Amal Clooney in Giambattista Valli at ‘Hail Caesar’ premiere: lovely or twee?

wenn23440436

Last year, the Coen Brothers decided to make a big film set within the golden age of Hollywood. The film is Hail Caesar, and it looks amazing. The film stars Josh Brolin, Scarlett Johansson, Jonah Hill, Ralph Fiennes, Channing Tatum and… George Clooney. While ScarJo and Ralph couldn’t be bothered to come to last night’s LA premiere, George decided to go full-on Hollywood Glam by bringing his wife Amal.

I think George looks okay here – there were a lot of photos of him last year where he looked like he was in a lot of back pain. In these photos, he’s standing up straight and managing to not grimace. That mock turtleneck though… no bueno.

As for Amal, her dress is Giambattista Valli. I’m not trying to create another styling flame war, but I don’t think this is the right dress for Amal or for this premiere. This would have been a great opportunity for a bit of theme-dressing and Amal really could have gone old-Hollywood with a spectacular vintage look, or something new and vintage-inspired. These Valli number looks… twee. I think the length is really throwing me off. If the skirt had been knee-length or longer, this might have looked more sophisticated, but with the skirt this short… I don’t know, I’m just not feeling it. I like that she changed up her styling a bit though – it’s nice to see a different hairstyle and I like the pop of that dark red lipstick (which matches the dress exactly).

This is not the first time Amal has worn Giambattista Valli – this dress reminds me a lot of the too-short Valli dress Amal wore in Venice just after her wedding. Also: I just realized that Amal’s dress is Valentine’s Day-themed.

I think she looks great. Her style is very twee, but she pulls it off. Old Hollywood glam would have been too predictable. I would change the shoes.
How is the dress Valentine’s day themed?

Turtlenecks look bad on everyone, George included.

    • ell says:

“Turtlenecks look bad on everyone, George included.”

      yup.

    • nicole says:

I like it too. Super cute even if twee. She couldn’t have gone old school glam when she’s with a dude in a turtleneck.

    • GlimmerBunny says:

She looks AMAZING in my opinion. The styling, the dress – everything. I like that she didn’t dress for a theme.

      • Yup says:

The dress is pretty but it would be more flattering if it was a bit longer. Also, wrong shoe choice.

      • Mxemm says:

Yeah I love the dress too and I think she pulls it off. It’s pretty clear her sense of style veers toward the twee end of the spectrum – and that’s fine! I rather enjoy seeing someone who has fun with their clothes.

    • Kris says:

I actually kinda love the dress, much much better than anything we’ve seen her in before. I just can’t stand to look at her legs – they are ridiculous. I know, some women are “naturally” thin, but I really feel sorry for her. These are match sticks, it surprises me that she can stand on them.

Oh well, as long as she likes them, it’s okay to show them off, of course.

      • snakecharmer says:

        5″ inner thigh gap

      • DrM says:

As someone who works in health research can I just further clarify the ”naturally slim” ideology? Yes some women are naturally slim, not many given the diet (and by that I mean the kinds of food not lack of) environment we live in and that number gets even lower past 40. The level of ”slim” that Amal is at is not natural. IS NOT. It involves a level of calorie restriction that is healthy for no one. The dress, hair, makeup doesn’t matter when someone is at such a light weight. Many, many women severely restrict their calories, not because they have an eating disorder per se but because that, in their minds is what society dictates as being acceptable for women. That is disordered eating. And it has long term consequences on bone, brain, organ, skin etc etc health. And THAT is what matters.

      • Kris says:

Well, I’m giving her the benfit of the doubt here. But I do believe you are right, DrM. I just don’t get why – she looks terrible. I keep imagining her hipbones under there.

I have yet to meet a man who actually prefers women to be skin and bones. Well, they all say he likes her for her brain…

    • Marine says:

I love that she has fun with her fashion…she’s allowed to dress fun and funky when she goes out because she has to dress professionally for work. I personally know many lawyers and political people who have very responsible positions but they LOVE drinking, having fun, going out so its not fair to say because she’s a barrister, she can’t enjoy her life outside of work. People are not one dimensional, guys!

      • Jib says:

I think my issue with her almost flashing the Good China numerous times is that as an intelligent woman, she should know what that looks like. It’s like Hillary Clinton or my woman Senator, Kirsten Gillibrand, showing up in a mini-skirt in which their crotch almost shows, and then expecting to be taken seriously. As a professional woman, once I hit thirty or so, I was careful to at least not be vulgar and some of her choices have been vulgar, like the dress her wedding week. When you almost flash the world, you have gone beyond “fun” territory into vulgar territory. I would criticize this length on anyone over 25.

  2. PunkyMomma says:

It’s just too short – more appropriate for Swifty.

    • Forthelasttime says:

Embarrassing for a Barrister. Shame. And frankly, she looks like a drag queen.

    • Lauren II says:

      George looks bored again.
Is that why Amal is starving herself and wearing toddler dresses?

    • Snappyfish says:

Exactly. Inappropriate for her age & her profession. She looks good but she looks as if she is trying to pull off 25.

    • Organic crisps says:

She rarely looks good and is always sitting on that border into looking like drag queen. She looks best in smart suits and videos better than she photographs. I think her problem is she loves to push the envelop and thinks she’s much more fashion-forward than she really is.

I know no one cares but I can’t warm to her. Smug beyond belief even though thinking you’re the elite of the elite because you did law is very outdated. If you want to be so elitist, at least get it “right”: the “best” grads these days might do a law degree but they work in consulting, finance, or tech these days. She and George are both kind of old-fashioned and daggy in every sense of the word. Wouldn’t have a problem with them if they didn’t suddenly appoint themselves King and Queen of Very Important Causes.

  3. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

She looks ridiculous. And the way she’s standing, with her knees turned inward? Why doesn’t she just suck her thumb? Lol, I like her, but this is awful. I have a two year old grand neice who might like it, though.

    • Kate says:

She has a broad upper body and narrow hips, that’s probably just her natural standing position.

I’m the same. Narrow hips, so my legs go inwards, but I naturally spread my feet a bit to balance my wider upper body (especially in heels). End result is that knees turned inward position.

    • Santia says:

+1000. This is just fugly; not the dress – her styling. And she doesn’t have the legs for something like this. Talk about mutton dressed as lamb.

    • Emma - The JP Lover says:

@GoodNamesAllTaken, who wrote: “She looks ridiculous. And the way she’s standing, with her knees turned inward? Why doesn’t she just suck her thumb?”

She always stands that way when she wears any dress or pants that show any part of her legs. She has learned to stand that way to deflect from her supper thin frame. She also moves her arms in weird positions for the same reasons. I don’t have a problem with her being supper skinny, I just have a problem with the way–to me–she really doesn’t own it. Own it, Amal … George, and loads of people, love you for who you are. 🙂

      • GoOnGirl says:

Why doesn’t anyone comment on how skinny she is and how much weight she’s lost since her marriage to George?

      • Kitten says:

You’re kidding right? 70% of the comments here mention her weight.

      • Emma - The JP Lover says:

@Kitten, who wrote: “You’re kidding right? 70% of the comments here mention her weight.”

Perhaps 70% of the comments in ‘this’ thread mention her weight, but this is a rare event. The fact is that Amal’s weight is hardly ever mentioned.

      • Amelie says:

” The fact is that Amal’s weight is hardly ever mentioned.”

I remember Amal’s weight being discussed in numerous media pieces. In fact, there was mention that George had hired a nutritionist/cook due to his concern about her ‘eating.’

    • littlemissnaughty says:

Honestly, I can’t decide whether I like it or not. I’m in love with the lipstick shade, that’s a perfect red. I love the colors on her and I think it isn’t the dress so much as her posture that’s throwing me off. Like you said, she looks like a child standing like that. I would think that a dress like this on a woman like her needs ruthless posture control. Stand straight, don’t let your arms and shoulders move back and for god’s sake, do not let your knees do THIS. Also, it’s February. That looks like a Spring dress.

      • Fa says:

Because she is trying to correct her posture as she doesnt have good posture normally so she is twisting too hard her arms & back

    • Patricia says:

Ridiculous is the exact word that popped into my mind, too!

    • JH says:

Omg, I couldn’t have said it better myself. I just laughed so hard I think I woke my baby!

    • Miss M says:

Thank goodness, i am not the only one who thought she looks ridiculous and I like her.

      • I like her too, but I think she just looks so much better when she dresses in a more sophisticated manner. She has a dark, sultry type of beauty, and this ice skating costume just looks off on her.

    • Crumpet says:

She looks like she might be slightly pidgin toed, and in the midst of taking a step inward. I don’t think she is deliberately taking a pose there.

    • Pandy says:

She does look ridiculous. She’s too old for this style. It’s just not working on her.

    • Lahdidahbaby says:

I’m with GNAT on this one: the length combined with the super-fullness look feckin ridiculous on her. Too bad, because otherwise she looks beautiful – much better than usual. Great hair and make-up, and the bodice of the dress looks gorgeous. But that short, full skirt looks horrible on her, and honestly, it just seems as if she is infantilizing herself when she dresses that way. Pacifier, anyone?

      • Nikki says:

Yes, agree. The childishly waifish pose is super cringeworthy for an adult woman. Instead of “Look at me, I’m Sandra Dee”, she’s “See me twirl, I’m a little girl!”

    • Sandy says:

I agree with the sucking thumb comment. Many of her outfits look appropriate for a child, but not a grown woman. Too much embellishment, too many frills!

    • mee says:

agreed. she needs to eat something and realize she’s not 12 years old anymore.

  4. Kate says:

I like it. I think a full on old school Hollywood glamour gown would have been overkill for a premiere.

I love her hair like that.

  5. zainab says:

I wish she’d take a cue from Queen Rania or Princess Mary. Both beautiful and accomplished women who married and became very famous. They dress wonderfully well, look fab but don’t scream “look at me” with every hemline.

    • Kate says:

They’re essentially public servants though. They have a workplace dress code. If Mary for example had married a Hollywood actor and not a prince, her pre-courtship style suggests she’d be dressing very differently.

      • Jib says:

Well, then, she can look to Maxima for a style icon. Always appropriate, but often wacky and fun. She could do much worse than dress similarly to Maxima!!!

  6. Tiffany27 says:

    Hail Caesar looks terrible.

    • emmet says:

It looks like another bomb for GC

      • nicole says:

I saw a clip of it where Josh Brolin smacks him around, and frankly his acting is cringeworthy, he is really a terrible actor, and his charm is gone.

      • The Original G says:

Yes. Who is this film for? Another bomb for Clooney I think.

    • Ankhel says:

I think HC looks gloriously funny. It’s a comedy which pokes fun at Old Hollywood, and has a truly stellar cast and spectacular sets. Clooney plays a braindead charmer who is immensely full of himself – his acting is bad on purpose. I’m definitely seeing this!

      • SusanneToo says:

Looks good to me too and covers a HW era I’m interested in. I’ll be in the audience.

      • Sarah says:

Scarlett Johansson, Jonah Hill, and Channing Tatum being casted ruined this for me. Primarily Channing and Scarlett, but Jonah isn’t quite ready for a Coen Bros. film.

  7. ell says:

    she looks ridiculous.

    • PinaColada says:

I think she looks really old! Usually I don’t think that. I think she’s pretty. But the outfit might be having the opposite effect and making her sick out like a sore thumb. Like, she looks completely out of place in that dress and it emphasizes her age.

  8. Astrid says:

My first thought when I saw the header pic was that this is the same photo/dress she wore at her wedding. Nah, its twee and too short and the shoes aren’t right. Bad choices

    • What's inside says:

I did too and you are right on with the rest.

    • Prairiegirl says:

I too thought it was a wedding week dress…

    • Lahdidahbaby says:

Me, too. And I found its length embarrassing on her, too, but only because the skirt is too damn FULL to be worn with such long, tiny, skinny legs. And I know this because I have that kind of legs. I would NEVER wear a super-bouffant miniskirt! A straight or A-line slightly longer mini, sure – I wear those all the time. But it’s the extreme fullness of this extremely-short skirt that makes it look ridiculous with those pins.

  9. CidySmiley says:

I don’t know if it’s the dress or what but she looks so bony. Perhaps it’s because the skirt is too full? It’s a cute dress! If I was in better shape I’d wear it!

    • Emma - The JP Lover says:

LOL! No, it’s because she ‘is’ so bony. But she looks great.

    • Josephine says:

I think the skirt is very unflattering. Her legs are very, very thin and the dress just highlights that. The top part of the dress is fine, but I think it would have looked nicer at a tea length or maybe just right at the knee.

      • Lahdidahbaby says:

Or if the bottom of the dress were a pencil skirt. With that bodice, a pencil skirt instead of this bouffant one would have made a beautiful dress for her, and even that short length would have been fine then. But a skirt THAT bouffant and short on legs THAT bony and tiny is just NO.

  10. India says:

This reminds me of that dress she wore after her wedding. I agree that it’s not a good look for her. Knees too boney. Pretty dress though.

  11. SusanneToo says:

A bit too short and too youngish IMO. Knee length and possibly cap sleeves would improve it. Hair is nice.

    • crtb says:

I have no idea what twee means. It is a beautiful dress but way too short. It would have looked elegant had it come to her knees. I find that you often picks clothes that are too cutesy or ingénue looking. I agree with whomever said above that this looks like something Taylor Swift would wear. Then length of this dress draws attention to how painfully thin she looks.

      • Mrs Dragon says:

        Here you go!
twee: excessively or affectedly quaint, pretty, or sentimental, bijou, dainty
        twee fashion: sweet, sensitive, child-like,whimsical

        I think ‘child-like’ sums it up 😛

  12. Mgsota says:

I love the dress and her styling but it’s too short!! She would have killed it if the dress was a bit longer.

  13. Tina says:

She’s a 38 year old professional woman. I think this is far too young for her and looks really silly. If it had been knee length, it might have been okay.

  14. Imqrious2 says:

Twee is being kind. I’m not saying you have to give up minis at a certain age, but c’mon… While it’d be a pretty dress on a young starlet, it doesn’t do Amal any favors IMO.

I’m seriously concerned about how thin she’s become since marriage; if her legs photograph like twigs, can you imagine how thin she looks in person? That can’t be healthy!

  15. Margo S. says:

I’m getting sick of this amal. Her legs are waaaay to skinny for a dress that short. Plus an intense A-line like that is better suited for someone with more curves. I’d like to see her out with a more subdued lip. The red lip is not flattering… not a fan.

    • dAsh says:

Lol. Didn’t you know she gets a free pass of being ‘skinny’ , ‘unhealthy’, ‘hungry’ and no ‘weight problem’ just because she’s supposed to be the greatest and the most fashionable lawyer in the universe.

  16. Yummymummy says:

Yes it’s bad. Shoes don’t go with the dress. The short full skirt would be better on a younger star.

  17. simplysaid says:

She just needs a Hello Kitty handbag to finish the outfit. 🙂

  18. Zaytabogota says:

She dresses like a twelve year old, she looks silly here. Why is she posing on her own? She’s not the star, it’s her job to support her husband at these premieres, not overshadow him with posing. At least you didn’t put up any photos where she was overposing, there are some very strange looking ones on the daily mail website.

They have no chemistry but love selling their relationship, it looks like a beard contract, which is fine but I don’t understand why George felt the need to do that. It’s ruined his credibility.

    • zainab says:

This proves what many people have been saying. Amal wants to be a celebrity. It’s the reason she doesn’t get the same respect that other professional women do.

      • Zaytabogota says:

Yes, if she hadn’t had a huge publicity campaign to sell her pre marriage, including posing for magazines in her dressing gown (!!!) there never would have been any media attention in the first place. Everything they’ve done has been to sell her to a confused public who’ve no idea why we need to know her.

As a barrister, she would have a lot of respect had she kept out of the public gaze, supporting him at events in a classy, understated manner that other non celebrity spouses do. Instead she wants all the attention and her pr has oversold her to the most ridiculous degree. Not to mention offended all his exes by insinuating that they were stupid, insulting all women by claiming Amal the only one with a brain and his colleagues and their spouses by presenting her as better then them. It’s perplexing to see such a self defeating promotion and celebrity obsession from someone who’s supposedly above it. Most sites only put her picture up now for the negative comments that follow.

      • SOCHAN says:

I’m tired of hearing what a victim she is because people criticize her and don’t like her. I’m tired of hearing that women who criticize her are bad feminists and not supportive of women. I’m tired of hearing that people who criticize her are anti-Muslim or anti-Arab. I’m tired of hearing that people who criticize her are “jealous” or “bitter” or “haters”. I’m tired of hearing people accused of “body-shaming” by pointing out the truth that she is woefully, dangerously under-weight and that she does it for no other reason than that she loves the wealth, lavish lifestyle, and designer clothes she now has falling in her lap. Amal is not liked for this reason only: because some of us know a phony when we see one.

      • Karen says:

These beard relationships are obvious and tiresome. George and Amal, Bradley Cooper and whatever model, Kanye and Kim. It is very sad to lead such secretive lives. They aren’t even good at acting in love. People do know and have less respect for them then if they said they were gay.

Amal’s dress would look great on Taylor Swift-a woman 13 years younger.

      • siri says:

@SOCHAN: Wonderful summary. People seem to like to fool themselves sometimes, and this is one of those occassions. Thinking of all the hard-working, socially conscious women I know, it makes me furious to see that a lot of people still think Amal is one of them. No, she’s not, she has been a spoiled child, and continues to be spoiled by sugar daddy Clooney. And he gets an image of seriosity in return, the loving&caring husband. Sure, she studied, but so did many. That’s all, there isn’t more to it, but they create a role model with their exaggerated PR that’s just as phony as Amal is. On red carpets, she can’t even hide her exitement of wearing those prom princess dresses. A lot of preparation went into this current look, and that’s her main focus.

    • Jayna says:

She probably posed on her own because the paps were asking to get a shot of her.

There’s a lot of yelling from the photographers lined up asking for this and that. I watched a video once with the sound of what the celebs are going through as they move down the line posing for the photogs on the red carpet, and it is nerve-wracking with all the yelling, look over here, over here, I think George probably stepped away for some photos with other cast members on the red carpet line.

      • DeliDelish says:

That’s the point when partners of Hollywoodees who aren’t industry themselves have the good taste to step back. From photos on other sites it looks like Amal went into full on I’m the Stah mode and posed up a storm.

The dress looks silly on her but the real ridiculous is how thirsty she is.

      • noway says:

@DeliDelish +100000. So what if the paps were yelling at her, it is not her premiere and yet she poses ALOT at his premiere. There are more pictures of her than George and that is truly ridiculous for his movie premiere. Tell me at anyone else’s premiere where the non acting spouse poses like she did. Jenna Dewan Tatum was there and posed a bit alone, but she is an actress and still they had less pictures of her alone than Amal. I almost think they want to be higher class Kardashian’s if there is such a thing.

      • Sarah says:

@noway I still think there’s going to be a Keeping up with the Kloodashians show on in the future. Mark my words.

    • nicole says:

Its his biggest contract ever, this one must be costing him millions, hope someone reveals the truth about it, he’s a creep.

    • Organic crisps says:

I agree. She’s just so thirsty for it all. It’s bizarre and embarrassing to watch.

    • Malak says:

I often read about this ‘beard’ thing. Is the relationship not real? How can one tell?

  19. Kaye says:

Her teeth look different to me . . . or something about her face?

  20. Dana says:

It looks stupid on her way too short wrong shoes and the styling is not right for the outfit. You would think it was her movie. She needs to put on some weight and cover those legs up. Amal has no idea what is apropriate or how to behave on a red carpet. She posed like a two year old. George looks more like her father. Those two always seem off somehow.

  21. Tig says:

Her legs in the full on shot look like twigs! Yet the side view they look fine-so hope it’s the latter. I like the dress, but agree more length would have helped it. As far as sleeves- at 38, wear all the sleeveless looks you want to. Because some point-like where I am- you don’t want to!

  22. CornyBlue says:

The dress that Amal is wearing is the kind of dresses JLaw should be wearing to events. Ugh to dream about a world without that horrible Dior contract. But Amal looks absolutely lovely though i think the lips are a bit of an overkill. Maybe if the makeup was nuder..

  23. Grace says:

Amal and Clooney seem very in love on this pics

    • Citresse says:

Interesting how I picked up the opposite. You see the second photo down where Amal leans in tight against Clooney and we see Clooney’s closed, toothless smile. It isn’t a good sign.

      • Jayna says:

You see what you want to see because you don’t like them. Any of us can go to a posed red carpet event photo and depending on if we like the couple or not spin the body language from a quick pose to fit our view of them or say they are too affectionate and not believable, yet a couple someone likes, oh, they are so in love.

      • Citresse says:

        Jayna
I never stated I like them as a couple or not. I really don’t care about them one way or the other as a couple/or as individuals. George seemed to be head over heels like Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah’s couch and you saw what happened there.
We know George’s history with women. A divorce from Amal would disappoint their family and friends but not surprise.

      • Karen says:

She is 38 years old. He is in his 50’s. Clock ticking on baby and beard contract. A baby would put her in a more credible position to her audience and down the road for divorce settlement.

  24. Citresse says:

The dress is made for a 22 yr old.
I’m detecting something wrong between Amal and George. I don’t know, perhaps George is annoyed by a photographer, but my first feeling is something is going wrong in the relationship and it’s one sided; meaning George wants to move on (again).
On the positive side; George looks good here. Clear skin, eyes, he is taking care of himself.

    • Christin says:

Hard to say, but it will be interesting to watch. It’s been a long time since he’s been with the same woman more than 2 years.

      • nicole says:

I was thinking the same thing, usually after eighteen months the enthusiasm starts t o go, looking at these pictures, he’s right on track, he looks bored as hell.

      • Organic crisps says:

And marrying a high-profile human rights lawyer hasn’t had the image-propping effect he obviously wanted. But maybe it’s just his back problems playing up.

    • siri says:

I sense something similar. They haven’t been seen together for quite a while, her being mainly in the UK, him obviously in the States. And I also didn’t see him with the Gerbers for quite some time. Perhaps we’ll get a pap walk to Asanebo’s in LA soon. However, George doesn’t put that much effort into the show anymore, it seems. And she just flew in one day before this premiere. Maybe they just cool the PR down, but George looks as if he already is looking for a way out. It’s just a feeling, I’m not clairvoyant;-)

  25. Catelina says:

Love her hair, hate her shoes. I’m mixed on the dress. I think the way the flowers are laid is quite pretty and I think it is flattering on her waistline but it is too short and flouncy- looks sorta like some kind of flower girl dress.

  26. Sarah01 says:

She looks beautiful, love her shoes. George looks really old and the turtleneck is a big NO.

  27. Jayna says:

If that dress would have been longer and fitted straight down, it would have been killer on her with her slender figure and height. The long lines on a dress like that would have been much more flattering and sophisticated.

Too short and flouncy. It is a very pretty dress, just not for her. She has a great shape to her legs, but they are too thin and from a front shot, it shows.

I don’t like her hair. I prefer it down in all its glory.

Overall, she looks nice, but she could have stunned on the red carpet had she done it right.

  28. HK9 says:

The dress is beautiful but it’s too short on her.

  29. Mrs Dragon says:

    The lipstick shade is gorgeous.
But how come her legs are so thin? I am not body-shaming her but her thighs and lower legs are nearly identical!! How is that even possible?!
In the facial close ups she looks so tired. She is such a pretty woman and educated, I hope she is not starving herself to play up to the paparazzi.

  30. Emma - The JP Lover says:

I don’t recognize many of the Monikers posting today, but I would invite you to post on threads where the majority here post that it doesn’t matter what age a woman is if what she wears looks good and she looks good wearing it. Amal is a decade younger than several actresses who show off their legs and their girls regularly, but don’t get the ‘age’ card cast their way.

    • noway says:

Some people just think that you shouldn’t wear it too short when you are older and they are entitled to that opinion, but I don’t think it is always about chronological age. Tina Turner used to wear short dresses and she looked great. To me this may look fine on other celebrities, but with Amal’s long and thin legs she look like a baby giraffe learning to walk. The dress accentuates how bony her legs are and her bad posture, which I never realized happens for her from the knees up either. It just isn’t flattering to me. Also, the style of the dress is my tween daughter, which no grown woman should wear. It’s like going out in a onesie, come on. Now I think I might have liked the dress if it was a bit longer, but not entirely sure as I think the bell skirt would look a bit too big that way too.

  31. It'sJustBlanche says:

The dress itself is fine, and the color is beautiful on her but it’s so short that when combined with the fullness of the skirt, it looks far too girlish on a grown woman. On someone a little shorter, or with a longer skirt, it would’ve been fine.

  32. Kitten says:

I can’t believe she’s only a year older than me….I always think of her as being in her early-forties.
Dress is pretty but needs to be longer I think.

  33. dAsh says:

I thought it was the same dress she wore when they had the Keeping up with the Kloons wedding spectacle. Lol. She likes her dresses low and close to her coochie.

How old is she? I know she’s supposed to be younger than him? But in this pic, they look about close age.

  34. M.A.F. says:

I’m in the same age box as her and frankly, she is the wrong age for that dress. If the dress was longer, sure but since it is short, the dress would be more fitting on someone in their late teen/early 20’s.

  35. Please get the message to Amal–she needs a stylist! This is very stiff, awkward, mannish looking, from the pigeon toes, knock knees, skinny man legs, narrow hips, broad shoulders pulled back stiffly, big ears sticking out of a too pulled bob hairdo. I’m not putting her down, the dress is, all she needs is a lollipop to look completely drag.

  36. Pants says:

I just love George Clooney. Sorry not sorry. He definitely looks like he’s feeling better than that phase in 2015.

    • Sue says:

I believe George looks better because he either gained weight or he has botox and fillers in his face. Maybe that’s why he can’t smile – the botox. He figured if Brad Pitt can do it, why not me?

  37. prissa says:

I LOVE this dress!!!! But I’m with everyone else who says it could’ve been longer. And I don’t really like the pairing with the silver shoe. I love her red lip though. They both look great!

  38. spidey says:

Age inappropriate. Would look ok on someone 20 years younger with a little more meat on their bones.

  39. hmmm says:

I swear, this woman acts like a damned teenager though she’s pushing 40. . And her legs are skeletal. Just ugly all over.

I do love the dress. If only I were 19 again.

  40. Montréalaise says:

The dress is beautiful, but it’s all wrong for her – wrong for her body type, her bone structure, her age and her position in life (she’s a lawyer in her late thirties, yet she dresses like a 22-year-old starlet). It would look fabulous on someone who was shorter and really cute; all it does for Amal is underline how skinny she is and actually makes her look older.

  41. Susan says:

I find it utterly strange that Amal Clooney poses alone on red carpets. She is the only non-shiwbiz spouse I’ve seen to do that. You don’t see Matt Damon’s wife or any of the other similar wives posing alone. Even if it’s what the photographers wanted, if I was in her place, I would demur and stand to the side and let my spouse have the credit on his own opening night.

    • claire says:

I highly doubt she’s running out there ‘look at me.’ The photographers are shouting at these people the whole time, ‘look here!’ etc. I’m sure they’re asking for these shots and she is going along with it. She’s tall beautiful and wears pretty clothes. She is in the news on her own. Matt Damon’s wife is shyer and has no public persona outside of being Matt’s wife.

      • Susan says:

I acknowledged that in my original post, didn’t I? I never assumed that she was running out there. But like I said, it’s really telling about her thirst that she just doesn’t demur and stand to the side.

    • nicole says:

Susan, thats why she married him, for the fame, no other reason.

      • Organic crisps says:

Yes the photographers are calling out to her but as if she didn’t spend the entire day previous to this practising her poses! I read Amal articles obsessively to see if she’d become more PR savvy but no, still the same obvious dripping saliva thirst for the paps.

  42. Carmen says:

That dress should not be worn by any female over fourteen, and on her it looks doubly ridiculous because all it does is emphasize her pipe stem legs,

  43. someone says:

Im sorry, its a really a cute dress for a teenager!!!

  44. Fa says:

I’m not a celebrity & she is doing this, woman is time to decide whichever you are because by now no one believes you PR lies

  45. A says:

Tall women just don’t look good in cutesy dresses.
Sexy, elegant, glamorous, and sophisticated? Yes.
    Twee, pretty, cutesy? No.

  46. Paisley says:

She looks like a grown woman playing dress up. I do like her hair, though.

  47. Breakfast Margaritas says:

I like the dress but it needs to be knee length. They would have some beautiful kids if those choose too. They both have dark dramatic features. Hope Georges little swimmers are working…if that’s what amal wants.

  48. Jaded says:

Bad length – makes her legs look like Q-tips.

  49. Breakfast Margaritas says:

Maybe she feels all buttoned up in her work wardrobe and uses these events to dress with a bit more whimsy? It’s cool but the short short hemlines don’t do her long legs any favors. She is a beautiful woman though.

  50. claire says:

Not sure how I feel about it. She looks beautiful though it is slightly twee. I don’t think she has the legs to pull off dresses this short.

  51. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

Liked the dress until I scrolled further and the dress abruptly ended. Considering the fullness & flare, I think the length looks odd.

  52. Shan says:

She looks too old to be wearing that dress. Her legs look too thin in my opinion. Please Amal wear something a stylist chooses for you. You are not good at everything. Outsource to someone who is an expert. Someone that will put you in a longer version of this dress if you insist on wearing it. Her makeup is spot on gorgeous though.

  53. benchwarmer says:

The length of the dress is throwing me off too, but I like the overall look of the dress and how it goes with the lipstick. I think she looks amazing and so does he. Her body is ridiculous, so toned and she’s so lucky to be that tall.

  54. manta says:

“While ScarJo and Ralph couldn’t be bothered to come to last night’s LA premiere,”

Well? I don’t know about Fiennes but Johansson is in NZ right now. I’m pretty sure I spotted some pictures of her on set, the shooting of her new film has just begun. The way it’s phrased you’d think she just decided to stay on her couch, too lazy to fulfill a professional duty. Weird.

  55. Jayna says:

I just have to say how beautiful Jenna Dewan was at the premiere. Her makeup and hair were perfection on an already beautiful face.

  56. Jayna says:

I think Amal has lost more weight. Her legs were shapelier back last summer.

  57. AntiBeiber says:

Now wouldn’t you think someone would have told her there are two threads hanging from the hem of her dress …? Oh wait, ooops, sorry … those are legs apparently.

  58. Holmes says:

Agree that it would look much better knee-length. Then again, if I had those legs, I’d be in minis 24/7. I appear to be alone in thinking she has great legs, but I’d kill for legs that long and slim!

    • Susan says:

I think she *had* good legs, about a year or two ago. But now she has lost so much weight that they are too sinewy and sickly looking for my taste.

    • Jayna says:

She had great legs when she has some weight on her. She ‘s so tall and slim already that when she loses more pounds, then her legs go from nicely-shaped slender legs to bony looking.

    • SOCHAN says:

SMH. I can’t understand any living soul thinking those are “killer legs”. That woman is woefully, tragically under-weight. And she’s TALL. To be that tall and that thin …. there’s no fooling me. She’s not eating. She probably takes bites of things and drinks a lot of wine. Her face is sadly gaunt; makeup helps brighten her up and make her look refreshed. But she isn’t.

      • siri says:

I think the same. If that was a member of my family, I would be worried. Her skin is not that great, her eyes are sad somehow, she looks tired under those layers of makeup. There have been a couple of pics where she truly looks gaunt. I guess the deal is to show up for his premieres, and those flights are exhausting, even when you’re younger. But she wanted this lifestyle…

    • chelsea says:

If you had those legs and a family that loved you, I’d hope you’d be in the nearest available Eating Disorders Clinic.

      • SOCHAN says:

WORD! But society – including average women on the street – are STILL glorifying these women as sexy. Including comments about “amazing body”, “killer legs”, “a body to die for”, etc. Sickening.

      • siri says:

Exactly. If that was my sister, daughter or wife, I would be greatly worried.

  59. SOCHAN says:

I’ve reached the point of complete intolerance for her. The fake “girly” body language, the hair-touching, and the babydoll clothes are vomit-inducing. In Japan there’s an actual word for this kind of body language. It’s a word that means “girly” but the body language is deliberately exaggerated and it’s done by grown women with bows in their hair and very short dresses and babydoll voices. Basically, it’s what Amal Clooney is trying to look like. That whole stupid thing with her knees and her arms and her silly outfits. I just can’t anymore.

I’m totally going to have popcorn and a front row to the blogs when the split happens.

    • peri says:

      http://gph.is/1PTryUp

    • Malak says:

Interresting you mention ‘split.’ In the latest issue of one magazine here there’s an article about them, about him putting several properties on the market, about her spending a lot of his money on clothes ($50,000 on coats), they haven’t seen each other for 85 days, she prefers the UK, he is busy in the US, etc etc…….. Preparing to split. The usual gossip. There’s split gossip about the Pitts too.

  60. Penelope says:

She’s WAY too old for this cutesy, twee look. SMH.

  61. Gabby says:

It’s a lovely dress, but it belongs on a Kiernan Shipka or something. I think if the silhouette was different, it would be fine…she’s got amazing legs, it’s a beautiful dress, but that flared skirt reads a little too “girly” on a woman who usually tries to emphasize her professional gravitas

  62. Abby says:

Way too short for a professional grown woman. A little more length and it would have been very pretty on her.

    • Malak says:

A little more length and that dress would still be ‘not quite right,’ for her face, in my opinion.

  63. Jayna says:

Well, the movie looks like it will be fantastic from the movie trailer. When the Coen brothers are really on, they do great things. It will either be fantastic or a huge fail since it’s played as such a broad comedy.

  64. Tredd says:

    Bch EAT something. YIKES!

Is this pipe cleaner even FEMALE! Talk about death warmed over. How nice to listen to her bones crunch*crunch when he hugs her.

What a bougoise bch. George really DOES want his pal Brad Pitt’s ol’ lady, doesn’t he?

  65. Jenny says:

I don’t understand how a woman who is so starved she’s just skin and bones can still manage to look so thick-waisted? That dress is really unflattering on her. I like the dress but not on her. Also highlights her sickly-looking legs which makes me queasy to look at. Please eat Amal, please. You’re killing yourself.

Also agree about the turtleneck – looks awful on george. Makes him look really creepy which is a feat.

  66. Mrs. Darcy says:

I don’t want to rag on her for being thin, but I will say that the dress is only enhancing the slight-ness of her frame, making her look breakable. The voluminous short skirt is just swallowing her whole frame. I don’t think the prom dress style is flattering on her at all, and agree with whoever said it’s a bit young for her. I think (some) very slim women do tend to dress slightly young for their age, trying to preserve the gamine look as long as possible. There’s a way to transition it into something more elegant – Audrey Hepburn did it beautifully and always looked sophisticated.
