Kate Winslet is ‘very proud’ that her Botox-free forehead moves: lies?

wenn22601743

Here are some photos of Kate Winslet at the Wednesday night NYC premiere of A Little Chaos, the film reuniting her with her Sense & Sensibility costar and friend, Alan Rickman. It’s sort of creepy to think about the fact that Kate was only 19 years old when she was paired on-screen with Rickman, but that never stopped me from enjoying that version of S&S (mostly because Emma Thompson is everything). As you can see, Winslet rocked a nice LBD and a pair of Louboutins at the premiere.

As you can also see, Kate looks… good. Yes, I’ll say that. She’s 39 years old and she’s a beautiful woman. But the question I’ve been asking about Kate for years remains: is Kate tweaked? She doesn’t look like a Botox-monster in these photos and she hasn’t really looked Botoxy in years. And yet… I still maintain that several years ago, she had some eye work done and it really changed her face, and you can still sort of see it. Still, Winslet maintains that she would never, ever mess with her face.

The 39-year-old proved Wednesday at the N.Y.C. premiere of her film A Little Chaos that Botox isn’t the secret to her flawless skin.

“Watch my forehead,” she said to a reporter who asked about how she stays looking so youthful. She leaned in and pointed right between her eyebrows while scrunching her face. “See that movement? I’m very proud of that movement.”

The mom of three told PEOPLE in an interview earlier this year that her signature look isn’t going anywhere.

“I have the kind of wrinkles that are here to stay now,” she said. “You know, not just the ones where you wake up in the morning and you go, ‘Oh, that will go away in two hours’ time.’ No, they’re there. That’s the way that it is.”

[From People]

Sure. At this point, I’m sort of tired of arguing about it. Either you see Kate’s wonky eye work or you don’t. She probably doesn’t Botox, and I’m not really seeing fillers either. But she had some kind of surgical maintenance a few years back.

Winslet also chatted with Showbiz 411 about her third husband, Ned RockNRoll, saying: “He makes it all work. Whenever I’m too tired to do something, or I just throw up my hands and say, There’s no way we can get from here to San Francisco in three days, he calms me down and says Yes we can and does it. It’s quite remarkable.” Ned seems pretty happy to be the house-husband. Let’s hope third time’s a charm for Winslet.

I didn’t see the eye work then, and I don’t see it now.

I tend to believe Kate when she says she doesn’t Botox. If you look at her close ups, she has lines around her mouth, nose, in between her brows, and on her forehead.

    • Mary-Alice says:

This. And I don’t understand how everything is about Botox. Kate, like many other women, me included, does lasers. Lasers not only erase the current layer, therefore diminishing the wrinkles but they also provoke the collagen reproduction. The result is plump, fuller face, youthful look, and naturally – wrinkles temporarily disappear or are severely reduced thanks to the renewed layer underneath them. That’s all. No need of Botox at this age. As about eyes, with some women eyes change with aging. I know mine did and they look smaller, lower, deeper, and changed my look.

      • Elisa the I. says:

what kind of laser are you using? How much does one treatment cost? How many do you need? I’m interested. 🙂

      • mytbean says:

Mary- Alice – 1. How old are you? 2. How long do the affects of a laser treatment session last? Like, how often do you have to refresh? 3. And how much do you pay for such things? I ask because I’m starting to ponder such things, mainly for melasma caused from whonky hormones and the gradually deepening furrow of doom between my brows.

      • Smartinez says:

I do lasers too. I’m about to be 44. The lasers I do are photo facials and they are magic! But they are pricey. Usually they cost in the $300-$400 range but I found a great person in the Houston area who does them for $175. You are supposed to do 3-4 a month apart and then after that once or twice a year to maintain. Highly, highly recommend! I do Botox too, but not a ton of it. Just the two lines between the eyebrows.

    • mytbean says:

Dammit Woman! Stop holding out and tell us your secrets!

    • perplexed says:

She doesn’t really look shiny either, which I associate with Botox (though I could be wrong about how it looks).

    • goofpuff says:

I’m 39 and I have less wrinkles than her so I can see no work done if she genetically gifted that way. Also makeup really does wonders for the eyes so it might look like work but really isn’t. I’ve done it myself and I have had zero work done. so it’s possible.

  2. minx says:

I don’t know about eye work, but I think she’s had some slight shaping on her nose in the past few years.

    • Cel says:

      +1

If you look at photos from her first wedding/marriage it is obvious she has had work done to her nose.

    • Lucy2 says:

I agree she possibly had something done on her nose (like many in Hollywood) but beyond that, I’ve never seen it. I think any other changes have been weight loss, aging, and makeup. I haven’t seen her in a movie in a while, but the last one I did you could see faint wrinkles and no sign of Botox.
She looks great and seems very happy with her life.

    • kcarp says:

She has had Botox and whatever else Hollywood people do.

She is a smoker there is no way her face is holding up without extra help

      • littlemissnaughty says:

Eh, could be genetics. My mom smoked for decades, is now in her 60s and uses soap, water, and Nivea on her face. Her face is holding up pretty effin’ great, whereas my skin (never smoked) has always needed a ton of care and effort to look great.

Having said that, I believe she uses every non-invasive procedure available to look this good. A moving forehead means nothing. If injected by someone who knows what they’re doing, Botox doesn’t necessarily render your face paralyzed in places.

      • kcarp says:

        @littlemiss

you are right could be gentics. I don’t shade anyone who uses anything to make themselves look good. I am thinking of botoxing now at 37.

Your mom is very lucky! Smoking just doesn’t do anything to some folks.

      • Size Does Matter says:

@kcarp – I’m 37, too. Major horizontal forehead lines that I detest. It’s because I raise my eyebrows all the time without even realizing it. Maybe somebody told Kate years ago not to do that, which salvaged her forehead. I’ve considered getting bangs to hide them but I’m less afraid of Botox than bangs trauma. I’m totally getting Botox when I am finished being pregnant and nursing. No shame.

  3. TracySmiles says:

I think she looks like Uma Thurman these days.

  4. Astrid says:

Of course she’s had work done. Women aren’t wrinkle free at 40 no matter how genetically blessed we are. I don’t have a problem with people having work done, I just want them to own it.

    • lisa2 says:

I’m about at 40+ and I don’t have any wrinkles.. NONE on my face. But that is genetics..and for most black people or other people of color you age differently. It is genetics. My mother is in her 70s and not many wrinkles at all.

      but we avoid that sun.

      • Greek chic says:

My mom is 54 and she was only a few small wrinkles in her eyes that are not visible until she smiles. I hope that I would look that good in my 50s too.
        Genetics play a huge part.

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@Astrid, who wrote: “Of course she’s had work done. Women aren’t wrinkle free at 40 no matter how genetically blessed we are. I don’t have a problem with people having work done, I just want them to own it.”

Please don’t make such broad statements about ‘all women’ when certainly ‘some women’ of different races genetically have different skin textures. There are certainly exceptions in all races as genetics and personal habits (smoking, tanning, etc.) often affect how we look as we age. Moreover, Black women genetically have thicker skin than some women in lighter skinned races because our race lived in Africa and needed the thicker skin and darker pigment as extra protection from the sun. The majority of us don’t wrinkle at 40 (some not even at 50 or 55).

Don’t believe me? Ask any black woman you know (or for that matter, any other woman of non-European ancestry) when her mother, aunt, or even grandmother started to show wrinkles. As a black woman, I can only speak for women in my own race. Do ‘some’ black women wrinkle early? Sure, some of us have strong European ancestry, but please don’t arbitrarily lump ‘all’ women in the ‘women aren’t wrinkle free at 40’ basket.

    • kai says:

She’s not wrinkle free and she just said she isn’t. (I agree, though, that she probably has *some* work done. I think it’s just a question of definition.)

    • Sugar says:

I didn’t have any wrinkles at all when I was 40. Some people just don’t wrinkle that much.

    • L says:

Yup, I don’t agree. I’m turning 43 next month, and I don’t have wrinkles. I don’t do any kind of Botox or chemical peels or anything. I’ve just always worn hats in the sun and taken care of my skin!

    • inthekitchen says:

I’m turning 45 in a few weeks and have no wrinkles or forehead lines or anything like that. I’ve never done any botox, lasers, or chemical peels and have a very basic skin care regimen (Dr. Bronners tea tree soap on my face and a light moisturizer).

It’s definitely partly/mostly genetic though because my mom and all her sisters look young for their age. Plus I am not a sun-worshipper and don’t smoke…those things help too.

      • Boston Green Eyes says:

I’m with you guys. I’m 52 and don’t have any wrinkles. It’s part genetics and part taking care of myself with sunscreen, good face products (I use Origins), good food and supplements and a lot of exercise.

Oh, and I’m not married nor have children, so there’s that…

      • Jaded says:

Me too – I’m 62 and barely have any wrinkles. People can’t believe it. I don’t smoke, don’t tan, eat well and use good face products. I eat lots of fish, fruit and veg and take a variety of supplements. And no Jennifer Aniston, I don’t drink gallons of Smart Water.

    • oneshot says:

“Women aren’t wrinkle free at 40 no matter how genetically blessed we are.”

Please tell that to my mother, who is 51 and has yet to develop any wrinkles, forehead lines or even the more-prominent smile lines. And she sure as hell doesn’t have access to botox, lasers or high end skincare.

  5. kai says:

It’s f-cked up that letting nature take its course is considered brave or something extraordinary to be proud of. But I say this as a 29-years old, ask me again in 20 years.

    • kibbles says:

I don’t think anyone in her 30s needs to get Botox. That’s insane to examine whether a 39-year-old is tweaked and pulled. She is still young, on the cusp of middle age, but not quite there yet. This is why Hollywood and society in general value women under 30 as leading actresses, models, and still young enough to find a husband. God forbid a woman has a few lines on her face.

    • sills says:

In Hollywood it is–it’s a different planet.

  6. Belle Epoch says:

    Darn you, CB! I had to research before & after pictures. She looks COMPLETELY different. Scroll down on this page;

    http://lovelysurgery.com/kate-winslet-plastic-surgery-before-and-after-photos/

    • yael says:

i don’t see it. it just looks like she’s lost weight and/or the fullness in her face due to aging. the eyeshape looks the same to me, as does her nose.

those photos also aren’t good comparison images. in one she’s smiling really wide, and in the other her lips aren’t parted. smiling super wide is bound to puff your cheeks up and make your eyes squint slightly.

    • Elisa the I. says:

I don’t see it either. As yael said – she clearly lost weight and also changed her hair color & style. To me her nose looks even bigger in the “after” pic.

    • littlemissnaughty says:

Wait, those “breast implants” pics … isn’t the before one actually an older pic? I don’t see anything in the second set either. Except a difference of, what, 15 years?

  7. Greek chic says:

    Love her shoes.
She looks good but older than 39 to me. I would guess that she’s 45.
She always looked older than her age though. In titanic DiCaprio looked like her younger brother and they were the same age.

    • kai says:

To me, she’s always come across as one of the few actresses who actually enjoys live from time to time, who eats and drinks with friends outdoors and stays up too late sometimes etc. That’s what I see when I see her lines and wrinkles. I find this very attractive. (Could do without the smoking and the smugness, though.)

      • Greek Chic says:

kai i didn’t meant hat she looks older because of her wrinkles. She’s a beautiful woman and she looks good. She always looked mature to me,even in her early 20s.
You can look older than your age and still have great skin.

      • kai says:

Oh, I know what you meant. I was just posting my thoughts randomly tbh 🙂

and I agree with you, too. I feel like middle age suits her face better than youth – it’s the other way around with Leo, he has a “young” face and somehow doesn’t look right now (to me, anyway). She still looks older than him and they’re still suuuuch a strange pairing. “Titanic” didn’t age well either.

      • oneshot says:

she may look older than Leo but her looks aged MUCH better than his. After the initial bloom of youth faded off him, he’s just another sorta dough-faced middle-aged playboy, not the beautiful ethereal angel he used to be.

While her features are stronger and less ‘youthful’, they’re also better defined and hold up very well against the aging process for the most part. Other than her eyebrows, I guess – she would look softer and prettier with less of an arch to them, counterintuitive as that sounds.

    • twodollars says:

Yeah, I was surprised to see that she is only 39. I think she looks older than Sandra Bullock and other older actresses. It’s the smoking I’d guess. It really ages you.

  8. Jayna says:

I have no forehead lines and no furrowed line between my eyes that people get. I’ve always had a very smooth forehead. Who says hitting 40 you have to have heavy lines or a lined forehead and that everyone uses botox if they have no forehead lines?

    • lisa2 says:

ITAWY.. every time a woman looks a tiny bit different people start screaming Botox or Surgery. Sometimes it is the makeup or the way they are wearing their hair.. or the arch of their eyebrows. The gain a few pounds or lose a few pounds. The angle of the picture or lighting plays a part.

I’m always reminded of those makeover shows. Take a woman or man and change the hair or cloths and the person looks completely different. Yes women in Hollywood are using Botox/fillers and having plastic surgery.

but here is the thing.. NOT EVERYONE IS..

  9. bette says:

Something is off mot sure what…but I hate how blonde her hair is..it just washes her out..she looks much better with light brown and or reddish hair

  10. tx_ava says:

wow!!!! Botox free!! how extraordinary!!! someone give this woman a medal for this amazing movable forehead!

  11. Ruth Dunbar says:

God, what a goofy, superficial industry. People are proud of their kids, their accomplishments. I’m proud of being a homeowner and having a PhD — who gives a crap about her forehead?

  12. bns says:

    She’s obnoxious.

  13. arbelia says:

I just don’t see it . She has more wrinkles than most 40 y old women i know . And they are deep, visible wrinkles. As for her eyes, i just think it’s a combination of make-up, ageing and the shape of her eyebrows Like i remembr pics of her from the movie Hamlet, when she was 20, where her eyebrow-the same we found suscpicicious now!- was higher than the other. I just think that she happened to pluck it that way each time, and it gave her the ‘wonky eye” look or whatever you call it.

  14. LAK says:

This woman’s ‘i’m normal’ schtick is exhausting.

  15. mystified says:

What I used to love about Kate was her naturally soft look. Now she looks hard. Not certain it’s surgery, but wouldn’t be surprised.

  16. kri says:

It’s weird with her. If she has had work, I think it might have been a mid-face lift. If done right, it can be subtle, and it lasts much longer than fillers/tox. I also noticed that she goes up and down in weight a bit, and that she has never been crazy thin. That may have soomething to do with it, too. After a ceratin age, some people look amazing with just a few pounds on.

  17. InvaderTak says:

What is with her and constantly talking about this? Geez move on. If they ask about it don’t respond. She looks really shallow and vapid with this crap. That interview is so stupid and vain it’s making me mad.

  18. Pabena6 says:

Regarding Sense and Sensibility, yes, but remember, Marianne WAS a teenager and Col Brandon in his mid-thirties. The gap between Winslet and Rickman is slightly larger IRL, but very close to the original source material. That kind of age difference was not at all uncommon at that time, and it would have been much less appropriate to have two actors who were closer in age.

    • Jessica says:

And Kate is one of those actresses who always looked and seemed older than her age when she was younger, so their on-screen pairing didn’t look that strange. To me anyway.

    • oneshot says:

Exactly, it’s the same with Emma, who was supposed to be 21 years old to Knightley’s 38. The huge age gap is right there in the source material, marriageable age was marriageable age back then, age gap be damned.

  19. Ennie says:

She might be an OK person, but to me she has a mean, hard look, a too smug face. I don’t like her just for her vibe. When she was younger she did not come off as bad, it must be botox or something, or maybe it is truly her personality.

    • oneshot says:

It’s her eyebrows, that too-high arch is something I call the ‘bitch brow’ because it might be intended to frame the face but without exception, it makes every single person who gets that eyebrow shape look mean and bitchy.

Sometimes a softer brow arch is a good thing if your brows don’t naturally tweak that high.

  20. Granger says:

Kate Winslet has been in the business since she was a young teen. So she’s been exposed to the best skin care products and professionals for YEARS. I believe she doesn’t use Botox.

  21. Lisa says:

Ok, I get that she is asked this question a lot because she’s Hollywood Old, but does she ever talk about something else? It’s either her bum or her face. I think I’d start to turn it around on them and ask what the hell that has to do with my movie if I were in her position.

  22. Peggy says:

Kate lied about having a C-Section and only admitted it a few years ago about her first pregnancy, so if Kate lips are moving she is lying, when there is no reason to.

  23. caty1313 says:

I am in my early 50’s and believe me I cannot afford anything but to keep my household running, I use to smoke and tan…however thanks to genetics and realizing in my 30’s the damage I was doing, I quit. I am quite proud to say that there is nary a wrinkle on my face, let alone my forehead, just some very faint lines. Don’t get me wrong, one can tell I am a mature woman, albeit those who do not know me think I am at least 10 or more years younger. My whole point is this….there are women out there who are naturally still younger looking than their chronological age without any “help” at all.

  24. Mrs.Krabapple says:

I used to like her. But she’s become like Tom Cruise to me, where the more I hear her talk, the more I can’t stand to look at her on the screen anymore.

    From 2007:
    http://www.justjared.com/photo-gallery/53751/kate-winslet-oscars-2007-02/

From 2010 (she must have used Madonna’s plastic surgeon) :
    http://www.theguardian.com/film/2010/sep/24/kate-winslet-film-power-100

So, yes, it’s obvious she’s had plastic surgery. This woman lied about having a “beautiful, natural” childbirth, and then years later admitted she lied (she had a c-section) because she wanted to appear a certain way in the eyes of the public. If she could lie about THAT (her child’s birth), then there is nothing she wouldn’t lie about, including plastic surgery.

Hollywood is tough on women as they age. That’s a reality. And I don’t blame any actress for doing what she has to do to keep getting work in Hollywood. But just don’t lie about about. First, it’s incredibly arrogant, as if she’s saying that OTHER women might need surgery, but SHE is just soooooo genetically superior that her looks miraculously stayed young naturally. And second, it’s assuming the public are all idiots, because we can’t see what’s right in front of our eyes.

  25. Bea says:

She is 39??!?! She looks like a well kept mid-40’s to me, this is shocking news.

  26. Elfie says:

I’ve seen her in movies where her face is surprisingly full of wrinkles, I mean that in a good way, it’s nice to see an actress with a moving human face for a change. I’m sure she’s a few years older than 39 though. I thought she was older than Dicaprio when they filmed Titanic. I remember their ages printed in the press at the time and he was definitely younger.

I can’t tell by the photos whether she’s had any work done. I hope not, I like her expressive, wrinkly face on screen. It’s beautiful.

    • arbelia says:

Nope, i remember very well that back then, she’s always been presented as being 1 year younger. It was often reported that she celebrated her 21 st birthday on the set , while he got 22.But the actors themselves always said they were the same age, probably because there is only 11 months between them.

    • oneshot says:

nope, my obsessive following of Titanic news back in the day (ah, tweenage love) can certify that he was definitely always presented as a 1974 baby, while Kate, James Cameron etc. in interviews said she was 21 years old while shooting Titanic.

Also she started working at 12 (advertisements and stuff), it’d be next to impossible for her to lie about her age considering her parents would have had to sign off on things.

  27. Miran says:

Everyone always says they don’t see fillers..,.but that is the point. Done correctly you don’t and SHOULDNT see fillers.
