Sarah Palin got a book deal

Sarah Palin
Surprising no one, Sarah Palin has signed a book deal. Her memoir will be published in the spring of 2010, and she claims she will address some of the misconceptions about her and her family. At first, the timing of the publication struck me as odd – most would-be presidential candidates tend to publish a book in the fall or winter before the year of the general election. But the timing for Palin’s memoir coincides with the her re-election campaign for governor of Alaska. So, if she gets reelected, she’ll probably put out another book in the winter of 2011 – if she’s going to run. Which she is. Sorry if I ruined the surprise for anyone.

Sarah Palin is ready to tell her side of the story.

The former Republican vice-presidential candidate will publish a memoir with HarperCollins that will come out in Spring 2010 — the same time she becomes eligible for reelection as Alaska’s governor.

The Alaska governor’s book, currently untitled, will cover some of the controversies surrounding herself and her family, the Associated Press reports.

The book — which will span her Alaskan childhood through last year’s presidential campaign and beyond — is expected to cover her political beliefs and her family life, including the pregnancy of her teenage daughter, Bristol Palin, who gave birth in December to a son, Tripp.

“In fairness to my family, this is going be a good opportunity for them, too, because there have been so many misperceptions out there about who we are and what we believe in, and I’m excited to get to put my journalism degree to work and tell my story as it relates to my family,” Palin said.

Although financial terms were not disclosed, Palin is expected to get a multimillion-dollar contract.

[From US Weekly]

This comes only weeks after the rumor was spread that Levi Johnston (Bristol Palin’s baby-daddy) was shopping a “million dollar tell-all” about the Palin family. Could we actually have two Palin-related books come out at the same time? One, a Sarah Palin memoir, and the other a Levi Johnston ghost-written expose of the dark side of growing up on the mean streets of Wasilla?

So, let’s have some fun. What will Gov. Palin’s memoir be called? I have some guesses, of course. My money’s on Gotcha Governor or The Unbearable Lightness of Also. What’s your guess?

Wasn’t she one of the main reasons a lot of republicans didn’t vote for McCain? Her running sounds like a waste of funding.

It would probably be in her best interests to get a ghost writer.

But people, she can put her journalism degree to work. Love it. The more she opens her yap, the more she sinks herself.

We poke fun and we’re full of hate and bias, but Fox News is Truth in television form.

  15. boomchakaboom says:

Hey, Tony: I gotta hand it to the GOP, this being on top and relentlessly poking at the carcass of the loser is TOTALLY fun. Thanks to the GOP for giving everybody permission (plus 8 years of demonstrations) to pile on dogfight style. Not so much fun when you’re the dog on bottom, is it?

  16. the original kate says:

thanks for the book titles, guys – they are hilarious and brightened up my drizzly seattle morning!

oh and tony: if you’ve “never seen so much hate” than you obviously have never watched fox news. or listened to dick cheney being interviewed. or left your house, for that matter.

  19. Bob says:

It’s hilarious how Palin terrifies the left. Watch for colorfully entertaining bookstore protests and millions of Amazon.com “0 star” reviews from people who won’t even read the book.

  20. Annie says:

Rampant stupidity is a scary thing.

  21. Hieronymus Grexx says:

Bob: It’s hilarious how Palin terrifies the left.

Incompetence on that level is frightening and not something to be embraced, if you’d have learned that lesson you would have won the election. so keep being amused and we’ll keep the white house for 12 more years.

  22. sarcra says:

The division that politics causes is absolutely sickening.

  23. boomchakaboom says:

sarcra, I find the evil that masks itself under politics to be a bigger fear than the division it causes.

Anyone with a sense of humor can make jokes about someone like Palin, whose continued bid for relevance, love of the spotlight, and unawareness of her own image will always be a source of humor. There are many, many, Republicans who do not fit this category (and many Democrats who do), which is why they are not being held up for ridicule on a daily basis. Palin puts herself there.

  24. Eileen O'shea says:

I think she just got a best seller cause she is famous. I just read a new novel by a new author that was terrific, called “Dalton Shores,” but because it’s by an unknown, will probably never reach the status of Palin’s book.
