The 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards were held in Las Vegas last night. Considering the absolutely insane lull in gossip for the past few weeks, I was really hoping that the ACMs would bring some old-fashioned country music drama. But from what I can see… there wasn’t much drama? Even the fashion was underwhelming, although I’m still going to stretch out these photos into two posts. You can see the list of ACM winners here.
One of the big red carpet moments was Nicole Kidman arriving with her husband Keith Urban. First, a word about Keith Urban: the couple who Botoxes together, stays together. And Urban’s lifts are next-level! As for Kidman’s style… she wore head-to-toe Alexander McQueen. I find this dress to be very fussy. It’s not like this would be better on someone else, or maybe better in a different color. It’s just a very odd design. She literally has a little fox on one boob and an owl on the other boob. It’s very… unusual. I love her earrings though.
Kelsea Ballerini wore a green Monique Lhuillier gown. I like that it’s something different, but I think the two-tone look makes this seem almost childish? It would have been a more mature look if it was all one color. I don’t know… she looks like someone’s 13-year-old little sister was roped into being a bridesmaid.
Here’s Luke Bryan and his wife. She’s very pretty, but she’s very, very orange.
Here’s Dierks Bentley and Cassidy Black. I’m not into him at all. Weirdly, I find Luke Bryan to be WAY hotter.

I adore the dress and love how Nicole looks in it. Woodland creatures — how bizarrely charming! And her body…no fair, it’s perfect.
I feel bad for Keith, though. Somehow he always looks like her errant child in their red carpet pics, and not just because of the disparity in their heights…he just always has a sheepish, unconfident, kind of guilty look on his face. But yeah, he needs to employ a stylist and a barber, STAT.
I love it, but I think it would be better with short sleeves, or a lower neckline. The long sleeve, high-necked look with lace or embroidery does make her look a little Victorian ghost-like.
I love it too. It’s a very difficult design to pull off and she does that. I actually think she looks great here. Did you guys see the finale of Big Little Lies. I won’t spoil it for anyone but Nicole is so good in it. She is one of the few that can really act and translate the motions her characters go though despite the fact she messes with her face so much. And since we are also on the subject of her husband…. i wonder what is this that draws her to men like Keith or Tom. Men who obviously are short and insecure about that. Men who are obssesed with their looks. She is a talented actress in sync with humanity since she keeps on delivering grear acting and portraying multilayered characters. She is tall and beautiful (if she stoped messing with her face) she obviously could do so much better.
I think she looks great. Dress is okay but i really like her hair and makeup here.
But more importantly, why have there been no posts on BIG LITTLE LIES? Kidman, Witherspoon, Woodley and Dern are killing it. Mainly, I just need to talk about it with somebody and none of my friends are watching it.
Ditto! My boyfriend and I were obsessed with the finale last night. Amazing! I’m assuming Lainey will be covering it today because she and Duana were obsessed.
Meanwhile, all these current country guys are so bland and sexless. Total snooze fest.

Me, too. She looked so pretty in Big Little Lies with the red hair, which I think must have been a wig. As for this dress, it’s a beautiful pattern—love it. But weird for a dress (especially the boob critters). Floor-length curtains or a comfy stuffed chair might be a better use.
I was just coming here to post about Big Little Lies. I feel oddly defensive of Nicole after her performance. I honestly think it’s her best work yet.
And as far as the Botox goes, her face looks much more relaxed.
Yeah, missed opportunity here. There should have been a BLL thread. You could tell a lot of CB readers were into it from comments on other threads.🙄 I loved it but the finale was underwhelming, maybe because I had read the book and new what happened. But enjoyed the ride there.
Totally agree. The show and Nicole’s perdormance in it should be the topic of this post rather than her being a date for a country music awards show

I’ll talk about it with you!! What are your thoughts on Alex’s role? My husband and I watch it together and that one episode where he comes home and there’s toys all over the room, and he’s complaining about it . My husband said,”you could feel the tension . Like,he’s always on the verge of blowing up . ” I said,”he scares the sh*t out of me!” Alex is a better actor then I thought he was. Also, I feel Reese is pretty close to what she’s playing . Very type A, not very likeable . I feel like we all have a pretty good idea about Ziggy’s paternity .

Alex was terrifying. I didn’t watch True Blood and didn’t have much of an opinion on him, but he was great as Perry. He had that perfect mix of charm and ice coldness.
He was terrifying. The scenes of abuse were so disturbing. The abuse flashback in the finale took my breath away.
I hate to say it but he was sexy as F in that Elvis get up.
Alex was terrifying as Perry. He is a great actor. Nicole Kidman’s performance was heartbreaking and just amazing. It was such a good show and I was so sad to see it end.
I’m still obsessed with the BLL soundtrack on spotify. The music was on point!
Alex was incredible in the role. I had read the book and was surprised when he was cast as Perry as he wasn’t what I had imagined. But he nailed it. So terrifying, but utterly charming. Nicole’s performance was so raw and heartbreaking. Reminded me why I will always be a fan. Also Laura Dern played the crazy brilliantly.
Oh and can we talk about the houses!! Even the apartment Celeste rented was STUNNING!
Kidman says that they wanted to find someone tall, who could believably physically intimidate her.

That scene where the women all realized what Jane figured out was stunning! Not one word spoken but it was so clear what they were thinking. That is one fabulous group of talent.
Nicole looks gorgeous here – I love the whimsy of that gown.
I cried when they showed the attack at the end. Perry attacking all of the women just broke me. I don’t know why but it just cut me to the quick.
Who was watching them through the binoculars and why?
Nicole was amazing, best acting she has done in years. Laura Dern made a difficult character human. Zoe’s voice was lovely. My vampire Viking Alex never disappoints. And all of the kids were fantastic
On the beach? One of the police officers, I think.
The police detectives. The show ended a little differently than the book. In the book, Bonnie confesses to being the one who pushed Perry. But that show left that part out. I wonder if they are leaving it open for a second season?
I loved the show and would love to see these women again. But I also don’t think it needs a second season.
The woman police office…you could hear that lighter flick (that she kept doing when watching in the squad room). LOVED this adaptation, and loved that it followed the book! (Also glad enough time had passed between my reading it and this series so I didn’t remember the ending! Lol). AMAZING performances.
I was amazed at how good Nicole Kidman was. We see her in her Botoxed glory in red carpet photos and wonder how that affects her career, but she was just stunning in the show. Her face is still so expressive on camera, she hit such a homerun. Loved her on BLL!
And Skarsgard was so good too, he was so physically intimidating as the show went on and that played such a big part in the tension.

Honestly, I kind of love Nicole’s dress. I might like it better on someone else – but I genuinely think it’s kind of cool. I designed and got a tattoo done on my leg that’s a doe with kind of a vine and roses framing it – which is probably why I like the dress. Big fan of all the woodland creatures. Nicole is looking a little less ‘strange’ as well. I don’t know if she’s laid off on the botox or whatever a bit, or what. But she looks pretty here. Keith is WAY too orange.
Kelsea looks nice – but I agree. It’s kind of bridesmaid-y. She looks very young – which isn’t a bad thing. I think some of it is that we’re seeing a lot of very done up, very orange, plasticy women next to her, so there’s more contrast highlighting it.
I love the print of Luke’s wifes dress. It’s kind of pageant/prom in a lot of ways – but I don’t care. If I was tall and very slim, I’d love to own a dress like that.
I went through a deep country music phase when I was in highschool. I still listen to a little bit here an there, but not much. My husband who never really liked country actually listens to more than I do now because his favorite coworker plays it a lot. He’s grudgingly admitted that there are a few musicians/songs that he genuinely likes. But back when we were in high school the only songs I could really sneak into a CD were some of Dierks. They weren’t super country songs, but I’ve always really liked his voice – and it’s easy to pick out when you hear one of his songs. He looks good in the gray suit.
Keith just consistently looks ridiculous. Nicole is a goddess in my eyes.
He does, Stacy. I remember in the early 2000’s thinking he was pretty handsome. He was still a bit too into his hair – it was kind of too fussy looking to be a laid back kind of look – but I don’t remember it ever being THIS bad. Maybe it’s because styles have changed, but his hasn’t? No idea. But he’s doing himself no favors.
I really like it! It’s so unique, and the detail is exquisite. I bet in person it would be breathtaking.

All the nuances of the relationships between them all and how they bonded then was fantastic.

I think Nicole looked beautiful in that dress but more importantly I’m just really here to say how much I loved the BLL finale last night. It was The most satisfying thing I’ve watched in a long time. I haven’t read the book but still guessed what was going to happen and I was literally jumping on my couch as it was playing out. So good!
Definitely need a BLL post. So so good. And thanks for the info on Zoe’s band. Her voice was mesmerizing. Wish they could of stretched it out a few more episodes.
And I read somewhere that the actresses really bonded with the kids. When they got back together for promotional work, it was like a big family reunion. I think I enjoyed some of the kids work as much as Reese and Shailene, etc.
The actors who played Chloe and Ziggy were awesome.

The dress reminds me of a quilt at some 18th century historic house like Mount Vernon or the House of 7 Gables or Paul Revere’s home. But it is beautiful work and Nicole carries it off. She lost her fashion sense there for a while but seems to be getting it back.

The dress fabric is pure Elizabethan texile fabric, you can see the exact same design in portraits and costume galleries, except the orininals are less drab.
Nicole is so elegant, she makes most of the other dresses look cheap. Her skin is luminous, whoever did her makeup did an amazing job.
