Demi Lovato tells rude fans to ‘Take your negativity elsewhere’

In this social media-driven world, many celebrities take on their detractors with a tweet or Instagram pic. Demi Lovato did just that after fans gave her grief for not stopping to chat with them. The singer, who just released the video for her new song “Stone Cold”, posted a lengthy note on her Twitter feed. It read as follows:

I try my hardest to stop for as many fans as I possibly can before it gets too hectic or crazy. No matter how long I’ve been doing this, sometimes the madness with the yelling and pushing becomes overwhelming and to avoid people either getting hurt or having more anxiety, I go inside hoping my fans will understand. Today I had 2 instances where I had rude things yelled at me because I didn’t stop for every single person. When stuff like that happens it actually really sucks. It’s not okay and just remember, I’m used to getting hate but I’m human too. So please.. Take your negativity else where.”

This, of course, isn’t the first time Demi has had to take a defensive swipe at her critics. She’s taken on body image issues, feminism and I assume she gets some grief for dating Wilmer Valderrama. Well, she does kind of deserve some flak for that. She’s also had a thing or two to say about her treatment by the media. If you’re in the public eye, you’re going to have your haters. Demi should take a lesson from one of my favorite drag queens, Jinkx Monsoon. Repeat after me, “Water off a duck’s back.”

If affirmation mantras aren’t her thing, she could just focus her energy on her upcoming Future Now tour with Nick Jonas. Fans of the former Disney stars may be treated to a duet or two during the tour. When asked about the possibility of the two sharing the stage, Demi demurred, “We are working out the details, we are trying to figure everything out. We want it to be an unforgettable experience. We are very hands on with all the details. If you ask me in two months I can give you a solid answer.” Sounds like that’s happening. Oh, and I adore the military jacket. The glasses too, but I’m a nerd, so of course I would.

This kind of thing probably happens to every celebrity on a pretty regular basis yet only Demi Lovato felt the need to address it.

The thirst is real with this one.

    • Spiderpig says:

Tons of celebs have made similar statements. Tons. It happens regularly. Have you been living under a rock?

      • Kitten says:

Who? When was the last time a celebrity felt the need to clarify why two fans didn’t get the autograph they wanted that one time?

Most celebrities don’t acknowledge stuff like that because they know all that does is draw public attention to something that would otherwise go unnoticed, save for a few fans.

      • Alex says:

Jen said the same thing recently about people who tell her to F off after she agrees to sign something but won’t take a photo. Celebs do address it at times

      • Birdy says:

        Kitten is 100% right!!!

    • Tifygodess24 says:

@kitten well…you must have hit a nerve. Haha. Don’t worry I’ll come visit you under that rock. đŸ˜‰

Always The Struggle and The Fight with Demi, but we all have our causes, I guess.

  2. Louise177 says:

A lot of fans seem to think celebrities owe them something. It must be hard and exhausting trying to be on 24/7.

It looks like she forgot to button her skirt in the front. I know it was made that way, but it looks really bad to me.

  4. Kimbers says:

She’s too pretty for those frames. Nearly all girls look ugly in them. Never play into a trend, buy for your face structure, color palette and body shape.

    • Elsie says:

I actually think she looks better in them! Well, compared to the picture with her hair slicked back. The glasses complement her strong chin

    • Dee says:

A few of us can pull of “ugly glasses”. She’s making then work, but not everyone is blessed with this kind of face.

I hate the complaining but I get it. I went to a tiny bands concert last week and there were maybe 100 people waiting to meet the singer and shoving and yelling and he was sooo overwhelmed to the point where his tour manager just swooped in and pulled him back to the bus. People need to remember that yes, while they’re famous musicians, they’re people too. Jumping on them and howling at them is frightening and unnecessary. If we all waited patiently, we’d have a better shot at meeting our favorite singer/actor etc.

  6. Birdy says:

demi honey in 30 years NO ONE WILL REMEBER YOU OR YOUE SH**y MUSIC! this from a daft clown who almost ran over Sir Paul McCartney. smh She is so thirsty for attention her and her girlfriend!

  7. Naddie says:

I don’t like her but she’s got a point. Fans can be so entitled. She’s a person, not a walking object to take pictures beside.
