Susan Boyle has some fierce young competition

Brittan has got a crazy amount of people with unexpected talent. That’s the only way I can explain the phenomenon of both Susan Boyle and now young Hollie Steel. Boyle has gotten a ton of attention over the last few weeks since she shocked the world with her amazing voice during “Brittan’s Got Talent” auditions. Without having seen anyone else perform, I still felt safe in assuming Susan would win the competition. Not just because of her insane talent, but because she’s become quite the worldwide phenomenon.

Now 10-year-old Hollie Steel has thrown her log into the fire with a sensational performance of “I Could Have Danced All Night” from My Fair Lady.

After fans everywhere fell in love with Susan Boyle on Britain’s Got Talent, whoever would have thought a teeny 10-year-old in a tutu could give her a run for her money?

Hollie Steel recently wowed judges on the talent competition. After flitting about stage briefly, she opened her mouth and shocked Simon Cowell and the others with her rendition of “I Could’ve Danced All Night” from My Fair Lady.

And now she’s weiging in on her competition telling Extra of Susan, “I like her new look, but I think it looked better before. My advice to Susan would be, ‘Don’t change your look [more] because if you change your look you won’t be who you are…’”

And oh, also? May the best woman/girl win!

“My message to Susan is, ‘Good luck and I hope I can beat you.’ ”

[From OK!]

I know people will be impressed with Hollie’s performance, and it is very good. I didn’t think it was as spectacular as Susan’s – probably because it wasn’t as shocking. Yes, a strong, surprisingly mature voice came out of a very little person. But she sort of reminded me of every overly-trained theater kid. She’s certainly very talented, but after watching her little dance I could sense the perfectionist routine that was coming.Which was awesome, just expected. I’m still pulling for Susan. I know she’s gone all fancy Hollywood according to some, but I still see her as the underdog, and it’s hard not to root for her.

she has a Keira Knightley face! she’s a great talent!

  3. Lucinda says:

Wow! For a kid that young to sing with that kind of control is amazing!

Why don’t we let kids just be kids?

She seems so “trained”, and the dance made me feel sorry for her.

She can definitely sing, but I felt uncomfortobale watching how her hand gestures and moves were so “trained”.

Putting all this pressure on a little girl is making me feel uncomfortable.

I think we should allow children have their childhood and not have them compete with adults.

She has such a genuine smile. I think she likes performing, or she’s a good actress as well. Her voice is very nice.

Give this little girl the time to grow up. In a few years, she’ll be a stunner–both in looks and talent. But I still think Susan Boyle had a stronger control over her vocal presence than with her or the boy from Wales.

Sweet little girl, beautiful voice. Touch stageschooly tho.

In other news; how gorgeous is Kelly – I just adore her.

Sweet girl, clearly very talented – for god’s sake keep her out of the spotlight until she’s finished with school.

I agreed she came across very coached and drilled. To me she’s the sort of fish you’d throw back to let it grow up a bit more.

From all the Britain’s Got Talent clips I’ve seen, the audience claps toooo much. It might just be editing or something, but the moment someone sings their first word, the audience starts cheering.
