Prince Harry’s Christmas card features a 95-year-old Battle of Britain veteran

I didn’t realize that Prince Harry was allowed to do his own Christmas card, but here you go. According to the Kensington Palace Twitter, Harry selected the above image for his 2015 Christmas card. While the other royals chose Christmas card images that highlighted their families, Harry chose an image to recognize one of the highlights of his year: meeting and spending time with 95-year-old Tom Neil, a British veteran of the Battle of Britain. They posed together back in September.

As for the hopes that Harry will spend 2016 looking for a bride and getting down to making babies… who knows? I tend to believe he’s still holding out hope that Chelsy Davy will eventually agree to marry him. I think he still carries a torch for her. But at this point… no, I don’t think they should try to get married. She would be a disaster as a royal bride. So, here’s hoping that Harry finds a nice, hard-working blonde who’s up for royal challenges. My hope is that Harry avoids the ladies thrown at him by Camilla, Kate and the Middletons. I hope he meets a young woman through his charitable endeavors and she knocks his socks off and challenges him and makes him a better man.

Here are some hot photos of Harry last week during his visit to Mildmay Hospital. I never got around to posting these and they’re really nice.

    Class act!

  2. InvaderTak says:

Eh, I kind of like the idea of a royal bachelor.

And I love his card. Go Harry!

  3. Senaber says:

Wonderful card! Hope he sent a stack to Mr. Neil to send out as well.

    • anne_000 says:

      @ Senaber

The DM link says that Neil got the card along with a personal message in his mail slot and has a very nice interview with him about it. He says he was surprised that the photo was Harry’s Xmas card. He talks about his time chatting with Harry at the memorial event. This is the same event at which Harry gave up his plane seat to Neil when one of the other planes couldn’t fly and Harry didn’t want Neil to miss his last chance flying in one of the types of planes he flew during the world war.

  4. Wentworth Miller says:

I get the feeling that sexxy Harry doesn’t really care about palace rules and would have posted that card whether he was allowed to or not.
The veteran reminds me of Senator Ted Kennedy.

    • Hawkeye says:

Agree about sending a rogue Christmas card, Wentworth Miller! I like reading about royal shenanigans (which is why the Grimaldis are my favourite for scandals and the Swedish royal family for coolness), but I find both Harry and William (especially William) to be dull. Harry, although more fun and in possession of an actual personality, just strikes me as a garden variety dudebro, and William has the spark of a dial tone.

  5. nic says:

Mark my words… He’s gonna marry a brunette or a red head.

  6. Hudson Girl says:

Am I the only one who doesn’t think the Chelsy relationship was all that beyond a teenager/early 20 something relationship.

I think the whole she didn’t want the royal life thing is BS. She would have coped just fine with the life if she thought Harry was madly in love with her.

    • FLORC says:

No. People have a glorified image of Davy like it was a deep love. Not 2 young, rich kids having a relationship that just doesn’t continue. That Davy left to have a career and not be suffocated is another rose tinted view of her.

  7. Sochan says:

Harry is the real deal — warts and all. He loves the military and loves his country. I don’t see this kind of passion for anything from William and Kate.

  8. Linn says:

Nice christmas card picture, I wouldn’t have thougth that man was 95-year-old if the text didn’t say so.

  9. The Original Mia says:

I love Harry’s card. No fakeness in that pictures. He’s a military man and he honored another military man. Well done, Harry!

  10. Melly says:

    Harry & Chelsy 4 Eva!!!!

  11. Murphy says:

He hasn’t been with Chelsea in YEARS, why do people keep saying that?!

    • wow says:

They play with keeping the dream alive. Sort of like how I wish Harry would end up marrying a guy or Pippa. We know it won’t happen but we can hope.

  12. Betti says:

I could see him with someone who is a humanitarian like Anelgina Jolie but blonde.

  13. Minxx says:

I hope he marries a woman of substance and they become far more popular than Kate & Will. I have a feeling he won’t marry a vapid social climber.

    • wow says:

That’s more than likely the type he will pick. That type is his main circle. Aristocrat or trust fund trophy girl. And that is fine too. Being from a rich family doesn’t make someone a bad choice. Just as not being rich doesn’t make someone a better choice.

It would be nice if he ends up with someone who we haven’t seen him with yet. Time for a new face.

  14. Elizabeth says:

I liked the American soldier who did the walk around Britain for charity before she had to have her leg amputated. That’s the kind of substance he needs.

    • Chrissy says:

Yes, I just thought of her too. An actual wounded soldier who delayed her amputation surgery in order to raise money and awareness for the Walking Wounded. A woman of substance, heart and energy. Just like Harry. Too bad she has a boyfriend.

      • India Andrews says:

I womder if a woman of that calibre would tolerate the bullshit in the British royal family?

      • notasugarhere says:

Letizia has dealt with plenty of BS in the SRF, including a father-in-law who sidelined her, a very conservative MIL, and a SIL-and-husband who undermined her publicly and privately. If Harry marries, let’s hope he picks someone who can rise above it like Letizia did/does.

      • India Andrews says:

But Leti gets to snuggle up to Felipe. From everything I’ve heard he is a very nice guy.

Harry is nice too but let’s face it, he has his shortcomings if you believe the rumors. He i herited some of the negatives from Charles and Diana.

      • FLORC says:

        India
        What rumors?
By many accounts Harry works hard, is dedicated, and owns his mistakes.
For all the negatives we hear of Harry for being the spare we don’t hear of him having the negative traits of his parents.

  15. anne_000 says:

I remember that Harry gave up his seat in the plane for Neil at the memorial event, because one of the planes couldn’t fly and Harry didn’t want Neil to lose out on a chance to fly one last time in the type of plane he flew in during the world war. Very nice.

And the DM article has Neil saying nice things about Harry.

It was Harry’s good deed and it’s nice that he’s used that moment on a card that will be seen internationally to commemorate war veterans. I’m saying ‘nice’ too much.

How is it that Harry’s card brings out the ‘awwww’ in me that W&K’s card didn’t so much? Anyhoo…

I hope Harry finds a mature woman with over a decade and a half of consistent, professional work experience, highly educated, one with her feet on the ground, secure with herself, and from a family with normal people, whatever their social and financial status may be. I’d rather not go through another long period of years having the new duchess be very slowly immersed into the royal world as if she were an idiotic woman-child who’s never been in the real world before.

    • maggie says:

Sounds like you want another Kate. On another note Harry is going bald. Sad.

      • vauvert says:

??? How did “mature woman with over a decade and a half of consistent, professional work experience, highly educated, one with her feet on the ground, secure with herself, and from a family with normal people, whatever their social and financial status may be” sound to you like Kate in any way?
I agree with anne_000’s description of an ideal Harry bride 100%. And it sounds like the complete opposite of shallow, vapid, work shy, insecure, dim Kate.

      • maggie says:

She has three out of five things for sure. Kate might be a tad insecure but we don’t know. So perhaps she has four out of five. One knows you can’t have it all.

      • notasugarhere says:

vauvert, I’m with you. I’m not seeing KM hitting anything on that checklist.

      • FLORC says:

        Maggie
        What 3 out of 5?
The Midds are only normal from a pr image. Other royal inlaws are wealthy and do not need to chase a camera. And that goes for most aristos. Middleton behavior is not normal for any financial state.

A good education is not a given because you went to a good school and graduated. This is long proven. And that while Kate did graduate she has been said to have struggled greatly and retained almost none of that education.
We get examples of that often.

Feet on the ground? If this was true she would have worked before william and work consistently now understanding her place in the Monarchy is not secured.

And I think Kate is quite secure. You’d have to be to flash yourself so often.

        Vauv/Nota
Harry will get a lovely girl. sometimes that takes time.

  16. India Andrews says:

    Good choice Harry.

  17. BooBooLaRue says:

I love him for this. Good on ya!

  18. kri says:

He is totally everything the monarchy needs now. And also, me too. He is laying me with his charm and class. And his naturalness. Nothing stiff (hehe) here or rumpty-tumpty. Just my Ginger It Prince.

  19. serious says:

This is the man who was meant to be king. Hopefully fate will intervene and somehow it will happen.

    • India Andrews says:

      + 1,000

    • wow says:

“Hopefully fate will intervene and somehow it will happen”

Wow! Just wow! Do you realise who all would have to die in order for that to happen? SMH.

      • notasugarhere says:

Or William would have to admit that he doesn’t want to be royal or do the work, nor does he want to subject their children to it, so he steps aside and takes his line with him. It does not have to involve death.

      • FLORC says:

        wow
There isn’t only William’s death for that to happen. I hardly think that is what they meant.
fate could be the press refuse to cover up or not print William’s many scandals.
Fate could mean William refuses the crown upon realising he wouldn’t serve the role properly. It’s more than order of birth that qualifies IMO.

Or that William decides this isn’t the life for him and he should let Harry rule.
Those are only a few ways. There are more.
        No need to be grimm.

  20. d says:

That’s a nice card and nice of him to do that. Keepin’ it real, buddy. A smart approach.
As for a partner for Harry, I’m going to keep saying this until it happens: I think the best type of woman for him is someone close to his age who has work experience AND military experience (and preferably also charity work experience). Someone who is emotionally mature and strong enough to handle the challenges of being part of the royal family. I think having the military experience will be a way of relating and connecting with each other, as would having the charity work experience. I think all the women that he’s been with so far, at least in the public eye, have been somewhat flighty. He deserves someone who’s been there, done that. Someone fun, naturally, so they’ve had a fun time in their early years, but having already done that, they’re also able to live a bit more seriously now, kind of like where Harry seems to be in his life. I feel like someone who’s been successful in the military might have the character and presence of mind to deal with the challenges of the role. And I say that with my teeth clenched, because for all the challenges, I still don’t think it can be THAT bad compared to what us normals have to deal with on a daily basis and esp. with all the financial uncertainty out there, house prices skyrocketing, and so on. Geez, she’d have a roof over her head, food and drink always available, people to talk to, nice living arrangements. So you have to deal with the media. Well, BOO-F’ing-HOO.

    This is so thoughtful.
