Alicia Vikander in custom Louis Vuitton at the BAFTAs: stunning or unflattering?

wenn23494809

Seeing Alicia Vikander in custom Louis Vuitton is, at this point, nothing new. I personally don’t think she’s the best fit with the brand, but LV has been trying to create some different and personalized looks for Vikander in the past few months, to mixed results. This LV gown which Vikander wore to last night’s BAFTAs was one of the best I’ve seen on her, and even then… I’m not completely in love with it. My first thought was actually “this would have looked amazing and appropriate on Rooney Mara.” The fabric is leather and the metal detailing is extraordinary… look at how it “expands” further down the gown, almost like a grouping of needles. It’s one of those gowns where I wonder how she sits down.

Something else bothering me: Michael Fassbender once again refused to walk the BAFTAs red carpet with Alicia. The jig is up, we all know they’re together and we don’t care if they want to hold hands as they do the BAFTA carpet. But instead, Fassy acted like his “date” was Kate Winslet. Fassy and Winslet posed together on the carpet while Alicia posed solo the whole time. I’m pissed off at Fassy on Vikander’s behalf! That sh-t’s just rude. Now, Alicia and Michael did sit beside each other inside the event (when they both lost), and Stephen Fry even gave them a moment to act coupled-up in front of the cameras, but the result was super-awkward, apparently. Fry did this “Kiss Cam” bit (since the BAFTAs fell on Valentine’s Day), and when Fassbender and Vikander were put on the Kiss Cam, he refused to participate. The whole thing was so awkward that it got cut from the BBC One (and BBC America) broadcast. What’s funny is that everyone else played along – even Leo DiCaprio gave Maggie Smith a big smooch!

As for Winslet’s dress, it’s Antonio Berardi and it’s kind of meh. I like that her hair is fluffy and down (she tends to veer too “severe” on red carpets), but the look as a whole is boringly efficient. Oh, and Winslet beat Vikander for Best Supporting Actress too.

Is that really Kate Winslet??? Why in the world would she use such drastic makeup? If you hadn’t labeled the picture, I wouldn’t have know who she was. I don’t think she’s done anything surgically. I just think her makeup is way too severe. Whoa!

    • Huh says:

What? Other than a red lip, what’s severe about her makeup? I’m genuinely asking.

      • arbelia says:

Same here, I don’t see how she has a drastic make-up , other than a bright red lipstick . And actually, apart from the lipstick , it actualy seemed pretty subdued make up. HEr make-up artist is Lisa Elridge by the way for LAncome She often posts pics and videos about her work on her.

      • lucy2 says:

I don’t love the dress, but her makeup looks normal to me.

      • Emma - The JP Lover says:

It’s the eyes, the makeup has given them a severe, ‘small’ look and the contour around her nose is off as well. Her face looks ‘tight,’ but I really do think it’s just the highlight-shading contour work, eye makeup (from the brow work to the eye shadow to the eye lining) and yes, red lip stick is all wrong on her.

I honestly wouldn’t have known who she was if the picture didn’t have a caption attached. Kate is usually someone who is instantly recognizable.

No shade intended, but are you all honestly saying that the second picture down looks like the Kate Winslet you’ve seen for years? She just looks ‘different’ to me.

    • Tandy says:

Huh? She looks the same as she always does on red carpets. Even that dress, while lovely on her, is just another version of the same dress she always wears.

    • alice says:

she’s doing botox and fillers the right way, without changing her features, completely, but just look at her picture in the Titanic days and she looks like a edgier, chiseled version of her old self. I just wish she would have the courage to change her narrative with her “I’m totally against botox and surgery and I’m just fabulous naturally” because everybody can how she’s doing it.

      • ichsi says:

She was 21 when they shot Titanic! I’m not denying that she got subtle work done (especially around the eyes) but women do get more chiseled when the baby fat disappears. It’s starting for me now too. Where were those cheekbones in my teens and early 20s when I needed them for my self esteem, hm?

      • Anne says:

I think she looks GORGEOUS in these pictures. BUt, I agree, she’s had quite a bit of work done since Titanic. A very well done nose, for one.

    • Miran says:

Im curious as to what is so severe about it too, the lipstick is bright but at least the rest of it is subtle.

    • Polly says:

She looks the same as always I don’t see anything severe about her makeup. I think she looks good, I prefer her hair like this rather than her usual up dos.

  2. Ollie says:

This Kiss Cam thing is so silly for a serious awards show

    • EM says:

No way – I loved Kiss Cam as a matter of fact I think we should incorporate it everywhere. What I wouldn’t give to see Kiss Cam at the next Republican debate – that would be awesome!

    • boredblond says:

Agree..always thought of the BAFTA’s as classy..kiss cam will always be cheesy..like something the golden globes would do..

  3. Senaber says:

Winslet got her man and her award?!? Gurlll….

  4. snusnud says:

He seems happier by Kate’s side than by Alicia’s side lol .Their relationship seems so “forced”.If you look at the pics of him and Nicole Beharie he seems so genuinely happy.God,I loved that couple.

    • Original T.C. says:

To me it seems like he walked the Redcarpet with Kate Winslet to continue selling their film, for Oscar voters and for greater “serious” exposure for Fassy. Kate Winslet is a very famous Bafta and Academy award winner with international attention. Look at how happy we was that Kate gave him a shout out during her BAFTA speech.

Posing with Alicia would have only made the gossip news as Fassy is still not very famous on his own and Alicia is an Indie darling but a newbie in the fame department. He doesn’t want to be a gossip column “hottie”, he wants to be known as a serious actor not a shallow moviestar.

I think if positions were reversed, the women on here will be calling Alicia a fame whore for posing with a famous movie actor over her newbie boyfriend but because Fassy is a desired man he gets a pass.

P.S. Fassy had the choice to continue his relationship with his previous ex Nicole Behaire but he left her after only one year. So I think that speaks volumes about how really “in love” he was despite their happy pictures, IMO.

      • lucy2 says:

I agree he’s trying to promote the film instead of his personal life. I don’t have an issue with it, or any celebrity couples who don’t want to do the red carpet together.

I like Nicole, forgot they were once a couple, I hope she gets some good opportunities when Sleepy Hollow is done.

      • Peach says:

        Good points, Original T.C. ITA.

      • TreadStyle says:

Agreed Original T.C. I saw that Kate’s husband was there but she didn’t pose with him either. So I didn’t think it was weird. You summed up everything else I thought as well.

    • CornyBlue says:

I doubt Alicia is holding a gun to his head forcing him to be with her. Or is like a 40 year old man not given the agency of his own choices ?

      • alice says:

this! just let’s stop the woman shaming here please, whatever it happens its’ always the guy that gets a pass and like they’re puppets in the hands of mean, unscrupulous famewh*res…I don’t like Alicia since her arrogant statements about being positive of getting Oscar attention, even if she knew it by then, a year before even the movies opened, she should have kept her mouth shout out of class and respect. But anyway, just please stop thinking that the guy are just there for the ride, literally, without having a choice.

      • SusanneToo says:

        @Cornyblue @alice. ++++++Yes!

  5. Luciana says:

Kate Winslet looks like a goddess. Alicia looks pretty too.

    • Emma - The JP Lover says:

But did you actually recognize Kate straight away through all that makeup?

      • SamiHami says:

I really don’t see what you’re seeing. Yeah, she’s wearing make up, of course, but it doesn’t seem that severe or drastic in the least.

    • GlimmerBunny says:

Yeah, Kate looked gorgeous! One of the best looks of the night and she was really cute with Leo.

I do feel a bit bad for Alicia (that Michael didn’t pose with her.)

    • Anne tommy says:

Kate looks gorgeous. Not keen on Alicia’s frock. The kiss cam stuff was funny, Bryan Cranston and Julianne Moore entered into the spirit of it big time! Stephen Fry was very mediocre, and totally outshone by Rebel Wilson’s funny intro.

    • Ethelreda says:

Yes, this is the best I’ve seen Kate look in ages. It’s not that the dress is so different from her usual choices, but it does seem to actually FIT her. At times, I feel uncomfortable just looking at her on the red carpet, spanxed and corsetted into dresses at least a size too small for her. And I love those loose curls – so much more flattering than the scraped back style she usually favours.

    • Luce says:

I agree completely! Kate was stunning, and I don’t get why everyone bags her with the “same version of dress” comments. She knows her figure and has found a silhouette that is flattering. She looks classic and beautiful here, and I love her hair down.

    • Carol says:

I loved both Alicia’s and Kate’s looks last night. My only complaint, and it a little one, is that I wish Alicia wore earrings that had just a hint of color. That’s probably not her style but it’s mine!

  6. Kasia says:

Alicia’s dress is interesting, but her makeup – not so much. She always opts for a “no-makeup” look. Her hair looks undone. She always looks mouse-y and greyish, as if she was a heavy smoker.

Update: I looked once again and maybe she had been crying?

    • Shambles says:

Maybe it was crying, maybe she’s a little stoned? That was my first thought, lmao. I would probably smoke to ease some red carpet anxiety.

Either way that dress is boss.

      • Wentworth Miller says:

I love Alicia’s dress. I don’t like the shoes. They look to clunky. The dress reminds me of the one Versace released with H&M.

    • ichsi says:

It’s funny you say grey-ish because I’d gone for a-little-too-much-orange but yeah, Alicia smokes. She’s done ballet and aside from discipline and control over your body’s movements it also teaches you how to smoke a pack a day.

As for the crying, yes her eyes are a little moist but you gotta remember that those flashlights she’s looking at are BLINDING. I’m always in awe how those people on the red carpet manage to keep their eyes open at all.

      • cd3 says:

I wondered if it was just simply cold, and combined with all the lights, it made her look that way. Eddie Redmayne’s wife and Dakota Johnson had a similar glassy eyed and red tipped nose look.

  7. Amelia says:

I LOVE that dress. She looks totally badass in it, although I’d quite like to see her with her hair up one of these days (although I admit it wouldn’t suit this dress.)
I reckon Alicia can do far better than Fassbender.

    • Esmom says:

I love it, too. Her hair and makeup don’t bother me, I think she looks perfect.

    • ichsi says:

Yeah, I always go on about how she would look so much better if they’d style her hair a little more but there’s some effort in this do and it works with the dress. Which I also like even though the shoes are terrible.

Kate is GORGEOUS. The dress is simple but it her body looks so freaking perfect in it, I don’t see any reason why she would pick anything else.

I agree with the posters who say kiss cams are creepy but since I don’t give a c rap about their relationship, I will sit over there and watch the conspiracy theories/defenses bloom on both sides. *gets-popcorn*

    • tracking says:

Yeah, I love it too, but I do think edgier hair would have looked even better. Agree with ichsi that Kate looks fabulous (if a bit uncomfortable in that skintight dress).

    • NUTBALLS says:

I agree. I thought she looked fantastic.

  8. ell says:

i don’t get why people are bothered by alicia and fassbender not walking the red carpet together. is it just because CB doesn’t like alicia? they don’t have to, not all celeb couples are comfortable with that level of attention early on in a relationship. they’re not hiding they’re together, they’ve just decided not to flaunt it, most likely because they want to be recognised for their work. i see nothing wrong with that (and they’re also not the only ones doing it).

as for alicia’s dress, i thought it looked very pretty, and i usually don’t like alicia’s lv stuff.

    kate winslet looked gorgeous.

ETA: they did well not to participate to the kiss cam, it was a stupid thing to do to a serious award, it would fit on the mtv movie awards, not the bafta.

    • Tulip Garden says:

      ^Alll of this!
I don’t even care for Fassbender or Alicia but I can’t blame them if they want to keep things more low-key with paparazzi and media interviewers swarming on the red carpet.
      Also, Winslet killed it, imo!

      • jinni says:

But she actually talks about him in every interview, so she obviously has no problem letting people know they are together. Plus when they first got together they made sure to be photographed in a very obvious photo op in NY. As well as many pictures of them being seen out and about in Australia. So in the beginning both of them were very game for putting the idea of them being a couple out there.

It looks like it is Michael that isn’t into the whole being public thing anymore and not her, since he never seems to acknowledge their relationship in anyway. Which is strange because with his previous girlfriends he never seemed to have a problem talking about them. He wasn’t overly open, giving every detail in interviews about past relationship, but he wouldn’t flat out refuse to talk about the woman in his life like he is now and I doubt this change is due to a new level of fame making him more protective of his personal life, since he isn’t anymore of a household name now than he was in the past.

      • ell says:

@jinni, i’m a fan of his work but admittedly i only read a bunch of his interviews, so i have no idea whether he talked about his previous relationships or not, he definitely didn’t in the interviews i read. that said, maybe the exposure they got at the beginning of their relationship put him off being too open about it. in every interview when he’s asked about alicia he’s always guarded, but gracious nonetheless.

also it bothers me people assume it’s him not wanting to be seen with her, it’s sexist to assume women are always the eager ones in relationships.

      • Tulip Garden says:

@Jinni, you obviously follow the pair more closely than I do. I still don’t see an issue with deciding to handle your p.r. differently depending on your partner and/or the evolution of your relationship. They may well regret their previous behaviors or could be on the way to a break-up. I’m not invested in them but, to me, this doesn’t mean much.

      • jinni says:

@ell and Tulip Garden: Maybe you guys are right. All I know is that if this is something they are both cool with then fine, but it’s making him look bad to some people that pay attention to them. Which can’t be good for his image so maybe they need to both be on the same ” no acknowledging the relationship in any form publicly” page, so that it looks like they both want privacy and not like she would like to be more open, but he’s being a dick about it.

      • Hannah says:

        @jinni
Michael has acknowledged the relationship. He talked about how proud he is of her in some interview.
There are also candid photos of them holding hands after the GG.
I dont think he’s very different from what he was before. The only thing I see as different is that his current girlfriend gets almost an equal amount of attention as he does or maybe more at the moment. Most of the other ones were not getting that kind of attention at least not for their work. I can’t even remember him bringing a girlfriend to events. It was mostly because we saw candid photos of him with his girlfriends. Hes always acknowledged when he had a serious girlfriend but he never really did the whole public relationship thing.
Also why are we assuming it’s just him that doesn’t want to be that public?

    • rosie says:

@ELL Great comment, I totally agree with everything you wrote. I think they are just a low key private couple and I applaud them for not shoving it in our faces.

    • cd3 says:

Yes, I fully agree with this. It’s making an issue out of nothing to focus on them not walking the carpet together.

  9. lilacflowers says:

The other “couples” caught on the “kiss-cam” were not real couples, at least not on the US version any way. They would have been the only ones who were an actual couple

    • ell says:

exactly. in fact, i think it was a bit low to point it on real couples who might not be comfortable with kissing in front of lots of strangers. i don’t hide my relationship with my boyfriend, but if i were asked to kiss on camera, i’d go purple and say no. and then try to hide somewhere because i’m shy and introverted.

    • I Choose Me says:

Exactly! If I were a celeb and anyone turned a kiss cam on me and my s.o. they wouldn’t see a steamy kiss but both of our middle fingers.

  10. Spiderpig says:

Meh, they looked and acted like a perfectly normal couple who aren’t into famewhoring their relationship. Obviously they planned ahead of time how they’d walk the red carpet.

    • Abigail says:

      This^^^

    • ell says:

this so much. celebs can’t win; when they flaunt their relationships like cumberbatch is for pr and attention, and when celebs are low key they get criticised as well.

      • Liv says:

I don’t know, I totally get that they didn’t walk the carpet together and want to stay out of the spotlight, but him acting like Chris Martin or DiCaprio is ridiculous and rude. Just joke around or give each other a kiss on the cheek. No big deal.

      • ell says:

@Liv chris martin was ridiculous because gwyneth was the mother of his children, which is so not the same thing. i don’t hold it against him for when they were just dating.

    • tracking says:

Yes, this is what I think.

  11. Locke Lamora says:

Full lenght leather dresses never look good ever. Which is too bad because the cut and pattern are nice and her hair and makeup are lovely .

    Kate’s dress is amazing.

Why do you thing Michael is the one refusing to walk with her? Maybe she doesn’t want to walk with him? Whatever it is, it’s their bussiness. It’s kinda nice that they don’t adoringly gaze at eachother like other annoying couples on red carpets.
    The kiss cam was awkward.

  12. Lahdidahbaby says:

Alicia’s dress looks like tire tread.

  13. D says:

I absolutely understand the refusal to kiss for the “kiss cam” , not everyone likes public displays of affection. My boyfriend and I got caught on the “kiss cam” at a hockey game, and we looked just as uncomfortable and awkward as them.

  14. littlemissnaughty says:

I can’t believe Winslet won. She’s a great actress and I enjoy her a lot on screen but it was a bad year when she is considered the best. The performance itself was fine but that accent … no. If it’s not spot-on, that’s not a huge deal, it was a tough accent to nail mainly because it’s not very pronounced. But it went in and out! I didn’t even realize it was supposed to be an accent until 20 minutes in. It was not her best performance nor the best one this year. Good gawd.

They do look pretty great though, both of them. Although Vikander is a lot more interesting to me style-wise. (The shoes are awful.)

    • lila fowler says:

Vikander’s Oscar performance was in a different category at BAFTA otherwise, Winslet would not have won. She has lost to Alicia every time her Danish Girl performance was in Supporting.

      • littlemissnaughty says:

I wasn’t comparing her to Vikander although she was fantastic in Ex Machina, I just mean in general this couldn’t have been the best performance of the year OR out of the nominees. Frankly, I wouldn’t have nominated her for anything this year. Not for Steve Jobs anyway.

      • nn says:

Alicia doesn’t belong in the best supporting category, I wish the oscars would focus on that but her and rooney are lucky that #oscarsowhite overshadowed their category fraud.
I hope Jennifer Jason Leigh wins.

    • CornyBlue says:

Her accent took me out of the movie and the movie itself was not something i even liked much. Considering they had a dude who looked nothing like Steve Jobs playing Steve Jobs, an accent would hardly be the thing people faulted the movie for.

    • Nic919 says:

Winslet was really not that good in Jobs. The accent was horrific and she really didn’t add much to the story. Outside of people upset with category fraud I don’t know why Vikander did not wn for her far superior performance in Danish Girl.

I don’t even know the other nominees in the category this year but I am sure they were all better than Winslet this year. She is almost like Meryl Streep in tha she gets nominated even if the acting isn’t that great.

  15. Tig says:

I loved this dress- to me, one of the best of the night. Re her and Fassy- meh. As a couple, how they choose to negotiate a red carpet is up to them. I like the styling of Kate’s gown. They showed a brief clip of Ex Machina last night- such an amazing performance by Alicia! Still think she gets the Oscar.

  16. Ally says:

Her dress looks like the rubber floor mats in my car were tied together to make a dress and they added some tinsel for decoration. LV has not been kind to her this awards season.

  17. PsychoCat says:

Why do I see tinsel at the bottom of that leather dress?

Also, has Kate had surgery? She speaks so vehemently and non-sympathetically against it, but I am pretty sure Nicole Kidman just has “good genes and keeps out of the sun” so I don’t believe any of them.

  18. arbelia says:

I liked Alicia’s dress .Maybe the best dress she wore since the beginning of the award season, and definitely better than those awful dresses LV made her wear 2 months ago . She was lovely but looked a bit off yesterday, like she had cried or something.
And really , Fassy look waaaaaayy more comfortable with Kate ( and with other previous costars by the way ) than he does with her. He always seems embarassed when asked about her, and their body langage is just … weird.
And it’s great to be discrete and private … but sorry his attitude just looks bizarre . If you look at pics of him with previous GF, he always seemed very comfortable and affectionate with them even at public events. And they were relationships that didnt last as long at this one!
I don’t know , i wouldn’t be surprised if we hear a break up annoucement soon.

  19. minxx says:

Is Alicia auditioning for Game of Thrones? I don’t get those leather dresses. They look super uncomfortable, heavy and just plain weird. Someone said her dress looks like tire tread and I have to agree.
Kate looks sensational, she really nailed it this time. And I love the interaction between her and Fassbender, they clearly adore each other and look super comfortable together.
this thing with Alicia is weird, kiss cam was so awkward.. I understand you may not want to do a real kiss but a peck on the cheek was too much? They look so awkward together!

    • Jenny says:

That was my thoughts exactly about the dress – Game of Thrones worthy.

I’m Swedish myself but I can’t stand Alicia for some reason so all the rest of it I won’t comment on since I’m so biased.

  20. lila fowler says:

I loved Alicia’s dress. Very bold. I think LV is a lot kinder to her than Dior is to Lawrence. Most of their choices for her this awards season have been great — her SAG dress is my fave of the season so far. But yeah, I could easily see Rooney Mara coveting the dress. Anything that’s black, really. LOL. She’s so boring.

  21. als says:

I hate to break this to Fassbender and Vikander but they are not famous enough to need to hide their relationship. As soon as they would make it official, a few people would be agitated then calm down.

Hiding your relationship when most people don’t really care for it speaks volumes about what these two think of themselves. Being a critical darling does not make you a superstar.

    • Ethelreda says:

I’m not sure what to make of their behaviour. On the one hand, as others have said, it’s really refreshing to see a couple who aren’t selling their relationship on every red carpet. On the other hand, I sort of agree with you. Outside of gossip blogs like this, does anyone really care if these two are together or not? Keep your private life private, by all means. But going out of your way to not be photographed together at an event you’re both attending smacks of Chris Martin-esque pretension a bit. So two hot, moderately famous people, neither of them involved with anyone else, are dating? Big deal.

      • ell says:

i’ve said it upthread, but what made chris martin’s behaviour ridiculous was that he and goop had been together for ages, she was the mother of his children, yet he categorically refused to be seen with her. it wasn’t a problem when he was behaving like this at the beginning of their relationship or before the children, it’s as the years went on that it got weird and not very nice of him either. if fassbender and alicia get married and have a baby and they still walk red carpets separately, then i’d agree.

so far it’s nothing that other celebs in the early stages of a relationship haven’t already done (and no 1 year isn’t a long relationship by any stretch of imagination, especially when you travel a lot so the time you spend together is limited). i remember when andrew garfield and emma stone were dating they posed together plenty of times, but if he were asked about the relationship he would throw a big strop at events. i much prefer people like fassbender, who keep it low key but are still gracious when asked, than people like garfield.

      • Ethelreda says:

I don’t really disagree with any of that. Like I say, I have mixed feelings about them.

I just kind of think that their behaviour draws more rather than less attention to their relationship. To repeat, neither of them is really that famous and there’s nothing scandalous about them being together. Outside of gossip blogs, nobody much cares about them and their relationship, so I’m not sure why they’re so scared of being photographed together once in a while.

But…. it’s their relationship and it’s up to them to do what suits them. Definitely better than advertising their relationship like a commodity, for sure.

    • CornyBlue says:

But they are not knocking on people’s doors and telling people they are not dating. When they are heavy handed into it they are not playing along. It does seem very simple.

  22. serena says:

For once I liked Leo. Yeah, he’s game for anything at this point but I loved when he smooched Maggie Smith (she’s so lovely!!)!

  23. Renee says:

Alicia’s dress does not flatter her tiny stature. Too heavy. I like Kate’s simple dress but her hair always looks awful. Bad dye job.

  24. Hannah says:

“What’s funny is that everyone else played along”
Yeah but they aren’t actual couples. Just odd and slightly comical pairings like Leo and Maggie smith, Cuba and some guy. It’s completely different, I actual think the BBC did that on purpose, why would they chose a couple who is known for keeping it private. It kind of looks to me like the BBC put them on the spot to get a scoop, which is kind of sensationalist for an awards show. It shouldn’t be about creating tabloid headlines.

    • SM says:

I don’t think that being or not being a real couple matters here. Just play along, you both are academy nominated actors. Act. Like every other couple that ever were in a movie together or had to promote amovie together. It just shows that they overthink their images and how they want to come across like such private people while at the same time Alicia is constantly name dropping him in interviews. It just makes people notice you more so it has a completely opposite effect. Plus they both are not superstars, people don’t really care about them and now they made this whole awards show joke into a gossip/news story

      • Hannah says:

I disagree. They made a desicion, it’s their right to stick with it. It’s not for some director of a show. And I do think it makes a difference. They were they only real life couple that was singled out.

    • OGBklynGirl says:

I BEG your pardon! Stanley Gucci is NOT ‘ some guy’! He is a god and we are not worthy
Other than that, I agree that they’re not obligated to pimp their relationship if they choose not to. Kinda refreshing

      • MD says:

It pays to get the name of your beloved “god” right. His name is Stanley TUCCI, not “Gucci”.

      • OGBklynGirl says:

Forgiveness please. Blame poor typing skills and wet fingernails…Ooops

Actually now that I think about it. ..f**k that! Was probably dang blasted auto correct. Yeah…I’m not owning that. I know the names of my gods!

  25. Elisa the I. says:

I like what Alicia did with her hair but the dress is too heavy and looks kind of depressing.
And I LOVE IT that Michael Fassbender didn’t play along!

  26. CornyBlue says:

The dress itself is beautiful but I dont think it suits Alicia at all. It looks very off in the headshots specially. Winslet looked great. Fassbender also looked nice. The kiss-cam stuff was so childish.

  27. meme says:

Kate getting the BAFTA for best supporting actress is a joke. Alicia was robbed. How do you Fassbender REFUSED to walk the carpet with Alicia. maybe they BOTH decided to walk separately.

  28. jlee says:

I wish Alicia wore her hair in a textured high ponytail. Her styling is always weak. LV overworks everything to DEATH….leather laser cutouts, porcupine spikes, pins, beadwork. They need Tim Gunn to talk some sense to them. Less is more. Edit.

  29. Sarah01 says:

I think Alicia is smart, she didn’t want to be known as Fassbenders girlfriend. She’s been in so many movies lately and she wants to be known in her own right. i think she’s very direct and when asked in an interview will answer the question. I don’t remember Fassbender ever talking about his past girlfriends but this site is my source for celebrity gossip so my exposure is limited.

I liked her look but I want to see her in some colour.
Winslet looks like she had work done like lasers and peels and I can’t believe she won. Her blowout was too much.

  30. Supersoft says:

Alicia’s dress reminds me of a dead sea urchin?
And Kate Winslet jacked up her face waaay too much, she is hardly recognisable.
She was once so pretty, now she looks just odd.

  31. Freddy Spaghetti says:

Kate looks amazing and she and Leo were so cute together.

  32. Andrea says:

I still find this behavior extremely odd. Michael and Alicia have looked awkward together at awards shows or in public in general since May or so. I really wonder what is truly going on?

    • Minxx says:

To me they look like two people who can’t stand being around each other – he’s never touching her in any way, even when sitting next to her, huge space between them. Not even a tender look or smile or talking to each other, nothing. I don’t know what’s going on but I’ve never seen a normal couple act this way. Everyone know they’re dating, Alicia kept talking about it in interviews, they even kissed for the benefit of the paps in Cannes or on NY street, it was obviously meant to be seen. And nobody cared. 🙂 . To me they broke up a while ago but they’re told to keep it up because of awards’ season and both of them are sick and tired of it. And it shows.

  33. Anare says:

Kate looks gorgeous. I’m not judging any nips or fillers she might have had, she looks great. I’ll just say as a woman of a certain age, ahem, that my face is “edgier” now than it used to be. I’m fine with that. The LV dress on Alicia is kind of rock and roll but that look is lost on her. She is very pretty but maybe should stick with softer looks.

  34. Peach says:

Kate Winslet didn’t walk the red carpet with her man either and they’re married with children. I don’t think the red carpet walk determines the level of love and/or commitment for any couple.

  35. ShinyGrenade says:

That dress would be awesome on Gwendoline Christie. You know, someone that looks like a fierce warrior.
    Or on Lagertha in Vikings.

    Fassy is a douche.

  36. lexx says:

it’s very possible that he learned a lesson after nicole and just decided not to talk about his relatonships ever again. But the thing is he’s just not that famous. He only has one franchise to his name, and every time I step into the real world everyone I talk to is like Michael who?
So the only thing I can come up with is he has lots of sidepieces and he’s trying to keep them all happy and stupid.

  37. Guest says:

Honestly I don’t get the fuss. Why not a kiss on the cheek instead? It was really akward. I understand that you do not want to be recognized for just being in a relationship with an actor or actress. I also understand why some couples do not walk the RC together as actors/actresses have a big ego and do not want to share the spotlight. I unterstand that this cam thing is totally off for the BAFTAS but geez some affection would be okay you know! And they should not wonder about paparazzi trying to sneak around to get THE picture. Honestly I would have kissed him just for being able to say: guess what…. You arses with your stupid cameras behind some bushes won’t get this picture. No money for you….. But what do I know… And I am a huge admirer of her….

    • Minxx says:

A kiss on the cheek would have been enough. Fassbender is always first to hug his castmates, he’s very touchy-feely. His refusal to come near her is very not like him. I don’t believe “privacy” is a reason or they wouldn’t be sitting together during BAFTAs on Valentine’s Day.

      • KCat says:

^^Same and people are trying to blame Fassbender when it’s both of them doing this. This is ridiculous.

  38. Ally8 says:

Actually, since the whole red carpet thing has turned into such an over-promoted, over-produced zoom, I think walking the red carpet with your most recent co-star (or co-star from the movie nominated at that awards show) is what they should all do.

Otherwise, you’re promoting your relationship on red carpet, which will be awkward, especially if it’s only a dating situation, since people will judge not only your outfit but your relationship based on how you behave. And if one in the couple isn’t part of the industry, it forces them to ‘perform’ for the cameras as well… just weird.

If the while thing is a promotional juggernaut, by all means, promote your movie. Wouldn’t people be more intrigued to see it based on seeing Fassy and Winslet together on the rc, than him and Vikander?

    • ell says:

“Otherwise, you’re promoting your relationship on red carpet”

thank you, i agree. i seem to be in the minority, but i’m tired of celebs promoting their relationships, i think it’s tacky. kate winslet was there with her mum and her husband, but didn’t pose with either. i always feel sorry for eddie redmayne’s wife because she’s not even part of the industry, and you can tell she’s isn’t thrilled to be there.

    • lilacflowers says:

Agree. The red carpet is a work environment. I never understand why people see it as some “declaration of relationship” thing.

      • Guest says:

I do agree with you. I really do when it comes to the RC. But those two were setting next to each other. I mean no affection at all is a bit odd. At least that’s what I think.

  39. Coffee says:

The thing about this relashionship is that everything looks so staged. Thats the problem.
Who cares If they are for real or not, because it looks staged in anyway. Period. Listen, first Australia with the couple alert thing, followed by the NYC kiss, in the same week Ex Machina was on Theaters. Later, Cannes with more kisses, then, a breakup rumor followed by Steve Jobs… At the GG, seating next to her mom in one family moment, now, seating next to his parents.. And then, the cam kiss, which showed clearly that they dont know how to improv. It was a task. Fassbender failed.
    What about the Oscars?
Thats why Fassbenders fans dont believe in this relashionship, because we already saw the Madalina Ghena case. We just dont buy it. Period.
Honestly, what they will do at the Oscars? I ask again. Holding hands at the red carpete they cant… Otherwise people will ask: where is the private couple ?
Again, they are taking advantage of this relashionship – both! How will a relashionship like this survive? I dont see the lights between oceans… I hope people get my double meaning …
They are not genuine. Period. And they will never be, because they have been leading this relashionship in a wrong way since the beggining.
Now, they have a problem at the Oscars. Because their strategy wont work.
I dont know.. But I just have the feeling that Madalina Ghena is laughing loudly right now…
Well, is funny in fact ..

    • Anon says:

Fanfiction, all over. Fassbender really has some strange fans.
      Period. Lol

      • D says:

@Anon I always thought it was just the tween boyband/beliber fans who wrote fanfiction.Guess not…

      • ell says:

every actor/musician has crazy stans lol. the fassbender lot is as bad as the cumberbatch lot and the tom hiddleston lot. when their beloved keeps relationships on the low THEY’RE FAKE, and when their beloved comes out with a relationship IT’S FAKE IT’S FOR PR. basically it’s always fake, no matter what.

    • Anon says:

@D It’s bizarre thing those fandoms, often with British actors. I don’t know why.

    • Anon says:

@ Coffee If you think you’re rational then good for you I guess.

      • Anon says:

@D I don’t think there is anything to understand, except nonsense.

      • Coffee says:

Well If was a nonsense thing… It wouldnt had affected you so much right?
Well, I dont think you will answer me back, but, If you do, why not surprise me with a good answer? This offending game I already know very well.
        Or… I suggest you.
Why we dont take this level of criativity to another level? What do you think?
Have you been bad? – thats such a nice line!
Cheers Fassbenders fans! And Vikanders as well! Everybody is very well welcome to join this group!
        🙂

    • CornyBlue says:

A relationship is a relationship whether someone who knows neither in the relationship and has never met them believes it or not.

    • KCat says:

All the evidence and people still want to dream about this ‘couple’. I thought it was real for a time. Now I know better.

  40. themummy says:

Hmm. I don’t get how Alicia is a thing. She’s pretty, but nondescript. That said, I’ve never seen her in any movies or anything, so maybe that’s the problem for me. Maybe she’s more something in motion. She looks like half the girls I went to high school with: put together, pretty, kind of plain. Am I way off on this?

  41. LaDiabla says:

I agree with Guest and Minxx above. He could’ve just kissed her on the cheek…it’s not like you gotta mug down for the camera. I hope they’re together – she’s really lovely and he’s hot – and they’re both talented, but who knows? Their body language does seem off. A good relationship should make you feel more relaxed. I know I’d feel way more at ease if I had a significant other to take me to one of these events, but I’m a shy person. I do like her dress and makeup, but that does look like some tinsel billowing around the hem.

  42. Tiffany says:

    Alicia can do better.

    • MD says:

So can Michael. But apparently these two don’t want “better” and are clinging on to each other for dear life (which I don’t understand at all). The jig’s up, kids…end the charade now.

      • KCat says:

I think he’s tired of the arrangements. This is not a real couple. They can’t stand each other. I think it started out real and turned into this. Alicia’s team is on here, big time. All of the cover-up stories in the press afterwards tells you everything you need to know. Both are at fault but i think Fassbender is really tired of playing at this point.

  43. Luciana says:

Kate Winslet looks like Madonna, and that’s not a compliment. Her face is just too tight.

  44. Sus says:

I think Kate Winslet looks terrific. Appropriately, she looks more mature than she did 10-15 years ago, and I think it’s great that her features (and her overall look) complement her actual age.

On the other hand, Alicia Vikander consistently looks too young for her outfits. I don’t care for her dress, but aside from my own opinion, she looks about 16 all the time — like she raided her mom’s wardrobe for a “grown-up” dress. Fassbender sure likes the twentysomethings, doesn’t he?

  45. KCat says:

I think he’s tired of the arrangements. This is not a real couple. They can’t stand each other.

I’m a fan of MF, but he’s really irking my crevice.

    Leo & Maggie were cute.
