Pippa Middleton in mint green Hugo Boss in London: basic or beautiful?

wenn22319006

Here are some photos of Pippa Middleton at the ParaSnowBall in London last night. Her mint-green dress is by Hugo Boss. I know many of you think Pippa is the poster girl for “Basic,” but I actually do think she looks pretty sometimes. This is one of them. Would I prefer this look without the absurdly orange, sun-damaged-looking skin? For sure. But otherwise, this is a great look. Great color, clean, lovely silhouette, and very flattering overall.

This event was a celebration for British para-sports, and Pippa mingled with “a host of medalists and snowsports enthusiasts to celebrate British para-sports at the event.” Pippa is also going to do the British Heart Foundation’s London to Brighton Bike Ride (54 miles) in June.

Earlier this week, we heard that Pippa’s potential job with the Today Show is not going to happen. She would have made a lot of money, but Page Six made it sound like NBC News didn’t want to sign another famous family member to some lucrative contract for barely any work. But! The Daily Mail made it sound like it was Pippa’s decision to not join the Today Show. A source told The Mail:

“There were talks and Pippa did a test shoot which went really well. But for various reasons, a regular show with Pippa isn’t going to happen. Ultimately she didn’t want to commit herself to a big job in the US. She’s got a boyfriend in Geneva and her family in the UK. It was too much for her to pack up and leave them behind. She will be working with the network on an ad hoc basis. NBC were really pleased with the test shoot, but she is not going to be signing a major deal to be a special correspondent, which is what NBC wanted. It was Pippa’s decision not to go ahead. It’s not where she sees her future.”

[From The Daily Mail]

Do you believe that? I do not. I think Pippa is out for a naked money grab in the colonies and she’s probably very disappointed that the Today Show thing bombed. The Daily Beast had a breakdown of what Pippa should do next for her “career,” since #PippaTips will only carry her so far. Their suggestion? She should go back to her party-planning roots and become a party-planner to the rich and famous… outside of England.

She has that shiny Botox forehead going on, and she posed with Heather Mills, otherwise the dress looks fine. Even with all that cleavage it’s kind of a yawn.

  2. HH says:

It’s a cute look. The one upside to her fame is the encouragement that an athletic, strong figure is also beautiful and feminine. Pippa always keeps herself in great shape for her many athletic endeavors. I think it would behoove her to do a Shape magazine cover, or something of the sort. It’s actually believable and aligns with her interest. I would genuinely trust her work out tips.

    • justme says:

She does publish exercise tips in her new Waitrose Weekend columns. (here is an example of one:) https://instagram.com/p/xmYEMylfVS/

She’s probably better off pushing her exercise and sporty side, since she is genuinely athletic.

I think she looks quite pretty in this dress. She is no great beauty, but she is lively and has a good figure.

      • LAK says:

I know they aren’t related (obviously) but she looks so much like Wallis Simpson to me.

      • HH says:

@Justme – thanks for that! That column suits her quite nicely. I think that should be her “brand” if she’s going for the socialite-entrepreneur route.

      • FLORC says:

        LAK
Wow. I can see a bit of Wallis Simpson too now that you pointed it out.
Is this like the wiglet? Once it is seen it cannot be unseen?

  3. Newyorking says:

The dress is pretty just not on her. As long as you don’t look at her face it looks fine.

    • WillowS says:

Ouch. That’s harsh. I think she’s attractive. Nice figure, cute face-there’s nothing wrong with her appearance.

  4. Yeses says:

Orange you glad that her “glistening” forehead does not detract from the pretty dress?

  5. Olenna says:

Nice gown. But, usual, she messes up the overall look with a so-so hair style and sagging bodice. To pull this deep neckline look off, she’s needs push ’em a little higher from her waist. Off topic, but after all this deliberate attention seeking she does, I still don’t know why she always looks like a deer in headlights when photographed.

  6. Betti says:

Lovely dress and colour but she is too orange to pull it off. Girl lay off the tan.

  7. LAK says:

There are lots of random stories that the NBC test shoots didn’t go as well as initially reported. Allegedly she wasn’t a natural and she was overwhelmed by the shoots.

I’d imagine, considering her written prose, that she isn’t one for discussing anything at length or in anyway that doesn’t come across like
    #pippatips.

I think she’s definitely one for money grabbing, as long as she doesn’t have to work for it.

It means she’ll only take those jobs that are easy as she’s done so far.

Not that I’m castigating her for grabbing the money thrown at her. I’d think she was foolish not to.

    • Thinker says:

I think due to her “position” anytime she’s talking to strangers or being recorded she’s self conscious of what she might accidentally say. Overly cautious = awkward on camera.

    • DaysandNightsonair says:

I think she is foolish to not do more preparation for things like test shoots and practice presenting / moderating stuff in front of a camera. You can practice speaking in front of an audience. In that respect she reminds me of Sarah Ferguson and of Kate: neither prepared for presenting and public speaking. Remember Fergie’s cringe-worthy TV show?

  8. Petrichor says:

I like the dress, but it’s bugging me that it doesn’t fit properly at the armpits. It needs a set of darts, I think. It’s just not tailored quite right for her bust.

  9. InvaderTak says:

Guy in the background of the third picture says it all to me. Boring.

  10. India says:

Not beautiful nor pretty. Maybe cute at times. She sure loves to have her picture taken.

  11. Silvia says:

She’s so bland…she has no personality, her styling is usually way off and thank the stars her fifteen minutes are over.

  12. lucy2 says:

The dress is pretty, but I have a general aversion to mint green.
I find it hard to believe she turned down a job with a major TV network. She clearly likes the attention and doesn’t seem to have much else going on, career-wise. It makes no sense she’d say no, especially to something that would be very part time at best.

    • FLORC says:

It also says something that they had to be said. That she turned it down because of basic core values (family).

  13. TessD says:

I think she should occupy the fitness niche – she is famous for her body, so why not do a book or DVD.

  14. Telicity says:

Aside from the fit on top, I’m not a fan of her makeup and hair. This would have looked lovely with a chignon.

  15. k8te says:

You can’t fix where your ta-tas actually are on your chest. I noticed that Pippa, Kate and Carole all have them pretty low down. It makes them seem saggy when they may not be. And it makes one seem high waisted, too.

I like the dress. I like that she is athletic.

    • Hazel says:

There you go, it wasn’t quite the right dress for her body type. Good to see her out & about supporting things like this. I noticed Heather Mills glommed onto her for a photo. Pippa still seems like a normal person in the face of true ‘celebrity’ & that’s a good thing. Pursing the sport & health angle is a good fit for her, I think. I’ve no idea how’d she do as a TV presenter, and we may never know, but that’s OK.

  16. Esmom says:

She’s looked worse. How’s that for a lukewarm assessment?

  17. wendi says:

I think she spends too much time in the sun, but she has an awesome figure – much like Kate’s used to be until she starved herself down to skeletal proportions. Just as the sun takes a toll on your skin, starvation diets are the way to go if you want osteoporosis.

  18. vava says:

I think because of Kim K., I’m suffering from Deep Cleavage Overload. I do wish this trend would pass.

  19. aurelia says:

I am sure she is hoisting her bozzies up with tit tape. Better than seeing her usual droopy dog ears.

  20. jane says:

Every time I see a photo of Pipps, I’m struck by that crazed glee that appears in her eye when she sees a camera. Girl sure loves attention. #ohsoclassy

  21. Nonny says:

    Man arms.

  22. charlie canada says:

For gawd’s sake, girl, get a bra. Does she ever wear one? I don’t think so. Also, her skin is awful. All those moles are sun damage, and on top of that the orange fake tan looks disgusting. Two things that are easily fixable, so that’s why I’m commenting. It’s not fair to comment on her face or arms or pigeon-toedness, since she can’t fix those.
