Ivanka Trump & Jared Kushner are house-hunting in Washington DC

FFN_Trump_Ivanka_GGFF_120116_52245492

Melania Trump is not going to be moving to Washington DC next month. She might not ever move to DC, although right now the story is that she’s not going to disrupt Barron’s school year, and the issue will be revisited next summer, basically. So President-elect Trump is looking for a wife-type figure, a woman who can serve as hostess, confidante, and wife surrogate. Everyone thought that person would clearly be Ivanka Trump (Trump’s favorite child), but she kept insisting that she didn’t want to move DC either. Well, guess what? She’s moving to DC.

With 46 days until her father Donald Trump‘s January 20, 2017 inauguration, Ivanka Trump has set her sights on some real estate in the nation’s capital. he future first daughter and her husband Jared Kushner, along with their three children Arabella, 5, Joseph, 3, and 8-month-old Theodore, are planning a move from New York City to Washington D.C.

“Everyone is adjusting to these new circumstances during the transition period, and while Ivanka has no intention of taking a formal role in the administration, she plans to be an advocate for issues she cares deeply about,” a source close to Ivanka tells PEOPLE. “The team is working hard on the final stages of vetting the structure that will be put in place in leading the Trump organization to avoid even the appearance of any conflict of interest. We look forward to providing updates on the corporate structure and other details next week.”

Ivanka serves as Executive Vice President of Development & Acquisitions of the Trump Organization, based in N.Y.C., and also has own line of clothing, handbags, shoes and accessories. Jared is a real estate developer who owns properties in the New Jersey and New York markets. The pair, who were appointed to Trump’s Presidential Transition Team Executive Committee, took on very active roles during the election with the mother of three stumping across the country and speaking at the Republican National Convention in July on behalf of her father. And in November, she sat in on her father’s meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. On Monday, Ivanka and Donald met with Al Gore to discuss climate change during a “lengthy and very productive” meeting, according to Gore.

In addition, the president-elect requested that Kushner be allowed to sit in on his Presidential Daily Briefings. Though Kushner will be heavily involved, anti-nepotism laws could prevent him from holding an official federal job.

[From People]

This week’s rumor is that Ivanka is going to be her father’s Climate Czar, and that rumor has legs following her meeting with Al Gore yesterday. As for Jared…Trump would love to put Jared in any position, basically. I think Jared is one of the few people Trump trusts completely, and their relationship is still so weird to me. Like, is Jared the son Donald Trump never had but always wanted? Does Jared see Trump as a father figure? I have no idea. But I’m absolutely sure that Ivanka and Jared will be deeply involved in the Trump administration. What’s also a little bit funny to me is that if and when Trump puts his company into a “blind trust” (or “whatever”), I’m sure that he would have loved to simply hand the business over to his favorite child, Ivanka. Like, he wishes he could clone her so she could run the business AND be in Washington with him. But Trump won’t worry about that too much – I’m sure she will be working in the administration and running the business! Because that’s the country we live in now.

Also: why are they house-hunting? Why not just move into the White House?

I can’t stand the Trumps, but at least Ivanka seems stable. And I see her taking on climate change as a good thing. Because if she takes it seriously, she might be able to convince her father to do the same.

    • greenleaf says:

If you think Ivanka is any better than her father, I suggest you read excerpts from her book. 2 peas in a pod.

Also, they’re not even trying to appear that they are avoiding conflicts of interest. It makes me sick to my stomach.

    • Original T.C. says:

Ivanka Trump will champion climate change just as much as she does with women’s maternity leave and sexual harassment which is to say NOT. As often as Ivanka has shown that she is just like her Dad but in a prettier package, Democrats and liberals still refuse to believe it.

Just like she said she wouldn’t be involved with the campaign, she’s never seen her Dad say inappropriate things to women, she will never be the First Lady….can’t wait for her to tell the next lie. There is a reason she is Donald’s favorite and most trusted, she is his clone. And she married a guy who thinks like her and her Dad.

    • Locke Lamora says:

the stable ones are more dangerous, it takes longer to see just how evil they are.

    • cindyp says:

Why do we want her to take on anything? Was she elected to public office? The thought of this awful woman shaping public policy is terrifying. I could give #$% what she thinks about anything. Frightening that the media & public wants to normalize these grifters. All they’re interested in is enriching themselves.

      • Pandy says:

I know!!! There will be think pieces post presidency about how the media saw what was happening but were muzzled, blah blah blah. In the meantime, they will have lined their pockets with the US Treasury. Good luck with this bunch. You elected a FAMILY, not just one guy. And they are a family of idiots.

      • Achoo says:

I may be wrong here as I’m not an American but aren’t most of the people appointed to positions of power in a US administration, including hundreds of ambassadors unelected ?

    • minx says:

She wasn’t elected to anything, although she and her douchey husband sure act like it.
      Entitled twits, both of them.

    • hmmm says:

Ivanka Drumpf is a snake. It runs in both families. It’s malignant nepotism. None of these snakes are qualified for anything but to eat dust.

    • CMiddy says:

Sorry to hijack this response, but am not very tech-y and can’t work out how to do a new reply. Aside from all the other (obvious) grievances, I cannot understand why the media is not making more of a deal about the conflict issues around Trump’s business interests?’ There was some focus around the fact that his sons clearly have no idea how a blind trust works (“we will have a blind trust, me, Eric and Ivanka will manage it, and we so won’t talk to Poppa at all as he has no influence over us whatsoever”) but that is about it. This is a massive issue! I am a lawyer and am astounded this is not all over media (though live in London and we are all so traumatised re Brexit perhaps no energy to focus).

      • Snowflake says:

I don’t get it either. That was another reason I didn’t feel he should be running for President. Too many opportunities for conflict of interest. In other words, I felt he could make moves to benefit his businesses. Really don’t get why people aren’t screaming about it. Maybe they are distracted by his tweets and his appointments

    • buzz says:

she’s a nasty lying grifter just like her father

  2. BJ says:

    Ivanka Trump,the other First Lady.

  3. SusanneToo says:

Hasn’t ivanka always served as a wife-type figure? What’s new about that?

  4. Megan says:

Why not just build a penthouse apartment in Trump’s DC hotel? It’s about three blocks from the White House. They clearly don’t not give a crap about impropriety so why not go with what is most convenient?

  5. Eener says:

I think we all need to boycott People. There normalization of this is grotesque at this point. And didn’t he assault one of their reporters? I for one will never read it or purchase it again.

  6. Rapunzel says:

70 year old Baby Donny needs his nanny and handholder (Ivana/Jared). It’s pathetic.

  7. robyn says:

This obnoxious egocentric family above the rules. I can barely look, take only small doses … they are so, so grating on the nerves. I must avoid the daily details to preserve sanity. I want to see his taxes, his true health status and why he isn’t being charged or arrested for colluding with Russia. Isn’t that treason? Shouldn’t he be in jail instead of the White House?

Obviously Trump can’t function even the least bit intelligently without his family to guide and help him through. But what about all the conflict of interests for heaven’s sake. It’s mind boggling what we are letting this man get away with. Why is this nightmare allowed to happen in America?

    • Esmom says:

I’m with you, robyn, can only take him in small doses. This is a living nightmare and every day bring something new to panic about.

Just this morning I tried to read a news article and in the comments people were saying to anti-Trump people “how has your life changed since he was elected? Everything’s fine, etc.” As if disaster hasn’t unfolded yet then it won’t. The delusion is unreal.

      • robyn says:

How is it that people don’t realize that the “disaster” is already here because America elected a bigot and a sexist and a horrible pussygrabbing bully. It shows what America is made of and that is what’s so painful. All the people who were crying out … please tell me you care about us but America said FU, I’ve got my guns and my flags so FU.

    • Original T.C. says:

“But what about all the conflict of interests for heaven’s sake.”

Actually Robyn this will be the fatal flaw that will lead his fellow business people that voted for him and old guard Republicans to push him under the bus leading to his impeachment.

They don’t care about racism, sexism, disabled people or the LGBT community. They DO care about unfair competition and the president trying to run business or issuing threats. So grab some popcorn and watch the house of Donald be brought down in flames by his side. Either in year 1 or 2 of his presidency.

      • robyn says:

This election has brought out something in me that feels new in an awful way. I actually relish the idea of Trump going down in flames. I don’t like how that feels as I don’t like being vindictive the way he is. I know he would be nothing without his supporters. His supporters didn’t say FU to the establishment, as many folks like to say, they actually said FU to the disenfranchised. This makes me sad and angry and unfortunately grappling with feelings of vindictiveness.

      • Kitten says:

        Me too Robyn.

I feel guilty about it but I want him to fail spectacularly. Although I have a feeling that even if that happens, Trump supporters will still stay dumb. I don’t envision any Come to Jesus moment for these people.

      • Who ARE these people? says:

Nah, my husband hopes DT will have a stroke. Doesn’t feel an ounce of guilt.

      • buzz says:

        Amen to Robyn

    • Rhiley says:

Yesterday I was looking up How to reason with a toddler on parenting websites because after watching Trevor Noah and Tomi Whateverherlastnameis I figured this is how we will now have to communicate with trump supporters who are so dang emboldened right now. So I have come up a short list, that is growing, about how I am going to approach trump and his supporters. Please feel free to borrow from this list.

      1) Always refer to him as the Toddler in Chief
      2) Laugh like hell when Alec Baldwin impersonates him and share those posts on social media with remarks, emojis, tags etc.
      3) Drop little asides like, “when they gut medicare how will you pay for your medical bills”
      4) Find ways to remind trump supporters that he was a bigot long before he got to the White House
      5) Let people know that Democrats love infrastructure and we will work across the aisle to make it happen but not if it is privatized
      6) Tell others that I am sick of hearing about the white working class voter. I don’t care. I care about all people no matter where they are from, what color their skin is, who they do or don’t pray to etc etc

    • nicole says:

robyn, totally agree with you, they seem to be doing what they like and what suits them, I always thought America was a great country for rules and regulations and professionalism, but this whole things seems so badly organized and just going along with whatever they want, there doesnt seem to be anyone in charge, it just doesnt seem right to me, I am not American, just looking on at the process, but was it like this in previous years, I dont think so. Also he inst even in office yet, and he is already causing such trouble and confusion, its going to be very turbulent if you ask me.

  8. JaneDoesWork says:

As someone who lives here can I just say UGHHHHH. Something like 4% of DC voted for Donald Trump. Literally, no one wants him here. Then again, I guess we’re “the swamp” and “the system” LOL.

In all seriousness, this election hits close to home for a lot of federal employees who don’t know if they’ll have jobs in 6 months and in general DC is very liberal. Even the Republican staffers are pretty socially liberal because of the environment here. Super freaking proud that Pence’s temporary neighbors put up rainbow flags, but not at all happy that Comet Ping Pong was targeted by a Trump nut with a gun who believed that crazy fake news theory about Hillary Clinton abusing children in their pizza shop.

    • Original T.C. says:

No joke, I met someone two weeks ago who believes the fake story about HRC running a pedophile ring in D.C. first time I have ever heard of this fake news. I just thought he was a bit insane since he also believed Donald Trump was going to blow China off the map and make everyone in America filthy rich. Had no idea so many people believed this story.

      • Lady D says:

Samantha Bee last night, showed an interview with a man who deliberately writes misleading and outright lies for stories because “people believe it” I wish I could remember the name of his site. It was something like National News.

    • Kitten says:

My bestie lives in DC and she said the day after the election was like a funeral in DC. She wore all black to work lol.

      • The Recluse says:

One of my coworkers down on the National Mall, in one of the museums, said he saw people in black too. People in DC are not happy about this.
It’s going to be a nightmare.

  9. Tifzlan says:

I don’t know how devout a Jew Mr. Kushner is but i’m assuming he practices the faith, considering Ivanka converted to marry him. Anyway, my point is – how can he, in any good conscience, support Donald Trump or even attempt to play an important role in this administration knowing that people like Steve Bannon are Trump’s right hand men? I really don’t understand and want to know how the Kushners beyond Jared are treating this situation right now.

  10. Lalu says:

    Love those heels.

  11. Shambles says:

In most other situations, it would be less creepy for someone’s daughter to be their defacto first lady. However since this man has made comments about his daughter and the fact that he is sexually attracted to her, it’s creepy as sh!t.

Slightly OT: I made a Facebook status voicing my opinion about the Carrier deal. I got into a discussion with some guys, both of whom voted trump. In reply to one of my replies, one of the guys expected me to respond to a 17 question critique of every point that I had made.
Not only is that ridiculous, some of the questions were extremely patronizing and used sexist language. I know he thought that I wouldn’t actually go out and respond to every single question. And usually I would not, but these are not usual times. So I responded to every single one of his 17 f*cking questions, complete with multiple sources for every single point that I made.

I’m so damn sick of being gaslighted by straight white men.

    • Tough Cookie says:

      Shambles!! you are awesome!!

    • swak says:

🙂 I got into it with a guy who doesn’t understand why DeVos would not be good as Sec’y of Ed. He sends his children to private school and wants either a voucher or tax credit for the tuition and that he pays 12 times as much in taxes to send his neighbor children to school than to send his children to parochial (catholic church) school. I pointed out to him that I doubt he pays $58000 in taxes total, much less in the taxes that are used for education. Again, a priviledge white male.

      • Esmom says:

We have people like that in our town and as Jon Stewart said these are the people who have quietly infiltrated our school boards and local government. They are just as responsible for the rise of Trump as the openly bigoted KKK types.

    • annaloo. says:

The bottom line on that deal is that the Indiana taxpayers are going to be the ones footing the bill to keep those “jobs” there. Trump has no magic wand, he is doing what he does best: risking other people’s money. I read his book art of the deal – even if it was a ghostwriter, the ethics and approaches he uses are clear.

I keep trying to console myself with the fact that the entire Trump family – including that old man father of Trump- were all Democrats. Though they are the epitome of so much vanity and BS, I can remember Ivanka making some sense in her speech at the RNC. Donald telling Caitlyn to use whatever bathroom she wanted. I can only hope that they are the ones that drag conservatives over to “normalize” some things that they have been so long against.

But that’s it. This family has contempt for the poor, the uncouth, the fallen, like no other.

      • Patty says:

This so much. I mean even Sarah Palin called it what it is “crony capitalism”. It’s not a genius plan, it’s madness. You are basically allowing companies to blackmail taxpayers to keep low paying jobs in the US. Meanwhile Carrier is a company with billion dollar contracts and high ranking employees who make millions a year. They don’t need these tax breaks. It’s just more burden on the taxpayers of Indiana. The brunt to be borne by the very people who can afford it the least: the working class. But again, that’s what happens when you vote for Trump.

    • Kitten says:

Damn girl, I wish we were FB friends. I hate that I missed that but so proud of you for bringing it like the Nasty Woman that you are 😉

    • Shambles says:

      Thanks ladies 😀

Honestly, it felt really good. When I was finally done typing, I did that “dusting off your hands” motion that you do when you’re wiping off dirt. I was having so much fun imagining how far their jaws were dropping as they read my response.

And, funnily enough, both of them got back to me saying things like, “I love the fact that we can speak to each other with civility. I really do appreciate that” and, “Your civility and sourced responses are invaluable for progressing talks.” Because I’m a crazy nasty b*tch and we’re all supposed to be irrational and uncivilized, right? It’s alright, boys, you can admit that you just got slapped in the face with some LADY KNOWLEDGE. To quote my Ron Burgundy, “Don’t act like you’re not impressed.”

Plus, it doesn’t hurt that the guy asking all the questions was my ex from 10th grade. I know you’re secretly turned on by my immense and powerful knowledge, ya doofus. 17 questions my a$$.

And Kit, I wish we could be Facebook friends too. I wish I could leave a breadcrumb trail so you could figure out who I am. lol

    • Ashamed 2 b a Fl girl says:

      “two thumbs up…way up”

  12. Tough Cookie says:

Nazi Barbie & Ken. They make me shudder.

  13. swak says:

Didn’t Trump already say he would not put his businesses in a blind trust because that would put his children out of jobs? This is so much a conflict of interest and hopefully something will be done about it. Probably not.

  14. Hazel says:

What issues does she care about, other than making money? And I thought Trump said global warming was a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese, so why would he have an energy czar at all? Oh, wait, to get more oil & gas, and make sure he doesn’t have any nasty windmills in sight of his golf courses. Sigh. Just read that Joe Biden will run in 2020.

    • Who ARE these people? says:

Joe will be 78 and we need to look at younger candidates. More important, we need to protest and resist today, not wait 4 years.

  15. BlueRussianCat says:

Hmmm….I am thinking Jared or Ivanka are looking to run for political office in the future.
What better way to learn ( and also be around influential people), than move to Washington DC? Those two are ambitious.
For those who think it is unlikely, could anyone have thought Donald would be elected President?

    • Nic919 says:

Ivanka and Jared won’t run for office because they will have profited so much from the huge con being played on the US that they will be immensely rich. That is if the US has not descended into a fascist hereditary dictatorship.

  16. Nancy says:

It’s the bring your daughter to work administration, so long as it’s not the hidden daughter Tiffany. Ivanka is her father’s carbon. She outsources her clothing line to China and Viet Nam. They do everything opposite of what they lied about during the campaign. She sickens me as much as her father. Wolf in sheep’s clothing….clothing made cheaply by people outside of the U.S. Of course, she couldn’t bring the workers here, they would be deported by her father.

  17. Squiggisbig says:

So why is Donald even married to Melania then?

Also Melania met with Leonardo DiCaprio as well as Al Gore which suggests she really will be the climate change czar. Why??? What are her qualifications?

  18. Say What says:

    My thoughts about this

1-So the Donald wants to fly home to New York, every nigh,t to sleep in his own bed and his wife does not want to be in DC either, but it’s important for his daughter and son-in-law to live there. What is wrong with this picture?.

2- The most powerful leader in the world needs his daughter and son-in- law there to translate everything for him. How sad.

  19. jerkface says:

  20. Eda says:

    • minx says:

How would a plastic surgeon think that’s a good nose job? It’s totally out of proportion with her face.

      • Snowflake says:

        This^^

It’s too little, obvious nise job, imo too. That’s why I don’t get it when people say she’s good looking. I don’t think she is.

  21. Tillie says:

“I think Jared is one of the few people Trump trusts completely, and their relationship is still so weird to me. Like, is Jared the son Donald Trump never had but always wanted? Does Jared see Trump as a father figure?”

I’ve noticed this is not an uncommon thing with autocrats. Nazarbayev in Kazakhstan comes immediately to mind. They bond with the son-in-law over the sons. I’m not sure why? If they don’t have the baggage of a childhood with the son-in-law?

  22. Annetommy says:
