Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher welcome son Isaiah Michael

Carrie Underwood, 31, announced on Instagram that she and her husband, Mike Fisher, 34, have welcomed their first child, a boy named Isaiah. I didn’t even remember she was pregnant because it seems like she’s laid low for the past few months. Isaiah was actually born last Friday, February 27. Carrie shared the above photo yesterday, which only showed little Isaiah’s hand. It would have been nice to have seen his face, but at least she told us the name. (*cough* Blake Lively *cough*)

Isaiah is a Biblical name, it’s also a book in the Old Testament. Carrie is an outspoken Christian who reads the bible. She also supports gay marriage, yay! So Carrie and Mike picked a very old school Biblical name. It’s better than Moses, probably because it’s one of the lesser-known Bible names.

Carrie and Mike have been married since July, 2010, and seem to have deliberately waited to have children. Carrie has said several times in the past that she wasn’t ready to have kids yet, and that she knew it would be a big responsibility. To me, that sounds like she waited, considered motherhood carefully and went into it with her husband with open eyes.

Congratulations to Carrie and Mike on their new arrival!

This sounds mean, and I’m sorry, but this guy has such a typical jock doofus face. Like he looks like has nothing going up in his head except BOOBS! HOCKEY!

He may be the smartest, loveliest guy.

And he still has all his teeth!

@Allie. Me too. I feel she could have done better than him. There is some behind those eyes and it is not intelligence.

    • Norman Bates' Mother says:

I don’t know how true is that but Carrie has a rather bad reputation so they are basically a HW high-school movie stereotype – a doofus jock and a mean-girl cheerleader all happy together.

Congrats to her! 31 is a totally normal age to have kids, seems like when some celebs aren’t hindered by financial constraints and don’t have to wait for motherhood like many average folk… they have kids before their relationship can handle it or they are truly ready to assume that responsibility and lifestyle (Ashlee Simpson, for example). Good for her to make sure she was really ready and wanted it!
Oh, and her dress in that last picture is lovely. Understated compared to her usual style and I think she looks beautiful

Yay! I’m not a country person but I like her music on occasion. Plus she seems super level-headed and grateful. Love the name too.

For some reason, I feel like she has been pregnant for a long time. I think it has to do with how much the media has reported on her over the past year. Congratulations! Many blessings for the new baby. By the way, his name is so normal that I almost missed it. xoxo
