Chelsea Clinton did a royal-esque photo op with her parents & baby Aidan

FFN_COHEN_CLINTON_BABY_06202016_52099080

Here are some photos of Chelsea Clinton leaving a New York hospital following the birth of her second child, baby boy Aidan Clinton Mezvinsky. Chelsea gave birth on Saturday, and I guess she stayed at the hospital two nights and left the hospital on Monday. Chelsea, her husband Marc and her parents, Bill and Hillary Clinton, all left together. I guess Marc’s parents don’t get to be included in the photo-op! As many have already noted, there’s sort of a royal flavor to this photo-op, like Chelsea is pulling a Duchess Kate. In Chelsea’s defense, I think it’s more like the photographers were already waiting for her to leave the hospital and she just made the most of it, probably with Hillary’s help. It’s a nice photo-op, is what I’m saying.

Incidentally, people are loving Chelsea’s baby-name choices because they make her seem like a die-hard Sex and the City fan. Charlotte was one of the main characters and Aidan was Carrie’s fiancé. If Chelsea has another baby, the name will probably be Sam! Because you can’t name a baby “Mr. Big.”

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton’s stay in New York has been incredibly productive, and by that I mean she raised a ton of money last night at a star-studded fundraiser thrown by Harvey Weinstein. Hillary is raising money hand over fist, and she currently has more than $42 million in her campaign war chest, and that’s just for her campaign. If you include her superpac, she has more than $100 million on-hand. Donald Trump, meanwhile, is the human embodiment of a sad clown noise. He keeps lending his campaign money, his campaign leadership is in shambles, and he only had $1.3 million on hand at the end of May. Which has led to #TrumpSoPoor trending on Twitter. It’s glorious.

    Told ‘ya.

  2. Lola says:

Hey, look how much money Jeb had compared to Trump during the primaries. And somehow Trump still got the nomination.

    • Who ARE these people? says:

Trump got the media to give him free advertising.

      • Lola says:

True. But isn’t he still getting that? He’s the republican nominee.

      • Luca76 says:

Nope the media is actually doing its job and fact checking and asking him questions finally. And unlike all of the primary contestants Hillary isn’t afraid of offending Trump supporters so his numbers are sinking in the polls.

      • Who ARE these people? says:

Yes they’re finally doing it, but they gave him a free ride to the point of becoming the presumptive nominee & it’s still going to cause all kinds of havoc due to his passionate mob following. One of the major news chiefs gloried in public about how much money Trump was making for them. They were complicit, but now I hope they will remember and figure out how to do their job — they’re corporate-owned and profits are still priority.

Let’s hope he sinks like a stone. He’s not the rich man he pretends to be, and the real money in the US system is afraid of his taking the reins. They need stability.

    • Scal says:

Also if you look at the list of ‘vendors’ that Trump has been paying-many of them are trump companies. He spent 700K to Trump tower in May alone.
      https://twitter.com/derekwillis/status/745082013321990145/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

He’s basically just using campaign funds to shift it back to his own business because he’s a grifter. He doesn’t fund raise down ticket for the RNC, and the RNC hasn’t been able to pull in big numbers for him either (mostly because he won’t call donors yet still demands money for the general election from the RNC)

      • Megan says:

One of the risks of nominating someone from outside the political system is that they lack the skills and experience, namely fundraising, to run a successful campaign. For Trump supporters, this is bad news. For the rest of us, this is great news!!!!!

      • Luca76 says:

From what I’ve heard from political analysts the Republican Party is basically abandoning ship and planning to concentrate on local elections so that they don’t lose too many seats in the House and Senate and govorners races. I’m also assuming that the big donors (like the Koch brothers) are putting their money into that too.

      • TG says:

The Koch brothers were interviewed a few months back and were disgusted with where the Repub party was at (Trump). When asked if they would back Clinton, they said “possibly”. I’m paraphrasing, but there are quite a few articles about it online, and I’m not linking any op-eds.
Also, according to leaked documents, Charles Koch has donated to the Clinton campaign.

  3. Who ARE these people? says:

Ex president and presumptive presidential nominee, yeah that makes a nice photo. I think they keep Mark M ‘s parents low-key because his father had legal problems, and not only legal problems but the type that the Clinton campaign doesn’t need near it right now.

They look very happy and you can’t fake that.

  4. One2 says:

I feel bad for laughing as hard as i did at the picture. Idk why i find it so funny. Congrats to them on their baby!

    • Lisa says:

Probably because Bill looks ridiculous! What the heck is he wearing?
Everyone look very happy though. Congrats to Chelsea, Mark & Charlotte on baby Aidan.

    • Lahdidahbaby says:

Hillary looks like the Wizard of Oz in that outfit.

  5. Megan says:

Since Marc’s dad spent five years in jail for running a massive con, I don’t think we’ll be seeing any photo ops with him before the election.

    • boredblond says:

      That’s weird. .Ivanka’s father-in-law was in prison too! What a bunch…

    • notasugarhere says:

Whatever set of in-laws have done pales in comparison to what Trump himself is guilty of.

    • Michelle says:

Seems like he’d fit in perfectly with the Clintons. Hillary is running the biggest con on the American people.

  6. boredblond says:

I didn’t even think about the Sex in the City connection. .but I bet she wouldn’t use Samantha..

  7. vilebody says:

I walked by the hospital yesterday afternoon and can confirm that it was pretty much just photographers, along with three or four regular people, who were waiting.

  8. QueenE says:

I met Bill Clinton this past April and he told me how excited he was to be a grandfather again. Bragged about his granddaughter to me and my mom.

  9. LAK says:

It was revealed at the end of SATC that Mr Big’s name was John.

Yep, i love the show that much though i’d draw the line at naming any kids after characters.

  10. JudyK says:

Geez, it’s normal to be photographed after a baby arrives. Sweet pictures.

    • Myriam says:

Yeah, I didn’t even think of this as a royal-esque photo op. Speaking of Sex and the City, I remember Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick did the same thing when they had their son. I think it was in front of their townhouse. Not anything new.

  11. nicole says:

I don’t think Bill got the memo about dressing for photographers.

    • MsGoblin says:

Bill is just swimming in that jacket. He doesn’t look well. : (

      • Megan says:

Before Chelsea’s wedding, Bill lost a ton of weight and never bought clothes in his correct size. Maybe he thinks he looks like David Byrne?

      • Who ARE these people? says:

He seems like a shell of his former buoyant self, and also like he could stand to put a little weight back on.

      • Esmom says:

He looks really frail. I wonder if it’s simply aging. My dad was healthy and fit and robust and then suddenly became thin and frail, seemingly overnight. No medical issues. He still works out and is fit for his age but he’s just…elderly now, I guess.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

      Yeah, he looks awful.

    • PunkyMomma says:

Yes, I agree about the former President. He looks ill.

      • aang says:

Saw him in April. He seemed tired and off his game. Like some of hs charisma is gone compared to when I had seen him in the past.

    • burnsie says:

He’s lookin a little 80s in that outfit. But I hope he’s well

      • ladybosca says:

Hi all! The rumor at the time of Chelsea and Marc’s wedding was that Chelsea wanted Bill to lose 25-35 lbs before walking her down the aisle. He also has been eating alot more healthy in the past 6 or so years ( no more McDonalds!!).
        Have a great day all!
        🙂

    • Chaine says:

Is it ok to use tabloid-speak and say he looks “scary skinny”? Cuz he does.

  12. hb41 says:

Congratulations to them- very cute picture. In my experience, the maternal grandparents are around the hospital more because THEIR baby just went through medical drama (giving birth). I wasn’t in the hospital long enough for my in-laws to make it for 2 of my 3 births, which is fine. PLENTY of time to see the baby once you get home. Yes, Ivanka’s father-in-law is an con/ex-con and also donated a bunch of money (I think a whole building) bc his son (Ivanka’s husband) couldn’t get accepted to college on his own merits..yet Drumpf screams about Pres Obama’s credentials.

  13. neve says:

Hillary Clinton is to America what Margaret Thatcher was the the UK. Being a female candidate does not make you the good candidate. She has been bought, and selected by the financial elites, and will help America drive itself into worse financial polarization and chaos.

    #stillvotingforbernie

    • RedOnTheHead says:

Neve, finally a comment I can agree with. I could go on for paragraphs about why she is bad for the country but there’s no point. Ardent Hillary supporters will not hear a word against her. I have wished for a female president for a long time. I had hoped to get one not so dogged by scandal and one that didn’t make me cringe every time the lies come flying out of her mouth.

This election cycle is the most depressing one I can remember. At this point, I’m pretty sure I’m going with the Rock as a write in candidate.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

        +a billion

      • Mel M says:

Right there with you. So so so depressing. I keep wondering how we got here? If you would’ve told me two years ago these would be the nominees I would not have believed you in a million years. I keep thinking/hoping/praying that someone will pop out of the woodwork and we will all breathe a sigh of relief.

      • Abby_J says:

This really is the worst election year ever. Chris Evans just turned 35, and he *IS* Captain America, so I might just vote for him. Or myself. Yeah, probably for myself.

Vote for me! I’m for whatever you are!

      • Llamas says:

I’m a republican and I actually laughed at your last paragraph. It so perfectly fits this disaster. I may write my dog’s name in. Free treats for all. My hedgehog can be VP.

    • Jayna says:

Bernie would have been an ineffective president.

Hillary is going to be an awesome president.

      • 0neNonBlonde says:

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I agree with neve. Not that the other choice is any better. #anyoneelse2016

      • Twodollars says:

There is nothing in Hillary’s history that shows she’d be an awesome president. She was a do-nothing Senator who got no bills passed (outside of 3 ceremonial bills) in 8 years. Her time as SOS has been strongly eclipsed by John Kerry’s tremendous work. Her one attempt at being an effective leader as First Lady was Hillarycare which was a disaster due to her poor leadership. She couldn’t even get the bill out of committee in a Democratic-led Congress. She has a great PR team, but her actual record leaves a lot to be desired.

      • TG says:

Hillary is awesome at warmongering tho, and promoting fracking on a global scale, and accepting large sums of money from foreign donors to fund her campaign, and compromising our national security by using a private server…so awesome.

      • Megan says:

@TG Hillary does not accept campaign contributions from foreign donors as that is illegal. All gifts of $100 or more must be reported to the FEC and are listed in a public database. Any contributions the FEC rejects must be returned to the donor.

      • TG says:

@Megan, it is illegal and that’s probably why the Clinton Foundation is being investigated for being a slush fund. lol

    • ItDoesntReallyMatter says:

Neve, I agree about Hillary. But unfortunately socialism (Bernie) isn’t the solution.

    • felixswan2 says:

      @neve agree 100%

  14. L says:

Chelsea looks so happy it seems she has tears of joy! So sweet!

  15. Canadian Becks says:

Doesn’t that baby have a perfectly shaped head? I mean, it’s a newborn and the head is not misshapen. Just wonder if that points to a C-section?

I ask because my experience is limited to just my one child. And we joke about it now, but I can still recall witnessing my mother-in-law peering into the bassinet with the most horrified look on her face, and then when she caught my eye, immediately smiled at me way too broadly – LOL.
I found out later that the baby’s head was misshapen from the squeeze down the birth canal and that this is “common” in vaginal births. In hindsight it was very comical.

    • aang says:

my first had a head that made her look like mayan royalty. my second was small. labor was quick, she popped right out when my water broke, so she wasnt in the birth canal long enough to squish her head. her head was perfectly round.

    • Cleo says:

Is it important to know how the baby was delivered? Baby and mama look good, everyone seems happy.

Also, my two boys had round small heads and were delivered vaginally. I dunno, it’s hard to generalize. What if you had an emergency csection after pushing and your baby had a squished head?

    • Tanya says:

All my babies had perfect heads, because they had little noggins and quick deliveries. 2nd babies tend to be faster too.

  16. Amide says:

If either the Bush twins did grand stuff like this, the reaction would be quite different.

  17. Jen43 says:

That’s a really sweet family picture. I get the impression that both Clintons are overjoyed to have another grandchild.

The only issue I have with Chelsea is that she claims that her hair naturally straightened out as she got older and that it isn’t a keratin treatment. I have curly hair myself and I just can’t believe that, considering how curly/frizzy her hair used to be.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

My hair isn’t nearly as curly/frizzy as it used to be, for what it’s worth.

    • DiamondGirl says:

I don’t believe her either. I think all the curly hair was from perms. It’s not curly like that in her baby/toddler pics.

  18. Jayna says:

    She looks tired but happy.

  19. Gg says:

All hail Queen Hillary. They weren’t kidding when they said this would be a coronation. Thank you for the photo op your majesty!

    • 0neNonBlonde says:

      Sickening, isn’t it?

    • Who ARE these people? says:

Oh, please. As I said above, the new grandparents are very high-status people in US governance and politics, with 1 especially newsworthy now. This has nothing to do with any coronation or queenship. I am not her biggest fan but I also think if she were a man, we wouldn’t be talking about coronation or queenliness either.

I also don’t see what’s ‘sickening’ about a nice photo of a happy family with a new baby. You have to really have some serious reserves of hatred to come up with that.

  20. LizLemonGotMarried says:

Here are my thoughts on the Drumpf situation:
We need to get through the convention and have him as the official nominee before he completely messes it up. Right now, they could still unbind delegates and pick another nominee. It would be ugly and completely out of character and history, but desperate times… I know Hillary can take down Drumpf; I’m not as confident if they pick one of the old money, old school bland white boys (who may be closet racist homophobes, but haven’t come out and said the things Drumpf has said).
Also, my spell check does not recognize Drumpf. Off to rectify that!

    • TG says:

Can she take Trump tho? There’s a yuuuuuuge group of people, millions of voters, Dem, Ind, & Rep that won’t vote for her.

      • Susan says:

I’m not convinced this is going to be as easy of an election for her as we think. ;(

      • TG says:

I think between the FBI & DOJ investigation, the Clinton Foundation being investigated for the largest charity fraud ever attempted, the Guccifer leaks showing collusion with the DNC & the Clinton campaign, and a contested DNC convention in July, that this is going to be a very difficult uphill battle for Hillary.

      • Jayna says:

Trump is screwed in this election against HIllary, and he’s taking down the Republican Party.

I have said it before and I will say it again that Hillary is going to trump Trump. She will take him down in debates. He is now attacking her not being religious enough when there is plenty of evidence where she has talked about her faith. But that’s not the point. He goes for these tacky low blows is how he fights, inferring things about Obama and now HIllary religionwise. He is scum and the more he is backed in a corner, the more these retorts will come out and just keep hurting him. His own party is turning against him.

His campaign is a mess as far as funds, what he needs to do to win. A very interesting read below about what bad shape his campaign is in raising funds.

  21. UESider says:

Not sure why everyone is surprised… They did this exact thing with her first baby, too. No shade from me–this is an extremely high profile family and if giving photographers what they want (mom+baby+former president+current presidential nominee shots) means photographers will back off and not try to aggressively get one, then good on them.

    • Esmom says:

Yes. And really what else were they supposed to do, hide the baby just because it’s in the midst of election season?

    • Who ARE these people? says:

Really – thanks for the common sense! And given their ages, and when they got married, and fertilization being what it is, this is just plain how the timing worked out for them.

  22. Jb says:

Hillary wore a coat the duchess of buttons would love! Long sleeves in June!

  23. Cerys says:

A nice happy family picture. Both grandparents are high-profile so there is obviously going to be media interest. Good on them for posing outside the hospital rather than signing a magazine deal for a huge fee. Chelsea looks well after giving birth.

  24. Chelsea has juicy knees just like me…YAY 🙂

  25. ItDoesntReallyMatter says:

I wanted to add that I voted for Bill twice, but will absolutely not vote for his wife. She is rotten to the core.

Great family photo and I am happy for them all. Two beautiful healthy children born to parents who love them dearly. That makes me happy. I only wish the best for them.

I hope Hillary is retired and has plenty of time starting next year to be a most excellent grandmother to these babies. Her greatest achievement is her amazing daughter and grandchildren. At least she did something right. 😉

  26. Veronica says:

I have a soft spot for Chelsea because of all the drama she lived through under her father’s presidency. Also, MY GOD was the right wing cruel to her. To this day, it is mindblowing the amount of misogynistic commentary that was bantered around about her looks when she was a TEENAGER, of all things.

  27. Sunshine Gold says:

This a prime photo op during a campaign, plain and simple – and Chelsea’s husband is extremely shady.
