Jon Snow Truthers are still spinning some very amazing & nerdy conspiracies

GAME OF THRONES SPOILERS

Are you still upset that Jon Snow is deader than dead, deady dead dead dead? I am, a little bit, but only because the writers and Kit Harington are being SO obtuse with their denials and insistence on saying that OF COURSE Jon Snow is dead and never, ever coming back (or not coming back “next season”). But there’s already a veritable cornucopia of conspiracies forming on the interwebs about Jon and how He Knows Nothing, Especially About Being Dead. So, let’s get to it.

Kit Harington won’t be at Comic-Con this year. HBO hosts a Game of Thrones panel discussion every year at San Diego Comic-Con, and every year, they invite the recently killed-off actors to come out. Last year, Pedro Pascal came out and talked about how much he loved playing Prince Oberyn. This year, Kit – arguably the biggest death shocker in several seasons – will not be at Comic-Con. WHAT DOES IT MEAN?! Also missing from this year’s GoT panel: George RR Martin, DB Weiss and David Benioff.

Conspiracy: George RR Martin’s next book won’t have any Jon Snow. That’s the theory, that The Winds of Winter, Martin’s next book, won’t have much of anything to do with Jon and then Martin will focus on Jon’s story in the seventh book, A Dream of Spring. This is sort of based on Martin’s present-tense wording in a recent interview, where he referenced what “Jon Snow’s arc is gonna be.” As in, there’s still an arc to go on? Of course, in a recent interview, Martin said that he was still trying to figure out how a major female character was going to die. Huh.

Season 6 may include info about Jon Snow’s parents. You know, R+L=J. The reasoning for this is sort of… intense. The GoT site Watchers On the Wall got their hands on some casting info for Season 6, and producers MIGHT be casting for Arthur Dayne. Which means Season 6 might involve a flashback to the Tower of Joy, which might mean we finally learn about what really happened with Lyanna Stark. Maybe. Might. And why go through all that if Jon Snow is never coming back?

The Khaleesi doesn’t think Jon Snow is dead. Emilia Clarke chatted with MTV and of course they asked her some GoT questions (even though she was promoting that Terminator movie). Emilia admits that Dan Weiss and David Benioff don’t tell her anything because “they know that I can’t lie very well.” Interesting. She says that they haven’t told her about Jon Snow’s REAL fate so “I can, with all honesty, say I have no idea what’s happening.” Emilia says that if she was laying down money on it, she’d say Jon Snow has a “50/50” shot at being not-dead.

Is this the nerdiest thing I’ve ever written? Probably. I’d like to think that there are Jon Snow Birthers (fans of R+L=J) AND Jon Snow Truthers (fans that say Jon Snow will be resurrected).

    HODOR!

I love these nerdy posts. With some of the ladies at work we’ve been discussing different theories for days now. Keep em coming.
Oh, and YOU KNOW NOTHING JON SNOW

    • Holly says:

Here is my theory n thoughts. Probably way off base. When magic was coming back in the land the dire wolf pups were born. The comet was in the sky. There was a dead stag and dire wolf. Each Stark sibling got a pup. As long as the wolf is alive, I believe the owner is a part of it. Bran warts into his. Rickon n shaggy dog went to the crypts because he knew his father died. Arya’s wolf is out there somewhere adrift just like arya trying to survive and is wild. Bran has his. Rickon has his. Robs perished when he did. Sansa’s was killed. Ghost is still alive and Jon can warg. Just hasn’t developed the skill. Sansa, in my opinion, will be the female who dies. She has no wolf. They are connected. The stag in season one died. There are no Baratheons left besides Gendry who is an Olympic rower by now. As long as the wolf lives so does its keeper. Just my thought. Probably way out there. 🙂

  4. Abbott says:

I don’t know how they’d be able to bench Snow for a whole season considering his story and The Wall is where the real sh*t is happening.

    • Olenna says:

True. He may be deader than dead, but (IMO) he ain’t dead forever. And, Winter is still coming. Besides, who one else has the leadership skills to take command of the Wall? Dany in her Cosplay outfits? Is Stannis really dead and if not, who would follow him after the debacle at Winterfell?

      • Abbott says:

Dany’s only purpose is to continue to be a screw up so Jon can fix it.

        I think Stannis is dead.

Where do the Greyjoys fit in all of this?

      • tigerlily says:

I am newish to the Game of Thrones but hearing lots about Jon and Stannis not really being dead. Especially Stannis, many people are pointing out that his death was not shown explicitly and that the show has never shied away from the gore. So who knows………

      • Olenna says:

Ah, the Greyjoys. One of Theon’s uncles (name escapes me) could pop up in the next season as another contender to the throne or Ward of the North. The book makes him sound like a psychopath but also a pirate extraordinaire. He could feel the void that Stannis left as pretender-on-a-mission.

      • Olenna says:

Oops, I meant “He could fill the void”.

    • Cran says:

I have read the books and I can see Jon Snow still around for book seven. The Khaleesi has yet to return and Arya’s story is just beginning not to mention Bran. What has happened with the youngest Stark Ricken? I can see almost an entire season/ book six being away from the wall. There is still a lot of story to bring together. Like Jon Snows entire back story and all about the Khaleesi’s family and what really happened. Then back to the wall where Jon Snow has been brought back. The real question is brought back as what and by whom?

    • Algernon says:

They benched Bran for a whole season and I think he and his visions are going to be really important to fighting the White Walkers, so they can bench Jon for a while, too. Besides, all I want to see at the wall next year is many, many scenes of dumb night watchers being eaten by White Walkers. I want Theon-torture amounts of scenes of that. I want to see the moment they all realize they done goofed in killing Jon Snow, and then I want to see the Night’s King eat Olly’s head. That can be the next season’s wall storyline.

I am a Jon Snow birther *and* truther, and I think the next season will tell the story of the Tower of Joy, then in the last couple episodes, Jon Snow will make his comeback in some form or another. Maybe one with a lot of fire. Cough cough.

      • Bridget says:

Bran is also a child actor who’s completely outgrown his role. That was a factor.

      • Liv says:

But he has to show up again. I assume they’ll make the next season more about him and other characters.

      • Bridget says:

There’s not much left to do with Bran. He’s in the tree. That’s kind of the end of his journey, so what we’ll see of him is his role as a greenseer.

  5. Falula says:

(We) know nothing (about) Jon Snow.

  6. Mom2two says:

I will say this again, D&D skipped SDCC in 2012 and while some actors whose characters have died come to SDCC for a victory lap ( Jason Momoa, Richard Madden, Michelle Fairley and Rose Leslie) there are many who haven’t like Sean Bean, Charles Dance, Jack Gleeson and none of the actors killed off this year are on the SDCC panel.
This does not change my mind that Jon will be back somehow either during some point in season 6 or early season 7.

  7. loud noises says:

hahaha i love in a world where we can unironically say “50/50 not dead”. i don’t know why that amuses me.

    anyway, totes not dead!!

  8. genevieve says:

That shot of Jon Snow lying on his back reminds me of the image of Gandalf right before he becomes Gandalf the White.

  9. whatwhatnot says:

My theory is that “Jon Snow” wasn’t even his birth name. If we know how Targaryen’s roll with naming their offspring, Jon’s born name was probably Rhaegis or something and Ned would have had to change his name to some serious generic bit hide all of that from Robert – I’ll – kill – everything – Targaryen. So them saying Jon Snow is dead is accurate as he will rise as his true born, given name self.

  10. Shijel says:

Should Jon Snow be rezzed (and there’s no doubt it’ll happen), his watch has ended. So he’s free to go and make shit get real.

  11. jlee says:

I think next season will be very Dany heavy. She’s gathering her forces by land (Unsullied),cavalry (Dothraki), air (dragons), & sea (?). Also, the remaining Starks need to gather at some point. Where is Bran? Where is Rickon? Please make Rickon a badass, feral warrior, death machine who settles all the Starks affairs! My $$ is on Cersei for the female lead that’s time is up.

    • Abbott says:

I so hope it won’t be a Dany-heavy season. Her storyline is so boring and she’s so incompetent. Do you think the Dothraki will side with her? Wasn’t the crew that found her led by the guy that defected after Drogo died?

      • Bridget says:

Yes that was her former khal.

      • Cran says:

House Targaryrn may yet be restored. Dany’s journey won’t truly start until she leaves Khaleesi behind and reveals her true identity. There are three dragons and so far two true Targaryens right? With Jon Snow being the possible third. Melisandre could bring him back. He could end up becoming one of those walker guys. Isn’t one of them a former brother from the wall who disappeared? There is a lot to find out about that group as well.

      • Bridget says:

You mean the second that wasn’t even included in the show, where Connington’s part of the story was rolled into Jorah? Doesn’t bode well for that actually being Aegon.

      • phlyfiremama says:

Drogon will come in at the last minute, rescue Dany from certain death and degradation, and awe them all into becoming Dany’s Khalasar. Next season should be hoppin’!!!

  12. Nona says:

Aw, geez, I seriously forgot there was a book seven. Which Martin will finish by, oh, say, 2050?
    Argh.

  13. Bridget says:

He could be dead, he could live, but I’m just going to wait for the next book/season, because I don’t think we’re going to get anything concrete from parsing every morsel.

Dayne and the Tower of Joy is supposed to be a big reveal. What happened with Lyanna, what happened that Ned was the victor in the battle against the greatest sword of his time, and of course where the hell is Howland Reed? He faced 3 Kingsguard with just he and Ned, and yet in the time of greatest need only sends his children? And then of course there was the minor subplot between Ned and Ashara Dayne.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the story doesn’t work if Jon just dies. There’s an overarching theme of prophesy and destiny, and if they do kill Jon it means that someone got pissy. It would be like Dany deciding to just stay in Mereen.

    • Size Does Matter says:

There are some tinfoil theories out there that Dayne is still alive – so if he came back it could be more than as a flashback.

I don’t see how they (HBO, GRRM, anybody) can leave the Wall completely in suspended animation for a whole season or a whole book. There is too much going on up there.

  14. mayamae says:

I hope that when GOT wraps, they either do a prequel season, or HBO movie covering the time of Robert’s Rebellion. Like the Star Wars prequels (which sucked), it would be a little depressing because we know how it all ends, but I find that time period fascinating.

  15. phlyfiremama says:

So if I’m both a Jon Snow Birther and a Truther, does that mean I’m a…Bruther? Which could also mean “Brother”, if you say it in a Scottish accent? Hmm, the plot thickens. HODOR!!!

  16. Sarre says:

The saddest thing for me is I never realized how much I needed jon snow until he died! He was never my “favorite” character ,I mean I never disliked him but it wasn’t my number one interest at all. I’m absolutely devastated by his death like no other character that has gone before. I guess I assumed he was safe and just never worried about it, now I don’t know if I can continue with the show if he doesn’t come back! JON was the hope and I need his heritage resolved!!! I think I also need him to be in the physical form of Kit Harrington! All I can say is Walking Dead better keep my Rick safe:)

    • mayamae says:

I’ve long predicted that Rick will die in the final season. He will pass the torch to Carl or Judith.

      • Sarre says:

I so hope it’s the final scene! I don’t think I could take it any earlier! My fave character on GoT was Stannis and the w h ole Shireen thing messed me up. I’ve told my friends that is why I love Rick , h we may go crazy with a machete but he would die defending his children! I know two different shows but there has to be a little loyalty somewhere in the running of the kingdom’s or it just . Wears a viewer out!

  17. BasicBitch says:

Omg! I love celebitchy even more for this post. Keep them coming!

  18. Goodnight says:

He’s dead. He’s just not going to stay dead. That’s been the consensus for years.

Hopefully he warged into Ghost and we get some goddamned direwolves next season.
