Jaden Smith had a reason to attend the VMAs. One, Jaden is obsessed with Drake, and Drake is in turn obsessed with Rihanna, so obviously Jaden had to show up. Two, Jaden is promoting his new TV show, The Get Down. Three, he’s a fashion guy. I’m actually surprised that he didn’t walk the carpet in a complete womenswear outfit, because that’s one of his causes: that all clothes should be worn by all people. Jaden’s VMA ensemble was by Undercover. It was classic Jaden, in that only he could really pull it off and make it look interesting. Well, maybe Tilda Swinton could have worn this?

The Final Five – the five female Olympic gymnasts – were supposed to make an appearance together, but Gabby Douglas had some kind of medical issue and she was hospitalized yesterday. So only four gymnasts came out: Aly Raisman, Simone Biles, Laurie Hernandez and Madison Kocian. I love these young women! And they all got hugs from Beyonce too, when they presented her with an award. Aly’s dress is Hayley Paige.

I saw some shade for Tinashe’s Juan Carlos Obando jumpsuit, but I didn’t really understand why? I thought she looked really pretty. The jumpsuit was a little bit too big, that was the only real issue.

Naomi Campbell is Naomi Campbell, so of course she had to attend the VMAs AND have a costume change. She walked the carpet in the Brandon Maxwell mint minidress which was really not that great or flattering. It makes her look so short-waisted!! Naomi was also showing off the new Pat McGrath Real Lust 004 glitter lip kit. Now you know! She changed into the white dress after the carpet.

Tove Lo wore Dion Lee and metallic kicks. I actually love this ensemble. She’s not known as some sexy pop-tart, so she went with something that looked sort of comfortable.
