Mariah Carey is moving to L.A. for her acting career

I always hate it when I hear about celebs leaving New York City and moving to L.A. For some reason, it makes me feel like New York is just a little less special without them. But in Mariah Carey’s case I’ll make an exception. Mariah is planning on hightailing it from Manhattan and moving to the west coast. Why? To work on her acting career, which has apparently become a priority in her life. This would normally be the spot where I’d make fun of “Glitter,” – which was easily the worst film of this decade. But she actually got great reviews for her work in “Tennessee” this past year, so her plans might not be totally ridiculous after all.

IS Mariah Carey giving up on New York? A music industry insider said, “She and [husband] Nick Cannon are looking for houses in Santa Monica. They want to move to Los Angeles permanently. She wants to act more and she has to be on the West Coast to do that. And well, then, he’s got his . . . career. Whatever that is.” Carey just got rave reviews for her role in the indie flick, “Tennessee.” Her rep declined to comment.

I love the little jibe at Nick Cannon. Who I’ve got to admit has the most confusing IMDB resume I’ve ever seen. For a guy that hasn’t done more than two movies I could name, he’s got the longest list of projects imaginable. None of which are memorable. But it does look like he works a lot, just not at anything that would make you say, “Oh, so he does such-and-such.”

Mariah might want to take a lesson from Nick and stick with the one thing she’s proven she’s good at, instead of fanning out too much. Wait, that implies Nick excelled at something. Well, nonetheless, I hope she’s not giving up on singing. Her music should still be her priority – she’s proven time and again that she’s got tons of talent, and she’s managed to stay on the top 40 charts for over fifteen years – without constantly reinventing herself like Madonna.

i thought that mariah carey was pg?

LA seems like a better fit for her than NYC.

  5. Michele says:

I’m glad she’s moving out of my city- her ego is far too big to be contained by the island of Manhattan.

    Good riddance.

Yeah riiiighhht.. more like so the weather will be warm year round and she can wear her tops that fit a baby, her daisy dukes and stipper heels.. what a creepy lame woman !!!!!!!

  7. Too Funny says:

This is bull. First of all – Mimi is 39. How many lead roles does she think she’s going to get in an industry where Julia Freaking Roberts, at 42, had to BEG a studio to finance a film for her? BEG. Julia Roberts. Mimi-the-actress can’t fill a movie theater. On the other hand, if she thinks she can act, then at least she’s not making more of her cheesetastic music.

  8. Because I Say So says:

Gotta give Mariah props for sticking with what works for her in regards to her music. But she can’t act, and her Hello Kitty/Glitter/Rainbows & Unicorns fantasyland is a bit creepy for a mature woman. Stick to blowing eardrums out with your 8 octave voice

    what acting career?!

  10. Ana says:

This woman rubs me the wrong way. She tries to hard to be sexy and all her songs are the same thing “I so sexy! pamper me! Do me!”

  11. Mimi says:

Mariah is old and YESTERDAY’S NEWS!! Sick of her and her little “son” husband.

Selfabsorbed, ignorant woman who thinks it is still 1992. She should dig up Saddam Hussein and entertain him too!
