Does he always strut around town like that? He looks like he’s acting in a movie. He walked straight into the road, that could have ended up really tragic.
I don’t know if he was being that careless…he was just in a different country. He looked to the right for a substantial amount of time, which is where Americans expect on coming traffic to be coming from. If he had looked to the left for UK traffic, he probably wouldn’t have gone into the street. I think he was just disoriented.
He was acting. This was filming for MI5 so it’s “Ethan Hunt” that almost got hit- or at least it was suppose to appear that way. He meant to step out in front of it.
yeah, the way that NO ONE was rushing up to get an autograph from TOM CRUISE THE MOVIE STAR made me wonder…it looked like it was a movie.
Hate to admit it…but it seems he must be a pretty good actor after all because he fooled a lot of people into thinking this was real!
No way when you see it at the end the guy on the bicycle has a joke with him about it. Maybe a “blooper”.

This happens a lot in the UK. Tourists look to the right to check for oncoming traffic (you see him do this) but they forget that traffic is on the “wrong” side of the road.
I once almost got clipped by a taxi in London for making the same mistake. You quickly adapt though, after one or two near accidents!

THis was filming of MI5…it’s ETHAN that almost gets hit. If you saw the rest of the stills you would know it was filming so it was meant to happen.

I’ve been really down about things too, QQ. As a kid I believed in my country so much, you know? That even though we aren’t perfect, we have the ability to change and recognize wrongs and prevent them from being allowed in the future. I have been heart broken to see that after decades of change for the better, it seems like we are standing still or going backwards.
I just can’t handle people trying to justify lethal force for minor crimes, like holding a toy without an orange tip. Or selling cigarettes for 50 cents. There are so many stories of excessive force, I can’t keep them straight! That is so, so very wrong.
That looks like a crowd scene for MI5 (or whatever number they are at).
They try to make those look as realistic as possible. He is walking confidently and in a very studied manner across the screen whilst looking at the camera fixed beyond whoever was making this video. Plus when he pulls back, he starts talking to the guy on the bike – TC would never spontaneously talk to a random person like that. The guy on the bike is part of the scene and or part of the production.
You are wrong. That guy on the bike was not an extra and TC almost getting hit by a bus wasn’t planned either. You can’t stop traffic in the evening on Piccadilly Circus.
Flora: unless you were on the set, you can’t know that for sure.
I use Piccadilly circus everyday, i’m perfectly aware of the traffic conditions. And I know what the light looks like around Piccadilly during the day. It’s much, MUCH more crowded than it is here in the evening. No way would he walk unrecognised and that easily across Piccadilly if it was the evening.
There are several high action films like those Jason Bourne films which have been filmed in the midst of rush hour exactly like this eg Waterloo Station was used with invisible cameras set up and the JB character rushing through the station during normal rush hour. The commuters’ normal day wasn’t interrupted.
The MI5 production has been using real life conditions to shoot.
Tom Cruise has very strict instructions about set interactions. He wouldn’t talk to a random just like that, plus he travels with a cadre of bodyguards all the time.
Lak: I think I read it was really early in the morning- like before dawn or something?IDK..but they were filming as the other videos that go with it prove so. There are pictures of the director and others and him going into a phone booth…etc. The daily mail and other sites had more pictures so it’s clear he was filming.
So how high are his lifts again?
Any word on whether he and Morrissey were holding hands and skipping while singing “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out” when it happened?
