Tom Hiddleston is ‘expecting to win’ the Emmy, but he won’t thank Swifty

wenn22160804

Tom Hiddleston was photographed over the weekend in Australia – go here to see the photos. Apparently, he had a spa day by himself. He doesn’t look that much different in the photos where he’s leaving the place, so my guess is that he didn’t spend hours getting mud wraps, a facial, a mani/pedi and more. But he wanted to pamper himself a little bit, especially ahead of next weekend’s Emmy Awards. Tom did get nominated for his work on The Night Manager, and it is my sincere hope that Benedict Cumberbatch wins the Emmy and doesn’t even show up for the show, which is what happened the last time Bendy won. No, in truth, I think Courtney B. Vance has a lock on this Emmy, but according to Hollywood Life, Tommy just KNOWS he’s going to win.

Tom Hiddleston, 35, received his first nomination EVER for his performance in The Night Manager, so obviously he’s super psyched about attending the Emmy Awards on Sept. 18.

“He is expecting to win,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “He can’t wait, it’s like a kid waiting for Christmas morning!” But, Tom is worried that everyone will only be interested in his recent split with Taylor Swift. Our source explained, “He knows that people are going to ask him the Taylor question throughout the night, but he is putting his focus on the night and the possibilities that could come from it.”

Tom portrayed Jonathan Pine in the hit AMC miniseries, which received major buzz for landing 12 Emmy nominations! Wow. Even though it’s a huge team effort, fans couldn’t help but wonder if he would end up thanking his former flame if he won — since T-Swift could have been a source of inspiration.

“Not a chance in hell,” the insider revealed to us EXCLUSIVELY. “He will not mention anything about her in any acceptance speech. There is no time for outside drama on a night that might never happen again for him.”

[From Hollywood Life]

While many hoped – before the Great Tiddlesplit of 2016 – that Taylor would be Tom’s Emmy date and that we would have a very merry Emmy Tiddlebanging, that’s not going to happen, obviously. But what are the chances that Tom will attend the Emmys alone? In the past, he’s gone to big awards shows solo (the BAFTAs), but I kind of wonder if he’ll bring his mom or his sister as a date. And that would help to soften some of the red carpet questions about Taylor, because you know they will be coming. Also: Tom doesn’t have to worry about thanking Taylor during his speech. He will not be making a speech.

  1. Betti says:

But why would he? Did she write the screenplay or a line in the book? Or did she ghost write the soundtrack under an alias?

  2. Nicole says:

Well did she do the acting for him? Write the show? No? Then she deserves nothing. This story is such BS lol

    • mar_time says:

This screamed Taylor PR to me…how was she a source of inspiration if he filmed the show before he met her??? Also the first and last lines are shady “his first nomination EVER” “a night that might never happen for him again”… this totally didn’t come from his side, the whole thing makes him look bad. God swifty’s a B 🐍

  3. jferber says:

Taylor has got to break this streak of bad luck with user/loser boyfriends. Ouch.

    • Escondista says:

You know….there seems to be one common denominator for all of these users and losers.

      • seesittellsit says:

@Escondista – THIS . . . but it shall remain nameless, and as Taylor is no fool (most people in show biz really do know who is and who ain’t), she is clearly selecting them because of that common denominator . . . as we say back where I come from: If you spot it, you got it.

Assuming jferber was being ironic. But on the offchance not: hon, “luck” had nothing to do with it.

      • delorb says:

        @Escondista,

So it’s her fault that the guys she dated (ahem) had feet of clay? This is the same claptrap that is leveled at Halle Berry. And all because she didn’t choose wisely. Not because those guys were losers. And FYI, Tom doesn’t have a great track record in this department either. He is a 35-year-old, never been married man. So as I said elsewhere, is he a denominator too? Is he solely to blame for his past romances flaming out?

    • paranormalgirl says:

I’m not sure I consider Tom Hiddleston a user or a loser. I’m not his biggest fan, by any means, but he had a career of some note before Taylor Swift, managed to get nominated for an Emmy without her help, and really, his association with her only made him look dopey. He got nothing out of dating her. She, however, probably got a couple songs out of it.

      • Lana 567 says:

@ paranormalgirl I don’t think Tom used Taylor it’s not like he was some nobody people new him as the Loki character and now the night manager. I think he still would’ve been nominated for an Emmy. He gave a solid performance. I do think Taylor used him as a way to show people that she had moved on from Calvin Harris. She didn’t want people thinking she was pathetic. Tom liked the attention but probably quickly realized how stupid he looked wearing an I heart ts shirt and whoring out their relationship for the press.

      • delorb says:

        @paranormalgirl,

He got tons of media just by being at her side. Prior to that, few people knew who he was or even cared. Now he’s on the media’s radar (some think for the wrong reasons) and all because of Taylor. IMO, the question should be what did SHE get out of being seen with him….

    • Kate says:

it isn’t bad luck. There is a common denominator here

    • Flowerchild says:

user/loser…. I think you mean Tylor is the one that is user/loser.

    • Bonzo says:

She’s the common denominator in all of her broken relationships — romantic and otherwise. She uses them as much as they use her.

  4. Mia4S says:

Oh god, this story better be false or he must be the biggest idiot alive. What he should be “expecting” is to sit there and clap politely as Courtney B Vance or Bryan Cranston walks to the stage. Otherwise? He’s so delusional he needs therapy!

    • lilacflowers says:

He said in an earlier interview that he was expecting Bryan Cranston to win it. The story is false.

      • lunchcoma says:

All I had to do was read the title to know this was false. Tom has his flaws, but arrogant over-confidence isn’t one of them, and neither is ungraciousness to fellow actors.

      • Rihannaisqueen says:

That’s good the story is false. We wouldn’t want a zoolander situation where he’s so confident be walks on stage when he didn’t win.

    • tracking says:

He may be many things, but he is not an idiot. Agree with lilacflowers this is false. (he was very good in TNM, and it established him as a bona fide leading man, but his performance does not rank with Vance or Cranston’s, and everyone knows it).

      • delorb says:

It didn’t establish him as a leading man, LOL. His being with Taylor did more for his career and leading man status than that TV movie.

    • Miss Jupitero says:

      Who writes these things?

    • Sixer says:

Even with my best snark head on, I cannot believe LEGS thinks he is going to win.

      • Lindsay says:

I can imagine him hoping those two split the votes in a favorable way that would allow him to win due to math not merit. I think you would have to keep some hope alive to gear up for a long flight and long show. Plus, the uncomfortable red carpet. I don’t think he is so out of touch he thinks it’s a lock.

      • Dippit says:

I read this ‘source’ in Taylor’s voice – trying to make TH appear like an arrogant, entitled douche – he may be a bit of that but “expecting to win”, nah.

      • Miss Jupitero says:

My Magic 8 Ball says this is coming from Taylor’s camp. Prediction: There will be another passive-aggressive swipe/gossip article about TommyAnnE…. right on time for Emmy night.

      • Sixer says:

The Battle of the Thirst is turning out to be rather boring and predictable, isn’t it? She should just write her mean album and get it over with. LEGS should line up this fabled theatre project and get to it as soon as Marvel wraps.

      • Tara says:

I’d really like to see LEGS do a Tom Stoppard play. Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead is my favorite.

      • Miss Jupitero says:

Yes, and this Magic 8 Ball is not the sharpest pencil in the box. This is all too predictable and dull. Tay Tay is living down to her reputation, but he is old enough to know better. He bought into this and tried to use it to his advantage, and I give him full side-eye for it.

He needs to line up a new project, fast. Something serious. King Kong is not going to get him out of this mess. I am not even sure that Shakespeare can help him.

    • Evie says:

Agree with everyone here. This story is not only false but it’s transparent as glass that it’s nothing but clickbait. If by some chance, Tom elects to stay in Australia and skip the Emmys the tabloids will publish another round of stories on why he didn’t attend. And all of them will most likely include a fabrication about how he was trying to avoid questions about Tay-Tay or how he’s depressed or has met a new lady love, etc., etc. The tabloids will be mourning Hiddleswift for a l-o-n-g time…

    • The Understudy says:

I think if he can attend he will, he is a producer and will want to support the whole team plus it has the added bonus of him showing he’s doing just fine amidst the multiple media stories. It’s work, the networking opportunities and the exposure of Emmy nominations for his work are good for his career. I doubt he believes he will win but if by some chance he does I look forward to the shocked and gushy unprepared speech. Depending on whether the host references Ms Swift will perhaps determine if he makes a dry reference to the media storm, thanks are unlikely to be on the cards.

  5. Bex says:

I don’t think anybody, Tom included, believes that he’s going to win over Courtney B. Vance, nor does he deserve to. Everyone’s clearly running out of things to write now.

  6. shelly* says:

I strongly suspect that Tommy boy has no expectation of winning.

This sounds like someone who doesn’t like him very much, trying to make him look silly.

    A. Source should really come up with some better trolling than that

  7. emmyb1608 says:

They ‘dated’ in the brief time AFTER TNM aired and before the award was handed out, that’s why he wouldn’t thank her!

    • paranormalgirl says:

Right. How on earth would she have been a “source of inspiration” to him?

    • chaine says:

Thank you, that’s what I was wondering. Why would he thank her if he wins for a show that wrapped before he even met her?

    • Maire3 says:

Perhaps some are suggesting that the timeline of their showmance happened during the nomination & voting period (eta) with a dose of sarcasm, that is.

      Agree this is a non-story

  8. Becky says:

Hollywoodlife = pile of clickbait cr@p.

If Tom needs some grooming advice, skip the expensive spa treatments and …. get a good sunscreen! Wear it every day, esp in summer/warm climates. Factor 50.

  9. browniecakes says:

Gossip Cop will have Hollywood Life’s lunch any minute now.
I hope the two Bondy bachelors, Idris and Tom arrive and sit near each other. No win for either at this one. A win for me though every time the camera finds them.

    • lilacflowers says:

I’m hoping Tom and Idris attend together. If they do attend, they’ll both be coming from the Thor set in Australia where they seem to be having fun if the recent videos they have done are any indication.

    • bonzo says:

      GC debunked it today.

  10. Guesto says:

I’m sure Tom would love to win – everyone nominated would love to win their category – but that article really is an infantile load of cretinous tripe.

  11. paranormalgirl says:

I sincerely doubt he’s expecting to win anything.

  12. Merritt says:

Why would he thank her in the event he does win? They are no longer together and they were not together when he was filming the project either.

  13. Hannah says:

This was written by Taylor Swift under an alias.

  14. Natalie Morgan says:

Who are these “fans” who think Taylor Swift could’ve inspired his performance? The Night Manager was filmed from March to July last year! Who thanks an ex-partner who wasn’t involved anyway?

  15. Chef Grace says:

    LOL. Such click bait.
But also TommyRompers is just making a movie, out running, and getting lightly spa’ed,
in the same old outfits so not much to write about him. Unlike Medusa who is out searching for her next victim for album fodder.
Now if he were to go surfing nude, say with just Loki’s helmet covering his hiddlesdong, then maybe it would generate more interesting stories. 🙂

  16. seesittellsit says:

This sounds like a smear from Taylor’s side, as no actor would ever let an assumption like that slip out to the public. The risk of further humiliation is too great. Tom may have exhibited some obtuseness recently, but this obtuse, he ain’t. This is coming from someone else’s PR machine, and represents a deliberate attempt to make him look foolish, as we all know, and he probably knows, that he has almost no chance of winning that Emmy.

Of course, if he beats those odds and wins, Taylor and her PR team will have, as the Brits say, scored an own goal – she will have passed up the chance to leave on the arm of Da Winnah smiling proudly.

  17. ds says:

He should deffo take someone cool with him; just for the gossip sake.

  18. shelly* says:

I hope he turns up at the Emmy’s wearing a kilt the traditional way (commando)
    I also hope it’s a breezy evening.

    • third ginger says:

This had already been debunked. It’s an insult to a fine actor and good sport. Silly pictures and public romance aside, no one who knows Hiddleston’s reputation within the business would believe this. I’ve said it before. We are down to some pretty thin gruel here.

  19. Kate says:

And why should he thank Taylor? Even by Hollywood standards their relationship was short lived!

  20. Barrett says:

    This is soooooo boring

  21. Skins says:

What happened to this great love that they shared?

  22. MI6 says:

Of course it’s BS. It’s Hollywood Life. And even TH isn’t THAT delusional.
He likely won’t win, but this is a big honor for him – a major American nomination! 🙂
He should thank God the Taytanic sunk and he survived.
    That is all.

  23. LaraK says:

On a side note, he looks soooo much like Ed Norton in the headline photo….

  24. Cee says:

I’m sorry but Cumberbatch’s acting in the last Sherlock episode wasn’t good. He just gets an automatic nom because it’s for Sherlock.
I’ll be disappointed if he wins.

  25. EnnuiAreTheChampions says:

Silly clickbait made-up foolishness. This reads like it was written with a glitter pen in a Hello Kitty notebook.

  26. Bonzo says:

I see this article as just one more unfortunate result of Tom’s foolish summer fling with Ms. PapsOnSpeedDial. Hollywood Life wouldn’t have had him on their radar and bothered with this BS clickbait story intended to make him look silly if he’d stayed the hell away from her after the Met Gala. She’s PR poison to anyone who decides to bone her for publicity.

Now you’re on the tabloid radar, Tommy boy. This is what you came for, right?

    • Sixer says:

And this, I am afraid, is all his own fault. One day I’ll stop laughing and then I might even feel sorry for him. But this may take some time.

Just snicked an hour for the second Cleverman episode. Me still likey.

      • Bonzo says:

Yes, I shall snigger at his lustful stupidity and continue to say “I told you this wouldn’t end well for you, TommyAnnE!” and won’t feel bad about it at all. One thing’s for sure, it finally united all the various fan “camps” in that we all agreed that it was a dumb thing for him to do… even as some of us rejoiced in the entertainment it provided for a few weeks.

I stayed up last night and caught ep 2 as well. It is good! I’ll have to look for Moon too. It came up on a best of list of movies NOT on Netflix US. Those usually grab my attention. Did you see Hunt for the Wilderpeople yet? That’s something you’d love, I’d think. One of the best films this year, I think.

      • Sixer says:

Not yet, but it’s on my list. Mostly stalled cos Paralympics!

        I miss Mr Sixer.

(That was my small, pathetic whine for the day.)

      • Lilacflowers says:

I hope to watch Hunt for the Wilderpeople tonight. But I am currently in danger of being carted off for murdering the jerk next to me who is destroying my serenity and my Cape Ann train ride by noisily ripping apart pieces of plastic bottles.

  27. Sasha says:

In one of the photos he is doing a Daniel Craig impression . Is he trolling?

  28. tasha says:

kaiser, you want CB to win? Why? Cause as I have seen the last sharlock was terrible. I was deeply disappointed. TNM is wayyyyyy much better thant that, also Tom also did better than him.

  29. Spidey says:

I cannot believe for one minute that Tom Hiddleston expects to win best actor, even less than he said any such thing. He is probably hoping the TNM will will an Emmy in one category.

    Another drink please lilacflowers. 🍷

  30. popup says:

Ha. Hollywood Life is actual celebrity fan fiction. Every story is written with such breathless intensity. They have no “sources.” They just make stuff up.

  31. bluwater says:

I don’t think he has to worry about who to thank. IMHO, he’s the dullest actor ever.

  32. browniecakes says:

I watched I Saw The Light finally as a reward to Tom for breaking up with Voldermort. Not that he knows this, but still.
It is funny some of the parallels between Hank and Taylor – very talented songwriters, loved and hated, no real peers to talk to, messy relationships, big egos. Obviously Taylor is allot healthier!

    • Spidey says:

      But did you enjoy it?

      • browniecakes says:

No. Kept checking the time. If Marc Abraham did the movie because he loved Hank, it doesn’t show. It didn’t show any of Hank’s positives.
        You?

      • Spidey says:

I haven’t see in browniecakes. I just wondered what you thought.

      • Cranberry says:

I enjoyed it. I really liked the sound track and the performances. I’m not sure that Abraham portrayed Hank’s personality accurately. I think he made a more heartfelt, tragic version of Hank. Basically Abraham smoothed over most the sharp, nasty edges of Hank. He wanted to make a swan song to Hank and show a more human, heartbroken man. I think he achieved that goal, but I don’t think it was a balanced portrait of him, and there were big holes left out of his story that weren’t explained well. Basically there’s too much to cover if you’re going to try to cover his life and explain why he was so distructive, explore his talent and explain why his music was important. Most attempts are going to make him out as a talented son of a b*tch.

than he probably was and most certainly than he seems on paper. Basically I think he ironed off most of the truely sharp, nasty edges that Hank had.

      • browniecakes says:

When you have 2 hours and 3 minutes to spare Spidey – let us know what you think

      • Spidey says:

Don’t hold your breath browniecakes. 🙂

    • Crox says:

I literally laughed out loud at “Voldemort”. 😀

    • Lilacflowers says:

Well, we think and hope she is healthier. For all we know, she could be mixing horse tranquilizers with white wine.

It is a shame Abrahams did not know how to tell that story. Cherry Jones was wasted. Olsen was fine. The cinematography was fantastic. And Tom gave a truly great performance. But it was a slog to sit through.

  33. cindyp says:

He should go with Carrie & Gary Fisher!

  34. Abby_J says:

My five year old daughter writes fan fiction better than this.

No way, I don’t believe a word of it. It’s so bad and ridiculous that I have a hard time believing that it came from the Swift camp either, although I suppose it would be an attempt to humiliate him.

I think Tom knows he won’t win, but I think he will show up anyway. I would. I still dream of him, Idris and Cumberbatch walking the Red Carpet as a ‘squad.’ Bonus points if he brings Chris Hemsworth as his ‘date.’

  35. Diane Powers says:

Tom gave an interview with a Sydney newspaper after filming in Brisbane was finished and said he would be in Australia till the end of Oct. apparently forgetting he was supposed to be going “red carpet official” with Taytay at the Emmys. The story was posted on tumble and then all his social media accounts were hacked and that story was buried. I’m sure it was a coincidence.

  36. SM says:

Seriously. He needs to go away. He is getting annoying as fuck. Is that his latest attempt to get more attention? Is it only me? I really do not see the facination with this guy, his role in the night manager was not that special. There were much better performances this year. This whole article looks like a failed attempt to persuade us how wonderful he was

    • Spidey says:

Seriously do you honestly think this is a true story?

      • Paine Tree says:

Swifty’s PR team must have taken on a whole bunch of temps to handle the workload from their latest “let’s trash the ex” campaign, this seems to happen after every break up

    • Cranberry says:

Yes it is you. Anybody that knows a thing or two about him know that he’s a pretty stand up person. You don’t need to be a fan, but you should be careful not to read too much into internet, click-bait gossip.

  37. browniecakes says:

The Emmy’s gave out some awards over the weekend:
Winner: Outstanding Music Composition – Limited Series: The Night Manager (AMC)

  38. Sammy_dog says:

Hope he wins. It would be a nice resolution to this whole Tom and Taylor Swift thing.

  39. saltandpepper says:

Win? Nope. But it would be advisable that he attend the awards and not in an I love TS tank top. What was he thinking? I cringe for him. But don’t feel sorry for him. Cranston or Vance for the win but they still have a few days to go frolick in the surf with the younh and brainless and destroy their reputations. Go boys! Or it won’t be fair to Tommie…

  40. LAK says:

Dear Tom, Stop. We are all cringing. The world.

  41. guest says:

I actually cringe at people who believe this bull$h!t.

  42. Chef Grace says:

But but but..it is on the INTERNET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    it must be true?!?!
Now I am off to see the wizard, better known as my coffee maker…

  43. Verdant33 says:

The idea that people believe this crap is amazing. They liked each other and might have thought it would get them some good attention but it was a mess from the beginning. I don’t even think they thought they were going to get the amount of (negative) attention they did. Tom probably thought..well shes dated other people and i won’t be paid attention to any more or less then them. Tom guilty of being naive. It was a feeding frenzy. Most of the frenzy coming from people who likely aren’t real fans of his but smell blood in the water and have the loudest presence on the internet.
