Kate McKinnon won best supporting actress in a comedy, for her work on Saturday Night Live. When she went up to accept her award she pulled her list out from under her boob like a badass. Kate was in an incredibly flattering v-neck crimson full length gown. Her hair was in soft waves and it’s like she was comfortable and dressy at the same time. During her acceptance speech she said she was nervous but she still came across like a pro to me. She thanked everyone at SNL and while she was rattling off names she said Hillary Clinton! She often plays Hillary so that makes sense.
She also thanked her dad, whom she said “is not with us anymore” but made her start watching SNL when she was 12. I just re-watched her speech and at that point the camera panned to Julia Louis-Dreyfus (who had not won yet) and she had tears in her eyes. We learned later, when Julia won, that her dad just passed away on Friday. I want to hug anyone who ever lost a parent.
I’m going to get superficial again and move on to fashion. Here’s Regina King in a red Elizabeth Kennedy gown. (I know this looks salmon-colored in the photos but it was bright red on screen.) The folding and detailing on this gown are impressive and it fit her so well. Regina won for supporting actress in a limited series, for her role in American Crime, for the second year in a row. When she went up on stage she kissed Taraji P Henson, which was cute! She also brought her mom with her.
Connie Britton was also in red, in Talbot Runhof. There are too many tiers on this skirt. It’s pretty from the top up and I like that it’s all the same color, but there’s too much going on with the skirt.

I have loved Regina since 227 and am over the moon happy that she is finally getting the recognition she deserves. Very old school styling here, and it works like a charm on her.
I like the color on Connie’s dress but the design is overworked.
I actually don’t get the hype over Kate as I think her comedy is hit or miss, but congrats on the win. She looks amazing here.

That is awesome! I am honestly always shocked when anyone other than black people mention that they have watched Martin or 227 or any other predominately black show other than the Cosby show. I am not sure why I feel this way, though.

Honestly Regina has been doing quality work for *decades* but she flies under the radar not only due to being female and Black but also because she is not into the PR business/sell my private life/pap walk.
I respect her so much for just hanging in there and focusing on her craft, letting the work speak for itself. She has continued to work steadily with no ego; taking small and big parts, whatever comes her way while elevating any part she is given. Hats off Regina.

Kate’s reaction to winning was just so adorable!!! We’re so used to people doing the Taylor Swift perfectly round O mouth, hands on the cheeks “who, lil’ ol’ me!? I’m so shocked even though I’ve won this award 10 million times” face that it’s so refreshing to see someone genuinely excited and surprised.
Also, she looked so beautiful. Her smile is infectious.

I really like McKinnon and she looked great but I’m here for Regina. Terrific dress which she wore like a bawse and how could I forgot to include her in my list of ladies with enviable arms. I’m so happy she won.
