Star: Carey Mulligan is knocked up, thus the unflattering sack dresses

Star Magazine says Carey Mulligan is preggo. Well, a lot of you predicted this. I threw it out there as a possibility last week, although at the end of the day, I just thought Carey Mulligan loved baggy, sacky dresses. But some of you insisted that Carey was trying to hide a small baby bump, and now Star Magazine says you guys were right.

The “I Will Wait” song is sounding on cue for Mumford & Sons singer Marcus Mumford, 28, and wife Carey Mulligan, 29. A source tells Star the couple is expecting a new bundle of joy.

“Carey and Marcus are thrilled to welcome their first child,” an insider tells Star.

But they aren’t planning on sharing the news for several more weeks.

“The thing with these two is that they are extremely private people,” the insider explains. Plus, they’re waiting until her pregnancy starts to show, the source adds.

The Mumford couple had been trying for a baby, but the good news still “took them by surprise,” the source told Star.

If it’s true – and I kind of think it is – then congrats to them. I don’t see Carey as one of those annoying “let me pontificate about how motherhood is the only important thing” moms. She won’t be doing pap strolls with the bump or the baby. Although it will get interesting later this year when she’s promoting Suffragette, a film that many believe will be a potential Oscar contender. Will she shill her bump a little bit for an Oscar? We’ll see.

You know what this reminded me of? We have barely heard anything about or from Keira Knightley. She must be due any day now too (like Sophie Hunter). Keira and Carey are good friends. They’re not, like, pregnancy twinsies or anything, but I would imagine that Carey and Keira’s babies will grow up together.

This was the terrible Dior dress that launched a thousand baby-bump rumors:

I read somewhere that Marcus Mumford is kind of a jerk who doesn’t treat Carey very well. I hope someone can refute this.

    • AG-UK says:

I hope that isn’t true she seems sweet on the other hand I am no fan of their music.

    • Jegede says:

      Seriously? Any details?

I remember reading an event, were she tried to reach out for his hand, but he brushed he away.

But all of us have our off days.

      • Kaye says:

I don’t recall any details nor where I read it. I just remember thinking how disappointed I was, and that I hoped it was wrong. I’ve always really liked her.

    • mia girl says:

I think that was a Blind on CDAN. Wouldn’t put too much stock in that.

    • QQ says:

I remember that too, reading somewhere that he cheats and berates her and so on

    • M.A.F. says:

Hadn’t they been friends for the longest time before they got married?

      • mia girl says:

The story goes that they were childhood pen pals who lost touch. Later as adults Jake Gyllenhaal introduced them to each other and they discovered they were each others long lost pen pals. Love ensued, marriage and now (maybe) baby.

        I don’t really believe he’s a cheater/abusive, but who knows.

  2. PunkyMomma says:

Congrats to her and Marcus. How she walked in this five inch heels, I’ll never know. Yikes!

  3. Jegede says:

    Congratulations to them.

She looked pregnant on Graham Norton a few weeks back.

  4. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Congrats and thank goodness there’s an explanation for that dress.

  5. Nives says:

Maybe this time Star is right! LOL

    • Jegede says:

Recently, Star has been getting it right more than US Weekly it seems!

    • jen2 says:

Probably. But anyone with eyes would have come to the same conclusion, so I am not going to give them any credit for having inside information. And Star falls into the stopped clock adage–it is right twice a day!!

  6. Miss M says:

    Congrats to them!!

  7. Norman Bates' Mother says:

I also think she is pregnant. She looks bumpy in most of the outfits lately and her boobs grew a couple of sizes. But I don’t think she and Keira are close anymore. They didn’t attend each other’s weddings, they stopped talking about each other in interviews like they used to, no pictures of them together, nothing. In most of the articles, Sienna Miller, Tom Sturrige and Jake Gyllenhaal are mentioned as Carey’s best friends now. It’s kind of interesting that their ex-boyfriends – Tom Mison and Rupert Friend are bffs and used to be roommates and now – they are both married to British musicians. Close circles.

    • Tig says:

How did I miss Carey and Ichabod being a thing? He’s too cute!

That Dior dress is horrid! Where do they find these awful fabrics? It looks like that God awful print that Kim Kardashian wore to last year’s Met gala. Too rushed to double check if that was in fact Dior, but both prints are equally heinous.

      • Norman Bates' Mother says:

They weren’t very well-known back then yet. I only found out about it after they broke up. Someone has done some digging and there are screens of his Twitter page from around that time and at the beginning he tweeted how they liked to reenact scenes from the movies together and chase each other around train stations and later, when she got more famous, how he has to hide in the bathroom of their apartment because she invited people he doesn’t like over and how uncomfortable he felt around them. He never named her but the timeline reveals its her. He is very cute but also shy and kind of nerdy (he always tweets about comic books, science related articles etc) and she is rather social, despite her “boring” aura. Apparently – he broke up with her due to those differences. And she rebounded with Shia LeBouf. He was rather clean and not as crazy back then but still… Huge mistake. Shia famously dumped her and bragged in the interview how he dodged a bullet because she wanted marriage and children.

Gee, I know way to much about them. As an excuse – I can only name like two Duggar children. 😉

  8. Rory says:

I thought she looked pregnant too.

I pretty sure Keira and Carey have grown apart. They’re both still close to Sienna, but they don’t see to see much of each other anymore.

  9. Loopy says:

Awwww she always has this anxious look on her face like someone is about to scare her.

    • Jegede says:

      Carey has resting sad face

      One writer described her as
“constantly bearing the countenance of a person told she has only 3 months to live”.

Lol, and now in pics of Carey Mulligan I can’t unsee it!

  10. kittykat says:

Congrats on the baby…but this girl has HORRIBLE TASTE… make up clothes and hair. Ug

  11. Rhiley says:

I am actually looking forward to seeing Far From the Maddening Crowd. CM chooses pretty interesting roles, and if there is a little Mulligan Mumford on the way, I bet the child will be pretty darn adorable.

    • MacScore says:

Oh, there’s going to be a re-make of “Far From the Madding Crowd”? ( I live under a rock, obviously). The 1970s version with Julie Christie, Alan Bates, and Terence Stamp will be hard to top.

      • amilue says:

YES! Directed by Thomas Vinterberg and starring Mulligan, Matthias Schoenaerts (Eeee!) as Gabriel, Tom Sturridge as Troy, Michael Sheen as Boldwood, and Juno Temple as Fanny Robin. I. Can’t. Wait! But I’ll have to — it’s not opening here until 5/22.

I didn’t actually care for the 1967 version, but the 1998 miniseries is one of my favorite movies of all time. They’ll have a hard time topping that cast in my heart.

    • Andrea says:

I just saw an advanced screening of it and it was fabulous! You will not be disappointed.

    • Rhiley says:

*Madding Crowd*- sorry I hate when I make stupid typos.

  12. wow says:

She has come such a long way.

Congrats to her, if true. She’s lovely.
