Emma Stone covers the May issue (you read that correctly) of Interview Magazine. It’s weird the way Interview just releases their new issues willy-nilly, like publishing schedules are for peasants. I’m guessing they tried to hold this cover as long as possible because Emma’s new movie, Aloha, doesn’t come out until the end of the month (May 29th). Incidentally, I think Aloha looks absolutely terrible. I can see why the idea sold: let’s have Bradley Cooper, Rachel McAdams and Emma Stone in some kind of love triangle! But the previews make it look awful.
As for the cover interview, Emma was interviewed by Diane Keaton. You can read the full piece here. It’s so difficult to properly cull interesting quotes from Interview Magazine pieces because they really do read like a conversation rather than a Q&A. Here’s one section, where Diane and Emma are talking about Andrew Garfield:
KEATON: Andrew Garfield said, “Working with Emma was like diving into a thrilling, twisting river [Stone laughs] and never holding on to the sides. From the start. To the end. Spontaneous. In the moment. Present. Terrifying. Vital. The only way acting with someone should be.” My God. I mean, what did you feel when you heard such a dream-come-true observation?
STONE: He is such a poet. [laughs] But that’s the way he writes in general. So I hear it and of course my heart swells up. And I also know that he writes things like that on a daily basis.
KEATON: No way.
STONE: Yes, he does. He’s so poetic.
KEATON: What a guy. But that’s beautiful.
STONE: What a guy. He is a real Wordsworth. [both laugh]
KEATON: Good for you. Good for him.
STONE: Good for him. [laughs]
This interview could have been conducted before Andrew and Emma broke up. Or it could be a signal that they aren’t really over. Or it could be that they were already broken up and Emma just didn’t want to confirm it in an interview with Diane Keaton. God knows. I suspect we’ll figure out the status of their relationship with Andrew returns to LA or NYC after filming with Martin Scorsese.

The pic with the diving mask swimming thingy is weird
I’m having a very tough morning but this brought a smile to my face. LOVE Emma!
The interviews can be from months before so at this point it means nothing.
According to the leaked Sony emails even the studio thinks Aloha sucks but plays OK with the “less educated”. LOL, ouch!
Flipping through channels this weekend I caught a few minutes of her in the Woody Allen movie Magic in the Moonlight. I like her quite a bit, but wow, that movie looked terrible and I was surprised to find that her acting was too (to be fair Collin Firth was also bad). She also didn’t look great in the film.
Overall, not a good call on her part. I’m afraid Aloha doesn’t look much better.
Diane Keaton annoys every part of my being and this snippet of an article just confirms it.
Um. No. I’m willing to bet a lot of money he’s no Wordsworth. A lot. Emma, I want to like you, don’t say stuff like that!
Er, to me it sounds like Emma is pretty over it. Like Andrew is kind of FOS and she knows it. “Good for him” , haha.
Yeah you can read it as sarcastic too. “He’s a real poet.” /eye roll/ “Good for him.” (Pompous windbag).
The cover is lovely!
“working with Emma was like diving into a thrilling twisting river…vital, terrifying…..”
Is he talking about spiderman? Good grief, you play pretend for a living.
That’s just like how I describe Tateru! Wonderous. Spine-tingling. Thrilling. Potato. *windchimes*
Or maybe they did break up and Emma is being a grown up about it, remembering the best parts of him instead of holding grudges and being a bitter bitch?
I’ve seen previews and this movie looks like it has so many rom-com fictional tropes ever thrown in. Will wait for cable, if ever.
Interviews for magazines are usually done two to three months before.
Aloha looks like some rich actors and director tricked Sony into giving them a free Hawaiian vacation and they shot the movie as an afterthought. The Sony hack emails were more interesting than this movie.
She is so beautiful! But a film with BCoop.. really? They should stop putting him with young actresses.. I don’t know I just find him gross. He’s not cut out for romcoms !
