Jennifer Lawrence sent Amy Schumer a room full of balloons for her Emmy win

Never tell Jennifer L your room number

As Kaiser discussed yesterday, Amy Schumer walked away with the Best Variety/Sketch Show award at the Emmys. When she got back to her hotel room, this is what she discovered — a room full of balloons from Jennifer Lawrence. This seems like overkill to me, but I’m all about practical gifts. Amy couldn’t take all of these balloons with her, right? I guess this is the same sentiment as a hotel room full of roses. It’s the thought that counts, and Instagram is there to preserve the moment. Schumer told Entertainment Tonight, “Jennifer sent me a really sweet text. She said that I looked pretty but not smart.” What a JLaw thing to say, but I’m sure she meant it in the best way possible.

Over the past few months, Amy and Jennifer have been fast friends after JLaw fangirled Amy. They went jet-skiing together and danced on a piano at a Billy Joel concert. But Amy told E! Online that she and Jennifer aren’t best friends, only really good friends:

“We really like each other, but I think the media blew it up,” Schumer told me yesterday at the Emmys. “We’re not BFFs. We’re just Fs, but we’re really good Fs.

“I have BFFs since I was 8 years old so it’ll be tough to uproot them,” the Trainwreck star said.

Schumer did give an update on the movie that she and her sister Kim Caramele wrote with the Oscar winner. She said they’re hoping to start shooting in February 2017.

[From E! Online]

This isn’t a knock against JLaw but a way for Amy to acknowledge that she’s keeping it real. Amy’s not going to forget about her lifelong pals who supported her on the way to the top. She won’t throw them aside for a fart-loving Oscar winner. I’m sure some people would see this as a slight, especially those who don’t like Jennifer. Yet many of those same people don’t like Amy either. If we really do want to start a bit of gossip, then we could start a rumor about Amy being jealous of Jennifer in bed with Kris Jenner. After all, Amy did say Kim Kardashian and Kanye West had no idea who she was when she pranked them at the Time 100 event. Hmmm.

I love balloons as well. I always wanted to fill a huge room full of pretty balloons. Only thing I don’t like is when they pop, freaks me out. So guess you could say im excited and frightened at the same time- I’m a weirdo.

OMG, Tify, I thought I was the only one stuck in that weird love-hate relationship with balloons. I love balloons, they’re awesome; but I also hate when they pop/rub against each other and make that squeaky sound. The first time I ever blew a balloon was when I was organizing my son’s second birthday party because I was just always freaked out about the popping.
I was a complete wreck this weekend because I made my husband blow up balloons in the middle of the night for our daughter’s birthday (wake up with a bunch of balloons) but they kept popping in the middle of the night – freaked me out. Will not be doing that again.

ETA: I realized I got a bit long-winded there, but I’ve never heard anyone admit having the same problem before.

My friends and I prank each other by filling up rooms, showers, or cars (do NOT leave your windows cracked around my ladies) and call it “upping”. Not sure who came up with the idea, but seeing my car filled with balloons is still once of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.

In college my roommate filled an empty room in our house with balloons and strobe light. Then they’d get altered and hit balloons at each other, frequently getting hit in the face because of the effects strobes have on depth perception and speed.

I thought it was a sweet gesture as well!.

Perhaps Schumer was trying to differentiate her friendship with Lawrence from the type of “friend collecting” that Taylor Swift does.

Lawrence and Schumer by all accounts really are friends and the friendship is blossoming naturally, the way a real friendship should.

In the case of Taylor Swift and her “girl squad”, it seems forced, fake and there is definitely a sense of a hierarchy. Swift is in very top position, and everyone else knows their respective places.

Lawrence and Schumer’s friendship seems more genuine, IMHO.

To me some of the Swift gang seem like they are only there to avoid being a target, like in middle school. You didn’t really like “her”, and you hated how she treated people – but you dang straight sat and her table and told her how awesome she was because you didn’t want to be next. 🙁

Omg, I would be sitting in a corner crying and drooling. I am so scared of balloons. You never know when they will pop and startle you and if you are near them when they pop it hurts. My brothers used to chase me with balloons. A room full of balloons…nooooooooo

    • korra says:

@Goodnames Haha you sound just like this character from the IT Crowd (my favorite show). “Balloons explode, Jen. They explode suddenly, and unexpectedly. They are filled with the capacity to give me a little fright, and I find that unbearable.”

    • Cindy says:

I never knew there was such a thing as balloon phobia, I wonder if it has a name? LOL. Did you have a tramatic balloon experience? Poor Gnat. 🙂

    • mimif says:

I’m afraid of hot air balloons. Like legit they freak me out can’t look at them scary me fear. And then I think about what it would be like to ride in one, and then I die.

    • Tiffany :) says:

In my first dance recital as a little kid, we did a dance called “Me and My Balloon”. At the end, we were supposed to pop it with a toothpick. I intentionally “missed” my balloon, because I was scared it would blind me when it popped. But then I dropped my toothpick in my overly theatrical “missing” of the balloon, and I was worried about other dancers stepping on it, so after the dance ended I stayed on stage looking for the dropped toothpick while a theater filled with people laughed at me. Good times. 😉

She and Jennifer would be good in a movie together. I’m looking forward to it.

    • Dee Kay says:

YES. I don’t care about this RL friendship, they can Instagram and hang out on pianos all they want, whatever, just another two celebrity blondes out on the town, who cares. BUT I think they are both talented performers (Schumer is a great comedienne and Lawrence is a great actress imo), and I cannot wait to see them in a movie together. I’m hoping it will be really, really funny and I’ll be disappointing if it’s just them trying to be cute together.

This is cute. Nothing negative to say here. I think they seem fun and normal (for celebrities).
