Wanda Sykes & wife welcome twins Lucas & Olivia

Wanda Sykes
Wanda Sykes is a mother! Wanda’s wife, Alex, gave birth to twins way back on April 27. And they’re just getting around to announcing it now… interesting. Alex had a boy and a girl, named Lucas Claude and Olivia Lou respectively.

Wanda and Alex met in 2006, and were married in October of last year. And if Alex gave birth to the twins anywhere near her due date, that means she got pregnant in late July or early August. Which means that it was a shotgun wedding. Before Alex and Wanda met, Wanda was married, and then divorced, to a man. Wanda came out publicly last year at an event in support of same sex marriage.

Wanda Sykes and her wife, Alex, welcomed twins on April 27, her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively.

Daughter Olivia Lou weighed in at 6 lbs., 7 oz., and was 19-inches long. Son Lucas Claude debuted at 7 lbs., 9 oz., and was 20-inches long. The comedian’s wife gave birth to the babies.

“All are happy and healthy and at home,” says Sykes’s rep Danica Smith.

The actress, who stars on New Adventures of Old Christine, and her wife were married on Oct. 25, 2008. The twins are the first children for the couple.

I’m really starting to wonder why it took two and half weeks for Wanda’s representative to confirm the births. Obviously, Wanda and Alec have other priorities, like taking care of those babies. Or could it be that Wanda knew the babies would get press, and she didn’t want to have to talk about during her routine at the White House Correspondents dinner? I sort of wish she had announced it ahead of time, because it would have given her a chance to make better jokes. Something about Levi Johnston… maybe something along the lines of “At least I married my baby mama.” I don’t know, I’ll work on it.

I love Wanda. She is sooo freaking hilarious. I used to love her when she had a spot on the Sunday NFL pregame show. Maybe in her spare time she can drop a note to the Aflacks (I liked the misspelling someone used the other day) and tell them how to avoid the paps.

man, it must be nice to be a lesbian couple… if one is infertile, there’s always a back up. and there’s virtually an infinite supply of sperm donors…speaking of which, how did they father the babies?

She is hilarious. I loved her in Curb Your Enthusiasm. I also loved her routine
at the White House Correspondents’ dinner. She was spot on. I especially liked when she said she tells her kids if they have a choice between getting in a car with Dick Cheney or a stranger, choose the stranger. He is one scary dude. Congrats to her and her wife. I wish them much happiness.

  12. Rock says:

How come the paps don’t bother her or most black people. How was she able to stay out of the media so much so that a lot of people don’t even know she is a lesbian.
