Did anyone really expect anything different with the Hilton clan? There’s always justice for those that can afford it

  2. Tiffany says:

My soul is breaking for the victims and families of the Charleston shooting.

The fact that he was welcomed to bible study and turned around and executed 9 people, I mean…how do you even follow up with that.

My mood is really dark right now.

    • Kitten says:

I know. It’s all so horrendous.

Man, sometimes I just want to be anything but a human. I don’t want to be made from the same stuff as this awful person.

    • MrsB says:

I’ve grown up in SC and used to live in Charleston. I’ve been in that church, it is so surreal that it’s happening in my backyard. We are all heartbroken. Charleston is an amazing city with amazing people and wonderful leadership, so it will recover and thrive. Clemente was a rising star for our state, and he will be missed.

      • Kitten says:

Sorry that you’re having to go through that.
Please know that we’re thinking of all the victims and their families, everyone in Charleston and everyone in the community where this happened.
Positive vibes and internet hugs from Boston ♥

      • MrsB says:

Thanks, Kitten. Being from Boston, I’m sure you understand. It’s always horrific and heartbreaking hearing about these (all too common! Ugh!) stories, but it being so close to home takes the feelings up to another level.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I agree, it is such a tragedy. I cannot comprehend a human being that would sit with people for an hour and then do what he did. Just awful.

    • Tristan says:

It is truly unbelievable! At times like these I am so thankful to be living in Europe, depite all our problems. It is insane that the NRA & so many American politicians continue to justify the unchecked ownership of guns & support the 2nd ammendment! How many people have to be senselessly murdered by a psycho with a gun before the US brings an end to this madness

      • AcidRock says:

I am just as thankful to be living in the US, despite all our problems as well. The issues we are facing are unique, no doubt, but that is not to say Europe is some magic land where people not struggling just as desperately or worse in their own way, or where we would all be able to escape problems if we were in your shoes. Can we not play the “my land versus your land” game? It’s a senseless tragedy, and our thoughts should be on the people who needlessly lost their lives.

  3. Mixtape says:

This Hilton kid is like every d-bag ever played by James Spader in a 1980s movie rolled into one.

  4. tifzlan says:

The news out of Charleston is sad and terrifying. White supremacy at its worst.

  5. The Eternal Side-Eye says:

What pisses me off the most about the Charleston shootings is how young the shooter is. Smh, ignorance is a powerful tool for the disenfranchised. No need to learn and adapt, just dig your heels in and blame the ‘other’ for any problem in your life.

    • GingerCrunch says:

Whenever I hear of violence committed by kids this age, my first thought is how mental illness usually emerges in young adulthood and kids can hide that sh!t like champs, as I found out from personal experience. Haven’t read up on this one yet, so I’m wildly speculating. Obvi.

    • Kitten says:

Yep. Whether mental illness comes into play is almost irrelevant. This POS, the Santa Barbara shooter, the Newtown shooter–they all pick the easiest targets for their rage.

They’re f*cking pathetic cowards, end of.

    • MrsB says:

He has several arrests for drug charges, the latest was in April I believe. And if reports I’ve heard are true, his uncle bought him a gun for his birthday after his arrest. If true, I hope they charge the uncle with accessory to murder.

      • Colette says:

His dad bought him the 45, according to his uncle.

      • Kitten says:

I heard that about his dad buying him a gun for his bday. Ugh.

But guns make everyone safer right? Or will the next argument be that people should carry guns to church? Or that churches should have armed security?

      • GingerCrunch says:

        Jesus.

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Whether mental illness has some influence for his actions or not it is currently being classified as a hate crime. The shooter said something quite racial to the group before opening fire and left one woman alive intentionally so she could go tell his message to the masses. He’s also been seen in Facebook photos wearing clothing that supports white power.

      • Kiddo says:

From Gawker, “he made an awful lot of racist jokes in high school.
“I never heard him say anything, but just he had that kind of Southern pride, I guess some would say. Strong conservative beliefs,” he said. “He made a lot of racist jokes, but you don’t really take them seriously like that. You don’t really think of it like that.”

The 21-year-old suspected gunman told his trailer park friends last week that he wanted to kill people at a local college — but no one took him seriously because of his “deadpan sense of humor,” neighbor Christon Scriven told the Daily News.
“He flat out told us he was going to do this stuff,” said Scriven, who lives in the same Lexington, S.C., trailer park as Roof.
Last Wednesday — exactly one week before the Charleston church massacre — Roof told his friends and neighbors “he was looking to kill a bunch of people on Wednesday” at the College of Charleston, Christon said.

      • Jag says:

I was born and raised Southern, as is my family, and we don’t consider “Southern pride” to be something that embraces racism. Southern pride, to me, is treating people with respect, saying “sir” and “ma’am,” treating senior citizens kindly, and helping one’s family.

That sub-human shouldn’t be allowed to be called Southern.

As for no one alerting the authorities when they were told that he wanted to kill a “bunch of people,” I really wish some people would be more proactive. Even if it were just a joke, having the police come talk to the guy might’ve made him a bit more aware that “jokes” like that have no place to be told. But in his case, it might’ve saved lives.

The people of Charleston are in my prayers.

      • Kiddo says:

Agreed Jag. Some of my favorite commenters here are from the south. I think these friends were having a lot of guilt about not doing anything, or seeing flags, and seeking other reasons why they didn’t recognize his past behavior as racist. I wish they had done something, but they also aren’t directly at fault. I think one guy took away the killers’ gun out of fear he might do something, but ultimately gave it back because he feared police intervention in that he was already part of the system.

The police were also already aware of this guy, looking nefarious at all the local mall.

      • Kiddo says:

One more thing: There is a segment of southern culture, particularly in politics, though, that do stand for old pre-civil war philosophy in regard to race, gender, etc. That rhetoric is dangerous for society as a whole, but it doesn’t represent all of the south, even though it has enormous push/power.

  6. The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Not surprised by Conrad, our justice system rewards the wealthy and punishes the most poor.

    • doofus says:

oh, rest assured if he were poor and/or had brown skin, he’d be in jail for making terroristic threats and also be on the no-fly list.

hell, he’d probably be at Gitmo by now.

  7. Rhiley says:

I can believe the Blind Item is Blake Lively but I don’t think she and Ryan are going to split anytime soon. I think they are a match made in WASPY heaven.

  8. blue marie says:

My thoughts and prayers go out to anyone affected by what happened today. I know the PC thing to say is he’s been caught and let the courts deal with him, but I’m finding it hard to accept that this piece of trash is allowed to breathe the same air as everyone else. I will never understand how a person can decide that their life is worth more than someone else’s..

  9. Angee says:

Little spoiled bastard will get his — sooner or later.

  10. funcakes says:

He’s going to od one day. And the sad part of it all is that his parents will share no part of the blame.
They’ll blame everyone else and will keep their social engagements like nothing happened all they while sucking up the potty of their social set who saw this coming long ago.

  11. Kitten says:

The SC shooter was pictured wearing flags of Apartheid-era S. Africa and Rhodesia.

This might sound weird but whenever some racist reveals himself like this, I can’t help but think about Yahoo, youtube, Fox, and other websites where people are free to make obnoxiously racist comments and question if this guy was one of those people.

Like, the hate in the comments section on those sites (which I don’t frequent after learning the heard way) always makes me wonder: WHO are these people and where do they live? How old are they, and how does this happen? How does someone become so filled with hatred and rage?

I don’t know..it’s just so far from my experience. I don’t know one single person that hates like these people do.

    • Size Does Matter says:

And his dad bought him a very powerful handgun for his birthday. Perfect gift idea for the troubled, racist, drug-abusing criminal in your life! Just disgusting.

    • Katy says:

It has to be a complete disconnection to human compassion. Maybe in the early childhood years he was not loved or nurtured? I’m not a psychologist, but how can a person this young and even younger have no regard what-so-ever for human life or any living thing? And the parents, just like the woman in Newtown, were aware of their son’s mental issues and STILL bought him a gun. I read this guy was a very reclusive boy and showed signs of mental illness, yet his Dad thought it was a good idea to buy him a gun for his birthday! These parents should somehow be held accountable.

      • Kitten says:

Just a small correction about Adam Lanza: the mother had a gun. It was her gun, she didn’t buy her son one.

        RE: The parents’ failure.
You know, I used to believe that. As someone who grew up in what many would describe as an idyllic situation-middle-class suburb, involved parents, access to great schools and overall excellent quality of life, I used to have a ton of sympathy for anyone who never had what I had. I used to put a lot of the onus on parents when it came to their kids’ behavior.

But after reading an-depth New Yorker article about the Newtown shooter and how much his parents cared about him and how much they REALLY tried to help him, I was left with no real answer about why he turned out the way he did. I have no idea what the causation was.
Yes, he had mental problems, but a lot of people have mental problems and they don’t shoot up elementary schools.

I mean, this kid was LOVED. His parents tried everything, completely exhausting themselves, trying to save him and it still wasn’t enough.
And FTR, his father is still a huge mess, he still blames himself, and has nightmares and depression. I can’t help but feel sorry for the guy.

So I’m at the point where I can uncomfortably accept that I will never understand why/how people end up like this. It won’t stop me from asking questions or wondering, but I really don’t think we’ll ever get a clear answer as to WHY.

    • Kiddo says:

Whoa, was busy and missed this. Then saw news, and it’s unbelievable what people are tweeting.

  12. Me too says:

To be fair, 720 hours is a LOT of community service. At least he is contributing to society rather than costing tax payer’s money through imprisonment. Win win in my book.

    • Tiffany :) says:

After seeing Lindsay Lohan’s and Chris Brown’s cases, I don’t really believe in community service anymore. It seems you can get people to fudge the numbers for you quite easily if you pay the right price.

        This, This…and SO MUCH THIS!
Add Justin “Gerber Baby” Beiber and Brandi, and Caitlyn Jenner, and Mell Gibson, and David Cassidy, and dude from Buffy, and Marky Mark trying to get a pardon, and Flavor Flav ( I just love him for some reason!)and OJ, and Robert Blake, Josh and Ma and Pa Duggar, and ummm..TYGA! And SO many more! My brain hurts just thinking about how any one of us “regular people” would be doing time in these cases, double so if you have brown skin. And we may NEVER get out from under all the fimes and penalties(sp?)….. I don’t know how the USA expects us to even respect our country anymore with all the horrible things so called “people of authority” and “the rich and privileged” get away with. Makes me wanna scream…..

      • Tiffany :) says:

Exactly Vampy. Like the case of Kalief Browder, who was a 16 black teen when he was arrested supposedly stealing a back pack. His family couldn’t make the $10,000 bail, so they kept him in jail for 3 YEARS! Rikers Island, no less!

After 3 years of being imprisoned without a trial, the charges were dismissed and he was released. He killed himself this year. After his release, he gave an interview with the New Yorker. From NPR:
“People tell me because I have this case against the city I’m all right,” he told the magazine. “But I’m not all right. I’m messed up. I know that I might see some money from this case, but that’s not going to help me mentally. I’m mentally scarred right now. That’s how I feel. Because there are certain things that changed about me and they might not go back.”

    • lila fowler says:

90 days. I mean, he’ll probably just get his parents to pay someone to say that he did something, while he sits in an office and plays video games.

  13. Vampi says:

Hilton reminds me/looks like that annoying kid who’s on Modern Family. Phil and Claire’s son….whatshisface. He has that “I just want to punch you when I see you and even more so when you talk.” kinda face and voice.
    Yes..I’m bad, I’m bad, I know it.
But yeah..The Hilton’s and their rich privilege get out of jail free cards can bite me. There’s a reason the word “vile” is in privilege.

    • Tiffany :) says:

The kid on Modern Family is actually a genius. He became a member of Mensa at age 13.

      • Vampi says:

Wow! That’s awesome. He can now have security knowing if acting dries up ( like it does for so many child actors) he will have an excellent education to fall back on.
        Here hat Kylie Jenner? Education.

    • Pinetree13 says:

Wow you want to ‘punch out’ an adorable child? Wtf is wrong with you!

  14. Dunne says:

Oooph- that new CDAN site is a mess, right? Is it only me? I tried accessing it on mobile the other day and it was beyond frustrating…

    • Vampi says:

Yeah…something is different. It looks a mess on mine. Just titles, no pics, and it’s all squished together.
It was bad enough when D-Listed switched from whatever mobile they used to use into what it is now, because I cannot see ANY D Listed comments on my phone anymore, even if I click on “view full site” I was SO bummed! It was my only other gossip site. (and stupid TMZ darn it)
If I am ever not able to see Celebitchy’s comments Ima just give up gossip sites altogether because this site AND the commenters here are my favorite and give me extra life! 🙂
