It was Boob Central at last night’s amfAR gala honoring Tom Ford. Miley Cyrus and Rihanna both got their girls out, so I’m not going to cover those photos here (you can see the questionable photos here). You’ll have to excuse me, because I wrote the earlier Gwyneth Paltrow story before these photos came out, so now I think that “probably” is a “definitely.” As in, Gwyneth Paltrow is DEFINITELY feeling smug about Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin’s breakup. Goop sabotaged their relationship brilliantly. And you can see it all on her face at this event. She’s so pleased with herself! Her face says “Take your peasant Doritos and go home, little girl.” Chris Martin was at this event too, although he didn’t walk the carpet. Goop was the emcee and she introduced Chris’s two-song performance. Goop’s suit is Tom Ford, obviously.

Lea Michele in Versace. She looks so thin to me, but I guess she’s had this body for a while. She’s really trying to be seen as “sexy” these days. Are you buying it?

Phhhhft. No fan of Goop’s, but that’s a position recently occupied by Kristen Stewart when she too had an auto-money making YA franchise that anyone else besides her could have starred in and also been named “the #1 most bankable star in the world.”
The only female that star that seems to be able to star in original one offs, and have them make money *on her name alone* is Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock and also Melissa McCarthy seems to do a nice job of that w/ her comedies.
Pookah, good point – but Lawrence is well positioned to make that jump, better than anyone else out there. And her performances in the HG films has given them an extra dimension that they would probably have lacked otherwise, and pushed that franchise into the mega leagues, way beyond Twilight or any other YA product. Catching Fire made more money last year than any other film, including Iron Man 3 – Gwyneth, take note…
I think she’s already there. She’s in the middle of 2 huge franchises so she isn’t do a lot of separate films, but her other movies have done well too (plus lots of award nominations) and I think she easily has the star power to launch a successful film on her own.
I’d also add Cameron Diaz, Meryl Streep, and possible Scarlett Johannson to the list.
Can’t stand Goop but I think she could care less about Catching Fire gross. It only made more than IM3 domestically. Worlwide sale put IM 3 over a billion while Catching fire didn’t quite hit that Mark. IM3 is the 6 th highest grossing film of all time, while CF is the 37th highest grossing film of all time. I’m sure that’s a win in Goop”s book.
V4Real, you are right, I was working off the domestic figures! However, the basic point remains the same. Lawrence has helped to push the HG franchise into uncharted waters for YA (and Variety is reporting this evening that Mockingjay is tracking for the biggest opening of the year), on top of her three Oscar noms – so she probably isn’t losing too much sleep about Goop’s triumph.
As if Kristen Stewart had 3 Oscar nominations under her belt or a Oscar for best Actress or about every other acting award out there … Look at Jennifer Lawrence Wiki page under awards… The chick has literally won every award in the world since she 17 , even I was amazed .
Besides Stewart was a co lead for those vampire movies and they never made especially in North America as much money as Hunger movies nor did her serious films make bank and critical success.
@Jill oh hell yeah JLaw has a much better career than Goop and I agree with those of you who said Jen could open a movie on her name. I will say that people flocked to see HG because of Jen, not many would say they saw IM3 because of Goop
I doubt JLaw has a career when she is 42. Goop was never chasing big Hollywood. She was offered Kate Winslet’s role in Titanic and did Sliding Doors instead. She is still doing one movie a year, mostly indie work, and although some of her recent movies didn’t garner much critical acclaim it is never her fault. I believe she did IM because Favreau came from independent cinema and because of the cast, RDJ, Bridges and Howard (who wasn’t known as a nut case yet)
If J-Law wants it, she’ll have a long film career, given her talent.
Jennifer’s career arc has easily “eclipsed” KStew, no contest, what has Stewart appeared in since mini-Cooper-gate? Nothing anyone has seen. Jennifer is in the Hunger games franchise, X-men and various Oscar bait. Their careers could not be more different.
For V4REAL. It’s not like IM3 made over one billions dollar because of Goop. It was Iron man the most popular avenger and Robert. So no reason to be a smug here. Career wise Jennifer is on top of everyone. Goop can sit and enjoy her “victor” but she wishes she had her career. Anyway, time to move on. I doubt Jen care that much.

You know, I think her goal in this was to be the ANTI-Jennifer Aniston, and I do have to say she pulled it off brilliantly, but then again, losing Chris Martin to a beautiful starlet is not the same as losing Brad Pitt to one. I kind of understand what your underlying point is. I think a LOT of female celebrities that have had big news breakups are tying to take the opposite approach. They are trying not to be seen as the “Poor” this or that. In that regard I think what you are saying is correct. Big difference is Chris and Gwyneth are parents of 2 children. That is a life long connection. I would hope that any couple that has children try to at least be civil to each other.
for some women being the wounded bird is not a desirable position. They want to be seen as strong and moving forward. Distancing themselves from that past. I see Katie Holmes is taking that approach too. Being the poor jilted one gives you press; but the public turns on that narrative at some point.

She strikes me as the type that loves showing how modern and wonderful her and Chris are as parents and ex’s as long as no other woman is around. As soon as he brings in a new woman she feels threatened and doesn’t like it. When she has a new partner and he doesn’t, she feels powerful and in control but as soon as he brings in someone, especially someone like JLaw, who is younger, pretty and her career is skyrocketing… suddenly Gwen doesn’t feel so great. The ironic thing is that if you really are that mature as a co-parent with her ex and still maintain a good relationship because maybe you care about each other but just can’t be married, then you are happy for the other person and glad that they have found someone nice for themeselves. She is just fake cool.

Arrrgh. This woman is the worst. In my entire life. …never encountered anyone so conniving and determined to make others feel horrible about themselves. What I heard is JLAW was more of a friendship type thing but GP didn’t care. She simply could not allow public to believe Chris still isn’t mourning for her. Meanwhile, Chris is distancing himself from her, contrary to what she wants us to think. He is in said to be still madly in love with Alexa and most likely has lost her, as he did Natalie. because of this shrew chasing them both away. He finally after years left her. (Know you guys won’t remember but a couple friends of mine and I used to visit this site, said for years that marriage was sham – how he had been trying to, and planned to leave her since 2008 after all her cheating…., but she – EVERY time – pulled some stunt using their poor kids as pawns.) She is now worse. But I am really sorry for Chris. He cares about those kids so much. Going along with all her PR for more access to them, plus got caught up in JLAW mess. Sad cause he was so happy with another chance for true love with Alexa, he finally left her and was happy to GP started massive PR attack on her and drove her away – hopefully just for now. Just look at him right after breakup – he was visibly ecstatic! But segway to couple weeks ago and he was at rock bottom again because of her and the JLAW mess. Went home to England for event, saw family, chased down Alexa in Europe and came back and ended it with JLAW which he felt bad about but not about to get serious with her. and gave GP holy heck. Told GOOPers her games had to stop, for kids sake and no more Mr. Nice Guy. But those who know him are terrified he will just cave again as he can’t seem to get away from her constant interference. I’ve heard for years what a great guy he is, how miserable he was because of her, and everyone loved him etc. but people are losing patience with him at this point. So I hope he can act like a man, and an adult, for his kids sake and pull it together soon by putting stop to Gwyneth’s reign of PR BS demands. For himself and mostly for their children. And her “uncoupling” is making a mockery to those of us who are genuinely amicable with our exes and have kids involved, just like she is an embarrassment to women and Americans. So please think good thoughts for Chris and the kids because he is really at a crossroads now. Broken as before. Most I know believe he will NEVER go back to her, is gaining back more control and it will work out best for him and kids. BUT as we all know, there is no one more frightening than a control freak who is losing control…and Gwyneth is the worst control freak ever, so she is just going to be making things even worse now (I know, hard to believe possible but with GP she will). I feel for Jlaw. I got involved with a separated guy with a kid around the same time. She is pretty young so i wouldnt be surprised if she went into it naively thinking (as i did) separated = divorced. They are two completely different set of circumstances.
While I commend Goop and Chris for staying friends and on good terms because they have kids, that level of “intimacy” (dinner dates without kids etc) isn’t conducive to eithe of them moving on to new relationships. They seem conflicted to me about the divorce OR Chris Martin is pathetic and let Gwenyth rule his life forever. Of course Jlaw looked at the situation after a few months and saw Chris really isnt fully “available” as long as Gwenyth and him continue to carry on in limbo. He’s stupid if he thinks any decent chick is going to put up with him carrying on with his (seperated) wife like this. its one thing to coparent, its another to carry on like they do. you have to cut the ties more if you honestly expect to move on to a healthy relationship.
