Paris Hilton claims she was ‘trapped’ into ‘playing a ditzy airhead’ for years

When we last checked in on Paris Hilton, she was proudly announcing that she voted for Donald Trump because, in her words, “I’ve known him since I’m a little girl.” That right there was pretty much Peak America, by the way. In any case, we’ve known exactly what Paris Hilton is for many, many years: an absolute idiot. She’s dumb like a fox in that she was the pioneer famewhore who was famous for nothing, but Paris’s heyday has long since passed and dumb is forever. But to hear Paris tell it, she’s secretly been brilliant this whole time and she was merely playing dumb many years ago and that image just stuck. Yeah. That excuse is older than “I just seem like a bitch because of the editing.”

Paris Hilton is a name that signifies glitz, money, blonde jokes and, now, a $2 billion empire. That’s right, Hilton reveals to Access Hollywood that she doesn’t want to be known as a ditz anymore. With 17 product lines and 70 overseas stores, she’s built a business empire and is ready for people to recognize it.

“I am a very hardworking businesswoman and entrepreneur, and that’s what I want to be known as now,” shares the hotel heiress. The 35-year-old credits the producers of her breakout reality show The Simple Life with her frivolous persona, explaining, “They said ‘Nicole you play the trouble maker, Paris you play the ditzy airhead.’ We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into or what a huge success it would be and that I’d have to continue playing this character for five years. You kind of just get trapped in that character when you have to continue doing it on a TV show,” she says. Despite Hilton’s honest musings around the dumb blond persona, she admits she’s benefited because she “was in on the joke.”

“I don’t mind because I feel like I really parlayed it into a huge business and it was a lot of fun,” she says. “I think if I was my serious self on the show it wouldn’t have been such a huge success.”

The show may be gone and she may be past her hard-partying socialite days, but Hilton is still still holds court in the style arena, with fashionistas like Kate Middleton spotted wearing the same dresses she’s donned.

Hilton rewards herself for her hard work with a sparkling rock on her figure, which she dubs her “good luck diamond.”

She says, “I feel like I’ve worked really hard so I like to treat myself.”

[From People]

I do feel like Paris is taking a page out of Donald Trump’s book of just throwing out a number and claiming that’s what she’s worth. In this case, are we just supposed to take her word for it that her “empire” is worth $2 billion? Because I don’t believe it. I’m sure there are places in the world where Paris’s perfume or whatever still sells, but $2 billion? Nah. As for Paris only playing dumb for her branding… I’ve seen her in interviews. She really is that mind-numbingly stupid. No joke.

ah yes, clearly as a member of MENSA she had to really strip down to the essentials and just be a vapid airhead. Such a waste for the scientific community. She could have achieved SO MUCH.

Paris, dear Paris, if it wasn’t for your family you would be scrubbing toilets for a living. maybe you’d be with the likes of Kelly Osbourne, Kate Hudson, and the Jenner girls.

  2. anna says:

i had my doubts about her stupidity, but then she said that thing about trump and all doubts were gone.

    • Lirko says:

      Hahaha! Right?

    • Down and Out says:

She is not the brightest but when has that mattered in America lately? I really hope she never goes into politics ala Trump. What cruel twist of irony if she were the one to break through the glass ceiling.

  3. Lorelai says:

    Sure, Jan.

  4. Ankhel says:

Sooo…. You say two silly things in a breathy voice, and up pops a goblin with a magical contract, that says you have to be dumb forever?

  5. trollontheloose says:

I’m worth biggly too.. gotta tell my Bank now.

  6. Dee says:

She voted for trump. I rest my case.

    • HookedonCoffee says:

To be honest, Trump represents her. She’s an overpriveledged brat who lacks the self awareness to contemplate less fortunate people. She’s also a pathetic, insecure woman who links her value to her sex appeal.

Trump might not be YOUR candidate, but he is absolutely hers.

  7. bleu_moon says:

It’s Trump’s America- all the old fame whore reality TV show has-beens will be crawling back into the spotlight.

  8. Patricia says:

No. I watched her latest reality show (I don’t know what’s wrong with me) and she was still a complete moron. And a mean person.

Also what’s with all these fanewhores insisting they work so hard. That’s not a totally normal thing to say. Most people living life and making ends meet are hard working, but they don’t refer to themselves as such. You don’t hear “I’m a hard working teacher” and “I’m a hard working store clerk” etc. It’s just these rich and spoiled “entrepreneurs”, and famewhores and children of celebrities who need to constantly announce how very hard working they are.

    • LA says:

I think they confuse “working long hours” with “working hard.” It does take a long time to film a reality TV show, for example, between hair and make up, traveling, shooting, re-shooting, staging, lighting, blah blah. But is it HARD for the ‘actor’? I wouldnt say so. Just time consuming.

  9. Skins says:

Saw the interview and her monotone voice made me want to cut my ears off

  10. Jayna says:

She is as vapid as they come. She has nothing interesting to say, ever. She probably licenses her name and makes a fraction of that $2 billion. But she is wealthy, no doubt about it.

She voted for Trump because her parents did. A lot of those Beverly Hills socialites and their husbands are Republicans. It’s how she grew up.

    • swak says:

She may have grown up that way, but it goes to her intelligence that she simply voted because she knows him and doesn’t take the time to look at all the issues.

    • Lady D says:

I read an article about her in a financial magazine 5-6 years ago, where they broke down her perfume sales for 2 years. They showed she was worth over a billion dollars, with what she was marketing. If she’s made a second billion, then as far as I’m concerned she is not only very clever, (never thought I’d say that about her) others should be following her business model.

  11. SusieQ says:

There was a campaign to get people to vote a few years and she wore the tshirt and talked about how important it is to vote and then it turned out she wasn’t even registered, it was probably the same this time around.

    • Jayna says:

That’s hilarious. I doubt she voted this time either.

    • pinetree13 says:

I remember that, it wasn’t just a “vote” shirt it said “Vote or die”

So there were lots of jokes about whether she was going to “die” since she didn’t even vote that election year

  12. HookedonCoffee says:

Oh, Sweety. You are the heir to a fortune who never wanted for anything, education least of all. You also lived in a country that at least does not have laws that make women 2nd class citizens.

If this trapped you, you couldn’t handle normalcy.

  13. arock says:

yes, “trapped”. she has a business empire based on her image, even (giving her any credit) it is in contrary to her abilities, who cares. shes vapid at best.
dont be bitter apples about kims fame whoring success.

  14. annaloo. says:

I’m not defending her, nor am I a Paris apologist, but I remember being on a plane several years back and a business magazine was congratulating Paris on hitting her first billion dollar mark. I do believe she’s worth$2b, but it’s probably through licensing of not only perfumes and bags, but she puts her name on hair products, owns shares in some hotels along with her DJ/promotional appearances overseas. She needs her international market bc she is a dead property in the US.

    • HookedonCoffee says:

I hear your argument, but I disagree. It follows the same blind spot the ‘Trump is a successful businessman’ argument does.

It is easy to make obscene amounts of money when you had obscene amounts of money and connections to begin with. When Paris was founding her little empire, she:

**did not need to take out crippling loans. It’s easy to take risks when failure won’t destroy you. It is also easier to keep your money when you aren’t paying a percentage back on those cripplingly high loans.

**did not need to run laps to attract top talent or backers. She had all of daddy’s contacts.

**could afford an army of subordinates who did all the heavy lifting for her.

If she legitimately pulled herself up by the bootstraps, then I would respect her. But her little bored housewife venture is just inertia. It would honestly be more impressive if she failed, because it takes talent to throw a game with that amount of cards in your favor.

      • Lady D says:

And I just finished leaving a comment about her cleverness. Not feeling so bright at the moment.

      • HookedOnCoffee says:

You are probably a perfectly clever person. I’m probably a non-generous person, and you are probably a generous person. One is happy to call people on their crap, the other looks past people’s faults and finds their strengths.

Both have their strengths and blind spots. That’s why the world needs both personalities, and both personalities need each other.

      • annaloo. says:

I don’t disagree with you, I do think she’s pretty vapid and privileged beyond belief, but I have no doubt that she’s worth 2 billion. The thing is: you have to think abou the people who pay that to put her there. That’s the greater problem than her.

      • HookedOnCoffee says:

You are dead on, and that is probably what pisses me off the most about these bored housewife initiatives. Don’t they all amount to obscenely rich women shrilling $400 sweatpants or whatever? Something only an obscenely rich woman would buy. I have to picture them smugly sitting around smugly with their circle of friends yakking it up like they are the most astute businesswomen who never did market research ever, and in the meantime all being their only customers.

In any case, it is ultimately just another case of how money just sloshes around among the upper strata of…geez, I wouldn’t even call these people income earners. It doesn’t go to job creation, it doesn’t go to public services, it hardly goes to charitable causes, it just passes between a bunch of insipid people who wouldn’t even miss it if it were gone.

Geez Louiz, when I lived in East Asia, at least all the rich bored housewives were starting ESL schools. I wouldn’t say they knew what they were doing, but at least their enterprise ideas had social substance.

  15. Yup, Me says:

I used to enjoy The Simple Life, it was a great idea for a show. I checked out a couple minutes of her solo show years later and she is sooooooooo incredibly stupid and lacking in charisma or anything interesting to say. And hearing that whiny childish voice come out of the face of an aging woman who is clearly still living like a little girl (and thinking the same gimmicks that got her famous in her late teens make her interesting in her thirties)- she just came off as pathetic and delusional.

  16. Marianne says:

Im not saying that Paris is some brilliant woman, but Im sure she did play up a persona to a certain extent. I think a lot of celebrities do.

  17. Sam says:

No, she’s as dumb as a brick and she knows it. She’s admitted to as much while she was being recorded without her knowledge. Does anyone remember when that creepy head of Girls Gone Wild was tied up in his own hotel room and robbed, sodomized? It was a horrible story that shouldn’t happen to anyone. Then enters Paris Hilton who eventually contacts police when she over hears someone at a club boasting about jacking the guys jewelry and rolex. So when she’s in the recorded interview with detectives she says a few times, in complete seriousness “Look, I’m not that smart. I’m kind of stupid, I’m not sure if what I heard was anything.” She’s an idiot and she’s made a fortune off of it – you can’t fix dumb and you can’t rewrite history. It all aired on Dateline a few years ago.

  18. what's inside says:

Please tell me that she will quickly fade away again…..She, Kim and Lindsey are the worst.

  19. lyla says:

are we suppose to believe that she’s such a good actor that she fooled everyone into thinking she’s dumb?

i have a friend who is a fan of hers. i have no idea why he likes her. it seriously makes me question our friendship. anyways, after the election, i told him about the story of how she voted for drumpf and his response was “well, i never said she was smart.”

  20. kimbers says:

Ummmmmm we saw her public storage information after she failed to pay the bills and yes she’s dumb.
