Taylor Swift didn’t pick up any VMA noms, despite having 3 eligible videos

wenn22818269

At this time last year, it felt like the world was piling on Taylor Swift. Sound familiar? Almost one year ago exactly, the 2015 VMA nominations came out, and Taylor got ten nominations, most of them for her I-Hate-Katy-Perry anthem, “Bad Blood.” But that wasn’t why people were piling on Taylor – we were talking about her because she inserted herself into a conversation Nicki Minaj was having about how MTV consistently undervalues black artists, and how black artists are less likely to be nominated for the bigger awards. When everyone turned on Taylor last year, she quickly changed strategies, calling Minaj personally to apologize and then offering a public apology as well. Minaj and Swift buried the hatchet so thoroughly, in fact, that they joined forces for a song medley at the beginning of the 2015 VMAs.

Last year, Taylor also won a few VMAs, but probably the most notable thing to happen during last year’s telecast is that Taylor and Kanye West very publicly made peace. She presented Kanye with his Video Vanguard Award and she made a very gracious and kind speech. Then, just six months later, all hell broke loose and now we’re in the midst of another Swift-West Cold War. Why bring up this history lesson? Because I think MTV might have chosen a side. And they didn’t choose Team Swifty!!! The 2016 VMA nominations came out on Tuesday and Taylor wasn’t nominated for ANYTHING. Nothing. Not Video of the Year, Not Best Female Video, nothing.

Taylor Swift received zero nominations, a surprising turn of events for the 26-year-old singer, who led the pack of honorees at last year’s ceremony with 10 nominations for “Bad Blood.” In the past year, the six-time VMA winner has released three music videos — “Wildest Dreams,” “Out of the Woods” and “New Romantics” — from her latest album, 1989.

Although the cinematic “Wildest Dreams” visual debuted during the 2015 VMA preshow, the network neglected to recognize it nearly a year later. “Out of the Woods” also landed a high-profile premiere on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in December 2015, but it was overlooked, too.

[From Us Weekly]

“Wildest Dreams” was the neo-colonialist nightmare video where Swift and Scott Eastwood played lovers in a 1950s-themed film set in an African country. “Out of the Woods” was not a good video either – that was the one where she was running in the wilderness or something. I didn’t even remember the “New Romantics” video, but I looked it up and it was just footage from her tour. None of those singles or videos had the pop-culture power of “Bad Blood” or “Blank Space,” but if this was a different year, I do think Taylor would have gotten a handful of nominations for something, right? This was a choice made by someone at MTV to focus on Beyonce, Adele and… Kanye West, who got two nominations, including one for Video of the Year for “Famous.” Even Calvin Harris got nominated (for the song Taylor Swift wrote/co-wrote). Maybe it was just a choice by MTV to make the night about something other than Kanye vs Taylor, or Taylor vs. Everyone Else, or The Taylor Show. I hope Taylor is keeping a list of all of the people who have pissed her off in the past month. Payback is coming, Swifty-Style.

    Haha

  2. Taiss says:

Kanye’s “famous” video got nominated? For what? those creepy ass dolls?

Rihanna got snubbed “bitch better have my money” should have been nominated.

    • Pegacorn says:

Rihanna should be the one nominated, not Kanye. At least with Rihanna we got boobs and a bloody wacky video. With kanye, you got a naked Donald Trump and Bill Cosby

    • Sophie says:

      Awful taste… downright abusive.

    • Elisa the I. says:

      Spot on.
At least Rihanna got nominated for Work in Best Collaboration (sic!)

    • Luca76 says:

      Pure misogyny celebrated. Disgusting

    • Naya says:

In one, a narcissist has a two minute creepy video session with naked rubber dolls made after famous people while snore sound effects play in the background. In the other, a character tortures her thieving accountants naked wife over his crimes (because you know, women be mere extensions of their husbands) all while singing the pimp anthem made famous by Kat Williams. Both sickening as hell.

      • Taiss says:

At least rihanna had a storyline, unlike most videos lately.

Plus we watch horror movies, TV shows, where people are killed, where people are kidnapped/beaten because of a loved one, those movies end up winning awards, oscars but a music video is a problem?

      • Wren says:

Why should a music video have a storyline? That seems so weird to me. Musicians are usually not great actors anyway, which leads to some super awkward moments.

I think both videos and their messages suck, but at least Rihanna doesn’t claim to be a genius whose every fart is high art.

      • TJ says:

Yes!! Totally agree!! This post all day.

      • Dez says:

DJ Quick made bitch better have my money famous and before him Too Short, 2live crew etc, music wise. Blackxplotation movies from the 70s made it famous. Kat williams did not…maybe to white people but that sentence you said was false. I’ll see myself out.

    • Pepper says:

Rihanna was snubbed, but last year. BBHMM was eligible for 2015.

    • Jade says:

The BBHMM song was ripped off from another artist (just Brittany), the minute that got exposed the video and song stopped being played.

    • claire says:

      I don’t know, but it’s disgusting.
It’s probably good for Taylor to not get nominated and not go. Don’t give Kanye yet another opportunity to act like a psycho and stalk her.

      • Cinder says:

LOL! I didn’t know she would’ve to sit right next to Kanye and as a practically an infant, wouldn’t have the leg strength to run away and wouldn’t have the money to hire security to protect herself from him. tee hee. More like, a nearly 30 year old woman can’t go to an award show because she doesn’t have the balls to face the people she lied on and her own fans that she manipulated. Boo hoo. And any other time you know she would go under “#supportingmyfriends!!”. This is all about wound licking plus the fact that MTV is took a side and isn’t not nominating her.

      • Nope says:

Taylor has dragged this ~narrative~ along to be able to play the victim. Neither of them will let it die. He’s not stalking her.

    • I Choose Me says:

ITA! Can’t believe that pile of dreck got nominated.

  3. Aussie girl says:

It’s really unlike MTV to not want the drama of Tay/Kayne/Kim but it does appear that they are purposely not nominating the golden child. I honestly think she wouldn’t have turned up anyway, still busy licking her wounds.

    • Zapp Brannigan says:

But MTV still gets press and by not nominating her, it’s win win for them. Give her the nod, oh the possibility of scandal, don’t give her the nod, oh she was snubbed her career is in ruins, whats not to love.

      • Aussie girl says:

I suppose so. I just thought that they would get more press and viewers for the awards for the possibility of them all crossing paths. As in they might get press now but how does that drive ratings for the actual award show.?

      • Lynnie says:

Beyoncé might be performing, and that’s an instant ratings boost. And I’m sure they’ll be a “feud” between here and now that’ll act as hype for the show.

      • Aussie girl says:

Lynnie I didn’t think of the Beyoncé angle and with so many noms she will most likely perform.

      • Wren says:

There may have been some negotiations between MTV and the teams for all these artists. They’re honoring Beyonce this year, so maybe team B said “she’ll be there but no Swift/West drama”. These aren’t independently decided awards here. They work with the artists, pay attention to trends in public opinion, and decide on a “theme”. Clearly this year’s theme is Beyonce.

      • Aussie girl says:

I was reading some insider gossip thing ( can’t remember what site) that said basically ( MTV Aawrds) it is all organised before, the stars know about their award. They pretty much go up and collect it ,head offstage, out the back door and go. That’s if they are not performing or picking up another award. The idea that they negoated this all with Beyoncé does make sense. And Bee does have the power to do so.

    • kay says:

aussie girl, i seriously doubt she has any wounds to lick. She has a closet full of awards so i think she will be just fine.

  4. Kate says:

Lol, I forgot about the extreme cameltoe jumpsuit.

They’ve given her awards for some really dull and trite videos and any other year they’d throw her a nomination or 5 just to ensure she attends, so yeah, they’ve picked a side.

    • my3cents says:

That terrible baby onesie can only compete with Paltrows flesh colored vajay jay onesie.
      Both are insufferable.

    • Secret squirrel says:

the blue jumpsuit is awful I agree. The only thing uglier is Yeezy’s fashion range, but only just…

  5. amukay says:

Delicious. I hope Kanye wins for Famous, if only to enjoy the aftermath.

  6. kittenhotel says:

I’m sure TS will be crying into her millions.

    • Tiffany says:

Money has nothing to do with it. The woman is a egomaniac and expects everything to go her way. This has to sting.

    • Cinder says:

No offense, but the ‘crying into her millions’ cliche is most of the time wishful projection. Taylor was born rich, she’s always had millions of dollars at her disposal to do what she wants and when you constantly have something endlessly at your disposal, it means a lot less and gets old, quickly. It’s like an average joe retorting “yeah, I’ll be crying into my awesome Hanes white socks!” I really doubt it provides her with the emotional support you speak of at a time like this. Especially because; She had videos she could’ve been nominated for, her famous friends sure as heck won’t miss it just cause she feels bad, Kanye gets to go to the show and from all Taylor’s ‘dancing in the audience videos we laugh at, she really enjoys these shows, so she still gets the short end of the stick.

  7. shelly says:

She has amazing legs, I’m jealous of them, but wtf is she wearing ?

  8. Bishg says:

I suspect her team has something to do with it. They probably wanted to avoid a Swift/Kanye meeting. I think they’ve been reading our posts and comments because Taylor has been laying unusually low (which is a good strategy after the fiasco of the past weeks)!!
In my opinion, Taylor’s videos are super boring and unimaginative. She is always at the front and centre of the narration, dancing awkwardly and making weird faces, over-enunciating every lyrics, floating around in amazing dresses and makeup, playing all the roles for herself……. They are pretty much all the same. So, no, she didn’t deserve a nomination this year, just like she has never deserved one IMO, but we all know it’s not about real awards and talent anyway…

    • Christina says:

I was wondering how far down I’d have to scroll to find someone else who thinks this… This is Taylor Swift we’re talking about. I imagine her team told MTV that she wouldn’t be part of the show in any capacity so to omit any of her nominations. Remember, she’s trying to remove herself from this “narrative”? Has no one paid attention to the way celebs work? Of course she’s not going to participate in any of this right now and I’m sure this gives her a sense of control again. She’s playing the doting actors girlfriend, not the popstar right now.

  9. A. Key says:

Sick of her and all the inane, pointless, mindnumbing non-stories around her. Someone please make her go away for good. She’s got enough millions to never have to work again, just do the world a favor and spend the rest of your life on a beach sucking pasty British faces.

  10. Pegacorn says:

Her album was released in 2014. She won everything and anything that can be won for that album last year. Why the hell should she be nominated when she doesn’t have any new material?

Sure, there are 3 new videos but they’re old song. Those songs didn’t win awards last year, why would they win awards now?

If she doesn’t release any music this year and she doesn’t get nominated next year, will they still say she got snubbed? Smh

    • Nicole says:

The nominations are for videos. The videos were released in the last year so they were eligible. That’s how it works

    • Crumpet says:

      Probably.

    • noway says:

I know she may have had a few songs eligible, but I agree I hate when the award shows milk an album from one artist over several years, especially when they were as big as 1989 was. Taking the entire Taylor story out of it, I hope this is a trend for VMA’s and others, because I remember thinking many times why is this old song nominated?

  11. paolanqar says:

I really feel like TS needs to go away for a while and come back in no rush.

  12. Betti says:

This is an industry slapdown for her. It must rub that Kanye and THAT video were nominated. But of course the patron saint of victimhood will make it all about how people r being mean to the poor white pop princess. It’s also a clap back for the sub racist crap coming from her team.

It also proves she and her team r not well liked in the industry. Her parents r not nice people to work with as they r very much ur crazy stage parents who bought her her career. That’s why these feuds r real for her. She didn’t work for it like everything else by starting at the bottom. Daddy bought an independent and financially struggling record company. She’s a mediocre talent at best and would never have made it without Daddy’s money.

    • Pegacorn says:

Someone sounds jealous of the rich and privileged. Lol. Joking

    • FingerBinger says:

It doesn’t prove she isn’t liked. Swift has multiple awards including mtv awards. She got snubbed but you’re reading too much into it.

    • claire says:

It’s funny you consider HER the saint of that. When Kanye writes songs, tweets, rants, etc., nonstop, complaining he’s not getting his due, that none of us will recognize him as the next Steve Jobs, Walt Disney and whatever other delusion he has. That he considers himself the victim for his attacks on other people. That every time he faces a consequence for his shit behavior, we have to hear him whine about it forever. That every industry, that he has no talent for, but thinks he should get high esteem for anyway, is rebuking him because they’re haterz. Which then brings us to his wife and her family, who screw over people and businesses all the time, yet never take a single ounce of accountability for it. It’s just all because others are jealous or whatever they whine and tell themselves.

But yes, Taylor. Patron Saint of Victimhood.

      • vauvert says:

Amen, Claire. I have been watching this from the sidelines and not commenting much but I am amazed at how quickly people revel in the situation, conveniently forgetting that Kanye has acted like a lunatic and mysogynistic a**hole so. many. times… and been given permission to do so repeatedly. And now he is being nominated for that disgusting video? Wow, the world sure has weird standards. Let’s get back at Taylor (who gets negative comments and is “doing everything for press” even though she has always been nice to her fans, always been involved with charities and who, as far as I know, was the only celeb to actually donate cash to Ke$ha, not just tweet her support) by nominating a person who only a few short months ago was being blasted – rightfully so – on this board and many others.

And it must be the same people who think honouring Kanye with a nomination is a good thing that are also conveniently forgetting that his wife and her family have lied time and again, and will likely continue to do so as long as the bathroom selfies of their surgically altered faces and bodies continue to bring in cash.

But yeah, Taylor is the problem – because her parents and/or Kanye made her successful. Not her hard work, not her ability to sell records and concert tickets. BTW, yes I am aware her family is wealthy and she had an advantage getting her career started. You know, like a lot of stars have offspring who are all “models”… and how the children of rich families always have a head start. But many end up like the Hilton boy – doing drugs and being obnoxious. Same for teen stars – look at Bieber, look at Miley’s antics, look at LeAnn (somebody on this site keeps comparing Taylor to her, and it makes me laugh. How in the world do you compare a deluded, has been country singer who can’t fill a third rate casino bar to Taylor?). Taylor has been given a great start – and she has made the most of it.

Now go ahead and accuse me of being a Taylor stan or on her payroll (I wish). I don’t buy almost any music, and I haven’t really been a fan of anyone since Dire Straits but I would much rather listen to Taylor on the radio than someone like Kanye. Perhaps I am just not “artistic” enough to understand his genius.

      • Capella says:

claire and vauvert – Thank you … my mind was imploding with the same thoughts. Thank you for articulating quite well what seems so glaringly obvious!!! … and I too am not a Taylor stan or on her payroll, nor do I know any of her songs by name.

      • Phoebe says:

Ugh- I wish people would stop saying it was her “hard work” that made her famous. You try but you cannot dismiss the privileged that led to that success. When you are born rich, your daddy buys the record company, you get lessons and voice coaches and autotuned and you write songs that come straight from your journal for tweenagers and then tour in a private plane for a couple months a year – that is not hard work.

My grandad spent 10 hours a day in a mine and walked to work. My friend is a social worker who dedicates her life to helping women and children get out of poverty/abuse yet has to have another job in order to pay her bills. I know I have gone to the other extreme here- but in no way, shape or form is what Taylor Swift does HARD WORK.

      • pk says:

I agree with what you are saying vauvert!
Taylor may have had it coming, but that doesn’t make it okay to bully the bully.

  13. Naya says:

All awards are driven by politics but the VMAs are notoriously about whose agents negotiated best and who is willing to show up to actually collect the award. I think Taylor didnt want in this year. A nomination would have led to a news cycle reharshing her snakey moments and she really wants the world to forget about that part.

Imagine the news frenzy if she was nominated and didnt attend. Or was nominated and attended only to lose to Beyonce. Or was nominated and attended and won against Lemonade. Or was nominated and attended and Kanye won with Famous. Or was nominated and attended and Calvin Harris won for their song together. That telecast would be analysed for her reactions till the end of time. Her none nomination is HER PR move.

    • Pegacorn says:

She loses either way. She’s stuck. Doomed if you do. Doomed if you don’t

    • als says:

      Agree.
I find it hard to believe that an industry so subservient to Taylor’s shenanigans suddenly decided to grow a pair of huge balls and reject her.

    • Grace says:

Oh yes. And it will take FOREVER to go through her whoever-has-pissed-her-off-last-month list. That’s album material until the end of time and she will be talking about how and what people take away from her for years to come. #Taypocalypse! Where can I get a bunker to hide?

    • Ms. Turtle says:

Of all the theories, this is the most plausible.

    • paolanqar says:

      Spot on.
Plus she doesn’t have a skin thick enough to face all the crap that has hit the fan lately and all the people involved, at the same time in the same venue.

    • OrigialTessa says:

This is probably exactly what happened. Although, it’s the second year of the album. B side tracks at best going up against new material by Adele, Rihanna, and Beyonce. It’s also really possible she just wasn’t nominated.

    • Crumpet says:

Smart analysis there Naya. Plus, as pegacom pointed out, she had nothing to be nominated for (also her move).

    • Bonzo says:

I’m on board with this theory. Makes a lot of sense from a PR standpoint, though she strikes me as not the type of person to avoid the spotlight altogether. I wonder what she’ll do to make sure people don’t forget her in the meantime? Get engaged, perhaps??

    • Fiorella says:

I agree . And the most memorable and decent of those songs/videos was a bit controversial (the one set in Africa) I don’t think she wants the spotlight on it especially now. Nor do I think it’s special enough to win

    • bonzo says:

For what it’s worth, Lainey took the same position. Taylor’s team didn’t submit any of her subpar videos which are guaranteed to lose against Beyonce & Adele this time around.

“Because Single Ladies. A song and video that kicked off a universally recognised dance move, an established pop culture moment, and you can barely remember the one that ended up winning. “

      Sweet shade.

    • PatriotsPower27 says:

@NAYA Wow, a commenter that isn’t letting their emotions get in the way of facts. These gossip sites need to be careful on the pro-Kanye/anti-Tay spin because the tides are turning in favor of Taylor now (check Daily Mail). Thanks for your insights.

  14. Jane says:

I completely forgot what this article was all about when I saw that ridiculous get-up she’s wearing!

    • Christin says:

That must have been during her ‘let me get papped outside the gym in couture’ phase.

It looks a bit painful to wear. Scratchy. Wedge-y.

  15. Locke Lamora says:

The Calvin Harris video didn’t deserve a nom. A stupid video for a shitty song.

  16. Kimma says:

Unfortunately, the tide is turning for Taylor. I think she created her own demise and now she’s going to become one of those people we love to hate..Paris Hilton, Lyndsay Lohan etc…one of those people who is going to have a very hard time digging herself out of this one..it isn’t going away anytime for sure. She created her own enemies, and karma is a bitch…

  17. K.C. says:

Perhaps voters came to the conclusion that if one is engaging in Tiddlesbanging, they don’t require any other awards.

Taylor had her turn last year. This year Beyonce will probably sweep. She’ll survive. If I were Taylor, I don’t think I’d want to attend an award ceremony where Kanye’s video of my wax naked body was being celebrated.

    • Sophie says:

      Deleted.

    • A. Key says:

She’s probably scared Kanye would’ve said/done something live and she’s mortified that if he won she’d have had to fake smile for the camera, and her latest piece hasn’t taught her enough of acting basics for that one.
Better to sit this one out. Hell she probably orchestrated not being nominated.

    • Crumpet says:

“Perhaps voters came to the conclusion that if one is engaging in Tiddlesbanging, they don’t require any other awards.”
      😀

  18. MissW says:

    That outfit…why?

  19. Tobbs says:

Ugh, I hate that the famous video got a nomination.

  20. Pegacorn says:

    Mob mentality and crab mentality

  21. Sarah says:

I can not believe they nominated That god damn awful famous video. But so glad That becky with the bad lies and her colonialist video are staying home. She can stay home with not so lively and tant about the plight of being a talentless white woman in hollywood.

  22. pikawho? says:

I haven’t watched a music award show in years, does Taylor still do that “aww shucks! my team totally didn’t buy this award for me!” face when she wins? If only for that reason I am OK if nominations dry up for her. The Kristen Wiig impersonation is forever in my heart.

    • Lynnie says:

I think she did it at the Billboard awards maybe? I can’t remember which one it was, but she was wearing a white jumpsuit, and she even roped Calvin into the whole “aw shucks” thing too 😂. Hopefully she’ll have a new reaction when she reappears.

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

      Every. Single. Time.

    • Cinder says:

Did she tell Kristen she was going to hell or no?

  23. akua says:

Lol, her team did not submit anthing…at this point, the best she can in ignore this and come back next year all two.

  24. Gena says:

Taylor needs to go away. Marry Tom. Move to England. Start a mommy blog and get her fill of judging others that way. Just. Go. Away. Literally everyone is sick of her.

    • Christin says:

Maybe LeAnn + Goop = Taylor?

      • Little Darling says:

OMG that is the best equation I have ever seen!! Holy crap so spot on. HAHAHA.

      • Christin says:

The mommy blog suggestion just clicked, thanks to @Gena.

She ticks a lot of LeAnn boxes lately, yet not quite that level of clueless passive aggressiveness. It’s more Goopesque.

  25. Scarlet Pimpernel says:

TS’s PR people should get her to take some time to revamp her image, e.g. get involved in some charity work, become a UN ambassador for a few years or something, basically work on projects unrelated to the pop world. Ed Sheeran has managed to disappear, so can she.

  26. seesittellsit says:

She’ll take it as a Sign that it’s time to turn to marriage to a really classy guy and babies and change the narrative entirely (but with just as much riveted attention from the public) to The Things That Really Matter. Maybe she and Tom will be godparents to Blake’s new addition. I can just see it now . . .

    • Pegacorn says:

Well, Hiddles is a member of the Vestey family. That’s posh enough. Not sure if the Vestey’s would be happy, but atleast she isn’t a gold digger. And she’s old money too.

    • K.C. says:

Yup. The stars have aligned for her to dive into the next phase of life. She needs to change the narrative, and I’m not sure what other option she has other than to grow up.

    • Betti says:

I think she’ll try acting, most other pop starlets eventually go down that route and am sure she’s thinking a role with her thespian BF. Thou considering the backlash and ‘bad blood’. Etween her, her team and the industry am not sure HW would want to be tainted by her antics plus I don’t think she’d last 2 mins with the HW drama queens.

  27. shelly says:

I think she should marry Prince Harry, its the only avenue open to her now.

    (joking)

  28. CidySmiley says:

I think it’s because she made a messy show-biz beginners mistake. I also think that people are going to be less willing to work with her because she could turn on them. I would be worried about that, in the least. I don’t think anyone is necessarily team swift right now just because she was actually in the wrong. And despite all the “ew gross famous got nominated” yeah. It did. The video might not be your cup of tea but it has a really symbolic message that’s actually the point of all of this celebrity gossip. All of these celebrities are in bed together. Literally and figuratively.

    • Pegacorn says:

You have it the other way around. People would less willing to get involved with Kanye because his wife is creeping in the shadows with a video cam, ready to record anything juicy.

      • respect says:

I agree that Kim may have made a huge mistake. Swift aside, Kanye works with powerful, famous, image controlling people. I have always thought that Beyonce and Anna Wintour were not huge Kim fans. Now, if they know that his wife is likely to go rogue and that every word they have spoken to him is recorded, they may distance themselves from him. People talk about swifts effect on tom’scareer but Kim is putting Kanye’s at risk. His best work was years ago and he needs the goodwill of the peoplewho have always supported him to get through the low creative period he has had.

      • joanne says:

i agree,Pegacorn. Kanye has really proved that he’s a liability. who wants to be taped in a work situation? who could be candid with him now?

      • CidySmiley says:

I don’t know if I nexessarily believe that mostly because it’s really obvious that if you do anything with the Kardashians one would kind of expect it to be exposed. That’s their whole life, exposure. To go into something thinking anything would remain secret is naive. I think Kim personally recorded that because they know Taylor’s record. Which says something in itself.

      • Flowerchild says:

        @Pegacorn

Ya no People knew who the Kardashian are before this. This behavior is nothing new and will not affect Kanye. I don’t think this will stop people from working with Taylor ether.

I believe it will make people more conscious of how they do business with both of them. For example, with Taylor I and see people wanting document proof of any agreement they might have. They now know she will throw them under the bus is the situation suits her.

With Kanye people I see people being more aware of what they say. They know if you try to screw him over he will show the receipts.

    That onesie is dreadful

  30. Bee says:

No nominations is code for “Please don’t turn up”.

  31. MI6 says:

Team Taylor would have everyone believe she’s in total control of the narrative, but I don’t. Can’t imagine her turning down a trophy in any form – gong, boyfriend, etc.
Maybe the work wasn’t award-worthy and her recent antics contributed to the non-noms.
Too bad, because the drama would’ve been off the SCALE.

    • Flowerchild says:

I agree with most of what you said here. I don’t want to make the comparison, but I don’t think Kanye work was award worthy I felt the same when Britney Spears got nominated.

She would move mountains to display her relationship on the red carpet.

    • Betti says:

Taylor lives for award shows – if this hadn’t happened she would have been there regardless if she wasn’t nominated.

  32. PrincessMe says:

Reading the nominations (on the Beyonce post) I just gave myself the giggles picturing Taylor Swift pulling a Kanye if Calvin Harris and Rihanna win. “Imma let you finish…”

Don’t know why that popped into my head. I need some coffee.

  33. Anna nuttall says:

How can she seriously think that leotard is a good look for her. In every photos all I see is her resting bitch face. I prefer it when she was more country then pop.

  34. whatthewhat says:

lol i forgot how much she resembles a malnourished baby in that jumpsuit. good stuff! GO YE!

  35. me says:

I can’t believe Kanye’s video for “Famous” was nominated. It was horrible. Also, why does MTV even have music video awards when they no longer play music videos on their channel???

  36. Hannah says:

Calvin picked up 3 noms. Taylor’s throwing iPhones into the wall as we speak! 😂

  37. HK9 says:

What??!!?? Taylor didn’t get a nomination? Poor poor baby.

  38. KatM says:

Her stylist should be let go. Ursula dresses in one of two ways. It is the androgynous fembot or like she just walked out of a Talbots.

  39. Isobel says:

Lol it’s kind of funny because her ex boyfriend got quite a few nominations. Guess the tide is turning. I am sure she will be back though! She’s got new names in her burn book now, gotta write some new songs lol!

  40. Rayya Kirt says:

What’s making me entirely crazy about society is: I’m not certain if she’s being judged by her music or by her personal life. I know what I think. But I have a music preference. And liked some songs of hers in general. But, in life, the world can get vindictive. I am not sure what would happen if Taylor stayed under the radar the last year. Perhaps she WOULD get some nomination. It’s the Ann Hathaway thing. It stops becoming about talent. I dislike that. If it IS that. It’s similar to when a person states they are attractive and everyone subsequently calls them ugly for their nerve. But, if a person calls themselves unattractive, everyone rushes to say they look great. Listen, I agree with the latter. I am all about building someone up as we all have dark days. Or years. But…aside why be a bully when someone is confident AND not hurting anyone? I teach my son to be confident AND nice. Come on.

    • Betti says:

But she is hurting other people with her behaviour. Just ask Camilla Belle who she basically called a s**t in one song for daring to be the next GF after her when her ex dumped her. What about that poor dancer who got dragged when they took a better paying job with Katy Perry – that would have affected their career negatively.

Nothing wrong with being confident but she’s proven she’s a bully – is consistently writing songs trashing people the work of a nice person?

    • sarah says:

Someone should have taught the heir of slytherin to be nice and maybe drop the midly racist narrative. Tay tay Will always be popular but she pissed of a lot of black people with her pr and we are enjoying her little stumble

  41. TotallyBiased says:

No snub–her team never submitted the videos because she never planned on attending. And all of this was decided long before the end of Calvin Hobbes and the Kimye “she lied but we don’t have her on tape saying it’s okay to call her a bitch so we’ll release a bunch of snippets and dazzle people into taking our side” tour.
And given that ‘Famous’ is nominated, I won’t be watching. Just give all the awards to Bey and call it a night.

  42. Bxhal says:

Im a Taylor fan in that i love her songwriting and i honestly think thats the only thing she should be winning awards for. Her videos are boring af and the only reason they get many views is because her fans (like alll popstar fans) send out messages to each other to view the vids across multiple browsers everyday in the first week of its official release. Beliebers do it too. Secondly, i think her dad buys her most of her awards. Even Lauryn Hill and Amy Winehouse dont have those many awards. Honestly, i think her dad just says ok mtv how much do you want me to invest in your company? Ok ill cough that up but youve got to give my daughter 30 awards in the next 4 years. And its a done deal. Its shocking to me, artists who used to diss Taylor back in the day are all friendly now. Rock artists. I remember Foo fighters never liked her and now their lead is singing her praises. Madonna shades everybody – everybody – but she praised Taylor and her album. Aretha shaded Taylor in her interview, the very next week she was singing Taylor a happy birthday. Wtf? Honestly, its all too creepy and phony to be a coincidence. I think she finds out which companies these guys are running in the background or which causes they support then she invests there or she donates. Smart lady but weird trying to make everyone like you.

I do think Taylor told the vmas, i never wish to see Kanye again and if hes coming im not. Plus i wish to be excluded from this narrative. Bye Vmas.

Stilll i love Tay. Her songs at least.

  43. Bxhal says:

    😂

” I find it hard to believe that an industry so subservient to Taylor’s shenanigans suddenly decided to grow a pair of huge balls and reject her.” — ALS.

    SO TRUE.
