The Trump kids & their Secret Service details are causing problems in Aspen

Ivanka Trump Takes Her Daughter Out For Ice Cream In Aspen

Here are some photos of Ivanka Trump and her daughter out and about in Aspen, Colorado this week. Ivanka, her brothers and all of their kids have been in Aspen since the weekend, minus Jard Kushner, who stayed in DC to help Baby Fists. Apparently, all of their kids have off this week for Spring Break, and the Trumps thought it would be a good idea to spend Spring Break in Aspen. That’s quite common with rich people – only middle-class peasants spend Spring Break on a beach somewhere, getting day-drunk and making bad life choices. Apparently, Aspen society wants no part of the Trump family though. From Vanity Fair:

Over the weekend The Aspen Times reported that about 100 Secret Service agents were expected to travel with them. As a matter of protocol, the Secret Service would not comment on the number of agents it sent to protect the First Family. A representative told me I would have to file a Freedom of Information Act request in order to find out how much the government spent on sending agents on a Trump spring break. Bill Linn, an assistant chief of police in the town of Aspen, said that the Secret Service had been in touch with the police department and had not asked for any kind of support.

For many, a chance to spot the First Family is a draw. Dinner reservations and spots at events held at Mar-a-Lago, for instance, are now hard to come by. But for many New York families vacationing in Aspen, the presence of the Trumps is nothing but trouble. “They’re everywhere. There are so many of them,” one New York mom who is vacationing in Aspen told me. “Everyone is complaining. Everyone is annoyed.”

Another New York mom who took her kids to Aspen for the week said that with so many agents about, it is hard to get around the mountain. Because the Trump group is so big, and security is so tight, it’s harder to score tables at the few local restaurants at which New Yorkers normally dine. Traffic, too, they said, is a nightmare. (Linn said that there were no reports filed about traffic related to a dignitary visit, but that traffic has been challenging). About 40 or so locals threw together a last-minute protest on Main Street—for “All That Is Right and Good”—when they heard about the First Family’s visit.

[From Vanity Fair]

VF goes on to theorize that perhaps this is all some kind of high-level stunt-queening from the Trumps because if we’re paying attention to their disastrous Aspen trip, then maybe we aren’t paying attention to the disastrous Trumpcare debacle. To me, it’s all one and the same. The Trumps are deplorable and it disgusts me that taxpayers are footing the bill for their ski trip – and the president isn’t even there!!! – and it also disgusts me that the Republicans want to gut healthcare. The lesson: whether it’s about tourism or healthcare policy, the Trumps are deplorable.

  1. Louise177 says:

Does the President have 100 Secret Service? That seems extremely excessive and unnecessary.

    • Heather says:

I thought he refused secret service in favor of his own private security?

      • Lightpurple says:

He gets Secret Service but he insists that they work with his private group too and that is causing problems. His private security group has no authority to close roads, make advance hospital arrangements (SS always does this when a president travels in case there is an emergency of some sort), or many of the other security steps the Secret Service takes. But like him, his private group doesn’t work well with others and the Secret Service is not happy.

      • Rapunzel says:

And taxpayers are footing the private security costs though they are not trained to protect a President.

      • Digital Unicorn (aka Betti) says:

Hmm, there has been a few stories about security breaches that are being blamed on the secret service, I wonder if its his private firm that’s making the eff ups and they are blaming the SS.

      • Esmom says:

Yes, I’ve read about the security breaches, too. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if the private security guys were mucking things up.

      • SusanneToo says:

@DU and Esmon. A part of me wonders if the SS is practicing benign purposeful neglect, given the turd they’re covering.(I know they’re professionals-that’s wishful thinking on my part.)

      • Rapunzel says:

If the SS is responsible for the security breaches, it’s likely because they’re exhausted from being being treated like ping pong balls, bouncing between NYC, DC, and Palm Beach, plus whatever cities DT decides to hold “rallies” in to satisfy his ego.

There’s good reason why the President is supposed to be centered in DC.

      • Megan says:

SS security breaches aren’t all that uncommon, and generally don’t pose any real threat to the president. SS agents are hardcore, but no system is perfect and Trump is so paranoid we have to hear about it every time there is an issue, no matter how small (like a guy jumping the bike rack near the White House).

      • jwoolman says:

I wonder if his insistence on his own private security is not just his usual paranoia about loyalty. He may be looking for a crew that will protect him when he is forcibly escorted off the premises for various reasons (ranging from men in white coats trying to apply a strait jacket to law enforcement trying to handcuff him…).

  2. LaraK says:

I love how all the right wing nut jobs tout how Trumpkin is not taking a salary. He’s leaving $400K in taxpayers pockets y’all!
Meanwhile he’s costing people MILLIONS every effing WEEK for trips to Florida, protection for his wife in NY, family trips to Aspen and lord knows what else.
    Unbelievable!

On the plus side, I think it really burns Ivanka that she is so reviled. She used to be mostly respected and definitely adored as a pretty and smart working mom. And now she’s, well, this!

    • Rapunzel says:

He is taking salary though. He said he’s donating it, but there’s no proof of that yet.

    • Lightpurple says:

But he IS taking the salary. He has accepted the salary every pay period since the inauguration. When asked about it Spicer said that the press has to name a charity where he can donate the money. He is also taking the healthcare coverage for himself, Melania, and Barron.

      • Rapunzel says:

The Healthcare thing really sticks in my craw. What a jerk to deprive folks of coverage while taking your own.

      • swak says:

IIRC, Spicer also said that he would donate it at the end of the year. Could be wrong.

      • jwoolman says:

I think he has to take it by law. He can do whatever he wants with the money, but refusing it is not an option. He’s on our payroll, whether he likes it or not.

    • Heather says:

He has taken the salary though.

    • Beth says:

People can really ignore what they don’t want to hear and say he’s a good guy who is working for “free”. OMG! My mom insists that he pays for the security of his wife at Trump Tower and all these trips to Florida. I show her everyday on the computer that she’s wrong. I think by now she’s too embarassed to admit how wrong and foolish she was

    • Rachel says:

I would really l really like the media to file that FOIA request…

    • Original T.C. says:

Don’t you know the Republicans are fiscal conservatives who protect taxpayers from the government using their hard earned money. *sarcasm*

I hope the continue reporting on how much the Maria Antoinette family continues lavishly spending tax payer money while Trump takes food, education and healthcare away from Americans. This is one thing that will really burn the arse of Republican supporters. Can’t wait to see the next Town Hall meetings.

    • Alicia says:

In Obama’s eight years in office taxpayers were on the hook for $96 million for his trips, etc. That is over EIGHT years. Trump is going to surpass that in year one alone – if the projections are correct, Trump will be billing the taxpayers $90-$100 million yearly so he can leave Melania in NYC, can go to Mar-a-Lago every weekend and his kids can get SS protection for all their “business” trips and vacations.

If Trump – God forbid – is in there for two terms, we will be looking at close to a billion dollars he’s looted from the taxpayers to pay for his and his family’s vacations. And that doesn’t take into account the money pouring into his pockets from the increased fees he is charging people to join Mar-a-Lago or dine there, stay at his hotels, etc.

Trump sees being President as lining his pockets and getting rich, not taking care of the country. He and his family don’t care if the country burns down, as long as they get paid for it.

      • SusanneToo says:

Don’t forget all the under the table deals undoubtedly going on to install his crappy hotels and other businesses in China, the Middle East, etc.
I never doubted that Halliburton was funneling money to Darth Cheney after he started the Iraq war, and I have no doubt trump and his spawn are raking it in, also.

  3. Snowflake says:

I would be pissed if I spent money going to Aspen and was inconvenienced by them

    • Esmom says:

      Yes, for sure.

    • Qzie says:

But what else should Ivanka do? Her White House office isn’t ready yet. Skiing in Aspen is the only logical option.

      • BearcatLawyer says:

She can go back to Trump Tower or to her house in Connecticut.

      • SusanneToo says:

What about her multi-million dollar abode in DC? Surely she’s prepping for her very important job as daddy’s eye candy.

    • Canadian Becks says:

“They’re everywhere. There are so many of them,” one New York mom who is vacationing in Aspen told me. “Everyone is complaining. Everyone is annoyed.”

I say the same thing about cockroaches.

  4. Erica says:

If Hillary Clinton had won and Chelsea had gotten a ton of security plus an office in the white house the Republican’s would have had fit.We are paying for his whole family to have security when surely his adult kids could pay for their own security.

    • Kelly says:

Right? It makes me so mad that we’re having to pay for his adult children to have details. That is completely absurd. Minor children like Barron should be protected, absolutely. Even children that have just past 18 but still live in the White House with their parents like the older Obama girl or I believe the Bush girls should still get details, but for kids who have been out of their dad’s house as long as the older Trumps and who theoretically have no part in the administration it’s disgusting.

      • Beth says:

It’s not like they’re broke either. And they’re adults! I’m sure they could pay for their security themselves. Taxpayers definitely shouldn’t be paying for this.

      • vauvert says:

Yeah, but think how much better deals they can strike when they’re swanning around foreign countries with SS detail… it makes it easier for them to grift when they can show foreign princes just how close to the WH they are and how they can get things done… (for evidence see recent Uday and Qusay trips in the ME and Canada). /s

    • Lindy79 says:

Its the same regarding the constant and still continuing criticism of Obama.

Obama took a vacation, “oooh he’s so lazy, we’re paying for that!”
Trump takes weekly golf trips, “he’s entitled to a rest, he’s working so hard!”

EVERY SINGLE DAMN THING they criticised him for, and Trump does x 1000 they ignore, or explain away, instantly forgive and excuse. Its truly baffling…..

      • SusanneToo says:

Lindy, not baffling at all. Did you forget that President Obama is BLACK!!! That’s why his expenses were unjustified.

      • Lindy79 says:

Yes true, I should have written baffling to a sane, non racist person

    • Syko says:

I don’t recall the adult Carter kids having to be protected, or the adult Reagan kids, either. Of course this may be because they all lived normal lifestyles and didn’t rush off to Aspen for spring break, or go kill endangered species in Africa, or do private business on tax money.

  5. Rapunzel says:

Don’t worry, Aspen. New York City and Palm Beach feel your pain. And so are the taxpayers.

    • velourazure says:

No fan of baby fists or his spawn, but I have little sympathy for rich 1 percenters crying into their caviar that their Aspen vacations were “ruined”.

  6. original kay says:

Look how happy Ivanka is that she can afford to go Aspen and that her children well fed and clothed.

I wonder if she even knows it has no bearing on their performance at school? If she knows some kids ae home for break and without access to the school’s meals programs, are hungry? cold? scared?

I hate their family (minus the kids of course)

    • Fiorella says:

How to help kids like that though ? Other than giving more rights to social workers? Encouraging teachers to reports signs of neglect? Honest question

      • SusanneToo says:

In my state(AL)teachers are mandated by law to report signs of neglect. We’re also supposed to narc on suspected illegal immigrants, but I think most ignore that.
A few years ago, a program was started that provided free meals during vacations and summer break. All that is eliminated in trump’s budget because apparently there’s no data showing that feeding people has any positive impact.

      • original kay says:

        I’m sorry, what?

you are asking me honestly how to help kids who are hungry? start by not defunding the programs that help them, maybe?

report the parents for neglect? neglect of what, not making enough money, bills too high, food prices too high?
a government that now is actively working to punish them for being poor?

how to help them? at least admit there is a problem that is everyone’s to solve, stop shaming families that have low income, stop putting tax breaks for the rich, invest in schools and universal health care.

Donate to your local schools, and request the money goes to feeding the kids who need it. Donate to your food bank, your church. anything but benign acceptance of the status quo.

      • Kitten says:

        What Original Kay said.

“at least admit there is a problem that is everyone’s to solve, stop shaming families that have low income, stop putting tax breaks for the rich, invest in schools and universal health care”

        THIS all day, every day.

JFC I got into the most futile argument with a Trumpster yesterday who thinks people on welfare should be subject to mandatory drug-testing. I pointed out that they tried this before in FL, AZ, TN and not only was the *experiment* costly af (think about the potential cost of the tests and the lab results for every person who receives govt aid) but the tests proved that the majority of people receiving government aid are (SURPRISE!) NOT on drugs!

Additionally, a FL judge ordered for the testing to be ceased as it was deemed unconstitutional. This dumb-ass Trumpster could not understand why it would be considered unconstitutional to demand bodily fluids from a person without a warrant, much less any probable cause. He kept comparing the situation to companies that require drug-tests and no matter how hard I tried to explain that there’s a HUGE difference between voluntarily working for a company, knowing their pre-hire process requires a drug test vs a private citizen being drug-tested for no other reason except that they receive govt aid.

I posed the question following question: So should vets who benefit from the GI bill be drug-tested? How about people who receive the dependent care tax credit? How about college students who received a federal loan? In all of the aforementioned scenarios, they are in receipt of Fed aid.

His response? Yes they should all be drug-tested. I had to laugh at the absurdity as well as the typical hypocrisy. “Small government! Deregulate!!”
all the while essentially advocating for a Police State. Yeah dude..let’s drug-test every f*cking American citizen just for the fun of it.

Also, 82% of households on public assistance have a child, elderly family member, or disabled person that they are caring for. 50% of people on welfare are CHILDREN FFS AND most are required to work in order to receive aid.

All of this because these assholes worship the rich and demonize the poor. SMDH..

Sorry for the rant but I cannot take sharing the same soil as these sh*tbags anymore.

      • Syko says:

Kitten, your rant is right on. Here in FL, the number of food stamp recipients who were found to have used drugs (probably pot, at that) was under 2%. But the governor pushed it – possibly because his wife owns most of the testing labs in the state. Corruption everywhere, at every level.

I still see that meme touting drug testing for food stamp recipients and every time I see it, I feel obliged to tell the poster how wrong they are. Nobody ever responds. Nor do they delete the meme.

And now they’re wanting to drug test people receiving unemployment benefits.

  7. theothercleo says:

Not exactly related to this story, but I need to share.
I had a bad dream with Ivanka last night. She was on the cover of The Edit, Net-A-Porter magazine, wearing a black jumpsuit and an awful grey furcoat. At some point she started talking (I could hear her voice but I couldn’t actually see her, nightmares are weird) and I realized that she was Putin publicist. She explained that Vlad had done such a fantastic job winning the election in the US and that he hoped to do the same in France and Germany. I suddenly woke up, more than an hour before my alarm rang.
So I hate her even more and I’ve decided she’s responsible for my lack of sleep.

  8. QQ says:

Here can we do this real quick what the f*ck does he need a counselor daughter for ??? YOU ARE NOT THE ROYAL VIZIR OF CONSTANTINOPLE MOTHERF*CKER YOU DONT GET A ROYAL COURT WITH NEBULOUS OLD TIMEY TITLES

    • SusanneToo says:

QQ, now he doesn’t have to leave the WH to cop a feel. She’s close at hand.

    • Lightpurple says:

This made me smile. Thank you, QQ. If I see a picture of her today, my mind will automatically slap “ROYAL VIZIR OF CONSTANTINOPLE MOTHERF*CKER COUNSELOR DAUGHTER” over her plastic face.

    • BearcatLawyer says:

      QQ, love this!!! 😘

    • vauvert says:

If only he were the grand vizier – then at least we could hope the sultan could decide to get rid of him some day… The real nightmare is that the moron is the sultan, and this plastic doll joke of a “working mom” is his favourite child. No one to get rid of them short of a palace coup (I do hope so much that the IC is quietly putting all the info together and will deliver it when it is so extensive and hard to dispute that impeachment would become the sweetest alternative.)

  9. Tig says:

Dear God- hundreds of Secret Service?? Can this be accurate? How large IS this group? And where in the world are they being housed? And how much does THAT cost??
Ages ago, had friends of friends whose family worked for Secret Services details. Per that person, even back then agents had being assigned to details where the folks lived in places like Palm Springs and Aspen- ridiculously expensive. Guess when they go to Margo del Largo, or whatever the tacky joint is called, Trump bills the Secret Service for putting them up there.

    • Rapunzel says:

It’s a large group, TIG. There’s Ivanka, her three kids, DT Jr., his wife, and their five kids, plus Eric and his wife. That’s 13 people to protect. With a minimum 2 guards a person, that’s at least 26 SS agents. It’s likely double or even triple that.

    • Lightpurple says:

They have to maintain a presence even when he isn’t there. My sister’s brother-in-law is Secret Service. His first detail was a corner of Bush’s ranch. He would spend hours each day by himself in an ugly field. When Bush was there, the numbers of agents would increase because there is a traveling detail assigned to each person. During Obama’s first term, he was assigned to a corridor in the White House.

  10. Indiana Joanna says:

Pigs at the trough. Plastic Barbie and her hideous brothers like lording it over other people with their travelling village of Secret Service minions. They have always been tacky and flagrant and completely lacking in subtlety. They are what poor people think rich people look like (thank you Fran Lebowitz).

I do feel sorry for the Secret Service professionals who have to deal with the baby fist scum.

    • Nancy says:

She’s a spoiled bitch who looks in the mirror and sees her father’s face. If you look at the pictures of them together over the years, being soclose, one has to wonder about their relationship. Freudian. She was golfing with daddy over the weekend. She golfed in a dress and heels chopping up the greens laughing hysterically probably how cute she was. He was always on a rant about President Obama’s frequent golfing and now every week as he goes home to Florida, there he is golfing. I am on a roll this morning, but I can’t wait to see them implode.

  11. Marcy says:

He’s not dropped a dime to charity, and if they want to go on all these trips let them pay for their own security, they are costing cities their livelihoods. People cannot conduct business because they have to work around Trump and his grifting family. Cities like Palm Beach to NYC are tired of spending their resources etc to front them while he charges 200k per Mar-Lar-Go-Away fees to come dine with them and his football. Did anyone read the Wall Street Journal today? They put Trump on blast and called him the Fake President haha! He has zero credibility and every country mocks us now and if they gang up on us we will be no more because we have him destroying us image by image, freedom by freedom while draining the money we all put in every year for taxes. Pence, Ryan him need to go! He’s the Chief of Lies and Take Your Bucks!

    • BearcatLawyer says:

My guess is that if and when he ever donates his salary, it will be to a charity he founds so he and his relatives can continue to feed at the trough.

  12. SusanneToo says:

Last night I watched CBS News and there was a report about a children’s hospital in South Sudan. The children there are starving, some so frail they can’t even eat. One boy’s thighs were the size of my forearms. The trump budget cuts aid to organizations that try to help these situations.

I hate every trump and their co-conspirators with every fiber of my being. I’m not religious, but I pray every day that bad things will happen to bad people.

    http://www.cbsnews.com/news/at-south-sudan-childrens-hospital-evidence-of-toll-from-civil-war-and-famine/

    • BearcatLawyer says:

Our foreign policy has been set back decades in just two months. The U.S. is well on its way to losing all respect in the world.

I simply must believe there is a special place in hell for Cheeto Mussolini and his ilk. It is the only thing that keeps me fighting.

      • Kitten says:

How are you holding up? I too hate Cheeto with every fiber of my being and I hate him even more for making your job that much more difficult.

  13. Svea says:

And I’m sure they are not talking about the business so she can go back and report on it to daddy. Snort. Oh and how come “draining the swamp” doesn’t mean the end of nepotism? The US government is now a kingdom.

  14. SusanneToo says:

trump signs NASA bill while cutting its budget. Look at all those white people! Plus two(white)women! Such diversity!

  15. Shambles says:

She should not have a security detail. End of.

And fear not, they may not be on a beach, but they are still definitely making bad license choices. Every minute that she doesn’t denounce her Manchurian father is a bad life decision.

Trevor Noah yesterday coined the phrase “conflicts of incest” and I died

  16. Claree says:

I didn’t realize the President’s ADULT children and grandchildren receive this kind of tax payer funded security. I don’t remember ever hearing anything about Joe Biden’s adult children and their 100 secret service agents? (granted he was VIP, but still). It’s kind of ridiculous.

    • Lightpurple says:

It is optional and practically everyone else has opted out.

    • Luca76 says:

As far as I can tell the Bush children didn’t opt in under HW. It looks like all of the Reagan children (except for their youngest son) did receive a detail.

  17. Rapunzel says:

Oh, now it appears Jared has joined the crew in Aspen. Dailyfail has photos.

So much for his vital role in the Trump admin. And cue the next tweetstorm cause Jarvanka isn’t around to “calm” DT.

    • Betsy says:

Didn’t Jared and Bannon not get along? Perhaps there was another rupture. Can’t wait to see what horribleness explodes out of the Oval Office this time while no one’s around to babysit the sundowner.

  18. VegasSchmegas says:

Bevis and Butthead have full Secret Service coverage when they were at the opening of the Trump fronted hotels in Dubai and Vancouver. That to me seems like a total conflict of interest and misuse of US money. They are big boys (chronologically). Hire your own damn security and use that money for the American people and not your family of Grifters, Donny.

    • SusanneToo says:

But if they didn’t grift, they wouldn’t be trumps. It’s part of their dna. And it gives their poor suckers aspirations. Bread and circuses. Let them eat cake.

  19. Rachel says:

I feel absolutely awful that those poor, put-upon rich folks are having to be sooooo incredibly inconvenienced on their vacation… what a bunch of babies – ALL OF THEM. The adult Trumps should NOT have secret service protection.

  20. Christin says:

WaPo is now reporting the SS has requested 60 million ADDITIONAL dollars to fund travel-security next year for this bunch. That puts the price tag on it.

If they cannot get the funding, it is suggested SS will divert funds from other programs, such as fighting counterfeit money fraud.

    • Lightpurple says:

And cybercrime and missing children. Because Ivanka’s ski trips are so much more beneficial to us all.

    • ClaraBelle says:

If there is any god, there will be a Trump-free next-year. Or maybe there will not be a next-year, period.

  21. jerkface says:

Looks like lady Trunt is running low on fillers and botox. Tsk Tsk a crack in the facade. Daddy will be mad.

  22. BooBooLaRue says:

Perfect location for this family. Asspen.

  23. Bahare says:

This is from personal observation. It might be tainted a bit by loathing but this is real. We live 2 miles from Maralogo(spelling on purpose) and on the route from Palm Beach Airport to his estate or #club# or whatever. In addition if some of you are baseball lovers like I am, the county spent large sums of money (read #our money”) along with the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros to construct a large and lovely spring training and rehab facility which just opened on time for spring training. Every seat is full and it gives financial and social energy to our area. The only problem with it is you can’t leave because there is one way out and whenever be feels not orange enough, the road is closed for a minimum of 30 minutes. His favorite flight times naturally are Friday to Sunday or Monday preferably during rush hour.Because both AF1 and AF2 come in and go out at our airport flights without warning are delayed and things are shut down. Because most people flying out are connecting to travel to larger city facilities ,everybody down the line gets screwed.
That’s not all. Although there are restrictions preventing contractors and trades coming on the weekends before Cheeto we a accepted that. But now whenever he arrives or leaves except Saturday and Sunday all workers no matter where on the Island must immediately leave meaning my husband must get everyone working on his projects out and there goes the income for the trades and for us. Why can’t they save time and money and just build a wall around him?

  24. shouldawoulda says:

She was not getting full blow security detail bc she is an adult and has money. But, then they went on the commercial economy flight and claimed that some man attack her with her children. The plane was filled with her friends and family and they are the witnesses. So now, she has full blow security detail.

Usually, secret service makes the safety plans and the family has to listen and do it. But the republicans have said this negotiating is top secret so cannot tell to American people their attitudes and behavior. Basically Trump/Republicans have turned the secret service into household servants.

  25. Canadian Becks says:

Anyone know what Ivanka did with her NY apartment ?
Is it just being left empty while they live in DC?

  26. JJ says:

This is my first time at celebitchy which is apropos for all of y’all liberal bitches!
