Lindsay Lohan gets Marilyn Monroe quote tattoo; might ‘pull a Britney’

After Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson broke up, LiLo decided it was time for a change. Off to the hair salon to get a red dye job on her real hair and extensions. The day before, she had gotten a tattoo on her inner wrist with a Marilyn Monroe quote, “Everyone’s a star and deserves the right to twinkle” surrounded by colorful stars.

The Marilyn Monroe reference is not a new one for Lindsay; in one effort to revive her career, she did a photo shoot in which she posed nude save for a scarf, mimicking Marilyn’s last photo shoot. Lindsay also once claimed that she looked at Marilyn as an example of “what this industry can do to someone” but hasn’t exactly followed her own advice.

According to a source who has seen the new ink, Lohan, 22, got a Marilyn Monroe quote tattooed in cursive on her inner-wrist during her visit to the Shamrock Social Club in West Hollywood last week. Monroe’s full quote is: “Everyone’s a star and deserves the right to twinkle.” The wording is also surrounded by yellow, blue and green stars.

It’s no surprise that Lohan’s latest body art was inspired by the Hollywood legend. Last year, she recreated Monroe’s famous nude 1962 photo shoot for New York magazine, telling the publication at the time that Monroe’s life could serve as a cautionary tale. Namely, she said, Monroe was a “prime example of what this industry can do to someone.”

After her split with Samantha Ronson, Lohan has been struggling, a source says, noting, “She feels alone. All of their mutual friends have turned on her; she’s 22 but this would be tough to handle at any age.”

How would Lindsay not get the Marilyn Monroe quote/death by overdose correlation? Usually you don’t ink your body unless you understand all of the implications, but not Lindsay. I’m guessing that she just doesn’t understand how desperate and pathetic this makes her look.

I’m predicting a Britney-style meltdown very soon. First step is the shaving of the head, then the tattoo, then the bashing of a paparazzo’s car with an umbrella. Though I have the feeling that Lindsay is too vain to shave her head, the tattoo is a step in that direction. Someone needs to get her help, and fast.

Here’sLindsay Lohan, looking awfully skinny, and her sister, Ali Lohan, running into the Byron & Tracey hair salon on April 9th. Images thanks to Pacific Coast News.

link to the best thing thats come out of her mouth since mean girls…

  2. Codzilla says:

I know I’m going to be torn to shreds for saying this, but that quote is really cheesy.

  3. Kimberly says:

I agree , I’m pretty sure Monroe has said some more better “qoutables” than that .
Enough for it to be a tattoo no less .

And yea Lohan would be too vain for choppin the locks off .

  4. bdthomp says:

Does she really need two Blackberries?

  5. boomchakaboom says:

    Hollow, hollow, person.

I think that parody thing she did is awful. The whole ‘if you can make a joke about it, you’re forgiven’ mentality kind of rubs me the wrong way and this wasn’t even that funny. What happened to the girl who was just screaming to US Weekly a few days ago, ‘I Am So Alone’? Yeah, she’s really turned things around in two days.

She gave a much more convincing performance in the Fornarina commercial.

  7. boomchakaboom says:

Look for Lilo in an episode of “Whatever happened to _____”

  8. ! says:

I think she likes the quote because she feels it justifies her place in Hollywood.

  9. gg says:

Wow, all the great quotes from this woman and she chose the most meaningless one?

    e.g.:

    • Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.

    • I restore myself when I’m alone.

    • I don’t mind making jokes, but I don’t want to look like one.

    • Ever notice how ‘What the hell’ is always the right answer?

    • When it comes down to it, I let them think what they want. If they care enough to bother with what I do, then I’m already better than them.

    • My work is the only ground I’ve ever had to stand on. I seem to have a whole superstructure with no foundation — but I’m working on the foundation.

    • I’m trying to find myself as a person, sometimes that’s not easy to do. Millions of people live their entire lives without finding themselves. But it is something I must do. The best way for me to find myself as a person is to prove to myself that I am an actress.

    • I don’t want to make money. I just want to be wonderful.

    • It’s better to be unhappy alone than unhappy with someone.

    • Hollywood is a place where they’ll pay you a thousand dollars for a kiss and fifty cents for your soul.

    • I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when their right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust noone but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

    and my personal favorite:

    • It’s all make believe, isn’t it?

You know all of this hype over Marilyn Monroe annoys me to no end. What’s she done that’s so bloody special? Die before she could turn into an old hag?

    *ahem*
I do hope Lohan doesn’t have a total meltdown. I don’t really care for her acting and whathaveyou but nobody deserves to go through something like that.

  11. Wonder Woman says:

    Thanks GG:

MM was wonderful, I beleive we all loved her: I love that quote of hers: “I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when their right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust noone but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”

But anyway, i almost cried in disgust when I saw Lindsey trying to pose as MM on that magazine. EEWWWWWWWW yuck blah!

  12. Bodhi says:

    Thanks GG! Those are awesome!

Anyway, I don’t see how getting a tattoo is a cry for help. I have a bunch & none of them foreshadowed a meltdown. LL’s, however, seems like a total attention grab, especially releasing the the whole text. If someone had said “Oh yeah, she got a MM quote” I really don’t think the public would be clamoring for the actual text.

Oh and how in the hell would that fit on her skinny-ass wrist? Thats 10 pounds of shit being shoved into a 5 pound sack

  13. allison says:

The red hair looks fantastic. She would look even more freshened up if she got it cut (and maybe some bangs). I think the quote is amazing, i never heard it before now. I hope her life gets better.

  14. HEB says:

She’s in the midst of a spaced out breakdown…I dont think she’ll do anything as outrageous as Britney, but I wouldn’t be suprised if she pulls a major drug overdose or drives drunk again.

  15. MomInNH says:

She looks so much better with her hair more towards her natural color.

  16. geronimo says:

Thanks GG, so many great ones there. Still love the “I don’t want to make money, I just want to be wonderful.” *Sigh*

Trust self-absorbed Lindsay to choose the least appropriate (for her) and most cloyingly sentimental quote. 🙄

  17. Zoe (The Other One) says:

I dislike the assumption that getting a tattoo is the foreshadowing of having a breakdown. I’m covered in them and none of mine have led to a mental breakdown.

  18. BLA says:

At least shaving her head would unhook her from those terribly fake extensions. I can’t believe she thinks those are necessary, because they really look quite tragic. I’d much rather see her real hair.

  19. Tia C says:

I don’t have any tattoos (commitment issues LOL) but like others on here, I really don’t see the link between getting a tattoo and having a mental breakdown. If she shaves her head, I’ll sit up and take notice, though!

  20. gg says:

I agree – I love the red hair and she needs a new ‘do. Also needs to stop the fake-tan and the falsely-drawn-in eyebrows. Looks like she rubbed Georgia red clay dirt on her face.

  21. leigh says:

my first thought when i read this was that maybe it was a way of blending the star on her hand that she got done with ronson? but i’m pretty sure that star was red, so maybe i’m reaching. but i figure, taking a tattoo you got with an ex and turning it into something personal and perhaps positive would be a good thing to do after a break-up.

don’t get me wrong, i’m sure she’s still hitting the powder and i won’t be all too surprised if we have another vehicular tantrum, but i don’t actually think she’s in britney territory. at least not yet…
