Kristen Stewart cussed out an autograph seeker: rude or utterly justified?

Warning: the following story and video may make you sympathetic towards Kristen Stewart. I know! While Kristen isn’t my favorite person in the world, I’ll admit that I think she gets a raw deal… sometimes. Yes, she’s sort of rude and sulky and more often than not, the woman cannot express her thoughts coherently (and she ends up offending more people). But she’s not always wrong.

So, here’s the story. Kristen basically spent all of the Christmas holiday hanging out with her BFF (and rumored girlfriend) Alicia Cargile. They went to Hawaii together for New Year’s and then they returned to LA over the weekend. When they arrived at LAX, the paparazzi swarmed. As did other people, fans (I guess?) and autograph seekers. One autograph seeker in particular wanted Kristen to sign a photo of herself and Robert Pattinson. She refused. The guy kept following her outside. She cussed him out. He still asked her to sign. Alicia steps in at one point to say she would sign Kristen’s name, as a joke, but it’s just… really uncomfortable. Beware: there is NSFW language in the video.

This just made me feel sorry for Kristen. This autograph-seeker seemed like such a troll. She already told him no and he kept following her? She doesn’t owe him anything and he needs to step off and give her some space. As for all of the paparazzi trailing her and asking her about Robert Pattinson… gross. It feels like Kristen is being bullied and laughed at.

I don’t really feel sympathetic but it’s uncalled for. People are obnoxious.

    • muggles says:

Is it just me, or does her BFF (?) look like the old friends version of Jennifer Aniston ( before her face transplant, jaw realignment, 3rd nose job and fillers no one talks about). It’s the jaw/chin thrusting thing and nose. Uncanny.

  2. Jennifer says:

Yes, that’s totally her girl friend. But I feel bad- what a terrible way to live. At least she’s rich.

    • Brittney B says:

Yeah, people don’t always realize the extent of paparazzi harassment when they criticize stars for complaining. Yes, it’s part of fame… but should it be? Really? I don’t think it’s okay to equate ANYTHING with rape, but after watching videos like these, I do empathize with how violating and intrusive it is to get hounded like this. And Kristen has gotten the absolute worst of it, for years. It’s a wonder she maintains her composure as much as she does.

      • Bob Loblaw says:

Celebrities are part of the formula, some of her behavior has lead to the circus act that surrounds her, there are plenty of famous people who do not get harrassed this way. I’m not trying to “blame the victim” but she needs to deal with the reality and hire some burly people to keep trolls at bay and keep her safe. She can afford it with all her Twilight money.

      • bns says:

I really do believe that she calls the paps, or hangs out in places that are frequented by paparazzi. She’s papped almost every single day.

      • K says:

I think all celebrities are, actually. We don’t hear them all complain, but that may be the lack of sympathy. Agreed some seek the attention -they go places paps are guaranteed to be – but even those who don’t get brutally harassed.

      • muggles says:

It’s funny, she never got half the sympathy she does now that she no longer is with ‘Rpatz,’ I always knew most of the rage stroke other females had over this girl was due to her then boinking dreamy Edward…now that she may be gay, girls are all like, ‘dude leave Kristen alone!!’ She acted the same way when she was with Pattinson, giving loser papz no quarter and rightfully sneering at them…but then massive amounts of meangirls would scream, ‘YOU UNGRATEFUL BISH, SUCK IT UP!!’ Lololol. Some women are so transparent and hilarious.

  3. Mia4S says:

He’s likely one of those “professional” autograph hounds. They are beyond gross, rude, and know exactly what they’re doing. This doesn’t make me feel sorry for her but I don’t have any problem with her response.

    • Amelia says:

I got elbowed in the face by a professional autograph hunter once. The same one also refused to move to allow an elderly lady in a wheelchair a better view of what was going on.
      Scum of the earth.

  4. Miranda says:

Oh wow, all I could think of was Sam Ronson and Lilo!

  5. Dani2 says:

Yeah, that guy deserved it, I’ve spotted celebs many a time and if they’ve ever given off the “please don’t approach me, I just want to do whatever it is I came here to do in peace” vibe, I just leave it, this guy was trolling so whatever he got was his problem, not hers.

  6. 'P'enny says:

Ewan McGregor summed up his hate recently towards autograph hunters, he stated that a lot of the aggressive ones are in it for the money and are not fans at all. I can imagine there are a lot of them at LAX who are particularly out to make money.

  7. aims says:

I’m going to play devils advocate for a bit. She’s a very wealthy actress, high profile. She’s going to get harassed when she out in public. Nobody should have to endure obnoxious, rude behavior, but unfortunately for her it comes along with the job. It sucks and it’s ridiculous but it comes along with the gig.

    • bettyrose says:

Yeah I don’t give a crap if she gets harrassed even if by “professional” autograph seekers. Her fame is based largely on winning the lottery of looking enough like a character in a best-selling book. If she were an indie queen there’d be a lot less harrassment. She made her choice.

      • bettyrose says:

I think she enjoys opportunities to be self righteous. This was a win-win.

Edited: I meant to reply to the comments below.

      • Hannah says:

@bettyrose That’s kind of an insane thing to say. Who cares how she got her fame? Besides, the movie franchise is long over. There’s no good reason for harassment.

      • Chesso says:

Paparazzi photographing you, following you around and having to endure professional autograph hunters, sure, and depending on your perspective you can say she made her choice. Being heckled and asked to kiss your rumored girlfriend (while not being out) by several grown up men, and one even asking her to f#ck him? That’s harassment and disgusting.

      • bettyrose says:

Hannah I’ll admit to being biased by the fact that she annoys me, but I still think she enjoys opportunities to be brash in public while taking the moral high ground.

    • delia says:

I don’t think harassment should be part of any job description, that gets too close into she asked for it territory. My sister’s friend stripped and had some harassment issues in public where customers taunted her public – never okay to be subjected to that sort of aggression.

      • aims says:

I was worried that I would come across as she asked for it and I don’t mean to be. What I’m saying is that; she’s a recognizable person. Unfortunately people lose their minds when they come across famous people. Nobody deserves harassment, you should be able to have the right to go out in public like anybody else. Sadly for her, she can’t and that’s because she is a well known name.

      • Kitten says:

Yeah it’s very much in line with “she dressed provocatively, of course men will make comments.”

That kind of viewpoint allows harassment to exist, instead of asking the question “why is it seen as *normal* for celebs to get verbally harassed?”

I can defend the idea that being a celeb goes hand-in-hand with a lack of privacy, but I can’t condone harassment/verbal abuse of any individual in any form. I think it’s sort of inhuman to say that it’s somehow justified just because she’s a famous actress.

      • ichabod says:

@ kitten … thank you for your words of sanity. Under zero circumstances should anyone be bullied, harrassed, and/or verbally abused. Let’s aim higher people!

    • Bob Loblaw says:

Harassment is not okay but if you take either job, actress in a major movie franchise or stripper, you’re going to get a lot of attention and not all of it will be positive. It’s not okay that some men are super creepy but they are and all women need to understand that, especially when they wander into jobs that “fulfill fantasies.”

    • FingerBinger says:

No one should be harassed. A person shouldn’t have to deal with a large aggressive man standing over them insisting they sign a picture when they’ve already said no. No one signs up for that.

    • bns says:

I agree with you. Hollywood is a game and the ones who are really, really famous work to get that kind of notoriety and attention. She knows what she’s doing, so her petulant “I hate fame!” shtick is hilarious.

    • Nikki says:

Are you people really making excuses for this? Taking pictures and signing autographs is what comes with the job.

Someone asking you to sign a picture of you and and your ex continusously after you tell them no is harassment. What job someone has is irrelevant. She didn’t “sign up” for that behavior. Your comments all feel “she asked for it”, victim blaming. That guy was a jerk off and Kristen handled that well, better than most I’m sure.

      • Alicia says:

        @Nikki:

Agree with you. Just by reading the headline you think Stewart is being a jerk, then you read the story and realize she was justified in acting like that. If she had snapped on a regular autograph request seeker and not some professional autograph glory hound, then I would criticize her.

But no one has the right to be harassed like this – celebrity or not. This guy also knew what he was doing by handing her a photo of her and Robert Pattinson trying to get a reaction out of her.

I normally can’t stand her and she comes across as whiny and self-absorbed, but I defend her on this one.

    • J. says:

When they first started filming Twilight, no one had any idea that it would become the phenomenon that it did.

  8. Elly says:

sadly it´s not the first time i´ve seen such a video of her (or other celebs). The crazy Twihards who don´t know what no means on one side and the paparazzi who call her names for a reaction on the other side.

    • mimif says:

When exactly is the Twihard sh-t going to quit? I made the mistake of going to Forks recently and it was still a complete circus.

      • Elly says:

i wonder that too. I mean it is over for years! Why is this still a thing for some people? You should mean they all moved on to a new movie/ series with new stars to fantasize about

  9. delia says:

Really gross having grown men coming at you so aggressively solely for a reaction from you. Not okay at all. I would feel a strong urge to push or slap someone that in my face, but that’s the whole point of the harrassers- then you get arrested and sued.

  10. scout says:

Finally she came out! Good for her. Yeah, some paps/people get in their faces deliberately to get reaction and gala time recording it. She is right to be pissed.

    • Jenna says:

I mean, she hasn’t made any public statement or anything and I don’t expect she will. She’s pretty much just going about her business and living her life as she wants to.

  11. Jenna says:

This troll was not a fan. He’s one of those professional autograph hounds and all he wanted was to get her signature and sell it. For crying out loud, it’s a framed picture of Edward and Bella! A fan is not going to be carrying that. She tried to ignore him but he would not give up. I give credit to Alicia for being so chill.

As for the paparazzi, they were disgusting. They were heckling and taunting for Kristen and Alicia to kiss for the camera. It was downright harassment. Made me sick and uncomfortable to watch.

  12. Ginger says:

I don’t agree with autograph seeker or paparazzi harassment of anyone. It’s ridiculous and dangerous. No doubt she fears for her personal safety and the only way to get an aggressive person to stop is to be aggressive. I’m sure they can spot a genuine fan from an pro autograph seeker. I still think LAX needs to hire additional security and adopt additional security measures not just for the safety of the celebrities but the safety of the general public also using the airport.

    • Jenna says:

Yes, another woman tweeted that she gave her an autograph that night. They can spot these autograph hounds a mile away.

I do find it pretty shocking that airports allow this. It’s a security and a safety concern for everyone around.

  13. Hannah says:

I say justified. I would lose my sh*t if I was in her shoes. “Rob this and Rob that”…kind of horrible.

  14. KT says:

Poor lass, I do feel sorry for celebs when they get treated like this. I always look horrendous when I get off a flight and I can’t think of anything worse than being papped let alone hounded like this. I think she felt with it well by just telling him to go away and ignoring him. I would have probably flipped!

  15. Hazel says:

This was so uncomfortable to watch.

  16. PunkyMomma says:

She absolutely has the right to refuse to sign an autograph. I find it a bit naive on Kristen’s part, though, to expect relief from the Twihards – ever, especially now that she’s onboard for the Facebook Twilight projects with Stephenie Meyer.

    • Jenna says:

That wasn’t a Twihard though, it was a professional autograph hound. You’re right to point out that new Twilight project but that shows she has no problem with it. She was at several events/festivals in recent months and was clearly seen signing Twilight paraphernalia. Her problem here was with that guy.

  17. Domino says:

I hate autograph seekers, but I couldn’t care less about this idiot.

  18. Veronica says:

A rare case of justified. As with any case with a man continuing to harass a woman after she’s said no, I wonder if he’d have kept at it if she were a male celebrity.

  19. Mimz says:

I hate this notion that because you “chose to be an actor” or to star in a blockbuster and become a superstar then “you asked for it”. Very few actors are able to make it BIG in Hollywood, but the ones that are able to now have to deal with crap like this? Harassment, daily insults, people following you and hounding you for autographs and if you dare say No, they cuss you out and act like criminals? I’m sorry, I will not shame anyone, famous or not for being human and not being able to deal with that because “it comes with the job”. So what, must she give up acting, or should she have refused to do twilight and maybe only make little indie movies that barely pay off, because the world is full of a-holes?
I’m sorry, I don’t understand that reasoning. I feel sorry for her, and for celebrities that go through this on a daily basis. It’s horrible.

  20. Tig says:

What I never understand is that if LAX is such a pap-zone, and clearly no one at LAX can or will stop it, if you can afford alternatives, why not use those? Yes, I get no one should have to, doesn’t excuse harassing behavoir, etc- but reality bites sometimes. Apparently, the paps think there is still $$ to be made off her shots.

    • Someone explained it on a post a few years ago–from what I understand, LAX is the biggest, most direct route to LA,etc….basically if you didn’t go there, you’d spend more time traveling (ugh, I’m explaining this horribly)….it’s a time saver if you’re going into LA or the surrounding areas, is how it was explained.

And celebs are pap’d there because of places like TMZ, that pays airport employees to tell them when so and so’s going to be there. That’s why even low key celebs, that paps don’t normally bother with get pap’d there–like Christian Bale and his family.

    • Ctkat1 says:

I used to wonder why celebs didn’t just avoid LAX, but having flown into LA for the past few years, I get it- the airport sucks, but depending on where you’re heading (international flights, or direct domestic flights), it might be the only option.
The real issue is that it seems like the airport could avoid this constant ridiculous situation fairly easily by creating a separate, covered entrance into/out of the airport for celebs to get to their cars. They already provide airport personnel and airport police to escort celebs from their vehicles to their gates, so it seems like creating a separate drop off/pick up area outside of the main vehicle corridor wouldn’t be more expensive than the current system. Yes, it’s elitist as all hell, but it has to be safer, easier, and ultimately cause less work than the current situation. It seems so incredibly unsafe for all of the other people who happen to be in the area whenever a celeb shows up.

  21. aquarius64 says:

GossipCop ran this story and the Twihards are out in full force. Some were expecting ROB to come to her defense and publicly denounce what this sleazy autograph hound has done. Why? They can’t accept that Bedward/Robsten is over. It’s ridiculous. I wouldn’t be surprised if the pap and the autograph hound were working together – one to get the signature, the other to get the money shot of the bad reaction. Whoever was able to make it pay off split the spoils.

  22. Cate says:

If I was her I would have grabbed the guys permanent marker and scrawled a big fat expletive across his framed photograph and said there you go buddy have a nice day.
