to London for FKA Twigs?

Robert Pattinson has been calling Los Angeles homebase for years now. It’s unusual for a British actor his age – most of the other younger Brit actors can’t get home to England fast enough. But not Sparkles. He’s owned a few homes in LA, and I think he’s currently renting a smaller property in a gated community. Over the past six months or so, he’s talked a lot about why he likes LA and why he’s decided to call it home. But not so much anymore? In a new interview with The Independent, Sparkles says he might be done with LA. You can read the piece here, and here are some highlights:

Sparkles on selling his big mansion in LA: “The house was so amazing. I wasn’t really thinking when I got it. I was just living in LA and had been living in and out of hotels, and you have money for the first time.”

He might be done with LA: “If you are the kind of person who needs to be pushed into doing something, then Hollywood is not the right place, so I think I might be done with Los Angeles. I’ve just realised that in the past few weeks. I think I need to spend more time in London, or just move around a bit more. I’ve been in LA for six or seven years or something and it’s weird. The more you stay there, especially as an actor, the more you think you need to be there, that you’ll be missing out on something by leaving, but you are not really. It’s a fun city, though, but you are permanently on holiday there. I feel like I’ve been on holiday there since I was 22.”

He self-obsessed: “I self-obsess a lot. When I’m doing interviews I’m always waiting for some stupid remark to come out… I try to avoid getting into any subject where I’m locked into something. It’s not like I’m a politician or something. I used to be so dumb in interviews, I used to try and make jokes all the time and everyone is thinking, ‘this guy is a moron, he’s just been saying dumb stuff for years and years’.”

Doing character work: “It’s quite nice doing small parts. Then the film isn’t totally reliant on what I do in it, so I get to work with who I want to work with and it’s not my fault if it doesn’t make any money.”

[From The Independent]

“It’s not my fault if it doesn’t make any money…” says the movie star who only does small, artsy movies these days. I mean, don’t get me wrong, he’s making smart and interesting choices these days, but many directors are hiring him because they hope he will bring some of his Twihard fanbase to their artsy movies.

As for his new-found dislike of living in LA… I think it might be because he’s dating FKA Twigs. I believe FKA Twigs lives full-time in London. She’s come to visit him in LA – they were spotted holding hands in Venice Beach two weekends ago or something. But maybe he’ll move back to London because of a girl. Wouldn’t be the worst reason. Meanwhile, FKA Twigs has been the victim of internet trolls, harassment and racism online because of her thing with Sparkles.

Robert Pattinson’s new girlfriend FKA Twigs has been the target of a barrage of online racist abuse since her relationship with the former Twilight star become public — and she’s decided enough is enough. Speaking out via her Twitter account on Sunday, September 28, the half-Jamaican, half-Spanish singer slammed the internet trolls who have been leaving her racist messages, and proved she wouldn’t be bullied.

“I am genuinely shocked and disgusted at the amount of racism that has been infecting my account the past week,” the 26-year-old singer, real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett, wrote. “Racism is unacceptable in the real world and it’s unacceptable online.”

Pattinson, 28, and FKA Twigs started dating last month, as Us Weekly exclusively revealed. Last week, the couple went public with their romance, cuddling up together in a car and holding hands while out in Los Angeles. Internet trolls — some apparently fans of Pattinson, some fans of his ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart — have been leaving unpleasant racist remarks on the award-winning singer’s Twitter feed ever since, suggesting the actor has made a mistake in his choice of girlfriend. But whatever the internet trolls say, Pattinson and FKA Twigs are happy.

“They are trying to avoid making a spectacle of their relationship, but at the same time both enjoy going out with their friends,” a source told Us.

“They connect on music, which is something that Rob keeps pretty close to his heart,” the source continued. “A lot of his close friends are musicians. He loves her voice, he loves her sense of style as well, how unique she is.”

[From Us Weekly]

It IS unacceptable. I can’t believe the Rob-loonies and Twihards are attacking FKA Twigs. Enough. Robsten is broken. Sparkles can date anyone he wants to date.

She Is very talented and cool. She was just nominated for the mercury prize her in the uk which is like the most prestigious award. If anything this has made me like pattison more. He is not just playing at being arty he must be generally interested and arty if he is attracted to someone like fka twigs.
Most young actors in Hollywood act all hipster and arty and then they date some stereotypical model or actress.

  2. Abbott says:

Kaiser, you need to update your Sparkle Recognition Software because that photo was SHOPPED!

  3. Dani2 says:

The robsteners out there who are leaving racist comments on her social media are the worst and I applaud her response on Twitter, she doesn’t owe them anything and I like that she addressed it. A lot of them are really letting their racist flags fly and I’m glad the media’s picking up on it.

  4. Annie says:

This fandom is a mess. Anything that removes him from that crowd is a good idea. I’m so glad all of that is in the past for him. So happy to see him be so free and open with someone new. He is obviously so into her he’s not afraid to be seen holding hands and cuddling in a car. It’s hilarious how the Robsten fans had all these theories on why they were not seen together in over year and then this hits them in the face out of nowhere. I knew we’d have a backlash and tantrums when he got a new girl, officially, but I never thought it would be so soon and that it would be this bad. As if they could break them apart or ruin his happiness.

  5. Paige says:

I’ve never heard of her. What is she famous for?

    • Liz says:

      Singer/songwriter and really talented IMO.

    • Dany says:

Never heard of her too. The comments here are so positive, so i think she must be a very good singer and worth a youtube search. I´ll check some of her songs later.

Someone an advice what her best songs are?

      • attitude problem says:

One of her most beautiful songs is Closer. Definitely one of my favorites that is not easily categorized into a genre. She’s amazingly artistic and well-spoken. Check out her Mercury Prize Q&A on YT.

      • Melly M says:

        “Two weeks” is my favorite.

    • Ctkat1 says:

It’s funny, I just bought one of her songs a week before this whole story blew up, so I actually knew who she was- I hate her stage name, it initially turned me off.
She’s a singer/dancer (YouTube a video of her vogueing, she’s really good), her sound is sort of “new r&b”, if that makes sense?
      I like “two weeks” best.

  6. QQ says:

These people (no… These WOMEN!) are so damned gross for this! UGH

and frankly if the *ahem* chemical issues Lainey keeps not so secretly pointing at are true ..she REALLY Dont need this shit

    • suziekew says:

QQ I wouldn’t give two cents for anything Laney says about Rob. She has always been partial to the female in that past relationship and never misses an opportunity to put him down. He is respected by his directors and peers and have never shown any indication that drugs are part of his life.

As for Twigs, I think they are wonderful together and I love her artsy style and think she is beautiful. Go Rob and Tahliah!

      • attitude problem says:

        Co-sign +100, Suzie.

      • Bridget says:

Except… he hangs with a crew of partiers in L.A. and he may be quiet about it, but he’s a regular on that scene.

      • Mia4S says:

” He is respected by his directors and peers…”

So were Philip Seymour Hoffman and Heath Ledger to name two. The “indications” are rarely made public. If true, he’s not a bad person, but he does need to smarten the hell up. Far FAR better actors and much better men have gone down to drugs. It doesn’t discriminate.

  7. Brittaki says:

I like Rob so much better now that he’s with Twigs. She’s ten times the woman Kristen Bitey-Lip is and it seems like she brings out the best in him. Love this coupling, I really hope they go the distance.

  8. mia girl says:

Yeah, Pattinson moving back sounds like a good idea… but the real story here is the racist attacks on this woman. On Jezebel, I saw some screen caps of stuff people were leaving on her Instagram/twitter and it blows the mind.

I hope she and Sparkles have a full-on love making session in front of some paps – just to finally blow these idiot, racist fans’ minds into tiny bits all over their computer screens.

    People suck.

  9. Annie says:

Me too! She’s so interesting and different. Her music is sexy. She is sexy. Rob did good.

  10. whatsmyname? says:

Good for her for not letting that fly and calling them out on it it’s gross.

  11. Diana B says:

That is so disgusting. What kind of psycho does that? I admit to not thinking she’s that good looking but at the end of the day HE is the one who should find her attractive. And racial slurs? really? God, people on the internet are cray-cray and the anonimity just brings out their true nature. So awful. They seem to really like each other so I hope the trolls don’t scare her away.

  12. kri says:

When will this sh*t stop??! Are people for real leaving her racist messages because she is gracing Rob with her presence? I like him-much more to him than I realized and she is very unique and different. I am so pissed at the world sometimes. Get it together, idiots-it’s 2014! BTw, there is a really cute african american guy who works at the hospital with me..he’s been flirting ALOT and although I thought my mojo was sooo done, I am intrigued. So I told a couple of friends and got the shock of my life when some of them “cautioned” me about “maybe doing this”. I was floored. I”m only 5’3 and he’s like 6’1, so I simply declared that I was going to climb him and enjoy every second of it. And he has the most gorgeous voice…I wonder what the reaction will be when I describe all the fun. In detail. During lunch. Possibly with sound effects.

  13. BlackVeronicaLake says:

I feel like society don’t mind black men with non black women. But have a serious problem with black women with anyone. I know I’m a married black woman and people act shocked when I say I’m married. Like black women don’t get married or have boyfriends. I feel like when it comes to love black women get the most discrimination. Where’s black men like Kanye for instance are praised. Even though he is with a very low life woman.

  14. Lark says:

Good for him for moving out of L.A…..it just didn’t seem like a good fit for him. Re: There are so many nasty, racist trolls on twitter and I’m sure the Robsten/twi-hards made it even worse. They need to move on from what was likely a PR relationship in the first place. The fan entitlement….it’s like they honestly think KStew is Bella and Rob is Edward. The nuttiest thing is both have clearly moved on. Personally, I think FKA Twigs is too good for Rob…she’s awesome.

  15. Alex says:

Twihards and Robsten stans are the worst. Seriously these two have been broken up for years…get over it. I’m glad she addressed the situation in a classy manner. Because it’s ridiculous how quickly racism comes out on twitter and other media when things happen.

  16. Jamie says:

People can be so gross on the internet. They feel it’s their right to say things they’d never dare say in real life. Though some of these insane fans are probably crazy enough to spew their hate in real life, too. That’s the bottom line: these so-called fans who can’t look at him in another relationship and be happy for him… they’re just flat out crazy. What they’re doing and saying isn’t acceptable or normal.

I admit to being a fan of his, and am so tired of being lumped in with all the crazies. There are plenty of us who are sane enough to recognize he’s happy and be happy for him, and her. Truthfully, this relationship makes me like him more. It’s nice that he doesn’t seem to have a type, and is open minded enough to date someone who is completely different from the people he’s been linked with in the past.

    • Anname says:

Fans of his get why he would be into her, but it shocked some people! Some of the Twigs fan tweets were quite funny – it seems like such an odd pairing at first glance, not knowing anything about Rob.

      • Jamie says:

I can understand shock. I’m a little surprised myself, but probably in a more positive way than most. I kinda expected him to go for someone more waifish and delicate hipster-ish. Pleasantly surprised to see him with someone like Twigs, who seems to have some substance and spunk.

Still, being shocked at the pairing is no reason for blatant racism and hate. That’s beyond surprised and venturing into nasty, unacceptable territory.

      • Anname says:

        Totally agree, no excusing it.
Of course there were also some surprised in a good way 🙂

  17. Anname says:

No fan group wants to claim the racists, obviously. There are probably a few in each group. Rob-only fans who don’t want to see him with a non-white girl, Kristen fans who just want to prove how much better they think Kristen is, or Robsten fans who can’t accept the the end of that relationship. They are awful humans regardless of which fandom group they identify with.
It just sucks for both Rob and Twigs, so so much pressure at the beginning of a relationship is tough. As much as Twilight has given to Rob, he has paid a price for it. Twigs seems like a confident strong woman, she will need to be taking on that relationship. Hope they continue to support each other and make each other happy.

    • Jamie says:

Right. Any way it’s sliced, it’s not okay. There is no excuse good enough for that behaviour. Whether it’s a racial issue, or because they can’t handle the Robsten break up, the reaction is not justified. They should have enough respect for him to honour his choice.

She does seem to have a thick skin and handled her response gracefully. That makes me hope that will be able to maintain some normalcy in a very non-normal situation.

  18. Tig says:

She is a professional musician- it’s a tough competitive area, and feel sure she has dealt with much worse than idiots posting crap on Twitter, etc. Of course, not saying she should have to.

I wish he would move back to London, tho he really does seem to enjoy LA. Hope he and she have fun- maybe Rob can be a roadie on her next tour? LOL

  19. Tiffany :) says:

I am impressed by her statements on racism. Short and to the point.

  20. Noone says:

I think falling in love is an amazing experience which everyone should have so leave these two alone to enjoy theirs…

  21. Source says:

It is NOT Rob’s fans who are saying that horrible stuff. It is the ROBSTEN people and K fans.

  22. Blue says:

I can’t believe these racist losers are attacking FKA Twigs. She’s a beautiful girl and they seem like a great couple. I hope she doesn’t let this get her down. Racism is truly evil.
