I first heard about The Weeknd and Bella Hadid in the early summer of 2015. Bella popped up in a profile and interview of The Weeknd in the New York Times in July, which was one of the more interesting ways for Bella to become Abel’s “official.” Bella was Abel’s Grammys date this year, and she was there for his Oscar nomination, and they went to the Met Gala together too. While Abel seemed fine with acknowledging Bella as his girlfriend, there were always rumors of his wandering eye, just as there were rumors that they were pretty on-and-off at times. Well, now they’re completely off.
The Weeknd (né Abel Tesfaye) and Bella Hadid are going their separate ways. The couple has split after a year and half together, PEOPLE has learned.
“Their schedules have been too hard to coordinate and he is focusing on finishing and promoting his album,” a source confirms to PEOPLE exclusively. “They still have a great deal of love for one another and will remain friends.”
A rep for the Weeknd had no comment. A rep for Hadid did not immediately respond to request for comment.
The “Starboy” hitmaker, a.k.a. Abel Tesfaye, 25, and the model, 20, were first linked together in April 2015 when he asked her to be in the artwork for his album, Beauty Behind the Madness. Hadid also starred in The Weeknd’s music video for his single, “In the Night.”
Page Six points out that they caught a whiff of the breakup back in September, although people close to Abel and Bella denied it. Still, one source said back then: “They broke up. He’s been seen out and about chatting up girls.” It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he was fooling around, but it would surprise me if that was the reason for the breakup. It feels far more likely that they just didn’t have anything else to say to each other – they were always very “opposites attract.” And now Gigi is the only Hadid sister still with her rock star boyfriend.
Incidentally, Bella stepped out in LA just as this breakup news was coming out yesterday. She was out with Hailey Baldwin.

I do it too ( I also live in LA) because depending what you’re doing, the temp swings 20 degrees within seconds if you’re shopping, exiting, popping into another building, hopping into a car. Sometimes, all I can do it bear A shoulder, and it keeps my full arms with one less thing to have to carry, and releases heat from my pits or PIT.
Sorry for the long, analysis. My husband always points out my one arm look and criticises my “attempt to look cool”. When really, it’s my attempt to cool, while being lazy.

Zayn never needed Gigi to get fashion collabs. I mean look at him – he’s got the face for it. When in 1D he had lots of offers but wasn’t allowed to accept them – same with Harry.
IIRC on twitter she was retweeting/favoriting racist tweets and tweeting about how it’s great to be white (and not in an “I recognize my privilege” way). Add that to *that* letter her mom wrote her. Sheesh. So, yeah. She’s really not a nice person, regardless of how pretty she may be.

The Weeknd is an open coke (and whatever else) user. The lyrics of his songs indicate that the women in his life share in that habit, and that intimacy is the better for having had a few lines. As talented and exciting as life with him must be, Bella is well out of it. As for The Weeknd, how long can you continue to be a functioning coke head before things start to slip away?

I don’t know anything about them personally, but I like his music and she’s pretty. Plus there’s a big difference in maturity between 20 and 25, at least in my experience.
