Tom Hiddleston might appear at Comic-Con next month for ‘Crimson Peak’

wenn22160804

We have been suffering through such a major Tom Hiddleston drought this year. Hiddles has seriously been in the wind! Barely any social media, very few red carpets, a handful of interviews conducted last year but only published recently, only some meager gossip about his dating life (he might have hooked up with Elizabeth Olsen?). I miss him. But maybe – MAYBE! – we’re get to see him soon. According to Variety, Legendary Pictures announced their Comic-Con San Diego line-up and MAYBE Tom Hiddleston is going to do the panel discussion for Crimson Peak. Maybe.

Legendary will show footage and present cast members from “Crimson Peak,” “Krampus” and “Warcraft” at its July 11 panel in Hall H at Comic-Con in San Diego. Nerdist’s Chris Hardwick will host the event.

“Crimson Peak,” directed by Guillermo del Toro, is a gothic horror story starring Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston and Charlie Hunnam. Legendary Pictures produced, with Universal set to release “Crimson Peak” at the height of the Halloween season on Oct. 16.

[From Variety]

See? No confirmation on which cast members are coming to San Diego this year. I can’t imagine there’s a lot of pressure for Jessica Chastain to come, although if she’s there, God bless. Mia Wasikowska will probably be there, considering she’s the lead of the film, of course. But all the press will be around Charlie Hunnam and Tom Hiddleston if they come. And they better come. Please let it happen. Hiddles at Comic-Con is always a pleasure. There will be such a nerd meltdown if he comes to San Diego this year. Lord Dragonfly, please go to San Diego!!!!

Dragonflies – that is the fans’ name right? – are trying not to lose their light bulbs with this news.

    • Dara says:

Lola, I think Dragonflies are a subset of the Hiddleston fan universe, and we are exclusive to the CB comment boards. You won’t see that name anywhere else and it has evolved to be used entirely tongue-in-cheek. We (or at least me) are poking fun at those that insist on giving a name to a fandom, which only seems to happen to teen pop stars and English actors. I am not, and will never be, a Hiddlestoner – but I will roll with Tom until the wheels fall off.

But to confirm your theory – I am indeed sans light bulb with the possibility of an official Tom sighting.

    • Lilacflowers says:

Because it has been a while since we’ve had it here. https://i.mdel.net/i/db/2013/4/151731/151731-800w.jpg

      • TotallyBiased says:

THANK YOU! Lilac dear–because I’d much rather gaze on that gorgeous if OTT picture than AT-J’s mildly bizarre Manson in the desert with colours collection. 😉

  2. Dhavynia says:

Now why wasn’t he in the list of best dressed and that stupid J. Smith was is beyond comprehension.

    We need more Hiddles!

  3. InvaderTak says:

Let’s hope so! Sans costume in character stunt though.

    • Dara says:

I’m with you @InvaderTak – something like that only works once.

      • icerose says:

i agree -he needs a new trick for this but hopefully Del Toro has something up his sleeve-I expect there will be lots of teddy bear hugs and Tom F….Hiddleston and maybe even Tom giving a tour of the house with a cheeky smile on his face

    • NUTBALLS says:

      I concur.

  4. VELVETDRAGONFLY says:

This totally made my day! Squeeeee!

    • Boston Green Eyes says:

Me, too! I was just about to request from Kaiser a Friday Hiddles story, then I clicked on the page and – voila! A Hiddles story!!

      Hiddlestories: #JustLikeComfortFood

      • TotallyBiased says:

Yes to #comfortfood, as when I see the bts TNM pics of him as Pine my first thought is definitely that I could eat him right up!

  5. meme says:

All I care about is seeing Charlie Hunnam at Comic Con. Charlie sightings are very rare since SOA finished (and yes, I still miss Jax…stifles sob)

    • Damn says:

He doesn’t have the paparazzi photo shoots other actors do so without the rare fan pics and Guy Ritchie’s instagram photos from the set we wouldn’t have seen him this year at all.

    • kennedy says:

He actively avoids the papz and he’s been out of the country filming KORT so sightings are even more rare.

I miss SOA but mostly just Jax (and Tara – I love Maggie Siff).

  6. Kate says:

Dear Lord Jesus PLEASE let this be so. I am in DIRE need of some Hiddles.

  7. Abbott says:

There’s been a Charlie drought as well. Do the Charlie fans have a saucy little name, too? Or is it just ‘Abbott?’

    • NUTBALLS says:

Whatever it is, it needs to have something to do with his glorious bum.

    • meme says:

      We’re Charlie’s Angels LOL

    • kennedy says:

It’s basically just any variation of Jax Teller. I call him Hunnam’s Hump. Some days he’s Hummanahummana. Other days, he’s just “He Who Possesses That Glorious Behind.”

      I miss him!!!

      • Dara says:

Kennedy, I’ve never found him to be all that drool-worthy – to each their own – but I’ll give it the old college try if I get to call him Charlie Hummanahummana for all future occasions. Nice one.

    • Miss M says:

Yes, it’s called shank this abbott b*tch

  8. Kiki says:

I miss both Charlie Hunam and Tom Hiddleston. Oh gosh, Tom is looking more handsome all the time.

  9. NUTBALLS says:

Well, GdT did say last year at SDCC that he was bringing Tom this year. We dragonflies have hung onto that little tidbit like the last drops of water in the canteen. I shall be very, very disappointed if he’s not there. Hard-At-Work Tom is so 2014. We need Promo Tom to come back, along with Tuxedo Tom, Red Carpet Tom, Shakespeare-Quoting Tom and just a wee bit of Dancing Tom. MOAR PUDDLETOM!

    • Waitwhat says:

So agreeing with you @nutballs. I love some BTS at-work Jonathan Pine (hello to all those suits of sex), but I want crazy interview answers. Those cheeky grins and answers that go off on wild tangents. Dancing while signing autographs in the Legendary booth. Do you think it’s too much to ask for a Nerd HQ appearance? Because he’d be able to talk about so much more than Loki this time. Maybe a Jurassic World update to his velociraptor.
And Jessica said earlier this year that she was going to Comic-Con, so I’m anxious to see her there, as well. The two of them, plus Charlie?? Internet meltdown.

    • NUTBALLS says:

Waitwhat, I’m hoping for Lord Dragonfly donning his suit of sex channeling Loquacious Loki being cheeky as he talks about his kinky movie in a voluminous manner.

      • Waitwhat says:

@nutballs You can see that naughty smile already, can’t you?? Yes to all of this. Jessica has favorited a tweet about the Crimson Peak panel at CC, so I definitely want to see her there, too.

  10. Leah says:

He is cute even hitching up his drawers in the top picture.

  11. Absolutely says:

When does he start filming Skull Island? I imagine that would probably determine if he’ll show for this.

    • Dara says:

@Absolutely – the timing works. TNM will have wrapped and the Monkey Movie (sorry, Kong: Skull Island) doesn’t start until (I think) August/Sept. He might have to skip Wimbledon for SDCC, but I need to hear him talk about Crimson Peak so I can live without Wimbledon Tom to get a dose of Promo Tom.

      • p'enny says:

Isn’t Wimbledon finals the same weekend as Comic Con?
He missed last year’s wimbo and this year Jaguar are major sponsors with a UK TV campaign with his face all over it. He maybe getting his arm pulled in both directions. He needs to clone himself.

        :-p

I can see him doing both… Comic con saturday, and fly over for men’s final on the Sunday.

And Jarthy on his arm :-p [baity joke, sorry]

      • NUTBALLS says:

P’enny, I could see him doing both as well.

I’ll take the fan-bait. Tis the season for a return of The JArthy.

      • Absolutely says:

I’m not ashamed. I would take a clone.

      • Boston Green Eyes says:

@p’enny: I miss Jarthy!!! THOSE were heady times, they were!

  12. kennedy says:

Um if Hunnam shows up, I will trample over Hiddles to get to that sweet sweet butt. But I doubt Charlie will show up – he is filming back to back films and is going to be out of the country. Come back to America, Hunnam!!!! I need to see that perfectly defined bootay and great head of hair stat.

  13. TotallyBiased says:

There’s actually been a bit of Dragonfly Lord action recently–Empire magazine has a nice bit of interview w/him for their 100 Top/Iconic Villains in the movies (Loki came in at #19, and even made the cover!)

Plus there’s an actual OFFICIAL still shot of Tom as Hank Williams Sr on stage at the Grand Ole Opry–this came from the non-private FB page of someone who just finished working on post-production for IStL a few days ago. Wonder what took so long?
In any case, I can’t link the pic but it is floating around Tumblr. Showed it to mum, she loved it! And she’s seen Hank in person, so that’s promising.

    • Dara says:

Aaargh – I checked today and the person has deleted the ISTL post from her FB page. Her page is public (and even if it weren’t she has thousands of friends), chances were it was going to get seen by someone that would then share it, but I still feel bad when someone deletes after the fact, or gets asked to – I wonder if she caught hell for posting it.

@Totally, given everything that goes into a movie I think 6 months from wrapping the actual filming to finishing post-production is pretty quick.

      • TotallyBiased says:

That is a bit of a downer, to hear that the pic has been deleted. It was watermarked as an official pic, but I guess they didn’t want it released yet. However, what I’m just as sad about losing are the comments–‘average non-dragonfly citizens’ commenting that they had heard about IStL and that it sounded amazing.

      • Dara says:

The comments did bode well I think. One of the commenters even asked “Who is in it?” and was still excited to see it. I love that. Sometimes I forget that we are a small but vocal minority and the real success of a film requires an average movie-goer that doesn’t care if it is the Dragonfly King playing Hank.

And my guess on the photo is that someone was in the editing bay and did a quick cell-phone photo of the movie itself – I think the footage will be marked like that during editing and post to discourage pirating. So not a publicity still, but even better (for us at least), an actual frame from the film. I had to do a double-take, at first I really did think it was a vintage Hank photo.

      • TotallyBiased says:

As mentioned above and in previous threads, my mum thinks this is genius casting–and she just swooned over the picture. She was a gushing preteen w/Hank, Sr’s picture on her wall (seriously, I guess he had his teenybopper ‘Dragonfly’ contingent, as well 😉 ) so this really does bode well!

      • icerose says:

Sony picking ISTL bodes well for possible Oscar attention-they have a good track record for nominations and winners-I have all the the big festivals on alert waiting to see if anything comes up.My guess is it will not have a general release as it could not compete with block busters

      • TotallyBiased says:

I just get frustrated when a movie of his is SO difficult to find in the theatre. OLLA played for LESS THAN A WEEK (and not at all on the weekend) in my city. And that was two shows a day in the most inappropriate downtown multiplex theatre. With NO advertising. A LITTLE effort could go a long way–if OLLA *hadn’t* been picked up by Sony Classics, and had been released as a true independent, the indie theatres would have LOVED to give it a good run in their cinemas. As it was/is, as soon as it has the SPC imprint, the indie theatres can’t touch it. Or so they explained to me.

  14. jammypants says:

He really is a unicorn. A rare sight. A rare being.

  15. Miss Melissa says:

    Guillermo promised.

    • NUTBALLS says:

TB & Dara, there is a watermarked ISTL picture on Twitter that I’ve never seen, if you hashtag his name.

      • TotallyBiased says:

        NuttyRunner 😉
Scroll up to comment #13, and the conversation Dara and I were having. That IS in fact the picture we were discussing. Unfortunately, tweets like that may be part of why it has since been deleted from FB (or she made her account private.) No way to know.

      • NUTBALLS says:

I wondered if that was the one. It seems that when it gets taken down on a blog, it ends up on Twitter. My huz thought he made a striking resemblance to Hank and so did I.

This is my #1 most anticipated movie this year. I hope Marc does the story justice… I have no doubt Tom will.

  16. koko says:

By the end of this year, this man is going to be one tired puppy and I just want to let him know I will be free for any kind of trip to any kind of “paradise” like island. Just in case others are unavailable.
    🙂

    • P'enny says:

      we are all available 🙂

    • TotallyBiased says:

Evidently, there will be a line.

      Okay, okay–overused 😉

But TELL me you weren’t all thinking it.

      • 'P'enny says:

Lol I was, me at front & the rest of behind esp Lilacflowres whose been hogging him for two years 😃

      • Lilacflowers says:

Ahem, ‘P’enny, you keep forgetting there is a lending program in place and he is not with me all the time but goes to visit others.

    • Lilacflowers says:

I am always available for my husband Tom.

    • icerose says:

all I am saying i that is surprising the comfort you can fit in between sets with the inclusion of black cats and talented hands

    • TotallyBiased says:

      SUCH lovely smiles!

    • Dara says:

Gosh, it’s been a long shoot. They started in March and are just now getting close to the end. What is that – about 15 weeks? That means a lot of hours on screen doesn’t it (she asks in a small, hopeful voice)? I think this show goes to the top of my “can’t wait” list, even more than ISTL or Crimson Peak. My inner travel junkie can’t wait to see all the beautiful scenery, and this time I’m not talking about Tom, at least not entirely…

      • Waitwhat says:

6 hours. And I’m pretty sure Tom is in most of them. Or as I like to think of it, the equivalent of 3 movies. I can’t wait to see this and all the scenery, as well. Any show that starts at the Matterhorn, and goes through London, Marrakech and Mallorca is going to look amazing. Plus the cast….

      • Dara says:

6 hours hardly seems like enough time to fit in all of the fantastic stuff they must have shot. An hour of television in the US is really only 40-ish minutes because of the commercials. Maybe it will expand to 90 mins in the US? AMC has run episodes of Mad Men and Walking Dead that went over the 60-minute mark. If they cut stuff out to make room for ads, I’ll lose my sh#t.

    • TotallyBiased says:

Glad you folks can post these–they never stay up fpr me! But, yes, sure looks like a wrap party. Could just be for this section of the shoot, or (as it has been three months)it could be for the whole shebang.

      • Dara says:

@Totally, I think they are still filming, but should wrap by the end of the week. The ISTL wrap party was the weekend before filming actually finished too and at the time I wondered why. Best I can come up with is that once the work is actually done all anyone wants to do is get the heck out of town and back home to their lives, not stick around and party.

The core TNM crew has been on the road for a very long time – they left for Morocco in mid-April and then went straight from there to Mallorca without a break. The actors may be able to fly home for an occasional weekend, but I bet everyone else has to stick around. Don’t get me wrong, I bet they follow the work hard/play hard mantra while on location, but I imagine almost all of them are ready to head home by now.

      • Waitwhat says:

@dara I think they also do it a bit ahead since not everyone shoots right up until the last day. Same thing with the Crimson Peak wrap. I think only Tom and Jim Beaver shot on the last day. If you do it a week ahead, you’ll still have a chunk of cast and crew there. Unlike a stage production, where everyone’s there till the bitter end, so your cast party is after.

    • Lilacflowers says:

Would love to know what the “epic Sunday adventure” was.

  18. Abby_J says:

I guess I know which line Mr. Abby-J and I will be waiting in. 😉 Gonna be awesome to see a talk from a movie that I won’t go see. Hubby will though, so he can give me the run down. Still totally worth it if my Dragonfly king is really going to be there. Double points if Charlie Hunnam will be there too.

It’s a good thing my hubby is used to this stuff. Between the possibility of an actual Hiddles sighting, and my complete obsession with Peter Capaldi, there is going to be a lot of fan-girling going on. Trade off, of course, is that I will spend untold hours looking through comic book seller booths with him.

Now, if we just get an official Deadpool panel, hubby and I can fan girl together. 🙂

It’s TOTALLY official now–Sony Pictures Classics has confirmed the Nov 27th release date for IStL.
Also, a spanish-language magazine has some gorgeous pics of Tom and Jessica.

    • NUTBALLS says:

So it is the day AFTER Thanksgiving after all? I wonder why they wouldn’t capitalize on the T-Day moviegoing crowd?

      • TotallyBiased says:

I don’t understand that either. My mum and I would jump at the opportunity to go Thanksgiving Day! BUT they may be cautious of not alienating a conservative demographic that views it through the near-religious lens of this VERY family oriented holiday.

  20. TotallyBiased says:

I’m thrilled that they view this as a prestigious move, but is that a bit of snark in referring to “Tom Hiddleston who has never been nominated for an Oscar”?
    http://blogs.indiewire.com/thompsononhollywood/sony-pictures-classics-adds-hank-williams-biopic-i-saw-the-light-starring-tom-hiddleston-to-awards-slate-20150629
Because they go on to tout the possibilities of plenty of other folks who’ve ALSO (gasp!) never been nominated before, without feeling the need to so describe them. I’m not pushing him to win awards when we haven’t even seen a trailer, much less the film–but there has to be a first-time nomination for everyone.

  21. TotallyBiased says:

Since I seem to be on a roll, here.
    http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/sony-slates-i-saw-the-light-for-awards-slot-tom-hiddleston-looking-for-first-nom/
Also, the saving country music site did another post on it, and over all comments seem to be trending more positively than before.

  22. TotallyBiased says:

That SDCC schedule is vicious–Marvel has all their best TV talent signings (Clark Gregg, Hayley Atwell, for example) on Saturday opposite Hall H. The Agent Carter signing is during WB/DC’s presentation! Hmmm. Of course, if one could somehow make it to the signing and then get back to Hall H early enough, there are probably going to be some people who leave after the WB/DC panel and so more folks will get let in.

  23. NUTBALLS says:

It looks like Tom will be at SDCC after all… according to Collider:
