Above is a photo of Rachel McAdams at the airport in LA this weekend. If you didn’t tell me this was Rachel McAdams, I would have no idea who this was. That’s because she’s switched up her shoulder length blonde hair to that longish bob that’s all the rage now, along with dyeing it ombre with light tips. Below is what Rachel looked like in October at Canada’s Walk of Fame Awards. (Check out the gallery for a photo of her with a lady mountie!) She may be growing her hair out and showing the roots, but there are also photos of her as a blonde in November so I think she dyed it.
This isn’t the first time Rachel has sported dip-dyed hair. Remember the pink tips she had back when she was with Ryan Gosling? I always think of her with pink hair when I remember the two of them together. I mean I saw The Notebook, but this is the image that comes to mind, not that iconic “kissing in the rain” picture. This photo is from January, 2007. Memories.
Rachel switches up her hair often. She had red hair earlier this year and then she went darker blonde before going lighter blonde. Right now all her films are in post-production so she’s trying a more daring look. (She could have this hair for her upcoming role in True Detective, as US Magazine points out.) I’m not too fond of the cut, it looks shaggy, but she just came off a flight. It’s possible she took her extensions out and is trying to grow out her natural hair.
Also she could be trying to go incognito. It probably works most of the time! I think she’s pulling off this look. It’s very European. I wouldn’t have the guts to try this with my hair, I have blonde security blanket hair, but she’s making me want a big tartan scarf.

It’s ugly and I will never understand the appeal of ombre colored hair.
I can understand really great highlights… even with a little bit of dark root showing.
But I do not care for the ombre thing either. It is not remotely flattering. Sadly, it just looks like you bleached your hair at home… and now you are too lazy to go back and do your roots.

She does have a very pretty face, so she could look great in short styles as well as longer. Right, I do not care for the shaggy cut along with the ombre color–looks like she is in between styles or something. Some women cannot style their own hair and are no good at it, so they depend on stylists for everything. Having a sweet face certainly helps with any style you want to have at the moment.
It’s hard to get a good look at it but I think it could be cute. She has the face for shorter hair. I think the ombre can be kinda fun and edgy but it’s definitely not for everyone.

I am quite fond of ombré hair in general but the colours she chose here are boring. Ombré hair is more interesting and edgy with unusual colours like silver, baby blue or light powder pink.
I did a bright/deep red shade once. It looked pretty fantastic, and I miss it.
I don’t think she would purposefully have this look. I think it’s for T.D. Anyhoo – Merry Christmas to me!! I love Ryan/Rachel nostalgia just in time for the holidays. I will never tire of looking at pics of them together – esp. this one! She looks amazing w/that hair and I love the dress!
She’s so pretty and can get away with almost anything. My favorite was the pink hair, tho. It was sort of an unusual look for an actress back then, wasn’t it?

In cognito? I spotted her 500m away at an outdoor festival… she’s gorgeous and unmistakable. I was hammered and we had a very nice chat (I still get giddy about it lol) but I don’t see how one could NOT see that it’s her. Big sunnies and all…
The hair length is cute — but ombre is ugly at any length!
Ombre patently looks neglected, like she hasn’t been able to get to a salon in 6 months.
That shade of blonde, however, looks far more flattering with her skin-tone than the orange-hued haircolor in the 2nd and last photos.
Gah she’s just so freakin gorgeous! She’s my girl crush, the one and only one. She’s so girl next store but also angelic as far as beauty, IMO. And likeable and down to earth, as well. I wish she’d do more films….with good scripts. I don’t think she is of the Blanchett/Mirren/DDL caliber as an actor or anything, but she’s got such a strong screen presence….And she’s not a diva, to boot! I think she carries a little old school hollywood glamour, when the women were elegant, beautiful and yet somehow a bit innocent in their looks and persona (even if all an act). It was just pleasant to watch them and that’s how I feel about Rachel-she’s so pleasant to watch on the screen.
Rachel usually changes her hair for roles and I think this is for True Detective but honestly, she’s beautiful inside and out. I’ve met her a couple of times and she’s so humble and down to earth sweet as pie, I was so awestruck & star struck. I’ll always be a fan and wish her great success.

Really beautiful woman, but this hairstyle and color are not flattering.
Will love her till the end of time. But the hair… will have to see it properly styled to judge, but the ombre looks particularly severe there. Dark brown to immediate light blonde is not a good look! It should fade to blonde!
