I do love it when I’m right. The vibe I’ve been getting from Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander for a month now is that he tapped out of the relationship and she was trying to make it work until (at least) they promoted their film later this fall. That really isn’t Fassy’s style, you know? He’s not into staying with a girlfriend/costar to help promote a movie. And now Us Weekly says Fassy and Alicia are done. Who would have thought? Oh, right. Me.
Over and out and single once again. Michael Fassbender and his girlfriend, Alicia Vikander, have split after less than a year of dating, a source reveals to Us Weekly exclusively.
Fassbender, 38, and Vikander, 26, first met on the set of their film, The Light Between Oceans, and continued spending time together in late 2014, fueling dating speculation. They were last photographed together in May at the Formula One Grand Prix in Monaco, where they looked affectionate and happy as they enjoyed the races.
I always got the feeling that there were hard feelings when Fassy and Nicole Beharie split, but by most accounts, he’s stayed friends (possibly friends with benefits) with Zoe Kravitz. I wonder what will go down with Alicia and Fassy in the aftermath? Will the promotional tour for The Light Between Oceans end up being awkward as hell? Or will they “get back together” in time to promote the movie? Hm. My other thought is that Alicia got great reviews for her performance in The Danish Girl coming out of TIFF, and maybe Fassy just rejected the notion that he should or would play Nicholas Hoult to Alicia’s J-Law, you know? Fassy is not your plus-one to the Oscars. He’s not going to hold your purse while you accept an award. I’m not saying that like I think it’s a good thing – if anything, it shows that Fassy is a profoundly self-involved guy.
Update: A source close to Vikander told Gossip Cop that Us Weekly’s story is false. So… Alicia is still trying to make this thing work? And Fassy couldn’t be bothered.

I have the completly different impression of her, she seems rather independent and career-focused at the moment. I don’t follow them unless they are featured on this site, but she doesn’t seem to follow him around that much, she is doing her own thing. She strikes me as being the female version of him.

He strikes me as the kinda guy that will bang you if you are there and convenient, but he will not go out of his way to accommodate your needs or wants in his life. Its his way or nothing. I base this on nothing but a gut feeling, which may be just hunger, I will have a snack and see if the feeling persists.
That’s a spot on analysis of his relationships and his character. I read some of his interviews and there’ s not much depth, he partys, drinks, films and hooks up with women who bore him after a short while.

I think you nailed it, Zapp. And Alicia seems fairly level headed so she may have actually been the one to pull the plug on things officially, as he was probably happy to continue hooking up with her when they were in the same city promoting or otherwise.
If true, I feel bad for her. Falling for someone only to realize they’re not willing to put any work into making you happy or being there for you is a sad state to find yourself in. You want so badly for that person to reciprocate, but you get blank stares and shoulder shrugs. It’s horrible.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I typically don’t fall for someone hard until 6-8 months in, so I’d be okay with Fassy. LOL

Why would he care about being her plus one? His film is getting better reviews than hers. He’ll probably be nominated for an Oscar too.
Fassy has got rave reviews for Steve Jobs. At the moment, while they are both likely to be nominated, he’s in serious contention for Best Actor, while Vikander is probably at best in second place in the Best Supporting Actress category behind Rooney Mara. So I doubt if he’d be doing much purse-holding during awards season.
Kate Winslet is second behind Mara.
Early days yet! Vikander could yet win, or go for Best Actress – but the mixed response to the Danish Girl may hold her back.
She stands no chance against Mara and Winslet and in Leading Actress, JLaw, Blanchette, Mulligan and Soirsa Ronan all have better chances.
Ladies, don’t forget Brie Larson. Voted best performance at Telluride and getting nothing but rave reviews for ROOM, along with her young co-star.
Watch her in Short Term 12 (on Netflix) and be impressed. She could very well walk away with the golden boy this year.

I will be amazed if Mara makes it all the way through an awards campaign, unless she’s done some serious work on her interviewing skills. That girl does not come across very well.
I think that it’s early to talk about who will win, but I think it’s entirely possible to see all of these women in the mix. Though did I read somewhere that Blanchett may actually step aside to Supporting to give Mara a chance to shine?
There was a blind that the relationship isn’t real – manufactured by studio – and they both are tired of it. Like he wants to get it on with Marion or someone like this, and she wants someone her age and who she is more compatible with.
I read that as well and I could see him falling for Marion Cotillard, definitely. I just have a hard time imagining the type of woman he would want to be with more permanently. Not saying that he has to, though.

It was so obviously a PR romance. I feel like Alicia will do anything to become famous. But they’re both very attractive people so probably they had good time. I think it lasted an adequate amount of time to get some media buzz. In the end how long can you stay with somebody that your PR teams chose?
Her face has very unusual features, but the softness of her overall countenance really blends eyes, nose, cheeks, forehead, brows, in an appealing and beautiful way. Something about her face reminds me of Cate Blanchett, I think it’s the ambiguity they present to the public, it gives them the space to contort their looks to achieve differences of character.
Blanchette’s stage acting annoys me in films, I found her awful in the Aviator and her new status as “OMG she’s the greatest” is ridiculous. Also her face is starting to remind me of Joker.
Then there’s her Woody Allen defense.

I know they are basically married people but this is a personal thing of mine: if you don’t marry someone for real, sorry, the other person is your partner/boyfriend. Which is good because he won’t have to put a second divorce on his name when they eventually split.
Two years is a lot, if they were dating for nine years and a half ok. But many things can happen in two years. So I wouldn’t say a decade, it sounds like a lot and they’ve been dating for nearly 8 years. It’s a lot of time indeed but not a decade. He was with Kruger for almost the same time too.

I am a very passionate person, but I don’t discuss feelings too much (I have a wall around me and don’t let my guard down too quickly or easily) and have a life outside of a blossoming relationship. It typically drives men wild that I don’t act like previous exes and has them chase me. It isn’t a game either, I am an only child and prefer my space and to not feel too much too quickly. It simply is who I am. I haven’t met my match either, someone who really challenges me, when I do, I will finally get married too.

I have a feeling that Fassy and “twinkle toes” broke up because they are very high demand actors and they are not going to spend a lot of time with each other. I know people keep saying they were never photographed together but there are a whole lot of regular/candid/fan photos of them out together in all kinds of places. They r just not paparazzi photos. I was curious when I read they were a PR thing so looked at some of the Fassbender tumblr sights. There actually seem to be a lot more photos like that then paparazzi so maybe it was real? I dunno just found this relationship interesting.
Exactly right. They both had a lot of commitments over the summer but were never away from each other for more than a week. There’s photographic evidence that she was with him in Montreal a number of times in June, July, and August. He spent the Swedish Midsummer with her and her friends. They both vacationed in Nicaragua and Costa Rica around the week of July 4. They went to a wedding in London together in August. They were both in Malta/Italy as little as two weeks ago.
Now, I’m not saying that they didn’t manipulate the media a few times. And I think the relationship was pretty casual. But the fact that they weren’t “officially” photographed together since May doesn’t suggest anything about their relationship. They were genuinely keeping it pretty low-key.

I think you’re right about Fassbender being self-involved. He’s just one of “those” guys (the kind that is willing to bang you and have a good time, but never wants to take it to the next level). I’ve definitely held out for guys like that before (usually not more than 6 to 8 months), but it’s never worth it in the end. Guys like that don’t change.
