Does Taylor Swift even care about Kanye West’s gross ‘Famous’ video?

FFN_FF9_KARDASHIAN_WEST_6252016_52104114

As we discussed on Sunday, Kanye West dropped his music video for “Famous” late Friday night. He premiered it like a movie, then streamed it on Tidal. You can see the very, very NSFW clip here. The video included wax-figures or look-alikes of everyone from Donald Trump to George W. Bush to Taylor Swift and Rihanna. It was and is a huge mess. But something funny happened after the video dropped… beyond internet commenters, no one really cared. Kanye even went on Twitter and begged people to sue him. But there’s barely been any reaction besides a lot of shrugs.

It’s been more than 36 hours since Kanye West debuted his anticipated “Famous” music video and the rapper has so far been met with mostly silence from the celebs he included in the NSFW clip. He had premiered the clip Friday night at a massive fan event at the L.A. Forum, where he was joined by wife Kim Kardashian and other family members and friends. Both he and Kim are also featured nude in the video, lying in bed with naked people resembling former President George W. Bush, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, Rihanna, her ex Chris Brown, Kim’s ex Ray J, Kanye’s ex Amber Rose, Kim’s mom’s ex Caitlyn Jenner, Bill Cosby and yes, Taylor Swift .

As of Sunday morning, neither have most of the stars shown in the clip. Chris Brown, however, who doesn’t appear to be bothered by it.

“Why I gotta have the plumbers butt / crack showing WAX figure?” he wrote on Instagram, adding a string of smiley faces. “This n—a KANYE CRAZY, talented, but crazy.”

In addition, an aide for Bush told Us Weekly, “That’s not him.”

Meanwhile, Kanye took to Twitter Saturday to post, “Can somebody sue me already #I’llwait.” He later deleted the tweet.

[From E! News]

Amber Rose didn’t even say anything! And while “sources” claim that Taylor Swift is beyond pissed about her “inclusion” in the video, she still hasn’t said anything about it, nor has she leaked any quotes to People, Us Weekly or E! News. The only site claiming to have some insight on what Taylor is thinking is Hollywood Life! So take it with a grain of salt:

“Taylor is livid. Taylor is horrified [by the ‘Famous’ music video]. Taylor didn’t know what to do when she heard about what Kanye did. She is bewildered, feels betrayed and is beyond frustrated with Kanye. It is like a complete nightmare. Taylor is pissed to say the least!”

[From Hollywood Life]

While I imagine Taylor is horrified, along with the rest of the people included in Kanye’s art project, I do think it’s smart that no one is engaging Kanye. That’s what will hurt him more than any lawsuit or statement: ambivalence. Apathy. A shrug. When no one even cares enough to sue, that’s a problem on Kanye’s end. You can’t be a provocateur if no one cares enough to be provoked.

Perhaps nobody is saying anything, because they all knew and gave approval?

    • nicole says:

There is no way that Anna Wintour, George Bush and Donald Trump would have given permission. Taylor either after everything. Probably not the rest but who knows.

    • Alyce says:

No. No way did they all know and give approval. Do you actually think President Bush would say, “Sure, I’ll be in your naked video with Bill Cosby and Trump!”?

      I mean really?!?

Taylor Swift can’t win with some people. If she made a statement, people would be all, “She can’t stop playing the victim can she?” And since she hasn’t it is all, “Taylor knew and she knew about the song!”

She actually is the victim here. Along with the other women Kayne freakishly objectified without their consent.

      • Tifygodess24 says:

@alyce exactly. And that’s what Kanye wanted- to make Taylor look worse. If she doesn’t say something it just validates what they are trying to claim that she’s a liar and approved this f-Art/song and if she does say something she’s playing the victim. Which btw she is and so isn’t anyone that is naked in that video without consent. I’m not even a Taylor fan and I can see this nonsense. I still find the whole thing disgusting. Any of us on this forum would be p*ssed if someone did this to us (imagine an ex boyfriend or friend creating similar art and putting it on Facebook/social media or something) to put this in perspective. They are nude here without consent. Celebrity or not they are allowed control over their nude bodies- alluded or real. And not to mention notice that the women Kanye “respect” ( Kim and Anna W) are completely covered yet Amber and Taylor are exposed for the world to see. (Caitlyn is most likely exposed to show her transition to a woman) Even the men are mostly covered. And yes I would love for everyone to continue ignoring him; and it’s probably killing him because it didn’t get the response he wants which is great and I would love in any other circumstance but this man really needs to be put in his place. He is out of control. And as far as I’m concerned this falls under some kind of harassment especially for Taylor and Amber who he has constantly found ways to do nasty things to in the media. Kanye thinks he’s untouchable and that just needs to stop. Mad man.

      • Jwoolman says:

If asked about it, Taylor and everybody else should just say “No, that’s not me. I never posed for the figure and never was asked for my permission and never gave it. Next question….”

    • kate says:

I think the nude people (Amber Rose and Rihanna notably) gave approval and ones on their stomachs didn’t.

      • The Original Mia says:

By that logic, Kim didn’t give her permission and we know she has no problem whatsoever showing everything. So, nah…he wanted people to leer at the women he has no respect for, namely Amber Rose, Rihanna, and Taylor. He wanted to shame them.

  2. MrsBPitt says:

I am so over Kanye and his feeble attempts to be shocking….he needs to just be another player on the Kardashians….He obviously lost whatever talent he had a long time ago!

    • claire says:

      For real.

His events are full of Kardashians. If Kris Jenner is one of the hyped celebs at your event, you’ve lost the plot. You’ve lost the cool factor.

    • Carol says:

I don’t get why this video is getting so much attention. It’s lame. And he seems to be venturing into Madonna territory of desperately trying to shock people for shock sake.

      • Dirty Martini says:

Honest question….is it really getting attention ? I admit it might well very get attention from various venues I don’t dwell in. Really it seems to me that it would be getting more –but it’s Kanye, a lot of folks are OVER Kanye, and since he just wants attention…….it’s more satisfying to just ignore him.

And upthread…. The thought that any one other than Kim would give their permission (much less participate) is preposterous, Again — it’s Kanye.

    • melodycalder says:

Real talent doesn’t need gimmicks to get people talking about their music

      • caitlinK says:

Exactly. I have NEVER seen one iota of talent in Kanye, it’s all shock factor. Take that away–and even that is so transparent, that it’s ludicrous–and he’s the “pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.” All self proclaimed wizardry and glory and oversized majestic smoke and mirrors, w nothing in the least to back it up.

  3. MorningCoffee says:

As always, just when I start to kind of like Kanye, he does some crap like this that shows just what a rotten human being he is. And yes – if no one said anything at all, that would be the worst punishment ever for him. Taylor should just keep staging happy photo ops and not say a word.

    • annaloo. says:

I wish that I could “like” your comment, but since I can’t show the appreciation this way, I wisll simply say:

      “TRUTH”!!!

  4. BritAfrica says:

Nope. She is too busy Tiddlesbanging.

    Kanye who??

  5. Lilacflowers says:

Excuse me but The Misogynist Formerly Known As Kanye” shall now be known as Pig.

    • Tris says:

      Worse: “Piggie”

      • kanyekardashian says:

I’ve never understood why people use pigs as an insult. Pigs are highly intelligent, loyal, and affectionate animals. Find another word to describe Kanye. Oh yeah, misogynist will do just fine.

    • frisbee says:

or even ‘ickle piggy wiggy’ even – he behaves like a spoilt brat three year old, treat him like a spoilt brat three year old and ignore him until he learns better manners.

  6. Almondjoy says:

And I bet it kills him. He’s dying for someone to care and to engage in a war of words with him. Ugh.

    • Tiffany27 says:

Exactly!!! I am beyond tickled that NO ONE CARES.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I think it’s hilarious that people are just ignoring him. That must be making him nuts.

    • Almondjoy says:

YES Tiff and GNAT!!! When I saw his “will somebody sue me already” tweet I realized that what he wants most is attention from these 10 people. I’m SO glad they’re not giving it to him!

Sidenote: I know no one cares about Ray J and that he’s the least of the celebs featured in the video, but I was glad to see him unbothered and hosting the BET Awards red carpet last night. Literally nobody is mentioning him other than Chris Brown.

      • FingerBinger says:

@ Almondjoy Ray J has had sex on camera. This shouldn’t bother him.

      • Almondjoy says:

Hmmm. Call me crazy, but I’m thinking that having sex on camera with consent is different from what Kanye did here, without his consent. Again, I’m just really glad no one is acknowledging him.

      • Jwoolman says:

What I can’t figure out is why Kim is ok with Ray J’s image included. She keeps trying in her own weird little way to be taken seriously and keeps telling people to get over that sex tape in her dim and distant past. (Yes, I know it seems contradictory that she takes her clothes off for the camera every chance she gets, but she does seem bothered by continued reference to the sex tape that started it all.) Then Kanye (reputedly a big fan of that tape who views it often) puts the focus on it all over again. Doesn’t this have a major ick factor for her?

    • saras says:

Like a kid throwing a tantrum on the floor during a holiday party that the family ignores then storms off to his room to pout…

      • Marieeeee says:

The thing that creeps me out very most about this video from their perspectives- especially Taylor’s- is the idea that there was an entire team of people discussing and creating what they think my naked body looks like. This a little bigger, these further apart, I image that’s probably a lighter shade…. Just Nast.

  7. Samtha says:

When you have Chris Brown calling you crazy, you know you’ve hit a new low.

That said, Nori is so cute.

  8. sunnydaze says:

Someone once told me the opposite of love isn’t hate, it’s apathy. The best revenge truly is to say, or at least project, “you’re really just not worth my time, thoughts, effort, legal team, etc. That’s how little you matter”. I like this strategy.

    • lucy2 says:

As wrong as he is for doing this and as much as I’d like to see him held accountable, I have to agree that ignoring him is the best option, because he is so clearly desperate for the attention.

  9. Suzanne says:

I really hope that nobody comments and they continue to ignore him. He is an attention seeker so ignoring him is like cutting off his oxygen. I can imagine a rumplestilskin like tantrum occurring if he doesn’t get some reaction soon.

  10. Locke Lamora says:

While the inclusion of Cosby and Brown is horrible, without them the video would be a really good commentary on celebrity culture, and how all of these people are esentially in the same bed, profiting from their manufactured “feuds”and relationships. And I bet most of them knew they would be in the video.

    • Kitten says:

Meh. People keep saying this but artistically-speaking, the video falls flat for me.

Too literal, too lazy, too derivative.

Vincent Desiderio did it first with his beautiful painting “Sleep”. Desiderio did it better and IMO his painting was far more poignant and impactful than Kanye’s cheap rip-off version.

      • TwistBarbie says:

I keep getting second-hand embarrassment when I hear people saying this video is somehow clever or insightful. Wow, a literal visual interpretation of a common idiom, how very high school art class.
(Sorry to be an insufferable douche about it, but Kanye really doesn’t deserve any credit for this garbage)

      • Kitten says:

Not insufferable at all. Honestly, the kids in my high school art class were more innovative and creative than this dude who fancies himself a ground-breaking *artiste*.

    • Reindeer says:

Robbie Williams did a MUCH better take on this theme, with his song “Rock DJ” and the subsequent video he made. That was a profound statement. Worth looking up the video on youtube.

Kanye West is the Lisa Frank of the art world.

    • Locke Lamora says:

I didn’t say it was profound, unique or ground breaking, I said it was a good commentary on the current situation in the world.

    • Michelle says:

I wonder why he didn’t put Beyoncé in this? I wonder how she would have reacted. Or not.

  11. lower-case deb says:

    Kanye’s “art”,
this is what i don’t get.
they are wax figures, inanimate, or look alikes, still not the real thing.
the only real person (who the tin says the person is) is Kim?
so everything Kanye has in terms of relationship—professional, personal, perceived—are fake? makebelieve?

    and they are all sleeping,
does that mean that they are only in Kanye’s mind? products of his fever dreams? something Sleep conjured up?

strangebedfellows, how real people controversial or otherwise, somehow managed to end up in the same bed. now thats an applaudable coup! it is when the performance art or whatever involves real people (eg Marina Abramovic’s or Yayoi Kusama’s parcipatory art works), but fake bedfellows… Kanye? sit down.

another contemporary art trope is when something is represented as an inanimate/stand-ins, it means high objectification of said object. eg the row of genitalia presented by sundry artists protesting the male gaze or crude traditional form statues and respresentations presenting the otherness and curio-objectification of the Other.

does this mean that Kanye objectifies the other sleepers? funny how the person who he directly objectifies the most in his life—Kim—is the only real one there.

contemporary painters have also inserted or create mash-ups between people of different walks of life, of different eras also, with more aplomb than this. far from being applaudable and original, West’s “art” seems lazy and derivative. it tries to shock but ends up lulling people to sleep.

how interestingly empty Monsieur West, no wonder noone cared. sort of like a cocky art student trying to pass his macaroni sculpture as a Bernini.

oh, ps: if anyone should be given most if not all the credit to this thing, then it should be the wax sculptors.
don’t tell me West sculpted those likenesses by himself?

    or maybe he did?

anyhow, seems i have also contradicted myself by writing such long rubbish over such trivial thing. won’t do it again. promise.

  12. QQ says:

Im so Annoyed at this, Like I get the message, Vulnerability, Strange Bedfellows, whatever high Fallutin’ Bed we made sh!t but here is what Rankles and Rankles hard in no Particular order…

    A) Don’t give Perma Victim Swift a leg to stand on with this, last thing we need is another sh*tty performance

    B) Did they even get Releases?

    C) I HATE HATE HATE how the camera Lingered too long on the women, women that he dont claim, Like sure whatever stay showing your wife and her kin, they fairly beg for it, you could even argue that Oh Riri is Down for showing her boobs, but I’d like a hard yes on HER determining that

D)Linger on the dudes, show their sad bits, why don’t you?

    E) Actually don’t I’m fairly skeeved and Im not even a prude

    F) F*ck This, The CD was GOOD on it’s own without these pressed Stunt queen crap vid

    G) I Hope they sue the Ripped Pants off of him off GP

    • Flowetchild says:

He used this type of stunt queen crap to promote his album so why would this be any different.

  13. Ninette says:

    never feed a throll…

  14. Tash says:

“…an aide for Bush told Us Weekly, ‘That’s not him.’” LOL! Ok, that was funny!

  15. Tate says:

Oh sweet North, I hope you survive your parents.

  16. Miss Jupitero says:

My own take on this is that it is not worth it to say anything at all unless the people pulled into this are willing to forge ahead and sue.And it is not worth it to sue unless you are certain you can win. I’m still not clear on how this would fly in court.

The worst punishment for Kanye would be for everyone to ignore him or snigger about the whole thing. Treat him like the joke that he is. He wants attention.

  17. Jade says:

Yea just keep quiet. I like Bush’s strategy! Everyone should just say that’s not me and laugh their heads off. He wants to rile people up and he says he doesn’t need these people to sell albums, to remain famous? Yeah right. If he’s as talented as he is, why rely on these antics? He’s a true K now. He wants a circus in court and to lament he’s being misunderstood and targeted as a black man (which undermines the real struggles of POC). His and the Ks’ fear is not bad press. They fear apathy and no press. They fear irrelevance.

  18. Sonia says:

It reminds me of those awful pictures Lindsey Lohan’s dad took of his current wife while she was passed out cold. He needs to be locked up and kept away from his children before he psychologically disrupts their souls.

  19. The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Kanye backed himself into a corner.

Too many ridiculous pathetic stunts that people realized it doesn’t matter what you say or do to him he’ll just go ahead with his crazy. So the celebrity world collectively shrugs and he’s left with his creepy real doll music video and no one giving him any attention.

It’s like the Kardashians, eventually you stunt-Queen yourself into total apathy from the audience you crave a response from.

    • Flowerchild says:

So true and the Kardashians are just about there. Kim 2.0 was their last stunt card, they have nothing left after that. Kim post don’t garner the same type of reaction any more and even Kylie post are drying up.

      • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Exactly. Women have been pouting their lips and posing provocatively for years, the only new things were the faces. Now that Kim and Kompany have shown every angle of their asses there’s not much for the public to care about.

      • Michelle says:

Unfortunately they will use their children for their next stunts.

  20. lile says:

I am wondering what Anna Wintour thinks of this as well. I am betting she is furious. I guess we will know at next year’s Met gala. We will see if they are on the guest list or not. Just goes to show what kind of person he is. AW stuck her neck out for Kvntye and gave him legitimacy in the fashion world. His styles sure weren’t going to get it for him. And this is how he repays her. He is a user. Which is why he fits so well into that family. Tay is otherwise occupied at the moment. She will stop responding to him altogether. He clearly has a very unhealthy obsession with her that only gets worse when she allows herself to be provoked by him. His wife should be concerned tho. SMH at the video that puts Tay on his righthand side. Hope he likes wax because that is as close as he will ever get to having her in bed.

    • anon123 says:

      “He is a user”

      Exactly.

      • me says:

Kanye is a big user, and so is Kim. When Caitlyn was getting a lot of media attention, Kim and Kanye were at her house in Malibu all the time (making sure the paps were there to take the pics of course). Then Rob was getting a lot of media attention and we say Kim shopping with Rob and Chyna (paps in hand of course). Who’s the next person to use? We never see the Kardashians with Caitlyn anymore. In fact she said for father’s day, Kendall and Kylie were the only ones she heard from.

    • Lilacflowers says:

And his video exposes all the fake Taylor’s bits (Amber’s too) while showing only his wife’s huge ass. He’s trying to assert ownership over Taylor’s body. That his wife, with all her claiming her sexuality BS, doesn’t see this as problematic and frightening says a lot about her. None of it good.

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Exactly. It didn’t skip my thoughts that Kanye out Taylor Seift right next to him in bed. Good luck with that one Kim.

  21. Josefina says:

What most saddens me is The Life of Pablo is actually a very good album. Kanye is talented, but he lets his stunt queen tactics, overblown ego and sheer stupidity cover it.

They should go ahead and keep ignoring him. All they’d get from suing him is money, and they already have lots of it. Being involved in a mediatic battle with Kanye is so exhausting, I wouldn’t bother.

  22. Brit says:

The video really didnt spark huge controversy like kanye was hoping, which is why he’s tweeting nonsense. That’s gotta kill him more than anything else imo

  23. anon123 says:

How is it Kanye’s fans don’t see that he is a bully and abuser?
The only way to stop him is to stop giving him money and attention.

    • Josefina says:

I know very few people who actually like Kanye. One, actually, and its easy to see why, because this guy, much like Kanye, has delusions of grandeur and thinks everyone goes after him because “he dares to think differently”, and gets all pissy and salty when people call him out on the inconsistencies of his politics.

Most of the people who like Kanye’s music acknowledge he’s a douchebag (like me) and then there’s a section of people who think he’s funny. But very few people actually take him seriously.

    • claire says:

Every once in a while I view the Kanye forum on Reddit. It’s entertaining to say the least. I mean, these people are crazy for Kanye. And, surprise surprise, most are also total misogynists. So there’s definitely kindred spirit going on there. There are also a lot of guys like the type Josefina describes – delusions of grandeur.

    • Flowerchild says:

It’s not just his fans. One minute you’ll get people calling him out and saying they are done with him and then the next minute those same people are down loading his latest Album.

  24. guest says:

    mr.kim is so thirstyyy

  25. Capepopsie says:

    People not bothering is golden!

  26. Ollie says:

This whole thing is creepy. Especially his obsession with Swift. Yeah he’s obsessed with other women too… Beyonce and Amber for example but with Taylor Swift it’s stalkerish. Somehow he seems to think he “owns” her.
The worst is if she sues him he gets what he wants and if she ignores him nothing will change. He won’t ever stop

    • Flowerchild says:

I disagree he’s more obsessed with B and Amber. He feels he owns Amber son because he made her “famous” not to mention he can’t to talking about after all these years. He has dressed his wife up in outfits multiple times that very closely resembles Beyonce and try’s to model his wife and their relationship after Jay and B’s .

  27. Michelle says:

Remember how people would say “Bye Felicia” from the movie “Friday” whenever they were dismissing someone that was of no importance to them? Can we please, please, please, start saying “Bye Kanye”?

  28. Katenotkatie says:

Lena Dunham responded with an op-ed in The Washington Post. For once I actually agree with her thoughts, but it is convenient that she’s tight with Taylor…or maybe Kaiser is making me a conspiracy theorist!

  29. serena says:

Because people are getting tired of his antics, also props to the celebs who didn’t engage with him. Leave him alone and sulking.
