I thought it would be fun to kick this post off with a vintage 2008 photo of Miley Cyrus at the VMAs. Only five years later, Miley took the VMAs stage to twerk and rub her tush all over Robin Thicke and his Beetlejuice costume. Together, the duo inspired thousands of coupley Halloween costumes and angered parent associations. I still say Robin knew what was coming, and so did his twerk partner. Robin isn’t doing so well lately, but Miley’s having a grand time and still begging for attention.
Last year, Miley kept it tamer at the VMAs and let her date’s social cause take the stage to accept her Best Video award. Miley will head back into “look at me” mode by hosting the show this year. She Instagrammed her announcement with a “MTV won’t let me perform. So I’m hosting this year’s VMAs” caption.
Miley will find a way to raunch things up. This is, after all, a show that Russell Brand once hosted with a Jonas Brothers purity ring joke. This will be business as usual for both the host and the cable channel. I only hope Miley will wear clothing at some point during the evening.

But they inspire the masses to get pregnant at a young age with the hopes that MTV will foot the bill for their lives so that they can act like drunken, drugged up adult-babies forever. How can you argue with such a meaningful contribution?

I kinda have a soft spot for her. She seems attention seeking, but harmless.
That purity ring joke was hardly raunchy.

Swift acts like a complete mean girl, I was done with her after she got pissy with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for that GG joke.
I flip flop on Swift, currently I find her very annoying. I could forgive her for getting mad at Tina and Amy, because maybe they hit her where it hurts the most.
But more and more, she does seem like a mean girl and her persona is soo staged so God knows what she’s really like.
Miley seems like someone who wants to have a PR strategy, but just fails in an epic way.
Miley seems more human and less like a bot.

I hope she does a good hosting gig and silences the critics. If Kanye tries his nonsense she’ll put him in his place.
I also find Kanye adorable. The more ridiculous he gets, the more I like him.
There’s actually a lot I like about Miley. She’s been slowly growing into an interesting woman.
But… she can still be kind of grating, and hosting an awards show could highlight that.
Really I haven’t seen the growth yet.

As far as press and publicity are concerned, it is a match made in heaven.
People will tune in to see what kind of crass, attention seeking move she will make. And since she needs LOTS of attention, I assume she will do her best to top her last appearance.
Things I’m sure we’ll see-references to how much she loves weed and molly, many appearances by the seas slug that is her tongue, mention of her getting “caught” fingering her girlfriend in that parking lot, mention of her dyed pubic hair and armpits, pretty much anything that will be considered pushing the line.
Her outfits will probably involve latex, pot leaf motifs and more visuals of her crotch and taped up nipples than anyone wants to see.
Basically the kind of thing that will make you feel like you want to shower afterwards. And then I’m figuring she will release a new album to capitalize on the attention.
This will end well..said no one. Ever. I guess the gig hosting “Masterpiece Theatre” was snapped up by Lil Kim.
Can’t stand her attention seeking behaviour. I just find her sad and desperate frankly.
