The Duchess of Cambridge finally made it to Wimbledon this week! I was hoping she would step out before now, especially for some of the men’s matches, which are usually her favorite. But Kate came out for one of the women’s semifinals today, Serena Williams’ match (which Serena won!). The Countess of Wessex was also there, as were some assorted celebrities like Sophie Turner and Dame Maggie Smith.
Kate repeated her famous “banana” dress by Roksanda Ilincic, which she wore for the first time in 2014, during the Australia/New Zealand tour. I like this dress. It’s not terrible, I like the structure, I like that it’s a straight skirt. I even think she looks good in yellow, which is a difficult color for most women. The dress cost £900, so she better repeat it! Unfortunately, the nude heels are back – she paired her ensemble with £425 Rupert Sanderson’s nude pumps. Fug.
Kate was introduced to staffers at the All England Club and some random people at the game. At some point, she was asked about George and tennis, and she said that George is already playing and “he’s got a racket and he enjoys playing tennis.” She also said that she plays tennis with William but that it’s frustrating for her to play him because he’s a leftie. Southpaws will get you every time!

She’s not carrying a clutch! I’m shocked! There have been casual pap shots when she’s pictured with a shoulder bag, but I think this is the first time she’s done an event with a handbag with a strap.
I saw her in the Royal box this morning during the match but kept hoping the camera would go wide so we could see Barry Gibb and Sansa behind her. They are of more interest.
Does anyone really think she will be Queen in the future?
If the monarchy is still in place at the time William ascends to the throne, then yes she will be Queen. Just as she will be the next Princess of Wales when William is elevated to that title when the one comes & Charles is on the Throne. And yes I believe that Camilla will be styled Queen when that time comes

No, I really don’t think the monarchy will outlive Lizzy, and if it does, definitely not Charles. It’s one thing to feel a loyalty to a Queen who has served the people body and soul for generations – and speaking as an American, the concept of “The Queen of England” is such a part of our cultural lexicon it’s hard to imagine a world without it – But I don’t think the modern world really has a place for an ongoing Monarchy post-Lizzy. Let’s enjoy WK gossip now, because I give the monarchy 5 more years (spoken as someone with no expertise on this topic at all, just a moderately informed opinion).

Me too, although if I had my choice, it’d be Robin (RIP RG). The Bees Gees are the first group I really became a fan of, right before disco came in, so it was a real shock to hear “Main Course” after all their pop love songs and weird psychedelic stuff… but I loved it.
On topic, I adore yellow, but I don’t think this shade works well for DoLittle with her current hair color. It just looks off to me.
I was glad she came out for the women. After all of the comments from Indian Wells against women’s tennis and equal pay. its great for women’s tennis and athletics for her to come out.

She almost always completely sidelines women’s sporting events which is unbelievably frustrating considering how much influence she could *potentially* have on the media coverage if she actually put some effort in.

Wow! Nothing like calling someone out for their own body type . If she had “a stomach ” “big boobs” a big “ass”. And “thick legs”, would that suit you better?
I think gen was making truthful observations, Piper, not “calling someone” out on it because she doesn’t have hips, butt, etc. And she’s very much a “ruler” type body shape and from her face looks to be at a very low BF%. All true. Maybe she wants that look and strives for it, or maybe she doesn’t eat when she’s stressed, who the heck knows. Some days I’d love to look like that, but most days I’m just happy I’m healthy and fit into my clothes.
Piper, Kate once had a very enviable athletic build. She shrunk to current proportions through what I suspect are unhealthy means, some combination of overexercising and eating only lean protein (and in very tiny portions). Criticism of an eating disorder is not body shaming.
Gen, you are right. It’s not body shaming to comment on how incredibly, scarily thin she is. Look at the pictures of her!!! She is thin as a literal rail!! She is either sick or suffering from an eating disorder. I’m frightened by how skinny she is! Does no one in her family notice??? I can’t imagine what she looks like in a bathing suit!!

@Other Renee: Pshaw!! I have red hair and green is one of my favorite colors to wear! Purple and Navy blue are other faves. I look hideous in orange and yellow (ANY shade) tho, and don’t think I’ve owned anything red since I was about 4 yrs old. So, I also admire women who can pull off crazy bright colors.

New dress, old shoes. I am so f*ing tired of those damned flesh colored shoes Kate wears practically all the time. Kate is the only woman in the public eye who will not let go of these stupid things. Is it the same damned pair, or does she have a closet full of them? Even my boyfriend, who cares nothing about fashion, and who enjoys Celebitchy with me on occasion, noticed that Kate wears the same shoes over and over again. she looks so thin. generally i don’t appreciate comments on someone’s weight, but what’s up with her? it seems to get worse. i thought women with disordered eating often get better after having children, out of new found respect of what their bodies can do, shifting priorities and the love they develop for their kid’s healthy bodies that sort of rubs off on their self-image. the same can be said for many athletes, and athletics seem to be part of her daily routine. so is cooking. i really wonder what’s up here. william is a little biatch, so let’s just blame him 🙂

I don’t agree that being athletic and eating right/having a positive body image go hand in hand. There are many people that consistently expend more calories through exercise than what they consume without even realizing it. And this scenario is dangerous because those that are athletic think that they are succeeding in keeping their weight down/staying fit without realizing they are putting undue strain on their bodies. It doesn’t occur to them that they are actually living an anorexic lifestyle.
Don’t expect Kate to gain any weight for the next few decades. This is what she wants and this is what she will have. IMO, the best she’s looked since she got married was when she was pregnant. Her normal weight was before the engagement and she looked terrific then. Something has happened to her and we won’t know what it is for another generation or so.
We’ll know, Vava, if she ends up in the hospital or dead from this. Which, from how she looks, is a real possibility. What can she weigh? 105 pounds??

Ugh! White shoes are a big no! White shoes (except Keds) are the kiss of death in fashion. Perhaps shoes colored to match her dresses, but then everyone would say she’s spending too much money on dyeing perfectly good nude colored shoes. She can’t win.
It seemed as if last summer white shoes had their ‘moment’, but personally I could never get too enthused about them. If I wore this dress, I’d have on some patterned shoes that picked up the yellow and had other pops of color.

I reckon she is on a dairy free diet as Harry is supposed to be dairy free so dairy free and intense exercise no sugar she is stick thin. Look at the protruding vein on her arm that is weight barng exercises. which increases the metabolic rate. Yellow – bright colours tend to be worn by some women at Wimbledon but I was there last week on centre court and actually it’s the women who sit regally that you notice who normally don’t wear something that screams look at me.
